Ah yes, because a Chinese company 100% cares about skin tone in their game. /s Did no one notice how every in-game summery npc was white?? People should have seen this coming tbh
@@happiestrain1926 Except cat lady, but the fact that there's literally only one to be able to point out is just the exception that proves the rule. Tokenism be like.
Fun fact: Why Childe was seemingly randomly in a banner in his first rerun at 1.4 during the Windblume Festival, was because it was the 11th banner since release. Edit: First of all, wtf 3,2k likes?? Second of all, to people doubting: Childe was originally released on the 11th day of the 11th month on patch 1.1. And of course, he is the 11th harbinger. So I don't think it's a coincidence that his rerun was on the 11th banner. Some people have also pointed out that 1.4 was the patch when we first saw the hydro abyss herald, who has a similar fighting style as Childe, so there's some connection to the patch.
That's just something people made up. In truth, it was probably because they couldn't re-run anyone else (They were working on GAA for Klee, Were working on ZL's story quest for 1.5 and it was too early for Albedo, Ganyu or Xiao).
A couple things I think could have been included: - Zhongli being very hyped up probably brought the earnings up, even though he was really bad. - Raiden had a very powerful C2 which caused many players to spend 3x as much as for a normal character (+C3 and her weapon being also powerful for her). Oh wow, I didn't think Ayaka would get Nr. 1 because of the other 3 weeks. I find it so weird how people are constantly spending hmm
remember that ayaka rerun also had mistsplitter on weapon banner. a lot of people also would pull for that since the banner duration was increased without a clear end date.
As a player who joined at the end of April, the banner being extended was the reason i ended up getting her. So i think that she was a bit more "new player acessible" since we had more time to rake up primos and spend on her banner. I think that's helped a bit.
@@nightlight3169 This is what ended up happening for me. I thought it was worth investing into it since it has a high base attack for Bennet, plus it's a good DPS sword for Ayato, Ayaka, and Keqing.
the reason why Ayaka's sales kept going up was because of FOMO since it could be that her next rerun would be after a year and then there's the fact that people would of course get paid during that 3 weeks so they have extra to spend on her cons and weapon
19:30 I think it's also worth mentioning here that the archon story involving xiao was super super emotional. That story literally made me pull for xiao.
Same here. I was like "HE IS NOT DOING THAT AGAIN" and pulled for him. I luckily got him and now he's almost crowned in all talents (he's also my first crowned character too).
Same I was actually pulling yelan (of course she was evading my wishes) but then my last 5pulls I did xiao and i didn't expect him to come home because I had just win a 50/50 of venti before him and also didn't had anything prepared for him but my build end up being pretty damn solid because I had blackcliff which I bought for some reason and my unlucky luck which went into ventis crit piece (just give me em ;-;) so he had good attack and i was able to level his kit up pretty quick from spare materials also got diluc some days after from standard Edit: not flexing or anything but got ganyu and almost at pity for cyno but he's hard to farm so I'll get albedo
@@kyliesmith9199 Unironically Qiqi might be the most profitable character in Genshin despite not having her own banner. She pops up everywhere whether you like it or not.
A thing to note about Kokomi's initial run, on top of the reasons you mentioned, is that it also coincided with Genshin's notorious 1 year anniversary, in which players were... less than happy and far less likely to spend money on the game.
@@dankboy6744 uneventful moment, i was still playing game during that time but i don't even remember if there was anything in game besides 7 day login rewards. If i remember correctly they had musical concert streaming on twitch and it was supposed to have paid items (30$ ?) like glider and something else but they made those free in attempts to make it look like they were planning to have it free from beginning oh and also because of backlash i think. Haven't played for months now and don't know what's going on.
she can't crit and her banner was after raiden. she's also another healer and would argue that bennet, jean and diona are far better cause they offer more than healing. she can't heal off field and takes a lot of onfield just to heal in which you lose more damage. these are the reasons i remember. she was hated way before and even after her banner calling her useless and haters were calling out kokomi havers for getting her. edit: i was explaining her status during her release based on my observations during her first banner. it’s different now since people now know how to use her. she’s way more valuable now. i have her and she’s one of my favorite characters.
i’ll actually be very interested to see how well the Kazuha/Klee + Heizou banner performs since it’s right before Sumeru! people have been eagerly waiting for Kazuha’s rerun for months so no doubt his banner is probably gonna make up more of the sales than Klee… but i wonder how many people will be skipping for the 1st Dendro/Sumeru characters? and my poor girl Yoimiya is getting screwed over once again on her banner timing being literally right before Sumeru 😭
tbh the dendro characters are pretty disappointing design wise; and kazuha won't be out of the meta soon. heizou also look like a pretty solid 4* dps. their banners will be good.
Considering his hype and how his wanters couldnt shut up about it I'd say Kazuha's banner revenue is going to be higher than any other banners combined
@@ra6765 There's also the fact that many Kazuha wanters are saving primogems for him though, so I wonder if that will affect top up sales on the banner
@@strawberrymilk607 thats a fair point. Depends on how its counted I would assume. But it has a good chance for being the most pulled banner in the history of every gacha gaming ever.
Its gonna be probably top 5, just bcz of the hype around him, some like his style, some worship his kit, I wouldn't say you need him when you have Sucrose but for people who care about that you need two of her to do Abyss so ofc everyones gonna pull for him
it would have been repetitive to mention it for each banner but don’t forget that for some anticipated characters (ahem im looking at you kazuha rerun), players save a ridiculous amount of primo gems rather than spend money to get them it’s really hard to judge on popularity alone but the sales numbers are definitely pretty funny to look at
yess this, like i got welkin during ayaka rerun but the primos i got from it is going to be spent on the upcoming kazuha rerun, despite that, the spending will probably be considered to have gone to ayaka in official sales record. calculating the amount of primos spent in a banner would be a more accurate look of how popular/wanted a character is imo
I think it's also important to note that one of the things that made people pull for Kokomi more is the fact that people didn't realise how good she was as Hydro application in her first banner and it was only after the banner ended that people started to realise just how versatile her kit is, especially in freeze and taser teams.
People already say she is good for freeze team during her release. But no, everyone just shittin on her and right after several months later everyone suddenly say they like her hydro application, genshin western community in nutshell
@@suisui5930 Indeed. I pulled for her just because I loved her design (only reason I pull for any character tbh), but given one of my mains is Ayaka, she's become one of the most useful characters for me. Plus she's the best character to use in the overworld as she just makes all healing food redundant and makes travelling over water easier. It really is a shame how overlooked she is.
This is why you pull based on your playstyle and not hype, i got her during her first banner because my team badly needed a healer and barbara was not built yet, i was around 30ish AR too. but she came like a fresh bag of gold just givin to you, and now my team has been pretty immortal every since. and i already had klee, so you can imagine how fun this set up is.
