Albedo is one of my favorites and using him again on some teams lately (didn't experienced those peak teams back in the early days because I didn't have one of those characters mentioned or having a hard time building up characters during that time). Also played both Peakbedo events and those weapons too. He previously using Cinnabar Spindle but now he's using Chiori's sword (a fair upgrade in disguise) because they didn't gave me Redhorn for Noelle during Chiori's debut banner. Also give us Susbedo (the better Albedo) as banner too.
One of his biggest problems I've found is his construct is way too easy to break. They really should make those unbreakable. It hurt him badly with bosses. I love him, never regretted getting him, and hate how I just don't have a place for him on my teams.
This is literally the biggest issue I have w him. He'd be salvageable if his construct didn't break bc an enemy looked at it wrong Albedo is so comfy and flexible that even though his burst may as well not exist, he can still find a spot in a lot of teams if only HIS SKILL WORKED
I will wish for him regardless, just out of spite and defiance against the game's system. This is why I am also obtaining Xianyun, because she offers him the means to do what his skill can't do alone.
Saying "Hey look, Chiori's signature works with Albedo!" in that livestream really felt like rubbing salt in the wound for those who couldn't get Cinnabar Spindle for him. I am still asking in surveys to bring back old event weapons somehow, especially in a case like this where it was literally designed for him and he doesn't have a signature weapon despite being a limited 5*.
Knowing Genshin they will probably replace him to wanderer cuz he is more popular and make albedo a main character but way less dialogues, as someone who loved albedo and still do I have no faith in Genshin anymore and would rather read a fanfic if that ever happened
They should have added geo and cryo réactions to dendro, they've killed cryo at this point, they seem to hate that element the most no 5 star cyro characters run in 7 patches soon 8

Albedo should have been standard banner. some of his cons make 0 sense, like his c4 increases plunge attack damage? His flower is bad for trying to plunge as you can only get on the flower like once to plunge per e.. he also has a 4* weapon as his signature that is unobtainable. all standard banner characters except 2 have no 5* weapon he just is such a random character and geo doesnt help him.

They need to have a game mode that uses the Ley Lines to access events that are over a year old. You could download them individually and access limited weapons if you missed them. Albedo has already been pushed out of the meta, at least give new players access to his signature weapon.
I’m so sad about Albedo too 😭 I’m a 1.0 player and got him on his first ever banner. He’s one of my favorite characters. The geo renaissance was so good, I miss Geo Supremacy. I had such a great time using my Albedo with my super invested and cracked build. The thing that really kills him for me is his flower breaking almost instantly with bosses. It makes it so hard to use him and his teams sometimes. The Albedo winter events were so good too. It’s crazy that we still don’t know what happened with Susbedo. And the stuff about “if I destroy Mondstadt, would you stop me?” I’m really hoping they’re saving his story and lore for something in the future, kinda like what they did for Childe in Fontaine. They did tease that Durin is awakening, and that Scara and Mini Durin will need to help Albedo defeat him. Please another Albedo winter event Hoyo, I would be so happy.
Albedo is my 3rd ever triple crowned unit on my account, imo he never fell off cuz I made him a dps unit and I loved him so much his limited weapon is the first weapon to be lvl 90ed on my account. I'm still waiting for Jade Cutter to come back to give it to him.
I feel like they could easily bring back Albedo through a 5 star signature weapon if they wanted to. He has enough specific aspects to his kit that they could make him one that is really strong for him but not too great for Chiori. Make it so he gets/gives damage/buffing through his construct getting broken (with an automatic resummmon of it too ideally), or give him buffing based on how fast he can trigger crystalize since that’s one of the things he’s actually good at with his high geo application rate.

@deepindigo1937 c6 gorou, c0 furina, ningguang with prototype amber and 4pc maiden to boost fanfare and activate c6 gorou's maximum buffs! (TLDR: Gorou E+Q > Ning E > albedo E> furina E+Q > Ning Q > Albedo Q) Throw down gorou's E+Q, then use Ningguang E and run through it with albedo, place albedo E and he will snapshot gorou's defense and Ningguang's geo buffs. Furina's buffs apply dynamically so you don't have to replace albedo's flower to get those buffs. Now you furina E+Q, and Ningguang Q and albedo's is fully buffed! My albedo also has a reaaaaaally good golden troop set ✨️

The Albedo version kinda needs an on fielder a bit more haha (I use this team with itto too so I'm just used to off field healer being needed. And Ningguang as a healer doesn't benefit from talent or level investment so I can get away with barely building her)
Due to the weapons being limited, it makes this character feel more irrelevant, Albedo could probably have a step up if these limited weapons ever returned

*Albedo should have been the Geo standard 5-star character that we never had in the last 4 years.* (if not for the advertising laws in china, that is). His power level and constellations are that of a standard character. his materials are easily accessible in Mondstadt, so getting him early in the game is ok. it’s weird imo that geo doesn’t have a 5* representative standard character until now. it’s not like geo is so amazing anyway. It’s one of the worst elements in the game in fact. So, getting albedo at the start of the game wouldn’t break the game. Albedo as Standard character would make sense while Chiori would be the premium limited version of Albedo.
they could give people a free limited 5 star selector for every albedo they pulled and no one would complain since the only reason the law exists is so that you can´t lose your investment, that way you get back what you spend in a way

