After my hero 4 randomly stopped working three years ago, I left it in a drawer. Today I tried all these options and #4 worked. I used the link in the description to do it on Windows. It took many tries but it's working! Thanks for sharing the link :)

PS: the fact that many and many GoPros 4 died at the same moment for a SW bug, is making me think about GoPro mentality.. (I own a Hero7B actually)

Hi Kim! My name is Rhoster. I followed the instruction of the video uploader by downloading the debricking tools found in the description but in the tools i downloaded, i could not find the file named "h4-recovery.tgz" so i could not proceed to fix my gopro4. Do you still have the DB tools that contain "h4-recovery.tgz?" i would appreciate it if you could send/share it with me.
Well sir, the only one deserving the label Hero is you! Thank you for this turorial, my Hero 4 Silver turned into a brick after trying to save some changes in the settings I made via WiFi through the GoPro app on my iPad. I had to do use the debricking software which luckily worked on my MacBook Pro. Nothing indicated that the camera was connected to the computer after holding the power button and plugging in the USB cable, but the recovery program worked flawlessly. After bringing the camera back to life, I was able to update from firmware 3.00 to 5.00 (which I had before). Thank you so much for the detailed tutorial, you saved me from frustration-induced headache and some cash!

Option 4 (debricker tool) fixed my Hero 4 that would not boot. Updated to the latest GoPro software after that & it is back to normal. Thank you!
You have saved my hero4! I've had 2x hero4 the first one i ended up selling it because i didn't know how to fix it (kinda wish i didn't sell it now...)and now my second one im able to use now! The second option worked for me :)

Awesome! Steps 4 and the 3 worked for me! my camera was stuck on "Hero4" booting screen and there was nothing I could do for the camera to work... now I have a new camera back again! cheers

Thanx mate! Wow, it did unexpectedly work. Particularly, Option4. Actually was not hoping at all, how pleasant was it to see the screen display wombat and letters, as well as lights flickering. Got a bit scared it did not want to boot when requested to reboot after flushing. But then tried to charge a bit from the charger (and this time charging led lit red unlike before), once chaged a bit, it got started and working. Means any previous charging i tried when the gopro was a brick was for nothing. Thanks again!

Struggled a bit getting the correct driver with Zadig (needed winUSB but it failed to set up a couple of times). I was having the exact same messages with an identical camera that works fine, so I persevered. Brilliant.

Tried all 4 options, but my Hero 4 won't power up. The Win10 won't see the gopro when I connect it. No red led, nothing.... just a hot gopro after a few minutes in the middle, near the lens. Any ideeas ? Schould I buy a new motherboard ?

its not working for me... i just have a black screen after installing option 4 and reboot it. if i try to update version 5 of hero 4 it still do nothing. where did you found version 3? maybe it will work then?
Option n°4 did it for me as well :) didn't work on my pc, probably because of usb 3, luckily i had an old macbook laying around and it worked !

Any ideas on how to get my 'Video' function (on Hero4 Black) to stay on after switching on?? 'Photos' function works o.k. but the video function moves to the next function within a second or two. Baffling!. Thank you.

My Hero 4 Silver write the "Hero 4" message on the front screen, but didn't boot up. I tried reflashing the firmware and now working fine. Thanks!
When i try to reflash with the option #4 in the 3rd loading process, the application show me some fairules and the camera turn off the LCD and just disconnect from the PC :(.

Amazing!! Actual life saver!😩🙌🏾✨.. Lool towards the end of the process, my GoPro wasn’t turning on. Thought I had missed a step or did something wrong during the process.
But then it hit me 💡
The battery didn’t even have any juice in it (dead battery) 😂🤦🏾♀️
So once I charged it up.
A miracle happened. & My GoPro hero 4 came back to me 😩📷