Albedo's rerun also did better because he was the focus of the dragonspine event, the geo artifact set came out, and we got the free 4 star sword custom made for him
Zhongli was only buffed due to Chinese comunity revolt: They kept spamming invoice requests to Mihoyo (In China, is required by law that if a consumer requests a invoice of a digital purchase the company must provide it within a certain amount of time) and CN community is the biggest income for Mihoyo 11:20 - Ayaka was also a very long waited character due to beta 12:18 - And again Yoimya is getting her rerun.... right before Sumeru's archon release 13:52 - writting was rushed for that part of the story. There is a rumor part of the story team just left Mihoyo due to dissagrements with direction of the story which made Mihoyo desperate to complete the story. THe livestream that showcased her was very cringy, you could tell the voice actors were following a script and they had to act positively surprised when it was announced that she couldn't crit 14:57 - LMAO I remember people theorizing that Hu Tao appearance was a omen to Childe's death 15:48 - his noodle arms of his 3d model were dissapointing
@Ayaka you clearly didn't understand my comment. The invoice request spamming wasn't for some goverment official to check on the character (where the fuck you even got the idea?) it was so with the flooding with invoice requests it would require extra work time for mihoyo to process the requests. And yes Mihoyo licks CN community foot no doubt: There was this event in onkai where there was a character that appeared in a bunny suit but this event was excluisve for non CN servers, only CN didn't get it due to CCP censorship. CN community cried that the content was too revealing (even though they shouldn't have had acess to it in their server they saw it on the internet) and Mihoyo in order to satisfy the CN community removed the content from all servers and gave then 2000 gems as an apology while the international community got only 200
it still makes me laugh that everyone thought itto had huge arms when it was just the perspective XD You can clearly see on his splash art that his right arm is much smaller
Actually, the writing team did not leave MiHoYo back then, just to correct you. The writing team went on and left the story to the interns, and are reassigned to focus on Star Rail. Unfortunately, because of that decision, the writing became a date quest, and was rushed. However, as it can be seen later on, the new writing team got better.
@@the7observer yeah the Honkai Global 3rd anniversary incident, took away their events, blame the global player which is not even their fault and had the audacity to "apologized" and give them small pouch so call compesation but sadly their own CN server both Honkai and Genshin get more severe censorship so they got salty and want to migrate server due to tasting their own poison talking about hard karma at it's finest.
Another problem with Kazuha is that the Archon quest featured him, as he was following us around, but they never let us play him in the open world with our characters, so many people didn't feel confident in using primos on him when a lot of cute girls where around the corner.
I feel like the boys of Genshin are quite underrated. There's so much fanart of mainly female characters, and the most I've seen with my own eyes for a male character is either Tartaglia, Gorou or Razor. Like none for Diluc or Kaeya?? Its the same thing for fire emblem girls. There's so much fanart of Female FE, yet next to none for the boys.
Also keep in mind that the data changes depending on country and platform. For example, CN banner sales tend to correlate close with a characters power level/utility where JP banner sales more closely follow how much people like a character design and personality.
Something else with Childe specifically is that people just don't know how to use him. They just see a long cooldown and think he's not that good. I literally just pulled for him cause I thought he was funny, I didn't even know what weapon he used when I decided I wanted him (I was decently new lol). Learning how to play around the cooldown, even with c1, is something you have to actually learn and for a lot of people that's just not worth the time when there's so many other options. And now that Ayato exists, I think it just hurts Childe more.
Sort of I mean whales and people who actually know how to play the game will know that Ayato goes to taser team , Kokomi goes to taser or soup teams, and Childe goes to vape teams
Ayato and Childe are both unique and they did different things, Childe deserves players who love him and know how to play him well. As a Childe Main I have never been sad cause his sale was low, he has always been a very good unit for speedrunning or clearing the abyss. Childe in good player hands is just different.
I think the bigger factor in some of the failed banners. keqing, Kokomi, Yoimiya, and Klee rerun was mostly due to all content creators saying they were bad and in the case for kokomi specifically they didn't even want to wish on their banner but were "forced" to since they wanted to make content and whale for them. they constantly dogged on her even after she got the artifacf set and for her rerun they let off a little as to not cause another uproar of VA hate like they did in the first run.
@@XxPlatinumChief frr, I remember being very discouraged to pull for her because of all the trashing on her kit but she still managed to come home even after I lost my pity to childe.
@@XxPlatinumChief she was my first 5* and even surrounding all the hate, I am so glad i pulled her. Koko has proven to be one of my most versatile characters in the whole game.
Im lucky that i never really used the online genshin space when i started playing because they mightve convinced me too in not pulling for her but i desperately needed a healer so i pulled for her and i enjoyed her very much. People shouldn't base their votes base their pulls of others @Astrophel24
Some of the banner fails like Kazuha and Kokomi has something to do with the doompost people kept posting before their release (Kazuha with C6 Sucrose, Kokomi with -100 crit and 5 star Barbara). Others have already pointed out Raiden's C2 but there was also the fact that she was seen as the first DPS Archon since Venti and Zhongli were generally viewed as supports. With the amount of people begging for a Kazuha rerun, I actually expect him to be at least within top 5 because most players saving for him would go as far as C1 - but then there's the Sumeru leak which could potentially cut the spending spree of others
Nah only npcs let other people get in their heads LMAO. But I don't think he actually will be that much amazing because most people saved up their free wishes for him, whales already have him at c6, Sumera is near and was heavily leaked
Kazuha c0 without freedom sworn is only good as c6Sucrose is true tho. Sucrose is also amazing I don't get it why Kazuha fanbois got offended if they compare him to Sucrose. Same as C0 Yelan, she is only strong as c6 Xingqui.
@@unexpectednoone534 Well almost. While the two have similar damage boosting utitilu, Kazuha has easier-to-use Crowd Control and his burst cost less energy (meaning it has less cool down). All those allows smoother rotation.
@@AryaPDipa But at the end of the day, their melt/vaporize team cleartime is about the same and Sucrose don't need burst/c6 to be good as Kazuha's melt/vapo team. While on taser/overload or transformative reactions, Sucrose is better than Kazuha. Kazuha is only better than Sucrose is on monoteams and freeze team(On Ayaka team tho Kazuha is kinda not needed if you have misplitter, Shenhe and Mona because of too much elemental buff resulting diminishing returns). I agree that Kazuha make buffing allies easier and have a better cc tho but many Kazuha fanbois overhype him as if he's way better than Sucrose overall.
@@unexpectednoone534 Well I'm not a Kazuha fanboy since I don't have him...yet. But he's definitely stronger than Sucrose C6 if he has Freedom Sworn. He provides bigger elemental damage buff, 35-40% compared to 20% from Sucrose. He actually can move big enemies with his E, while both Venti and Sucrose have almost 0 CC with some of the new heavy enemies. Sucrose TTDS buff is great, but Kazuha with Freedom Sworn gives 20% ATK to WHOLE party, not just 1 character, so that overall is more party damage than TTDS. Sucrose's advantage is her EM buff, but only teams that rely heavily on Vape/Melt care about EM that much. I agree, in those teams, Sucrose is probably better than Kazuha C0. Also, Kazuha can do the same EM buff at C2. Obviously, we're talking about C0 Kazuha here, so that doesn't count. But still, overtime you can improve your Kazuha with constellations, more EM on his artifacts or even refinements on Freedom Sworn, meanwhile Sucrose reached her peak at C6 R5 TTDS
I remember Kazuha's banner. I wanted him because he looked adorable but hype for Ayaka was at an all time high and everyone was holding out. Also every single Genshin influencer were all saying why do you need him when we already have Venti? Go a month or so along from him banner and now everyone wants him.
People were also saying he's just 5 star Sucrose, which never made sense to me, because Sucrose buffs EM (reaction damage) while Kazuha buffs elemental damage...
Everyone wants him? lol keep your soyboy to yourself. Dude's been irrelevant since dendro. Skipped him on release and will still skip this bozo until EoS. I've survived 2 years without him. Will survive more.