I still use him in my Noelle triple Geo teams, with 5.1 came a glimmer of hope with the Weapon banner; his BiS and a good support weapon which Albedo can use. Always thought of Albedo as a really flexible character, maybe not the best option in many teams but he's easy to slap into almost any team. Had tons of fun with him on Xiao double geo team as well.
Right now the only way that I believe that Albedo could become meta is wiff they realease a new element that makes a reaction which geo and EM is an important stat for that (Khaenri’ah chapter with Rhimedottir as a playable character? )
@@dasytaylor my personal theory is that this new element will probably be like a Dendro 2, only reacting with the elements that dendro don’t interact (geo, anemo and cryo)
Hopefully he will rerun in 5.2 with a new 5* signature weapon. Imagine a passive where if he creates a construct it can’t be destroyed and it has ramping up damage for each second it stays in field. Please hoyo!! He’s my favourite character. With Chiori showing up before him it might be a sign that they might make him more desirable and stronger and more suitable for none mono geo teams.
He's still peak Lore/Story wise though. Hopefully hoyo releases new versions of characters in the future. Would love to pull Susbedo as an actual unit.
It's really their own god damn fault as well. They could at any point have fixed things so that his flower didn't get nuked by a boss who as much as look at it, or make it so that his skill at least hits sheilded enemies. But no, instead his bug fix/buff is called Chiori and even without her C1 she is way better on my Noelle team.
Tbh it's a shame he's so horrible meta wise when his design is so pretty. Maybe they could add a geo DPS that benefits off lots of constructs being up but I still doubt that would make him desirable
@@Juice-chan He has potential to be great in the future, but it would take a very specific type of character. EIther a Cryo Claymore DPS or Geo DPS that benefits from the Shatter reaction, since Shatter scales from EM. We could potentially see it happen in Snezhnaya. Would be great if Snezhnaya characters made the bad Cryo reactions (Superconduct and Shatter) actually good, and if we got overall improvements to Cryo usability. Would be really cool using Geo + Cryo together and making Physical teams good. We need the Albedo and Eula glowups so bad.
@@Juice-chan An EM-scaling Geo DPS character is what Albedo needs. one who also benefits from having “grounded” constructs on the field so Chiori’s floating dolls won’t work.
@@skyhart9926Em scaling geo unit is a recipe for forgettable it's not the same when you have characters like nahida cuz they scale on Em on top of their reaction dmg scaling off of em while Geo scaling off of em would just result in a stronger crystalize shield that could take probably 3 more hilichurl attacks
@@candleplays8030 my dear, you’re forgetting genshin is a fictional game made by humans. there are always ways to make things work. nothing is impossible in a pixel, fantasy world. hoyoverse can make the EM-scaling Geo DPS dish out high damage via their EM while being shielded by Crystallize. the more EM stacked on him, the sturdier his Crystallize shields will be, and the higher his damage will be. And then maybe add a mechanic in his kit that if there are grounded constructs present on the field, his Crystallize shields would get even sturdier. And then maybe let him stack Crystallize shields so he can withstand more hilichurl attacks. It’s just an idea. Hoyo would have to balance numbers of course. Don’t think such ideas can’t be done. When one is lazy, there’s always an excuse. When one has the will, there’s always a way.
I still use him. He’s a good battery for Itto. Enables geo resonance. He got indirect buffs with the event weapon and Fontaine’s artifact set. With Furina in the team, he does 36-40k ticks of damage which hits in a small AOE which is kinda overlooked by many.
I started playing in 1.2. Got Jean on my first 10 pull on the beginner banner and got Albedo as my first limited 5 star. Dragonspine was my intro to this game back then. When I found out they both worked with Xiao I pulled him too. Still my favorite team to this day since I love these two characters so much. I can still clear abyss so the idea that I ever need to replace him hasn't ever felt necessary, and even then I just enjoy him too much. Even though I have both festering desire and cinnabar spindle, it still urks me that newer players will never get to experience not only those weapons, but the peak events. I've stepped away from this game for quite a while but recently got back into it and it's still my experience with him that I look back at as my favorite.
To this day, I still personally want Albedo for my account. Not for any meta reasons, I just don't like Chiori LOL. No point in me getting that one. But him being relegated to that stupid banner with Eula basically means I can't ever get him. Now his stupid R5 event weapon is left to pick up dust in my account. At least Xilonen will use it? A bit? Not really but it's somethin? Oof Also, this might be my personal opinion, but I thiiink you might be over-estimating Albedo's place in the previous meta states. It wasn't that he was good in Xiao teams, he really never was, he was just "the only option," because Xiao had *that* little number of supports/teammates back then. Most ppl would replace him fully with a Bennett. Or even a TTODS Mona. Hu Tao and Noelle/Itto teams were the only places where he couldn't be easily replaced. And believe me, no one could wait to replace Albedo in Hu Tao teams. There's a couple of reasons, this one included, why Tankfei was created. Replace Zhongli with a C4 Yanfei with full HP, and Albedo with a Sucrose or a Kazuha. Genuinely, everyone wanted Albedo off Hu Tao teams
I'm sure they'll expand on Albedos lore given how much they've ramped up the involvement of the Hexanzirkel? (Spelling?) My sliver of hope is that once they've relased the cryo archon and finished 6.x we'll start seeing some new mechanic where they can revive the kits of old 1.x characters
Hoyo does revamp in Honkai, they have "alternate" kits you can turn on and off. They could do that for Albedo and no one would be upset bc all players get to use whichever version of his kit they prefer
The only way to bring albedo back is either through the "supposed 8th element" which can react with geo in a useful way making use of his em passive or create new elements. If hoyoverse needs a new conflict in the story then they can make something like corruption where some force is corrupting visions giving them unique reactions like the corrupted geo could react to dendro or electro giving albedos passive a good use
as a Xaio main I remember when I was using albedo to buff my plunge attack but then xainyun, faruzan, and furina, Had to appear then chiori was the icing on the cake you will be missed albedo
I'll be honest albedo was never good and in 2.3 mihoyo doubled his damage with a new weapon new set and a support(gorou) and he still sucks Even at the start people didn't pull on his banner for him but for the 4 star (it was Bennett fischl sucrose) BTW i have albedo crowned with a great build and bis 4 star weapon i didn't even use him in the Imaginarium theater where he could shine i used kachina which btw also an albedo power creep she does maybe less damage but give the team 40% more damage from the scroll set enough to be considered better than albedo
It's really sad how we probably won't get a third combat passive. I feel like there is so much creativity that would allow Albedo to shine. Something that allows Albedo to support while having okay damage. Maybe have him give em to everyone based on his defense stat (including himself) and make him buff the unit that obtains a crystalize shield. I don't think he would be the top of top tier, but he would have a niche to distinguish him from Chiori outside of him being able to work with Xilonen.
I would absolutely love to play the events I missed. I know I can watch them but it's not rhe same. Plus, those event weapons and rewards should be available.
im just coping.... that if they indeed release lvl 100 and give all characters their final passive. i hope its a passive that changes his flower to be a floating geo construct like chiori and increases his flower blooms to each hit and not just every 2 seconds.... also update his C6 where each time a geo crystal is formed inside it a flower will bloom damaging enemies around it and its def scaling is double.
Albedo never got proper constellations that work with his kit, nor a tailored Star weapon or even an artifact set. His kit is all over the place too and then his damage is less than a badly built furina... They also never bothered to fix his constructs which you can't even place in some arenas :( If they ever do rereleases with new sets i hope hes the first one to get it and finally bring him up to competitive support with a proper kit
Uraku and Cinnabar are his BiS at different rarities. He has Golden Troupe and Husk to work with His damage being worse than an Archon's isn't really a point of contention considering Furina is busted Also, they did try to fix it with the Ruin Drakes but it wasn't enough because boss hitbox mechanics are bad in this game, the only arena where you can't place it are the Oceanid ones and that one event with the huge Samachurl but that's a construct thing
@@salceds uraku is not his weapon it just happens to suit him sorta like mistsplitter and HoD. Cinnabar is his BiS but unavailable to anyone that didnt play the event that was 2 years ago... Golden Troupe and Husk are both not tailor made, they buff his skill but dont interact with the other parts of the kit. Furina is doing way more damage while providing hydro application and a giant damage buff to everyone in the party. Albedo does less dps, is range limited, doesnt apply hydro and neither buffs teammates to anywhere close the same field. Not to mention his useless burst that even has quadratic scaling but still cant compete. The constructs of most characters weve gotten now are moveable and indestructible but dont you dare place an albedo flower 2 feet to close to the enemy or they move around alot because it will instantly be made useless. And because all of this doesnt make him bad enough he is cursed with being old gen geo, the most useless element in the game. Gimmick of producing shields in a meta where multiple enemies can damage right trough them or even get buffed by them. It wouldnt be so sad if they were busted atleast but they are super squishy
@@hazeldsr Babes, you're just splitting hairs at this point Uraku is his 5-Star BiS now which is expected for someone released in 1.X. Same with the artifacts, he's gotten a buff with Husk, many characters that want to use their burst but most of their damage comes with their skill like Yae but GT is still their BiS. Also, again you're comparing a 4.0 Archon to a Geo unit in 1.X. Albedo requires more conscious placement but it isn't impossible to play him against bosses. Not to mention, Geo is about reducing damage and not getting interrupted, both that Crystallize helps with. Both of which are more relevant these days.

