    I was struggling for weeks to get my midcaps to feed. tried everything, new magazine springs (with which it worked for a few days because they were so strong), all kinds of combinations with barrels and hop-up units, .. finally stumbled upon this video and found the solution here. I sanded down my maple leaf bucking and it all works perfectly now. Thanks a lot for this video!!

    Thanks, this is a very informative video! However, I think that by sanding down a perfectly good barrel you are tying yourself to Maple Leaf buckings. Using a custom 3D printed C-clip (if you own or have access to a 3D printer) that is made to fit that wrongly flushed barrel cutaway, might be a better idea. Just you have to keep in mind that you might end up making a custom slightly longer hopup arm as well, because the hopup window in that case is ~0.5-0.8 mm even further outside.
    Right now I am working on such a solution for my Prowin + Maple Leaf combination, but I have problems testing the hop up consistency, because I don't have a back yard long enough to do the testing... ;)
    Also, I've heard that there are these 0.4 mm thick O-rings that you are supposed to put on the shoulders of a Maple Leaf bucking to deal with the lips that are too long, but I'd rather sand them down, because the O-ring pushes the barrel even further outside.
    Anyway, WTH is the deal with these Maple Leaf buckings?!? People are praising them, but from what I see, they're totally out of specs!

    Do not dremel your expensive hop up chamber. DONT! JUST buy another quality hop up rubber. That is the smarter and easier way.

    Maple Leaf bucking in a Prowin hop on a PDI barrel just wouldn't feed in the drop test, because the lips of the bucking were
    protruding too far. Rather than filing anything down, and following your advice, I simply tried other buckings, like Madbulls, and they fed perfectly.

    You mentioned that the shoulder of the maple leaf bucking is too thick for the c-clip slot to line up properly. I have experienced this with a krytac unit/inner barrel, so much so that the c-clip fails to install. I do not have access to a lathe so I have wrapped the barrel with teflon tape around the c-clip slot section so that it provides resistance when inserted into the chamber. My question is, do you think this will suffice or is modification of the bridge required? Thank You

    • @BingoAirsoftworks
      @BingoAirsoftworks  8 років тому

      +Nathan Wilkening It might work, the key is to not have the inner barrel move when the BB is shot. If the barrel is held in place so it doesn't move and doesn't rotate, then you will be fine. I would fire a few 100 rounds through it then inspect the barrel/hopup and see if things have shifted.

    1. Will a better hop up feed better/Faster without jamming ? I'm running a p* and the other day I had it at 42 rps no jams at all then today I played a few games and then it just jammed like crazy.( using mid caps) so I had to run super high settings.
    2. Does bb weight affect how well mags will feed and if the gun will jam or not.
    btw I was using the crappy g&g green bucking with stock g&g hop up and barrel. ( I'm getting a prowin and orga)

    So I installed a macaron hop up bucking in my cyma dragunov. I replaced my stock bucking with the maple leaf, and my stock nub with the maple leaf concave nub. Maybe I'm an absolute idiot and did something completely wrong, but when I tried to use it, my gun made a horrible noise, didnt fire on the first trigger pull, but on the second one, two bbs came out, and the fps was dramatically reduced from what it should be. In fact, if I applied ANY amount of hop, the fps was dramatically reduced to the point it was no longer functional. Accuracy and range dramatically reduced. What the heck. Can someone help?

  • @KingAzaz
    @KingAzaz 6 років тому

    ( 3:05 ) With the bucking part about it being a bad thing if the bb wouldn't be able to get passed the bucking is false. Yes, this can cause jams, but only if it isn't aligned right. Having the lips of the bucking do that is for accuracy and consistency. because if it didn't have the lips then there would be many variations in the bb's flight

    Great video! I have a problem with my Rs type 56-1 which I've just installed an inferno engine inside. It looks as though the nozzle protrudes too far into the hop up chamber preventing Bb's entering the chamber. What would you recommend?

    • @bingoairsoftdesigns4115
      @bingoairsoftdesigns4115 8 років тому

      +John Malcolm If the nozzle is prevent BBs from falling into the hopup when fully retracted, it's too long. I'd recommend trying an M4 nozzle (they are slightly shorter for the inferno), or you can sand down the nozzle to make it short enough to allow BBs to get into the hopup properly. Then just check it against the bucking lips to make sure it makes a good air seal.