@@littleswansplaygrownd6817 irrelevant is a crazy thing to say when he's been the top picked for abyss since he came out 💀 he's in every single team that doesn't use dendro OR anemo as a main dps (I ignore geo cuz it's a trash). I understand if you don't like him but saying he's irrelevant in genshin's meta is just a blatant lie, you're very high on copium lmaoooo
I think you forget that Teyvat trailer plays a huge role in introducing the character. I remembered that during 1.1, I met someone who already saving for Ayaka. This was due to them knowing Ayaka through Teyvat trailer. I met some people who prepare for Cyno and the twin (Lynell and Lynette) as well. Like yeah, I'm definitely pull the twin and depend on Cyno gameplay, might pull for him.
One thing that's sad about characters who's models were released earlier(you know the leak) wounded up being bad or too exclusive for teams, the only ones who survived were Hu Tao,Ayaya and Kazuha considering their versatility and maybe the designers decided to make them unique
Kazuha also suffered due to the community being DPS focused and not caring about support capabilities... ...and a major factor for Sangonomiya was the community revolt during the time with many social influencers trashing the game and Kokomi in an intentional attempt to hurt Genshin's sales. (Even review bombing the game.)
very ironic considering one of kazuha's main benefits over someone like sucrose is his dps capabilities lmao... then again people still dont realize transformative reactions do a lot of damage
@@Ben-vg6ox Yeah... kind of. But around that time was when Sangonomiya had her banner... ...though, I say kind of because a lot of the anniversary drama was orchestrated by social influencers spreading misinformation. (Thus, a lot of people don't acknowledge Moonlight Merriment and the Luxurious Sea Lord as part of the anniversary.) (Much like how DDoS attacks occurred on games for the lulz, clout, profit, and such, social media attacks are orchestrated against various companies now days.)
i think the no. 1 thing that affects characters' sales is definitely the hype, best example is yae miko's case, she isn't that great imo but still did pretty well. ayaka and raiden was also very hyped. 2nd thing is based on how good they are. lastly, the release date of the banners, heavily affects sales as well, example was albedo being sandwiched between geo archon and ganyu.
as someone who got kazuha on his first run and on accident since i was tryna get bennett so i could have a healer that didnt freeze me infinitely resulting in me spamming spacebar infinitely more i am so glad i got him his attacks are so fluid hes so easy to build(even though im running him as quickswap dps not as support but support kazuha is so easy to build, literally just get iron sting/black iron sword a 4viridescent with em on everything and bam hes done) and i love his character, i got him triple crowned a while ago and when the update drops im playin his story quest instantly and [data removed due to it being leaks] loved his moment in 2.1 archon quest even if i didnt like the story from it in general but still was enjoyable to see him parry raiden's slash and activate his friends dead vision. just such a good character, enjoyed his appearance in the floral zither event(who actually remembers that thing lmao) and in the irodori festival, the reveal of his family making the sword raiden uses seemingly ties into what happens with his story quest and his father meeting scaramouche was amazing i think they realized how badly they messed up with kazuha and spent this past year trying to fix it i will keep the jade cutter i pulled for him on him even if looks awful on him(the black sword looks great on him but having a 77/184 ratio kazuha is too nice and seeing those 40k slashes is perfection) hoping everyone who wants him does end up getting him and that i get a qiqi while going for heizou so i can have her and guarantee zhongli since im not really interested in sumeru
I also got kazuha on his first run, I never pulled a bennet before and was reallying wanting him since he never came home. I accidently pulled a c1 kazuha and was feeling mixed when i saw that. Previously I never really was invested in leaks and such but kept up with kazuha's initial leaks and really liked his introduction in the story and the build up with his trailers especially with the one on beidou's ship and how mellow it felt when he was retelling his story and I love that trailer so much ( i really like his va's which is why i was so interested) and it wasn't until playing him before pull that made me feel like i understood how useful he is and the beauty in his animations. it was then i was happy i was able to bring him home. Your comment really resounated with me and is basically like my expereince with him he is my 2nd best built character (only being beat by albedo, as albedo is pretty but also a pain to build before the husk artifacts released) but anyways best of luck to you and your pulls fellow kazuha haver
jade cutter looks great on him tho! much better than freedom sworn. i keep fs on him for the utility (im full EM kazuha build, kzh dps ain't my style) but in terms of drip, jade cutter is leagues better lol. i definitely pulled for him with the intention of getting him (husbando collector here) instead of a happy accident like other people. glad my faith in him was validated through meta.
lol i'm just gonna say this, farming for 4pc VV is the worst nightmare so far. 2 months farming for kazuha/venti/sucrose (and now heizou) and i don't have a single EM circlet or goblet, in retrospect i have plenty of EM sands lol also i'm f2p and i don't aimlessly spend my fragile resins so yeah lol it's hard guys TT send prayers to me TT
A friend of mine has wanted Mona since day 1 and still has yet to get her, having Jean, Qiqi, and Keqing at C3+. They definitely want a Mona banner lol
@@vipernineone514 Same. While I have Jean, she is the only one I can't get constellations for and is the one I want them most. Meanwhile my Mona is C4.
Based on keqing sale, i don't think there'd be another "limited" standard character banner. keqing banner doesn't have huge sale even when Keqing was one of the most simped character back then.
Sumeru definitely is one of the factors affecting Kazuha’s banner, but I don’t think his banner will be affected that much, considering how long people have been waiting for him
Out of all Characters Yelan was probably the the best performing one considering there wasn't much going for her unlike Raiden who received a top up reset as well. A good kit really does make a difference in sales. Oh and yeah she is number 1 in Japan.
@@aldomeylano9278 there have been a few double banners like Ayato/Venti Shenhe/Xiao none of which reached that high at all in sales Yelan being this high is because of her influence and such.
What makes raiden's rerun having such good sales not only is her incredible c2-c3 but also the fact that on her release she was seen as kind of a disappointment by the community due to all the circumstances around her, but by the time of her rerun she was already seen as the very strong character she is... but also her c2 yeah.
Actually, Hu Tao's re-run in 2.2 might of been because of her banner starting on November 1st, Día de Muertos/Day of the Dead. Poor Yoimiya. Both her release and (as of writing this comment, future) rerun were (are) sandwiched between two hyped characters. I wouldn't be surprised if she's added to the Standard banner in the near future.
Speaking of which I really want some new standard 5* characters from Inazuma and Sumeru, just 2 or 3, having only Mondstadt and Liyue standard characters is kinda underwhelming
Same but I joined cuz of the hype surrounding Genshin and the fact that there were Tiktoks based on the game, didn't get Ganyu tho until her year awaited rerun but still have good memories
I feel so bad for Yoimiya, she's my favorite character of all, I love her design, playstyle and personality but Hoyoverse did her dirty in both banners. I'm excited about her rerun cause I really want her weapon since I didn't get it the first time ❤
good. then she will be a rare character that only selected few has. coming from someone who hasn't touched hu tao since he got yoimiya lol also, i wish both of us luck with her weapon banner
I will get yoimiya this time! I got c1 kazuha but lost mona in her banner.. I still have 50 50 but I saved 70 wishesfor her I am currently at 65 pity! so I hope she can come home this time...
@@mashupotato Just because less people have Kokomi it doesn't makes you anything special for playing her you know? I have her too btw, and I don't feel like I have "a shiny rare character".
man I remember starting to play in 1.6 and pulling C1 R1 Kazuha. Didn't even know he was skipped by many players due to Inazuma since I didn't interact with the community and just played through the archon quests like a happy little beginner Good times Now I'm so glad I pulled him. I feel like an OG
lucky I joinedaround the time when his banner ended.I to was a new player and didnt now about the community. However when yoimiya came out i was atually excited to get her and i dual main diluc and yoimiya very well.