Albedo's a mainstay on my favourite geo team: redhorn Noelle, Chiori, Albedo, Furina. He does 20-30k and this team shreds any enemy without elemental shields

Imo chiori is albedo’s best partner, they just benefit each other so good: chiori gets geo construct so the second doll spawns, albedo gets a geo battery and attack driver for his flower field to attack

Same here, I was lazy building festering desire and never finished it. It’s rank 2 and I am so salty. Like it was during the time I was tired and frustrated with some of the mechanics of the game. So I eventually stopped playing and didn’t think I was gonna come back to it. Yet here I am now playing again, and I’m just so sad for Furina who could’ve used the full rank. Also Bennett too

Geo was kind of miss handled since the beging as their signature set felt really clunky, from the begining it felt like geo and anemo were designed as a pair, but looking back at their sets VV is a set that fills the gap on teams that need an off-fielder, while AP would have benefited teams that needed a driver, if we had a couple characters of the same element that needed a driver petra could have really shined, but the only combo that i cant think off would have been, noelle/fishl/beidou/anemo,
Could an Albedo, Xilonen, Furina, new pyro DPS with more nuke heavy playstyle work? I feel like there is some potential in his EM buff and geo resonance, we just don't have the pieces yet
As somone who's favourite character is Albedo and only pulled him in 4.5 I have to admit, he is Hoyo's least favourite child and has no poll value. I'm still gonna give him Chiori's weapon just for fun but, but man it hurts me every day that I can't have his sword for drip reasons. But the worst thing is that every time Hoyo let's us use Chiori she is equiped with Cinabar Spindle, indicating they did NOT forget about it's existance, yet they forgot about Albedo himself.
I wanna have some massive copium that maybe soon Genshin devs might make available previous weapon events + refinements somewhere in the game because HSR team is finally including it in their game next version, and lately Genshin has been implementing the QoL stuff too the other dev team did prior.
I still find Albedo to be better for Navia than Chiori. Navia already deals with single target extremely well, so his AoE complements her better than Chiori's single target damage. He also gives a lot more crystalize shards for Navia to nuke with. Also love using him with Childe when you have tightly grouped enemies. The numbers go brrrrrrrrrr.
He’s become the only character I regret pulling for. Geo was in a bad spot already when he and Eula’s banner came out, but I thought that at some point hoyo would address this. As you mentioned, they kinda did with itto, but by the time Fontaine dropped chiori I knew it was the end for him. I’m still going to build him for Noelle bc I don’t have a geo team currently, but I don’t see a reason to invest in geo characters at this point. They need to adjust his kit or just put him on the shelf in the standard banner so we can lose our 50/50s to him.
the way i’ve had albedo since version 2 (when his 2nd dragonspine event came out, so thank god i managed to r5 cinnabar) and the way i only found a place for him in my teams when i got neuvilette and furina… but let’s be real, it’s the two of them carrying that team (neuvilette/furina/albedo/jean. it functions just fine with albedo. in certain abyss cycles, it works *better* without albedo in the flex spot. it’s such a shame, too! albedo used to be my favorite genshin character but they’re doing him dirty with his kit and they’re doing him dirty with the lack of events. hyv, free my boy 😔

