  • Extremely rare video segment from the Singer Show in 1967. Enjoy.
    P.S. I had the once in a lifetime opportunity to see Herb and Lani play at Blues Alley in Georgetown Washington DC 12 May 2008. The show was absolutely spectacular. After all these years, they both still have it: the skills and the love. Truly a remarkable show. Herb and Lani, thanks to all of the wonderful years of warming our hearts with your great art work. You both are truly blessed as well as I was at your show.

I went on to major in music and here I am 55 years later and still a trumpet player! It has been a joy to have so many wonderful students over the years and I still play in our community band and at church. While I am primarily a classical trumpet player, I must thank Herb for influencing me to play!

    My dad had this on a record and played it on the stereo frequently. This was back in the 60's so I imagine that it was shortly after it came out. That was many chapters ago in my life. Dad is gone, but this memory lives on.

    We all feel transported back, 50 plus years, as if yesterday... And tomorrow morning, i will play this for my 86 year old father...
    But then i noticed something... This is a very audacious music video!!! I frankly don't know how they did it, as there were no drones in those days.
    Sure, the quality isn't so great by modern standards, but primitive technology didn't stop them from taking risks and trying to tell a story visually. Kudos

    I remember this song when I had just turned 18 and was in Bossier City, La for the state basketball championships, a few of us Seniors went to a bar on the Strip and a girl came and whispered in my ear " watch me, this is for you" loudly playing in the background was this song and she stepped up on a table, about 2 feet tall, and began dancing the sexiest and slowest dance I'd had ever seen she never took her eyes away from me. Her name was Bonnie B......... I am 70 now and it's still as fresh as if were yesterday.

    I feel really old. I remember seeing this on tv when I was a youngster. In my family anything with Herb Alpert and TJB was positively watched. It was the only concert that we as a family travelled to Washington DC to see. My aunts and uncles and the whole family went. Of course at the time Brasil 66 was the touring partner. What great memories. I got to take my dad and mom in the 80's in Kansas City when Herb Alpert toured then, Just as much fun after I grew up.

    I love this song...loved it SO much that I put it on my phone. This song was the first song that I remembered playing on the Adult Standards station that used to play here in my local area before it converted to an News/Talk station. I used to love listening to the Adult Standards stations wherever I lived at and explore the rich history of music. Who knew that one song could serve as the beginning for something greater in life (an appreciation of the REAL classics).

    The old vinyl had something that today's digital is missing; maybe it's soul or maybe just the motion of the record going around and around that gave it a unique feeling. Either way, I miss it. I remember walking around Hi-Fi stores with walls and walls of turntables, tuners and amps, huge speakers. Something in music got lost somewhere in time. Myself, I'm returning to the old ways; rebuilding the old system and collecting the vinyls; many are still around. It will be a glorious moment when I slide that record out of the album sleeve and fire up that turntable - I real magical experience it shall be.

      Tim Vger I have cassettes that sound better than some CDs.

    • @irish00011
      @irish00011 9 років тому +2

      Tim Vger You're correct about all you stated except for one item; when played too much or over and over again, the sound begins to fade substantially, as the vinyl just plain wears out, and if you want to keep playing the same tracks, you have to pony up some more cash for a new vinyl copy. The record store have seen you coming; it means more funds for them. While CDs' will scratch, the sound doesn't fade away, nor does it fade with MP3 or MP4.

    • @daviddegriselles7318
      @daviddegriselles7318 9 років тому +7

      Tim Vger,
      If you look at the wave length created by digital and analog sound on an
      oscilloscope, you would see where the loss of sound quality comes from.
      Analog is a wave and digital is square blocks. If you were to lay one
      on top of the other, the square cuts off the rounded edges of the waves.
      They tell you that these frequencies are inaudible to human ears.
      They are correct in that aspect of the frequency alone can not be heard
      by the human ear. But when stripped away from the total sound you lose
      what many call the ambiance of the sound. Otherwise it means the sound
      is fuller.
      On high end equipment, you should be able to hear the difference between digital and analog sound. Though it is getting harder since they are improving digital all the time.

    • @irish00011
      @irish00011 9 років тому +2

      If the vinyl is what you love, and you have a lot of treasured recordings from the same artist, than I'm suggesting, that you locate as many vinyl recording copies of the artist that are available, because as the one your playing now has begun to wear, and the quality of the recording has begun to disappear, you'll have many other copies to fall back on. Yes, and don't digitize it to a different electronic format. If you do, then you've actually deflated your the logic of your belief.