@McHutao he is to this day. Not "worse" sucrose though, the original saying was "an expensive sucrose" or "a 5* sucrose" (which is a complement because of how broken she is). He does all what she does, she outperforms him a bit in vape, he, on the other hand, is much more flexible outside of vape teams, and having two sucroses on your account for each abyss team is something many people need, me for example. Doesn't make him bad nor makes the people who said he's a 5* sucrose wrong.
@McHutao I related to this. I pull for Kokomi with the same mind set, was dissapoint at first too but then realized later that I like her playstyle more than Zhongli. She is on my abyss team now. (And I got Kazuha unintentionally too, the best thing happen to me in this game)
I started Genshin around Yae Miko's baner, honestly I think she is underrated, she of course isn't in the same level of Raiden Shogun, but I think she is very valuable considering she is one of the unique characters that can hit the enemy with her burst no matter how high they are, for example against Oceanid i always pick Yae Miko because she can deal with the flying birds of water much easier than a character with a bow. I just wished for her because she is a fox tho🤷♂️
yup, she is not the best dps but quite fun to play around with ... i really like to use her with ayato, his Q and yae E 3 towers is fun to use, u place the abilities and then they do the work for u xD while u concentrate on generating more energy
She's not bad, but Fischl is unfortunately better than her at c0, especially if you have c6 Fischl. She's not underrated, though a minority of people do trash her too much when talking about her. Most people I know, that like her, just want small changes to make her either use less time on field or increase her damage/utility to compensate for her on-field time. I'd be more willing to get constellations on her rerun if they buffed her, but I probably won't if she stays the same...
I can vouch right now that Klee’s rerun during the golden Apple archipelago event might have bombed because some people (like me) went for C6 Yanfei, and then asked themselves “Why do I need a second Yanfei?” so that probably plummeted Klee’s sales a little.
@@Ben-vg6ox she is now fixed because she can vape with xingqiu + yelan, but yeah, her vape damage isnt competing with hutao or xiangling.. and her mechanics kinda hard if not used to it, so i think thats the problem
"Perfect"... Yeeeeeah.. Let's keep pretending that the conclusion of the Inazuma arc isn't rushed and the first Shogun story quest isn't ridiculously bad. That being said, yes, she remains op in terms of gameplay and character design.
@@Gonzora what are you talking about? Conclusion of Inazuma arc (as a story writing perspective) has nothing to do with Raiden as a character. I don't think her first story quest was bad.
@@anujmgrroshan The problem isn't with Raiden's character, but with how Mihoyo wanted the playerbase to see her. She was supposed to be a well-intentioned but flawed ruler, whose decisions had a negative impact on her country and could be explained because of her past trauma. Instead, Mihoyo pulled the "Bad Fatui were behind everything" card to portray her as an innocent waifu for the fans. Her first story quest isn't that bad now but at the time, we didn't have the second part. Coming right after the end of the main quest, it was disappointing to spend half the quest watching her eat dangos and make fun of light novels when many problems about Inazuma were unresolved.
I love how it is thoroughly explained. Nice! For Shenhe, I think her story quest was part of the archon quest. The Raiden hype was the backstory, the cooking memes and booba blade!
18:21 Venti was really popular as well since a lot of people joined genshin in 2.4-2.5 and wanted him, I joined in 2.0 and really wanted him but I didn't have enough primos because of Kokomi's rerun so I had to spend a bit to get him, but definitely he needed a rerun and people spent on him
During Venti’s 3rd banner, I went for him since I missed him during his second rerun when I started, and trauma FOMO kicked in. So I didn’t go for Ayato, as the banner ended without me noticing. Ayaka I saved tons of Welkin Primos on though, since I already had her.
15:12 I pulled for Albedo because of the event quest and Cinnabar Spindle. Loved the lore and the sword obviously wouldn't be useful on anyone else, but is a great boost for Albedo (especially considering the upcoming Husk set at that time). They did a great job of selling him on that banner.
predicting that kazuha’s rerun might be on the top or average, even if sumeru is next Kazuha’s rerun was the most requested and awaited rerun, everyone had been waiting for him (me also lol) he’s like the most used character in spiral abyss. Considering the fact that many people did skip him and now regret it also due to inazuma’s release, his constellations are also pretty good with the EM bonus. Kazuha also had many story quests appearances lately and finally and his new own story quest, his story is pretty interesting
I got Eula on her debut, she was the first character I ever got from a wish at AR6, to this day I still find her to be a fantastic character to play with.
as someone that started playing in 1.1, this gave me SO MUCH nostalgia and when you started talking about 1.3 i just started tearing up because xiao and hu tao are my top two favorite characters and i absolutely ADORED the first lantern right ToT and omg windblume was so much fun. as someone that c6'd kazuha during his first banner (when i saw the teaser and then played the story he quickly became my third favorite character) my jaw just dropped in shock from how long it's actually been wow...
Yoimiya is pretty much almost the sole reason for me to keep on playing. After I get her, I would be able to finally enjoy this game to a much greater extent. She is exquisite, gorgeous, adorable and cute. Simply cannot withold any praise at this point, everything about her is good and lovely.
Considering what we know about the 3.0 banners from leaks, i think kazuhas banner is going to do really well even if its in the patch right before the release of a major region
I thought Itto would be a higher in sales since his selling point is him bursting with personality and he seems so loved by the fanbase. I'll be optimistic of his rerun doing better, I may not check these statistics often since they differ per country, but it is interesting to learn about it in video format like you did!
The first Kazuha's trailer is still one of my favorite, my Kill Bill boy! I loved him at first sight. Was the first time, and only time since now, that I pulled for the c1 in a 5* banner. Just waiting to c2 or c3 him in the next banner * _ * Fun fact, I didn't want to pull for Ayaka, but her story quest totally broke my heart, and now is one of my fav dps
I wish in Hu Tao's next rerun, we can have her own event quest. It didnt happen last time so it was completely a bummer for me. I mean, with such personality, I am sure lots of people waiting for another story with her
Her first story quest is one of the only ones without a single cutscene D: But other than archons normal limited units dont seem to get a chapter 2 sadge.
@@shi-chan5779 yeah that's why I said limited event quest like lantern rite, irodori fest quest, thw dragonspine events, or like when we were trapped in weird inazuman domain with childe and xinyan (sorry forgot the name). No need to be like big festivities, just something like solving a problem in wuwang hill or something like that
@@soap9799 yet, her banner still made so much money for them lol. I love her she’s my fav playable character i got both her c1 and homa even tho i’m not a huge spender, only spend 5$ a month.
@@KenEurolfan I don't think he is gonna dethrone ayaka. Yes he has had a lot of hype, but ayaka's banner ran for double the length of a usual banner. It is possible for him to be on par with raiden's initial release however, because his c2 is probably the second strongest c2 in the game.