Albedo is the key for my C6 Noelle. He is perfect for maintaining her burst uptime 100%. He generates geo particles, and 100% of it funneled to Noelle without me doing anything to swap and intercept the particles. Even if his construct is destroyed, 4s cooldown kinda makes up for that. The only real issue he has is when it cannot be placed at all. But come on, other characters also have some annoying issues, like Guoba targeting the main hypostasis core instead of his prisms, or Venti not being able to group heavy enemies, or Raiden's E not triggering when you only damage shields.
My favourite geo team is Noelle Albedo Chiori Furina. Albedo not only deals good damage, he provides a construct for Chiori. Furina buffs everyone and Noelle is on redhorn. This team rinses any enemy without elemental shields
I honestly think people misunderstand how his kit was intended to be used. I think he was meant to be a Geo Kazuha before Kazuha. While Crystalize is bad, no one does Crystalize better than Albedo. Archaic Petra was designed to be as powerful as Viridescent Venerer but didn't due to very minor things (picking up shards is worse than merely swirling, DMG% is worse than Shred, it has to be the user who picks up the shards). I think if his C2 and C6 were swapped he would have had much greater value. His lack of unique signature weapon is part of the issue, but the fact that he was once rerun with Freedom Sworn makes me think that is Hoyo's "signature" for him in part. And it makes sense. If he was meant to be a crystalize shielder (healer slot) then EM would be good on him. If his C6 was C2 and you had Petra and Freedom Sworn and Geo Resonance that would be a very easy 67 DMG%, 82% Normal Charged, 113% Plunging with C4, and 20% ATK. That's not bad at all for a HEALER slot in. I think Albedo can still be saved with an actual usable new artifact set like Archaic Petra, and with a new unique signature that better synergizes with his kit. A signature that gives a team buff and gives DEF based off EM would allow him to be a genuine crystalize healer/buffer similar to how Xilonen is now. Like Yelan and XQ, TWO Xilonens would be great. I don't think Albedo is dead dead... just waiting (like Durin). Especially since the summer event suggests things are actually going to finally pick up regarding the winter event storyline. Also it would be funny if Albedo kept getting new signatures that are progressively more powerful because... ya know... alchemy... refining it. Actually you know what I think Xilonen might save Albedo. Xilonen is 1/2 of Geo Resonance but no other Geo character can buff except Albedo. Kachina won't have value because you can't have 2 buffs of the Natlan set. You could go Zhongli but Albedo's EM buff and crystalize plus XIlonen's healing would probably already be enough. XIlonen+Albedo might actually be a good combination.
Mhyo missed the opportunity to finally have triple geo banner, atleast they could have an excuse to finally rerun old characters instead of locking them in a dungeon for many years, as soon as i saw that weapon banner my first thoughts is finally a 5star weapon for my Albedo
He's my absolute favourite character, this video was an absolute stomp fest on my hopes for him 🥺 I'm of the opinion that Hoyo should go back and improve past 5 stars instead of diluting the character pool so quickly. Albedo, Venti, Klee and Diluc very much need some improvements to their kit, some of the best characters lore and design wise being left behind like this feels like such a waste. Though i do have hopes for them when Mondstat inevitably gets an expansion.
Yeah, Star rail is pretty harsh when it comes to powercreep, at least compared to genshin. The only "filler" character that ended up really strong was Boothill in 2.2, and that's more on the fact he was the first true break dps (no, Firefly doesn't powercreep him) 1.6-2.2 was particularly brutal, hello Sparkle getting powercrept in like 2 months

Weapons are r5 cinnabar spindle, Chiori's signature weapon, Mistplitter, or 3 star harbinger of dawn if you're broke. Natlan craftable is an option, but it's harder to build and more expensive than harbinger, thus worse, in my opinion. All of the other weapons in the game don't synergize with his kit and basically don't exist. Artifacts are golden troupe, or the husk set. They rank similarly depending on build, use whichever one's more convenient for your resin or has better substats. Or you can go 2pc2pc. A mix of 2pc troupe, 2pc husk, or 2pc petra. Artifacts are def sands, geo dmg bonus goblet, crit circlet. You can even reasonably cope with a good def circlet if you got a crit weapon. Substat priority is a good crit ratio, then defense. You want to have atleast 2k defense. Energy recharge doesn't matter, his burst costs only 40 energy, and you can skip it anyway with no consequences. Atk doesn't matter either, his skill scales on def only, not unlike dual scaling Chiori. Okay techinically, his burst does scale with only atk, but the dmg of his burst is so poopoo, to the point it's not even worth doing a split scaling Albedo. Pure defense is best. When it comes to talents, skill matters most. Burst can be left level 1, or 6-8 if you feel like using it, it doesn't matter. In my opinion, Albedo is one of the simplest character to build. Even my kind of doodoo build with an unleveled feather and only 110 crit dmg, still does 20k damage per tick. I love it, lol.
@@wooshbait6023 adding to this, Xilonen's signature is looking to be excelent on him as well, not his highest for personal damage but still a solid def% weapon while enabling buffing capabilities for the whole team while he deals passive damage. That weapon can also enable a full support build for him discarding completely his personal damage in pro to give the team benefits. As for how much defense Albedo needs, you mention 2k defense, a more ideal number is between 2.4-2.6k so he's the closest to 3k as possible for higher personal damage, tho ofc it also depends on roll luck and the artifact set you're running as HooD is more likely to build defense easier than GT. In the topic of defense with Xilonen's sword, you would want him to get 3.2k defense to get max stacks on the teamwide buff. Weapon itself can help with its own stacking but it's something to keep in mind with his artifact stats to capitalize on it.
Albedo was a result if Hoyoverse gaving no idea what they wanted to do with Albedo as the game matured. As evident of his random EM boost and split scaling on skill and ult. Add in the fact that he is just MAD uncomfortable to use, because if you step on his flower during combat, you're above the enemies and not able to hit them, and most egregiously, the fact that his skill flower can be destroyed at any given moment by bosses. Forcing you to either interupt a team rotation to redeploy it, or live with the fact that you're not getting Sub-dps today. It's crazy to me that they never did something to fix that. He's simply not worth using.
I got Albedo on his 2nd or 3rd rerun I think, used him with my Xiao team but I don't use Xiao anymore so I found no use for Albedo. What I hate about his kit is that his skill is easy to break, circle impact isn't a problem because his skill has very low cooldown.
I just want them to bring the events back. Im newish to the game. I dont think its fair and makes sense that VITAL lore is locked away because i just so happened to not play the game at the time.🤷🏽♀️ Even a small recap video, in game (because I shouldn't have to look for game lore outside of the game), to explain these events would be tolerable. For zzz I'm pretty sure Jane doe is one of the best I don't even have 5 star disk drives unlocked and I consistently hit 50-60k assaults in story quests which is wild cause I only have a 4 piece on her
There is a specific set of early characters like him, around that Zhongli era where i think they just don't know what to do. If he had a actual signature that would be cool, but i think the best is to hope for Lore, and Lore wise this last summer event told me very directly that sooner than later Dragonspine will get a big piece of the story. That said i think your take is a bit wrong at the end, one of the best things about Genshin is how they revive older characters, maybe not becoming totally meta again but say for instance with how Jean has a purpose now, Diluc as well (thanks to Xianyun) Mona finally getting more a purpose with Mulani etc, he just in a particularly hard spot. Generally they try to take care of all their old characters so saying its fine isn't fine, they have a good track record of doing better and its one of the best things about Genshin. Not being meta is fine but irrelevancy isn't. Also feel for you, out of all the characters in the game his IG and his art do not match up like they should, he only vaguely looks like it at all in moments where he squints a little, IG hes just goofy looking.

