Gopro Hero 4 No Boot Last Resort Fix

If your GoPro Hero 4 does not boot or does not even turn on, don't give up yet.
This fix could bring back your camera to life.
This vídeo is a step by step guide to flash your camera turning on a feature called "USB command mode".
This fix could be used fo GoPro Hero 3, 4 and 5(specific files for each model in the folder), but use at your own risk.

BEAUTIFUL! My GoPro 4 Silver did not showed any signs of life. Nothing nothing, thought it was the battery. Tried this and worked like a charm.

I think my problem was because I ran the .bat as administrator. Run it normally and has worked. Good video. Shame on you GoPro - you told me nothing could be done!

Thanks for taking the time to detail this process so well. Your was the only resource I found that mentioned this so I'm really grateful. Everything worked for em EXCEPT right at the end - the camera rebooted but just froze and did not re-initialize. I'm guessing I maybe have a hardware issue but that's nobodys fault. The Guide was really helpful and everything want as you said it would - I didn't quite make it but I hope that this won't put off anyone else ... I'm sure it'll work for a lot of folk.
Thank you very much! My gopro was freezing, not conecting to pc, not reading sdcard sometimes, and only turn on sometimes, was about to send it to repair shops, but all fixed now!
It worked only on second time, it took about 30min to reflash and then the camera started good and now back again on v5.0

Worked great, my hero 4 was dead, didn't turn on at al or recognized by computer, I followed the steps and that fixed it, thank you🎉

I have a hero 4 black that starts up and all, but I can no longer get my GoPro app to connect to it. Same for my hero 8 black
Great video, I have had lots of trouble with sorting this go pro out. But your video has really helped. Mine is stuck on the very last bit now though. When I run h4_recovery_win.bat it passes ddr testing, but then says could not get size of evilcortex/evilcortex. Does this file exist? Error: Could not load bootstrap. Was hoping you might be able to point me in right direction?

Hey, i did everthing until 6:50 but after that my pc doesnt see the camera. Is there anything i can do for that?
I recomende to some users to use Windows 7 or disable temporarely the Anti Virus. This was made in windows 7.
hi, when i go to plug my gopro in after adding the recovery file, my pc doesn't recognise the gopro. i help the shutter button down when inserting the usb cable. any help would be appreciated. thanks
The pc does not need to recognise the Gopro. The aplication has to find it.

Hi there mate I’ve subscribed so mines done what yours has done won’t switch on how ever I’m at tge process installing driver and it says installation can take some time do I leave it running it’s been running now 20 minutes if you could reply that be great subscriber now
Now says the installation process can take up to 5min
Try disabling anti-virus or try on a windows 7 like I did. Hope you can fix it ;)
After this procedure the screen doesn't turn on. I have tried to turn on in the touch display menu and nothing.
Try to reload the firmware again, or just get a sd card with one original firmware and see if it updates and fixes it. Wish you luck ;).

If you used windows 10, try in windows 7. Some times there are diferences. Also disable anti-virus, they block some apps.Good luck.

You don't have to but you can.

I did not update anymore to leave the software lighter, but I have seen briked GoPros after update
@@rtrextech mine was bricked after this update.. But worked fine a couple of days, then got bricked. I suspect it is intentional.

You can try, if you have trouble opening any of the software, try to use the compatibility mode of Windows.

@@rtrextech everything works exactly as should I’m not sure if it is the battery because this go pro has randomly come alive before and now it seems bricked forever
@@rtrextech is there any way I can remove libusbk and put it back to how it originally was so I can try again as it won’t go into USB command mode now it is just in my device manager under libusbk devices and then it’s just “Unkown Device #1 and doesn’t appear in Zadig
@@rylee4313 I never did that, but you can you try to remove it from device manager? Try using the option "Show hidden devices" under "View" on the menu of device manager and see anything looks familliar. Good luck
Followed all the steps, after flashing succesfully, unpluging device, inserting battery and pressing Power button it still doesn't work.
The only time it ever does anything is when the flashing is happening, otherwise no LEDs light up and nothing on display.

Remember to press Shutter while you plug the USB, like I say at 6:00
@@rtrextech ok ,Done that Gopro H4 connected to computer and trying to install update driver at 8.00 but systems could not detect driver so no Hero4 command mode :(
@@bamboleorichie5264 you have to let it try to install, it will fail, after you choose the folder with the correct driver. If you are using windows 10, try it in windows 7. There could be something blocking it like an antivirus.
On Device manager shown Unknown USB Device
@@bamboleorichie5264 open in device manager and update the driver by choosing the folder with the driver you see in the vídeo.
i tried it but i had an error after the "pokemon" appeared, it said "checking card contents" , i followed all the steps , the only things is that i don t have the "hero 4 usb command but it remained a unknown device

I assume you have all the files and the usb driver connected. Check if the anti vírus did block something. I never saw this errror