@@KrisPBacon69 ayaka is only ahead against the 2nd place banner by around 2-3 million and that includes her 3 week extension, + dual banners are counted into one, with his hype, c2 bait, klee rerunning along side him, heizou, and a decently good weapon banner, the banner is easily either going to be the 2nd best selling or the best selling banner itself
If Hoyo drip markets Sumeru Characters and Dendro before 2.8, then Kazuha's sale might be a little bit lower. But Yoimiya would suffer the most since she is Between Kazu and sumeru
I think it was interesting that the way youd know about Hu Tao before she came out was through leaks, which is what I looked at, so I immediately knew how great she would be. People realizing this after her first banner is shown so well with how well her second banner did
I think what this collection of insight proves, is that hype needs time, and characters that are well-established before their premiere will do much better by tendency, especially when their roles in the story are sufficiently centralized. Ayaka was the most wanted character from the beta since she was the only one missing from it after release, so she had almost a year of hype building up. Then, her rerun came with the many observations made after her initial release, cementing her as one of the most powerful cryo characters to go for, and some folks would grow impatient during the Shanghai lockdown and pull for her at that point - everything worked perfectly in her favor. On the other hand, out-of-nowhere characters whose power and/or relevance is suddenly played up, tend to annoy a good number of players. For instance, Eula was more vocally disliked for being one-note, and not having any build-up worth the claim that she's on equal footing with THE Dandelion Knight, Jean - and that's not taking her lack of elemental coverage into account. I feel like the same issue contributed towards Kokomi being unconvincing as a worthy opponent to Raiden Shogun, only going face to face with a literal electro simp, and barely edging out a victory. I'm certainly curious on how well Kazuha's rerun will go. He's currently sitting as the top elemental support in the game, and he had a lot of spotlight to himself far after his banner, so the outlook should be fairly positive. Klee is probably gonna lag behind for all the reasons you already mentioned, but Yoimiya, I fear, might just take a big L, seeing how general views on her have only worsened as one of the most poorly-desinged 5* DPS units in the game, alongside Yae.
The second I saw kazuha’s announcement on the Genshin twitter, I knew I had to get him. Tbh, I didn’t know much technical/combat elements of genshin at the time, but he just looked like someone I wanted. I am so glad that I got him, especially as I learnt more about his value. On his first banner, I got him C2. I am planning to eventually get him C6, as he is my favorite character. I’m glad I rolled on the OG kazuha banner, in a few days, I am sure almost everyone will have him.
Great overall analysis, that low Kokomi initial banner earnings reminds me of how disappointed I was with the Sanganomiya story in 2.1. I suspect that Raiden wasn’t supposed to be the 2.1 banner character but she was pushed forward in time for the primogem pack reset, and then the 2.1 story had to be hastily rearranged to end on a good note for Raiden instead of arching over to 2.2. Just a theory though.
They made a big mistake in restricting the build possibilities of a 5 star character and simplifying the mechanics. Crits are entirely overrated as only complete whales really make use of it for most builds, but they are absolutely a favourite of players. Some I know go all in crit damage with 10% even crit rate just because they like the biggest number and don't care about dps or anything like that. Couple that with the fact that although healing was the most necessary aspect to add at the time, most players hate healing. Even Qiqi is still derided despite being one of the better dpses now with the addition of clam and the way clam damage ignores armour and the best healer in the game. In some sense the issue was they wanted her to differ from mona.
2.2 - 2.4 was my biggest nightmare. All characters I wanted to pull were right next to each other. What made it worse is that I lost my 50/50 in all of them
This video is actually super interesting and I can tell that you've spend a long time researching for this. Additionally the overall video quality, editing and organization is awesome. Give yourself a pat on the back, mate!
I started just as 1.6 was starting and 1.5 was ending and Kazuha was my first limited banner 5 star (I liked him cause he was pretty) and I'm happy with him, I'm going for Klee in 2.8 as I couldn't get her last time
me who pulled venti in 2.6 bc i wasnt playing back then: 🗿 this was a very interesting video, personally i started playing during the kokomi banner :) the only banner i spent on was the venti rerun, apart from that ive been generally decently happy with everyone else i've gotten (c1 xiao, zhongli, etc) looking forward to kazuha!
I would say I'm a proud supporter of the first Kleerun (since I missed her during her first run), but since I lost the 50/50 in the previous banner, I was able to save enough primos to actually get her without shelling out some cash. 😅
i am a keqing banner puller, i wanted her since launch and knew getting her from a 50/50 loss (or the few and far between standard banner 5 stars) would be unlikely and difficult. i have 0 regrets as currently she is the character i have the most investment in and still continuously use to this day.
Man, 2.3 and 2.4 were a nightmare for me. I already skipped a a version and a half worth of banners to get Albedo because I wanted him for so long but I wasn't playing GI during his first release and Itto because his voice-over is just too good to pass up. Then came the surprise that Zhongli was having a rerun on 2.4 and I was devastated because I lost 50/50 on his banner but I still wanter him. Long story, short: I got all three of them after winning 50/50. Thank you gacha gods. XD
I will never not be miffed at how much Kokomi got shat on when her debut banner released, I literally skipped over Raiden in favor of her out of spite and it was unironically one of the best decisions I ever made. Couldn't ask for a better healer, and unlike some people I know that not every character is made to be a DPS lmao It makes me really happy to know her rerun did so much better (tbh I don't usually pay much attention to sales numbers so I wasn't aware it was so high up), Kokomi is my baby and she got done SO dirty the first time around. This was a really interesting watch overall. Thanks, man c:
Why was Raiden Shogun given so many highlights, I believe there is another reason for this. If you play Honkai Impact 2 and Honkai Impact 3, then you will know who Raiden Shogun is represented for. It's an iconic character throughout Mihoyo games. She is the daughter of Mihoyo. Most players in China knew her even before Genshin Impact came out.
Villain edge to her, plus epicness, plus Japan theme, plus the most awesome theme tune, plus the most important and present person- she IS inazuma, not hidden like the other archons. Is it realyl a surprise? she bleeds power and has very awesome animations. She feels like the god she is meant to be.
Raiden also had a pretty big community of fans coming from Honkai Impact and her similarities with Raiden Mei's character Herrscher of Thunder which was the most powerful lightning dps in the game at that time added more to the hype. Yae also has her counterpart in Honkai Impact and the huge difference between Yae Miko and Yae Sakura both in terms of gameplay and character turned the fans off for a bit, and that has been reflected in sales numbers
I'm so glad I return to Genshin when Zhongli reruns were near because I badly needed a shielder and he was the first 5* I really wanted. He has never left the team since I got him and the fact I got Yanfei was a double blessing. I have Ayaka and Xiao now as main DPS but I always return to Yanfei. Hoping to get Kazuha in 2.8 and hope everyone pulling for him get him too 😊
Speaking personally, I think that another potential factor for Kazuha's inital "failure" was the Golden Apple Archipelago - I earned SO MANY primogems during that event. If you skipped Klee, you likely had enough to hit pity at least once. People might not have spent on Kazuha because they got so many primos from the event that they ended up not needing to.
Can’t believe that Shenhe had probably the most emotionally resonant story quest out of the entire game and yet Hoyoverse decided to make her only be effective a fighter if you have enough Cyro’s on your team. Like WHO WRITES ALL THAT CHARACTERISATION AND CHARM FOR ONE MAIN CHARACTER AND YET STILL MAKE HER A PISS POOR FIGHTER IN COMBAT???
I believe majority of the player base relies on content creators when trying to decide if they will pull for a character on not. For example, if 4.0 Lyney/Yelan banner does really well, is it because of Lyney or Yelan? Based on the trend I was exposed to, it is most likely Yelan as people were yet to be sure of Lyney's strength and advised against pulling for him. Personally, I think it was the same with Hu Tao, no one knew how good she was in the beginning but her popularity spiked as soon as people discovered it.