As an Albedo haver, this hurts me on a personal level
Albedo is one of my favorites and using him again on some teams lately (didn't experienced those peak teams back in the early days because I didn't have one of those characters mentioned or having a hard time building up characters during that time). Also played both Peakbedo events and those weapons too.
He previously using Cinnabar Spindle but now he's using Chiori's sword (a fair upgrade in disguise) because they didn't gave me Redhorn for Noelle during Chiori's debut banner.
Also give us Susbedo (the better Albedo) as banner too.
One of his biggest problems I've found is his construct is way too easy to break. They really should make those unbreakable. It hurt him badly with bosses. I love him, never regretted getting him, and hate how I just don't have a place for him on my teams.

Albedo should have been standard banner. some of his cons make 0 sense, like his c4 increases plunge attack damage? His flower is bad for trying to plunge as you can only get on the flower like once to plunge per e.. he also has a 4* weapon as his signature that is unobtainable. all standard banner characters except 2 have no 5* weapon he just is such a random character and geo doesnt help him.
Honestly I felt that they drank too much before making his character because the creativity is insane.

They need to have a game mode that uses the Ley Lines to access events that are over a year old. You could download them individually and access limited weapons if you missed them. Albedo has already been pushed out of the meta, at least give new players access to his signature weapon.
I’m so sad about Albedo too 😭 I’m a 1.0 player and got him on his first ever banner. He’s one of my favorite characters. The geo renaissance was so good, I miss Geo Supremacy. I had such a great time using my Albedo with my super invested and cracked build. The thing that really kills him for me is his flower breaking almost instantly with bosses. It makes it so hard to use him and his teams sometimes. The Albedo winter events were so good too. It’s crazy that we still don’t know what happened with Susbedo. And the stuff about “if I destroy Mondstadt, would you stop me?” I’m really hoping they’re saving his story and lore for something in the future, kinda like what they did for Childe in Fontaine. They did tease that Durin is awakening, and that Scara and Mini Durin will need to help Albedo defeat him. Please another Albedo winter event Hoyo, I would be so happy.
Albedo is my 3rd ever triple crowned unit on my account, imo he never fell off cuz I made him a dps unit and I loved him so much his limited weapon is the first weapon to be lvl 90ed on my account. I'm still waiting for Jade Cutter to come back to give it to him.
Albedo is the sole reason I began the game this summer, it just saddens me to see him so neglected
I feel like they could easily bring back Albedo through a 5 star signature weapon if they wanted to. He has enough specific aspects to his kit that they could make him one that is really strong for him but not too great for Chiori. Make it so he gets/gives damage/buffing through his construct getting broken (with an automatic resummmon of it too ideally), or give him buffing based on how fast he can trigger crystalize since that’s one of the things he’s actually good at with his high geo application rate.

(TLDR: Gorou E+Q > Ning E > albedo E> furina E+Q > Ning Q > Albedo Q)
Throw down gorou's E+Q, then use Ningguang E and run through it with albedo, place albedo E and he will snapshot gorou's defense and Ningguang's geo buffs. Furina's buffs apply dynamically so you don't have to replace albedo's flower to get those buffs. Now you furina E+Q, and Ningguang Q and albedo's is fully buffed! My albedo also has a reaaaaaally good golden troop set ✨️
Why Ningguang? Wouldn't Noelle be unironically better as a healer AND dps in that team?

The Albedo version kinda needs an on fielder a bit more haha (I use this team with itto too so I'm just used to off field healer being needed. And Ningguang as a healer doesn't benefit from talent or level investment so I can get away with barely building her)
Due to the weapons being limited, it makes this character feel more irrelevant, Albedo could probably have a step up if these limited weapons ever returned

*Albedo should have been the Geo standard 5-star character that we never had in the last 4 years.* (if not for the advertising laws in china, that is).
His power level and constellations are that of a standard character. his materials are easily accessible in Mondstadt, so getting him early in the game is ok. it’s weird imo that geo doesn’t have a 5* representative standard character until now. it’s not like geo is so amazing anyway. It’s one of the worst elements in the game in fact. So, getting albedo at the start of the game wouldn’t break the game.
Albedo as Standard character would make sense while Chiori would be the premium limited version of Albedo.
they could give people a free limited 5 star selector for every albedo they pulled and no one would complain since the only reason the law exists is so that you can´t lose your investment, that way you get back what you spend in a way

I still use him in my Noelle triple Geo teams, with 5.1 came a glimmer of hope with the Weapon banner; his BiS and a good support weapon which Albedo can use.
Always thought of Albedo as a really flexible character, maybe not the best option in many teams but he's easy to slap into almost any team. Had tons of fun with him on Xiao double geo team as well.
Right now the only way that I believe that Albedo could become meta is wiff they realease a new element that makes a reaction which geo and EM is an important stat for that (Khaenri’ah chapter with Rhimedottir as a playable character? )

Hopefully he will rerun in 5.2 with a new 5* signature weapon. Imagine a passive where if he creates a construct it can’t be destroyed and it has ramping up damage for each second it stays in field. Please hoyo!! He’s my favourite character. With Chiori showing up before him it might be a sign that they might make him more desirable and stronger and more suitable for none mono geo teams.

As a Christmas gift of 2021, Albedo was my first 5-star unit that I own. I got him on his debut banner in Version 1.2.
It's really their own god damn fault as well. They could at any point have fixed things so that his flower didn't get nuked by a boss who as much as look at it, or make it so that his skill at least hits sheilded enemies. But no, instead his bug fix/buff is called Chiori and even without her C1 she is way better on my Noelle team.
Tbh it's a shame he's so horrible meta wise when his design is so pretty. Maybe they could add a geo DPS that benefits off lots of constructs being up but I still doubt that would make him desirable

EIther a Cryo Claymore DPS or Geo DPS that benefits from the Shatter reaction, since Shatter scales from EM. We could potentially see it happen in Snezhnaya. Would be great if Snezhnaya characters made the bad Cryo reactions (Superconduct and Shatter) actually good, and if we got overall improvements to Cryo usability. Would be really cool using Geo + Cryo together and making Physical teams good. We need the Albedo and Eula glowups so bad.

hoyoverse can make the EM-scaling Geo DPS dish out high damage via their EM while being shielded by Crystallize. the more EM stacked on him, the sturdier his Crystallize shields will be, and the higher his damage will be.
And then maybe add a mechanic in his kit that if there are grounded constructs present on the field, his Crystallize shields would get even sturdier.
And then maybe let him stack Crystallize shields so he can withstand more hilichurl attacks. It’s just an idea. Hoyo would have to balance numbers of course.
Don’t think such ideas can’t be done. When one is lazy, there’s always an excuse. When one has the will, there’s always a way.
Who knows, maybe albedo will have a transformation🤷♂️ (like dan heng in hsr)

I still use him. He’s a good battery for Itto. Enables geo resonance. He got indirect buffs with the event weapon and Fontaine’s artifact set. With Furina in the team, he does 36-40k ticks of damage which hits in a small AOE which is kinda overlooked by many.

I started playing in 1.2. Got Jean on my first 10 pull on the beginner banner and got Albedo as my first limited 5 star. Dragonspine was my intro to this game back then. When I found out they both worked with Xiao I pulled him too. Still my favorite team to this day since I love these two characters so much.
I can still clear abyss so the idea that I ever need to replace him hasn't ever felt necessary, and even then I just enjoy him too much. Even though I have both festering desire and cinnabar spindle, it still urks me that newer players will never get to experience not only those weapons, but the peak events. I've stepped away from this game for quite a while but recently got back into it and it's still my experience with him that I look back at as my favorite.

Also, this might be my personal opinion, but I thiiink you might be over-estimating Albedo's place in the previous meta states. It wasn't that he was good in Xiao teams, he really never was, he was just "the only option," because Xiao had *that* little number of supports/teammates back then. Most ppl would replace him fully with a Bennett. Or even a TTODS Mona. Hu Tao and Noelle/Itto teams were the only places where he couldn't be easily replaced. And believe me, no one could wait to replace Albedo in Hu Tao teams. There's a couple of reasons, this one included, why Tankfei was created. Replace Zhongli with a C4 Yanfei with full HP, and Albedo with a Sucrose or a Kazuha. Genuinely, everyone wanted Albedo off Hu Tao teams

The only way to bring albedo back is either through the "supposed 8th element" which can react with geo in a useful way making use of his em passive or create new elements.
If hoyoverse needs a new conflict in the story then they can make something like corruption where some force is corrupting visions giving them unique reactions like the corrupted geo could react to dendro or electro giving albedos passive a good use
as a Xaio main I remember when I was using albedo to buff my plunge attack but then xainyun, faruzan, and furina, Had to appear then chiori was the icing on the cake you will be missed albedo
I'll be honest albedo was never good and in 2.3 mihoyo doubled his damage with a new weapon new set and a support(gorou) and he still sucks
Even at the start people didn't pull on his banner for him but for the 4 star (it was Bennett fischl sucrose)
BTW i have albedo crowned with a great build and bis 4 star weapon i didn't even use him in the Imaginarium theater where he could shine i used kachina which btw also an albedo power creep she does maybe less damage but give the team 40% more damage from the scroll set enough to be considered better than albedo
It's really sad how we probably won't get a third combat passive. I feel like there is so much creativity that would allow Albedo to shine. Something that allows Albedo to support while having okay damage. Maybe have him give em to everyone based on his defense stat (including himself) and make him buff the unit that obtains a crystalize shield.
I don't think he would be the top of top tier, but he would have a niche to distinguish him from Chiori outside of him being able to work with Xilonen.
I would absolutely love to play the events I missed. I know I can watch them but it's not rhe same. Plus, those event weapons and rewards should be available.
im just coping.... that if they indeed release lvl 100 and give all characters their final passive. i hope its a passive that changes his flower to be a floating geo construct like chiori and increases his flower blooms to each hit and not just every 2 seconds.... also update his C6 where each time a geo crystal is formed inside it a flower will bloom damaging enemies around it and its def scaling is double.

Albedo never got proper constellations that work with his kit, nor a tailored Star weapon or even an artifact set.
His kit is all over the place too and then his damage is less than a badly built furina...
They also never bothered to fix his constructs which you can't even place in some arenas :(

His damage being worse than an Archon's isn't really a point of contention considering Furina is busted
Also, they did try to fix it with the Ruin Drakes but it wasn't enough because boss hitbox mechanics are bad in this game, the only arena where you can't place it are the Oceanid ones and that one event with the huge Samachurl but that's a construct thing

Golden Troupe and Husk are both not tailor made, they buff his skill but dont interact with the other parts of the kit.
Furina is doing way more damage while providing hydro application and a giant damage buff to everyone in the party.
Albedo does less dps, is range limited, doesnt apply hydro and neither buffs teammates to anywhere close the same field.
Not to mention his useless burst that even has quadratic scaling but still cant compete.
The constructs of most characters weve gotten now are moveable and indestructible but dont you dare place an albedo flower 2 feet to close to the enemy or they move around alot because it will instantly be made useless.
And because all of this doesnt make him bad enough he is cursed with being old gen geo, the most useless element in the game. Gimmick of producing shields in a meta where multiple enemies can damage right trough them or even get buffed by them. It wouldnt be so sad if they were busted atleast but they are super squishy

Uraku is his 5-Star BiS now which is expected for someone released in 1.X. Same with the artifacts, he's gotten a buff with Husk, many characters that want to use their burst but most of their damage comes with their skill like Yae but GT is still their BiS.
Also, again you're comparing a 4.0 Archon to a Geo unit in 1.X.
Albedo requires more conscious placement but it isn't impossible to play him against bosses.
Not to mention, Geo is about reducing damage and not getting interrupted, both that Crystallize helps with. Both of which are more relevant these days.