I didn't even watched the video but as someone who played since day 1 I can pretty summarize this in a few words. Genshin's community is composed by 2 sides, first side, people who wants big pp numbers, and second side, people who want waifus and are tremendous down bad, and basically the second side just smashes, eviscerates and murders the first side, it's just not balanced, hence why basically all female characters banners succeeded more than males. this is a take based on the thumbnail only
Based on everything you said in this video, I think how much people care about a character's story could also play a big role. Most of there characters that did well have really solid, well loved stories. A lot of my friends and I pull for specific characters we like simply because we enjoy their stories- sometimes we don't even actually actively use the character in question (looking at you Albedo/Childe/Itto)
Lost prayers is not really a weapon a whale wants it's not elegy+ homa. Your second option longest character without rerun it contributes more to having less sales because people saved up for him. It's like around Hu Tao rerun if I'm being honest
With 3.0 closing in on us, and the amount of upcoming characters that I love the designs for (*cough all of them cough*) plus being on my guarantee 5*, I'm holding off on wishing until I know who is going to be on the first banner. I have 50 wishes stockpiled since Yelan's banner, and knowing I've only won a single 50/50 out of 5, I'm not taking any risks despite really wanting Heizou. T-T I so hope he ends up being migrated into the 4* pool for Sumeru, because I'm already missing out on Kuki, and missing out on another just feels like a massive slap to the face.
Hoyoverse is doing my girl Yoimiya dirty again by placing her banner right before Sumeru releases. To be perfectly honest though I'm not that inclined to pull for the Sumeru characters. They look okay design wise but it's like they don't appear as appealing to me as the Inazuma characters do when they first released, maybe because I like traditional Japanese clothing more. I'm more excited to be pulling for Scara and Kusanali, the Dendro Archon, who are rumored to be released in 3.2 and 3.1 respectively so I'm gonna be saving my primos for them after I pull a guaranteed Kazuha and for Thundering Pulse for my Yoimiya. I might try for Al-Haitam (did I spell that right?) but only after I see how good his gameplay and kit are. I'm more excited to explore and learn the lore of Sumeru in general than I am about the actual playable characters who are from the region.
For Hu Tao’s rerun, I don’t like Hu Tao. However, I told myself that if I lost the 50/50, I would 100% get Qiqi, who I wanted since I started playing, and Ocean Hued Clam exists now at this point. I got Qiqi that banner and saved my guaranteed for Albedo.
Biggest factor in sale's honestly is just player word of mouth and the character personality/aesthetic Meta player's think strength is what determines sale's but honestly. Most players don't base there decision on the Abyss or Meta. Kokomi was still good on release. It was content creator's and theory crafter's spreading bs just like with Kuki people who want her will get her in spite of the fan base screeching and content creator's using the same tired metric. As more unit come out there will just be more variety and sales will simply reflect exposure. All it takes is a story quest or a skin or a cool design to make the top chart's. You'll get your dead memes like people who love to shit on Xinyan or Yae but even for those players who still chase the meta they'll realize that having broken unit's you can't enjoy Whether its boring gameplay easy metrics to improve damage or just it feeling repetitive pulling for a character you enjoy is way more worth it
I agree, I never understood the people that are obsessed with meta, characters are always judged based on if they can do better that the current "optimal rotations" but they also say that the game is easy but Ayato, Itto and Yelan aren't good enough in a game where people have beaten abyss with 2 characters, like c'mon. I've always liked Kokomi I like the fact she's a tanky healer plus her design is nice so she was always good for me at least despite her flaws, Kuki however is a disappointment, and isn't exactly worth getting even tho her design is awesome but if people wanna get her for whatever reason be my guess don't have an issue with that. I wonder if they'll ever get tired of using the same characters and supports since mihoyoverse seems hellbent on pulling back on power levels for a while. But meh I personally are more interested in design and gameplay tbh, i can easily 36 star abyss with my favorite characters. But yeah I guess the sales somewhat reflect that
To be fair, the TC community didn't collectively shit on Kokomi as most people seem to believe. They simply stated how she was kinda meh for the current state of the game (no corrosion, no OHC). Her hydro application was noted, but we had units like XQ and Mona at the time who offered more overall team damage and healing just wasn't something that appealed to players who cared about optimization. There are always going to be bad actors and toxic idiots who either take things out of context or harass others for their preferences, but they aren't representative of a community in most cases. Kuki is a bit of a tragic case since she's the first electro healer we've got, but HYV completely dropped the ball in regards to her gameplay. This is only made worse by some of the leaks we have that are implying that Dori, one of the 3.0 leaked characters, is also going to be an electro healer. Unless dendro gives Kuki a team where she can truly shine, she'll be replaced as the go to electro healer almost as soon as she was released which, as stated before, is kind of tragic given how amazing she is aesthetically. For a lot of players who are a little more meta oriented, most of them enjoy the game both for its gameplay and its aesthetics. We can be both big fans of the game and its harshest critics because we care about all aspects of a character's design rather than just strictly aesthetics/gameplay. There's definitely fanaticism within the Genshin community that becomes pretty toxic, but when characters get a bad wrap due to gameplay issues I'd say that's more on HYV for not testing/balancing characters more carefully rather than the community for just evaluating a product that HYV released for consumption. IMO customers should be critical of a product if it doesn't meet a certain standard. That standard doesn't have to mean every character is meta defining, but I think everyone would appreciate it if characters, at the very lest, don't end up feeling like a liability in the only end game content we have lol.
I never listen to meta players because I never like people telling me what I can and can’t do on my own game. I get it, you wanna give people the advise for the f2p, but shitting on them when we don’t know how their kit is like is pretty narrow minded.
When comparing two banners I'd probbly adjust the sales for run time (similar to GDP vs GDP PPP) and ad two more adjusters: hype/gamestate (if players r bored and/or angry, or happyand/or hyped for update) and popularity of previous character. This way we could simply see popularity of banners/characters (which is combination of strength of kit + marketing + design and personality) I'd love to see that graph.
You’re definitely undercutting the many many people who see the new characters and skip because they look mid, only for them to be great and make them pull on the rerun
I wish my worst work would make a few million dollars
Dude, you put SO much into this video. Your effort definitely wont go unnoticed. Keep pushing man, I love your content!!

Some people have also pointed out that 1.4 was the patch when we first saw the hydro abyss herald, who has a similar fighting style as Childe, so there's some connection to the patch.
your brain is so big i never thought of that
omg holy shit
That's just something people made up. In truth, it was probably because they couldn't re-run anyone else (They were working on GAA for Klee, Were working on ZL's story quest for 1.5 and it was too early for Albedo, Ganyu or Xiao).
@@hausofsexual if so, then they can just keep venti for the entire version. They wouldnt release a banner without a reason.
@@mintaroum.9096 I think Hutao was rerun with no reason in 2.2 if I’m not mistaken
A couple things I think could have been included:
- Zhongli being very hyped up probably brought the earnings up, even though he was really bad.
If you only count Welkin, you should get quite a lot
remember that ayaka rerun also had mistsplitter on weapon banner. a lot of people also would pull for that since the banner duration was increased without a clear end date.
SAME!! but i got diluc and never managed to actually get xiao
Same I was actually pulling yelan (of course she was evading my wishes) but then my last 5pulls I did xiao and i didn't expect him to come home because I had just win a 50/50 of venti before him and also didn't had anything prepared for him but my build end up being pretty damn solid because I had blackcliff which I bought for some reason and my unlucky luck which went into ventis crit piece (just give me em ;-;) so he had good attack and i was able to level his kit up pretty quick from spare materials also got diluc some days after from standard
Edit: not flexing or anything but got ganyu and almost at pity for cyno but he's hard to farm so I'll get albedo

A thing to note about Kokomi's initial run, on top of the reasons you mentioned, is that it also coincided with Genshin's notorious 1 year anniversary, in which players were... less than happy and far less likely to spend money on the game.
Why weren't players happy with Genshin at the anniversary?
@@dankboy6744 uneventful moment, i was still playing game during that time but i don't even remember if there was anything in game besides 7 day login rewards. If i remember correctly they had musical concert streaming on twitch and it was supposed to have paid items (30$ ?) like glider and something else but they made those free in attempts to make it look like they were planning to have it free from beginning oh and also because of backlash i think. Haven't played for months now and don't know what's going on.