Albedo's a mainstay on my favourite geo team: redhorn Noelle, Chiori, Albedo, Furina. He does 20-30k and this team shreds any enemy without elemental shields

Imo chiori is albedo’s best partner, they just benefit each other so good: chiori gets geo construct so the second doll spawns, albedo gets a geo battery and attack driver for his flower field to attack
Same here, I was lazy building festering desire and never finished it. It’s rank 2 and I am so salty. Like it was during the time I was tired and frustrated with some of the mechanics of the game. So I eventually stopped playing and didn’t think I was gonna come back to it. Yet here I am now playing again, and I’m just so sad for Furina who could’ve used the full rank. Also Bennett too

One bug problem with albedo is his burst not scaling of def. I dont even have albedo but whenever he comes around I will def pull him hes still my fav chalk prince

According to leaks albedo will actually get a rerun in 5.2 as the main event of that patch is dragonspine themed

Geo was kind of miss handled since the beging as their signature set felt really clunky, from the begining it felt like geo and anemo were designed as a pair, but looking back at their sets VV is a set that fills the gap on teams that need an off-fielder, while AP would have benefited teams that needed a driver, if we had a couple characters of the same element that needed a driver petra could have really shined, but the only combo that i cant think off would have been, noelle/fishl/beidou/anemo,
the only case you have to use Albedo instead Chiori: *need 1 geo off-field dps*
I use my Albedo all the time. Honestly very often pick him over chiori because he’s more simple to use and his flower stays on field for longer.
Could an Albedo, Xilonen, Furina, new pyro DPS with more nuke heavy playstyle work? I feel like there is some potential in his EM buff and geo resonance, we just don't have the pieces yet
if they bring his weapon back i might consider pulling for him, but we all know that aint happening.

As somone who's favourite character is Albedo and only pulled him in 4.5 I have to admit, he is Hoyo's least favourite child and has no poll value. I'm still gonna give him Chiori's weapon just for fun but, but man it hurts me every day that I can't have his sword for drip reasons. But the worst thing is that every time Hoyo let's us use Chiori she is equiped with Cinabar Spindle, indicating they did NOT forget about it's existance, yet they forgot about Albedo himself.
I wanna have some massive copium that maybe soon Genshin devs might make available previous weapon events + refinements somewhere in the game because HSR team is finally including it in their game next version, and lately Genshin has been implementing the QoL stuff too the other dev team did prior.
I still find Albedo to be better for Navia than Chiori. Navia already deals with single target extremely well, so his AoE complements her better than Chiori's single target damage. He also gives a lot more crystalize shards for Navia to nuke with. Also love using him with Childe when you have tightly grouped enemies. The numbers go brrrrrrrrrr.
He’s become the only character I regret pulling for. Geo was in a bad spot already when he and Eula’s banner came out, but I thought that at some point hoyo would address this. As you mentioned, they kinda did with itto, but by the time Fontaine dropped chiori I knew it was the end for him. I’m still going to build him for Noelle bc I don’t have a geo team currently, but I don’t see a reason to invest in geo characters at this point. They need to adjust his kit or just put him on the shelf in the standard banner so we can lose our 50/50s to him.
the way i’ve had albedo since version 2 (when his 2nd dragonspine event came out, so thank god i managed to r5 cinnabar) and the way i only found a place for him in my teams when i got neuvilette and furina… but let’s be real, it’s the two of them carrying that team (neuvilette/furina/albedo/jean. it functions just fine with albedo. in certain abyss cycles, it works *better* without albedo in the flex spot.
it’s such a shame, too! albedo used to be my favorite genshin character but they’re doing him dirty with his kit and they’re doing him dirty with the lack of events. hyv, free my boy 😔

Albedo is the key for my C6 Noelle. He is perfect for maintaining her burst uptime 100%. He generates geo particles, and 100% of it funneled to Noelle without me doing anything to swap and intercept the particles. Even if his construct is destroyed, 4s cooldown kinda makes up for that. The only real issue he has is when it cannot be placed at all. But come on, other characters also have some annoying issues, like Guoba targeting the main hypostasis core instead of his prisms, or Venti not being able to group heavy enemies, or Raiden's E not triggering when you only damage shields.
My favourite geo team is Noelle Albedo Chiori Furina. Albedo not only deals good damage, he provides a construct for Chiori. Furina buffs everyone and Noelle is on redhorn. This team rinses any enemy without elemental shields
I honestly think people misunderstand how his kit was intended to be used. I think he was meant to be a Geo Kazuha before Kazuha. While Crystalize is bad, no one does Crystalize better than Albedo. Archaic Petra was designed to be as powerful as Viridescent Venerer but didn't due to very minor things (picking up shards is worse than merely swirling, DMG% is worse than Shred, it has to be the user who picks up the shards). I think if his C2 and C6 were swapped he would have had much greater value.
His lack of unique signature weapon is part of the issue, but the fact that he was once rerun with Freedom Sworn makes me think that is Hoyo's "signature" for him in part. And it makes sense. If he was meant to be a crystalize shielder (healer slot) then EM would be good on him. If his C6 was C2 and you had Petra and Freedom Sworn and Geo Resonance that would be a very easy 67 DMG%, 82% Normal Charged, 113% Plunging with C4, and 20% ATK. That's not bad at all for a HEALER slot in.
I think Albedo can still be saved with an actual usable new artifact set like Archaic Petra, and with a new unique signature that better synergizes with his kit. A signature that gives a team buff and gives DEF based off EM would allow him to be a genuine crystalize healer/buffer similar to how Xilonen is now. Like Yelan and XQ, TWO Xilonens would be great. I don't think Albedo is dead dead... just waiting (like Durin). Especially since the summer event suggests things are actually going to finally pick up regarding the winter event storyline.
Also it would be funny if Albedo kept getting new signatures that are progressively more powerful because... ya know... alchemy... refining it.
Actually you know what I think Xilonen might save Albedo. Xilonen is 1/2 of Geo Resonance but no other Geo character can buff except Albedo. Kachina won't have value because you can't have 2 buffs of the Natlan set. You could go Zhongli but Albedo's EM buff and crystalize plus XIlonen's healing would probably already be enough. XIlonen+Albedo might actually be a good combination.
Mhyo missed the opportunity to finally have triple geo banner, atleast they could have an excuse to finally rerun old characters instead of locking them in a dungeon for many years, as soon as i saw that weapon banner my first thoughts is finally a 5star weapon for my Albedo