I’m also pretty sure that the -100 crit rate ruined her performance
she can't crit and her banner was after raiden. she's also another healer and would argue that bennet, jean and diona are far better cause they offer more than healing. she can't heal off field and takes a lot of onfield just to heal in which you lose more damage. these are the reasons i remember. she was hated way before and even after her banner calling her useless and haters were calling out kokomi havers for getting her.
edit: i was explaining her status during her release based on my observations during her first banner. it’s different now since people now know how to use her. she’s way more valuable now. i have her and she’s one of my favorite characters.
@@elirei_ She can heal off field though. Her skill summons a jellyfish which heals the active character.
i’ll actually be very interested to see how well the Kazuha/Klee + Heizou banner performs since it’s right before Sumeru! people have been eagerly waiting for Kazuha’s rerun for months so no doubt his banner is probably gonna make up more of the sales than Klee… but i wonder how many people will be skipping for the 1st Dendro/Sumeru characters? and my poor girl Yoimiya is getting screwed over once again on her banner timing being literally right before Sumeru 😭
I would say it'll preform similar 2 Ganyu's rerun
tbh the dendro characters are pretty disappointing design wise; and kazuha won't be out of the meta soon. heizou also look like a pretty solid 4* dps. their banners will be good.
But it has a good chance for being the most pulled banner in the history of every gacha gaming ever.
i think kazuhas banner will be at least in the top 10 since many people want his rerun...
but yeah ofc all the sumeru hype could lower this
Its gonna be probably top 5, just bcz of the hype around him, some like his style, some worship his kit, I wouldn't say you need him when you have Sucrose but for people who care about that you need two of her to do Abyss so ofc everyones gonna pull for him
So far there isn't much hype for the sumeru units in comparison to the hype Inazuman characters had. Especially the archon.
Idk i think he'll mid, too much leaks for it to be upper than 7th place
I think Kazuah will have really high sales bc of how strong he is
heizou will be in kazuha's banner raising up sales even more
it would have been repetitive to mention it for each banner but don’t forget that for some anticipated characters (ahem im looking at you kazuha rerun), players save a ridiculous amount of primo gems rather than spend money to get them
it’s really hard to judge on popularity alone but the sales numbers are definitely pretty funny to look at
yeah i rly wish there was a way to see how many primos were spent on each banner
yess this, like i got welkin during ayaka rerun but the primos i got from it is going to be spent on the upcoming kazuha rerun, despite that, the spending will probably be considered to have gone to ayaka in official sales record. calculating the amount of primos spent in a banner would be a more accurate look of how popular/wanted a character is imo
Not me coping with Kazuha's Banner sales are only low cause everyone saved their freemogems for him 😭
I'm guessing the only data we can gather is how many people will pull kazuha in paimon moe
i have 30k primos saved… been skipping since the kokomi/raiden rerun 😭
Zhongli was only buffed due to Chinese comunity revolt: They kept spamming invoice requests to Mihoyo (In China, is required by law that if a consumer requests a invoice of a digital purchase the company must provide it within a certain amount of time) and CN community is the biggest income for Mihoyo
11:20 - Ayaka was also a very long waited character due to beta
12:18 - And again Yoimya is getting her rerun.... right before Sumeru's archon release
13:52 - writting was rushed for that part of the story. There is a rumor part of the story team just left Mihoyo due to dissagrements with direction of the story which made Mihoyo desperate to complete the story. THe livestream that showcased her was very cringy, you could tell the voice actors were following a script and they had to act positively surprised when it was announced that she couldn't crit
14:57 - LMAO I remember people theorizing that Hu Tao appearance was a omen to Childe's death
15:48 - his noodle arms of his 3d model were dissapointing
@Ayaka you clearly didn't understand my comment. The invoice request spamming wasn't for some goverment official to check on the character (where the fuck you even got the idea?) it was so with the flooding with invoice requests it would require extra work time for mihoyo to process the requests. And yes Mihoyo licks CN community foot no doubt: There was this event in onkai where there was a character that appeared in a bunny suit but this event was excluisve for non CN servers, only CN didn't get it due to CCP censorship. CN community cried that the content was too revealing (even though they shouldn't have had acess to it in their server they saw it on the internet) and Mihoyo in order to satisfy the CN community removed the content from all servers and gave then 2000 gems as an apology while the international community got only 200
it still makes me laugh that everyone thought itto had huge arms when it was just the perspective XD
You can clearly see on his splash art that his right arm is much smaller

Oh that's fascinating, I love when we can get a mini snapshot of some cultural trends like that
Something else with Childe specifically is that people just don't know how to use him.
Sort of
I mean whales and people who actually know how to play the game will know that Ayato goes to taser team , Kokomi goes to taser or soup teams, and Childe goes to vape teams
Oh and Kokomi for freeze also
Ayato and Childe are both unique and they did different things, Childe deserves players who love him and know how to play him well. As a Childe Main I have never been sad cause his sale was low, he has always been a very good unit for speedrunning or clearing the abyss. Childe in good player hands is just different.
I pull for that unique gameplay
Ayato does nothing for Childe lol, he's just a cheap sidegrade, Taru is still better.
Now kokomi gets more love than ever...smh crazy
@@XxPlatinumChief frr, I remember being very discouraged to pull for her because of all the trashing on her kit but she still managed to come home even after I lost my pity to childe.

@@jadecoolness101c6 sucrose buffs elem dmg, he was compared to c6 4*

I think you forget that Teyvat trailer plays a huge role in introducing the character. I remembered that during 1.1, I met someone who already saving for Ayaka. This was due to them knowing Ayaka through Teyvat trailer. I met some people who prepare for Cyno and the twin (Lynell and Lynette) as well.
Like yeah, I'm definitely pull the twin and depend on Cyno gameplay, might pull for him.
Ayaka was in the Closed Beta of Genshin actually, so people have known about her even before that.
Well technically if you save for a character, you don't spend money on that banner, so banner sales would be lower
One thing that's sad about characters who's models were released earlier(you know the leak) wounded up being bad or too exclusive for teams, the only ones who survived were Hu Tao,Ayaya and Kazuha considering their versatility and maybe the designers decided to make them unique
there was this f2p player who saved enough to get her at c6 lol
@@jonnevitu4979 I think we all know that guy 😂
Kazuha also suffered due to the community being DPS focused and not caring about support capabilities...
...and a major factor for Sangonomiya was the community revolt during the time with many social influencers trashing the game and Kokomi in an intentional attempt to hurt Genshin's sales. (Even review bombing the game.)
very ironic considering one of kazuha's main benefits over someone like sucrose is his dps capabilities lmao... then again people still dont realize transformative reactions do a lot of damage
The review bombing was because of the anniversary wasn't it?
@@Ben-vg6ox Yeah... kind of.
But around that time was when Sangonomiya had her banner...
...though, I say kind of because a lot of the anniversary drama was orchestrated by social influencers spreading misinformation. (Thus, a lot of people don't acknowledge Moonlight Merriment and the Luxurious Sea Lord as part of the anniversary.)