I'm of the opinion that Hoyo should go back and improve past 5 stars instead of diluting the character pool so quickly. Albedo, Venti, Klee and Diluc very much need some improvements to their kit, some of the best characters lore and design wise being left behind like this feels like such a waste. Though i do have hopes for them when Mondstat inevitably gets an expansion.

Yeah, Star rail is pretty harsh when it comes to powercreep, at least compared to genshin. The only "filler" character that ended up really strong was Boothill in 2.2, and that's more on the fact he was the first true break dps (no, Firefly doesn't powercreep him)

Weapons are r5 cinnabar spindle, Chiori's signature weapon, Mistplitter, or 3 star harbinger of dawn if you're broke. Natlan craftable is an option, but it's harder to build and more expensive than harbinger, thus worse, in my opinion. All of the other weapons in the game don't synergize with his kit and basically don't exist.
Artifacts are golden troupe, or the husk set. They rank similarly depending on build, use whichever one's more convenient for your resin or has better substats. Or you can go 2pc2pc. A mix of 2pc troupe, 2pc husk, or 2pc petra.
Artifacts are def sands, geo dmg bonus goblet, crit circlet. You can even reasonably cope with a good def circlet if you got a crit weapon.
Substat priority is a good crit ratio, then defense. You want to have atleast 2k defense. Energy recharge doesn't matter, his burst costs only 40 energy, and you can skip it anyway with no consequences. Atk doesn't matter either, his skill scales on def only, not unlike dual scaling Chiori. Okay techinically, his burst does scale with only atk, but the dmg of his burst is so poopoo, to the point it's not even worth doing a split scaling Albedo. Pure defense is best.
When it comes to talents, skill matters most. Burst can be left level 1, or 6-8 if you feel like using it, it doesn't matter.
In my opinion, Albedo is one of the simplest character to build. Even my kind of doodoo build with an unleveled feather and only 110 crit dmg, still does 20k damage per tick. I love it, lol.
@@wooshbait6023 adding to this, Xilonen's signature is looking to be excelent on him as well, not his highest for personal damage but still a solid def% weapon while enabling buffing capabilities for the whole team while he deals passive damage. That weapon can also enable a full support build for him discarding completely his personal damage in pro to give the team benefits.
As for how much defense Albedo needs, you mention 2k defense, a more ideal number is between 2.4-2.6k so he's the closest to 3k as possible for higher personal damage, tho ofc it also depends on roll luck and the artifact set you're running as HooD is more likely to build defense easier than GT.
In the topic of defense with Xilonen's sword, you would want him to get 3.2k defense to get max stacks on the teamwide buff. Weapon itself can help with its own stacking but it's something to keep in mind with his artifact stats to capitalize on it.
I'll tell you the real reason. They saw his fangirl perecentage and knew they had to bury him.
Albedo was a result if Hoyoverse gaving no idea what they wanted to do with Albedo as the game matured. As evident of his random EM boost and split scaling on skill and ult. Add in the fact that he is just MAD uncomfortable to use, because if you step on his flower during combat, you're above the enemies and not able to hit them, and most egregiously, the fact that his skill flower can be destroyed at any given moment by bosses. Forcing you to either interupt a team rotation to redeploy it, or live with the fact that you're not getting Sub-dps today. It's crazy to me that they never did something to fix that. He's simply not worth using.

I got Albedo on his 2nd or 3rd rerun I think, used him with my Xiao team but I don't use Xiao anymore so I found no use for Albedo. What I hate about his kit is that his skill is easy to break, circle impact isn't a problem because his skill has very low cooldown.
I just want them to bring the events back. Im newish to the game. I dont think its fair and makes sense that VITAL lore is locked away because i just so happened to not play the game at the time.🤷🏽♀️
Even a small recap video, in game (because I shouldn't have to look for game lore outside of the game), to explain these events would be tolerable.

For zzz I'm pretty sure Jane doe is one of the best I don't even have 5 star disk drives unlocked and I consistently hit 50-60k assaults in story quests which is wild cause I only have a 4 piece on her
There is a specific set of early characters like him, around that Zhongli era where i think they just don't know what to do. If he had a actual signature that would be cool, but i think the best is to hope for Lore, and Lore wise this last summer event told me very directly that sooner than later Dragonspine will get a big piece of the story.
That said i think your take is a bit wrong at the end, one of the best things about Genshin is how they revive older characters, maybe not becoming totally meta again but say for instance with how Jean has a purpose now, Diluc as well (thanks to Xianyun) Mona finally getting more a purpose with Mulani etc, he just in a particularly hard spot. Generally they try to take care of all their old characters so saying its fine isn't fine, they have a good track record of doing better and its one of the best things about Genshin. Not being meta is fine but irrelevancy isn't.
Also feel for you, out of all the characters in the game his IG and his art do not match up like they should, he only vaguely looks like it at all in moments where he squints a little, IG hes just goofy looking.
I still play Albedo in Navia. Well atleast for a few more days 😂. Still no regrets hes done me well my 2nd limited 5 star 1.2 after Zhongli. Ive gotten my use out of him.
Let's be honest is there still a ver 1 5 star that is still meta/ hasn't been replaced that is not zhongli. Version 2 characters are now being slowly powercrept