(Much like how DDoS attacks occurred on games for the lulz, clout, profit, and such, social media attacks are orchestrated against various companies now days.)
i think the no. 1 thing that affects characters' sales is definitely the hype, best example is yae miko's case, she isn't that great imo but still did pretty well. ayaka and raiden was also very hyped. 2nd thing is based on how good they are. lastly, the release date of the banners, heavily affects sales as well, example was albedo being sandwiched between geo archon and ganyu.
as someone who got kazuha on his first run
and on accident since i was tryna get bennett so i could have a healer that didnt freeze me infinitely resulting in me spamming spacebar infinitely more
i am so glad i got him his attacks are so fluid hes so easy to build(even though im running him as quickswap dps not as support but support kazuha is so easy to build, literally just get iron sting/black iron sword a 4viridescent with em on everything and bam hes done)
and i love his character, i got him triple crowned a while ago and when the update drops im playin his story quest instantly and [data removed due to it being leaks]
loved his moment in 2.1 archon quest even if i didnt like the story from it in general but still was enjoyable to see him parry raiden's slash and activate his friends dead vision.
just such a good character, enjoyed his appearance in the floral zither event(who actually remembers that thing lmao) and in the irodori festival, the reveal of his family making the sword raiden uses seemingly ties into what happens with his story quest and his father meeting scaramouche was amazing
i think they realized how badly they messed up with kazuha and spent this past year trying to fix it
i will keep the jade cutter i pulled for him on him even if looks awful on him(the black sword looks great on him but having a 77/184 ratio kazuha is too nice and seeing those 40k slashes is perfection)
hoping everyone who wants him does end up getting him and that i get a qiqi while going for heizou so i can have her and guarantee zhongli since im not really interested in sumeru
Your comment really resounated with me and is basically like my expereince with him he is my 2nd best built character (only being beat by albedo, as albedo is pretty but also a pain to build before the husk artifacts released) but anyways best of luck to you and your pulls fellow kazuha haver
same, i got him on accident to raise my pity, but he is so good
Getting Kazuha on accident is the best accident, it happened to me too lol
jade cutter looks great on him tho! much better than freedom sworn. i keep fs on him for the utility (im full EM kazuha build, kzh dps ain't my style) but in terms of drip, jade cutter is leagues better lol. i definitely pulled for him with the intention of getting him (husbando collector here) instead of a happy accident like other people. glad my faith in him was validated through meta.

Nah, CN has restrictions regarding putting the limited character to standard. Doing it will be breaching the rule.

@McHutao I mean he is but that's for meta players not casuals to discuss

@@anujmgrroshan people just see her first story quest as a date and dont understand the actual meaning behind it lmao
I pull on her banner because of booba sword. Haha

And as a consequence of that, the story in 2.1 ended up rushed, with most of the characters doing nothing.
What made it worse is that I lost my 50/50 in all of them
Weird so many people pulled for Ayaka, since you can also just get her as an adventure rank reward
Probably people that were in a hurry and didn't want to wait until AR 42
I've been part of the fandom who literally pulls around those underrated characters. So yeah I have Kazuha simply because he's a Samurai
or she's cool cuz she can play kazoo with a frikin leaf :o
This video is actually super interesting and I can tell that you've spend a long time researching for this. Additionally the overall video quality, editing and organization is awesome. Give yourself a pat on the back, mate!
Damn why am I here in October 2024
Fr
I started just as 1.6 was starting and 1.5 was ending and Kazuha was my first limited banner 5 star (I liked him cause he was pretty) and I'm happy with him, I'm going for Klee in 2.8 as I couldn't get her last time
me who pulled venti in 2.6 bc i wasnt playing back then: 🗿
this was a very interesting video, personally i started playing during the kokomi banner :) the only banner i spent on was the venti rerun, apart from that ive been generally decently happy with everyone else i've gotten (c1 xiao, zhongli, etc)
looking forward to kazuha!
I appreciate your analysis with its concise and gentle delivery. It was great to watch as a refresher, thank you!
XD
As a C2 Kazuha haver, I will say this:
Don't trust what the community says, trust your own guts and pull for all the support characters
But the community literally says to pull for supports? Am I missing something?
Yeah his c2 is defined not worth 200$ just to get inbuilt sacrificial and 200 em.
Ok meta slave
@@brendanarthie7703 ok waifu slave
I will never not be miffed at how much Kokomi got shat on when her debut banner released, I literally skipped over Raiden in favor of her out of spite and it was unironically one of the best decisions I ever made. Couldn't ask for a better healer, and unlike some people I know that not every character is made to be a DPS lmao
It makes me really happy to know her rerun did so much better (tbh I don't usually pay much attention to sales numbers so I wasn't aware it was so high up), Kokomi is my baby and she got done SO dirty the first time around.
This was a really interesting watch overall. Thanks, man c:
This is a really good video. Short and to the point so i dont get bored watching. Great work!
Thank you for the reminiscing. It’s been such a journey so far…
Ayaka is also Mihoyo's girl. Her birthday is the same as Genshin as well.
Hoping to get Kazuha in 2.8 and hope everyone pulling for him get him too 😊
Awesome work man. Very well made
I loved taking a trip to Genshin's memory lane. Thanks for taking us there
seeing this video in 4.3 really makes me want to see you talk abouit the banners that happened after this video
Don't worry Yoimiya, I'll pass up on Kazuha just for you...
i hope you have prepared her materials and weapon ready for her
I believe majority of the player base relies on content creators when trying to decide if they will pull for a character on not.
As someone who has joined relatively recently (2.4) I really enjoy these deep dives into the history of the game and what has happened on all fronts
I love how this videobalso doubles as a Genshin Patch recap video. Oh the memories.
Raiden Shogun, the dictator, being the preferred character in china is just ironically hilarious
Phenomenal work on this one RedFlaim.
1.6 kazuha havers rise up
(Rises up)
Wait what’s the longest character w/o a rerun?
Thank God I won the 50/50 in kazuha's debut banner. Hope for anyone to get him this coming 2.8 patch!
@@acciolovegood3311 as of now it is keqing, klee, kazuha
Lost prayers is not really a weapon a whale wants it's not elegy+ homa. Your second option longest character without rerun it contributes more to having less sales because people saved up for him. It's like around Hu Tao rerun if I'm being honest
It baffles me everytime those charts come out. And I guarantee Kazuha's rerun will be record breaking.
Skipped Kazuha once to save my guarantee for Yoimiya. I'll skip him a second time to try for Yoimiya cons.
Really enjoyed this type of video, Sumeru is going to be insane, I wonder how soon we'll have a new #1!
Biggest factor in sale's honestly is just player word of mouth and the character personality/aesthetic
Meta player's think strength is what determines sale's but honestly.
You'll get your dead memes like people who love to shit on Xinyan or Yae but even for those players who still chase the meta they'll realize that having broken unit's you can't enjoy
Whether its boring gameplay easy metrics to improve damage or just it feeling repetitive pulling for a character you enjoy is way more worth it
I agree, I never understood the people that are obsessed with meta, characters are always judged based on if they can do better that the current "optimal rotations" but they also say that the game is easy but Ayato, Itto and Yelan aren't good enough in a game where people have beaten abyss with 2 characters, like c'mon.
But yeah I guess the sales somewhat reflect that
@@Rex13013 wait what? Who actually says ayato, itto and yelan of all people aren’t good enough? They must be smoking something.
If the character is not meta they are not going to sell.
When comparing two banners I'd probbly adjust the sales for run time (similar to GDP vs GDP PPP) and ad two more adjusters: hype/gamestate (if players r bored and/or angry, or happyand/or hyped for update) and popularity of previous character.
This way we could simply see popularity of banners/characters (which is combination of strength of kit + marketing + design and personality)
I'd love to see that graph.
i would loev a updated video on this, after the correct raiden finishes
You’re definitely undercutting the many many people who see the new characters and skip because they look mid, only for them to be great and make them pull on the rerun