      I have this situation on a fairly new stock P90 (only about 2500 rounds fired). Never opened or anything. The nozzle protrudes into the bb entry hole and keeps bbs from dropping completely down but still fires them. A 2nd P90 we have doesn't do this and has a bit more impact power. Any suggestions?

    Thanks for this video, it helps a lot! On 5:15 you performed the push-through test. You said that the bucking should give very little resistance. However, in my case, the bucking doesn't give any resistance. In fact, the bb just felt through the bucking without pushing it. Is this an issue? and how can I solve this issue?

    I like the Maple Leaf Hopup bucking + Bucking, but I find that adjusting hop is way too sensitive in both a prowin and a normal (systema) hopup unit. Any tips?
    BTW I had same problem with too thick maple leaf bucking shoulders and used your tip about thinning the bridge on the barrel. I just used a CNC mill instead of a lathe. Worked like a charm. I still have problems with the amount of hop is varying too much on my madbull 6.03 + prowin + maple leaf bucking/nub combo, but I think thats a seating issue that may be fixed by sanding the lips (?)
    My PDI 6.01 + prowin + prommy purple (flathop modded) + prommy bridge hop-up nub combo works fine.

    • @BingoAirsoftworks
      @BingoAirsoftworks  9 років тому +1

      xxthehuskycaboosexx Remove the hopup and inner barrel from the gun and look down the hopup while adjusting it from off to full on. Do you see the bucking nub drop down into the inner barrel when the hopup is fully on? It should be very visible and protrude significantly into the barrel. If it is not, check and make sure the window is at the top and centered, and make sure the hopup spacer properly fits into the barrel window. If the spacer is too big, it won't press down on the bucking properly (also make sure the spacer isn't missing).

    Hello im using the prowin hop up chamber, Maple Leaf bucking and a Madbull black python v2 6.03 tight bore barrel and im woundering if you could show the video how did you modify your barrel so the hop up chamber fits perfectly, becouse atm the c-clip doesn't fit properly.
    Ty

    • @BingoAirsoftworks
      @BingoAirsoftworks  9 років тому

      Yes, the maple leaf bucking has very thick "shoulders" so the barrel doesn't go far enough into the hopup for the C clip to attach. I lathe down the end of the barrel, the hopup end, where the window is located. I make the "bridge" of the window about half it's thickness. I then deburr and file it down so there are no sharp edges. You can do the same modification using a dremel and sanding drum. Just like how I sand down the bucking, you can sand down the end of a barrel. It helps to have the barrel rotating in a drill. Just chuck the barrel in the drill, clamp the drill to a workbench or table. Then use one hand to steady the end of the barrel, while you sand down the window bridge with the dremel. Make the bridge more narrow. Make sure to round off the edges of the barrel so it's not sharp to prevent it from cutting your bucking.

    I had all this problems with my maple leaf and prowin. Lips sticking out, so I trimmed the part of the lip in the way so the bb could feed. Then it feed but was way to hard to pass trough. I end up cutting the lips away completely. Sorted, but of course, I had a 20 - 30 fps drop.
    I wish I watch your video year ago.. Thanks for the info.

  • @SJAAdvisor

    Would the Prommy blue (Delta) bucking be acceptable to use if you sanded in I.D. of the lips? I kind of like them b/c I don't have to sand down the nub & ridge when installing a flat hop mod.

    • @BingoAirsoftworks
      @BingoAirsoftworks  10 років тому

      If you can get them to work by sanding down the ID on the bucking, excellent. Just make sure it's even and not too large as you want to maintain an air seal with the nozzle. But it seems like it would be just as easy to remove the nub and ridge on a standard bucking.

    Really good video, explains things perfectly about buckings -
    My big question -
    If your bucking lip isnt holding a bb at all , does that cause issues?
    Hop completely off - bb rolls right through the barrel, the bucking is a maple leaf, and the lip just doesnt catch the bb, the hop is fine though
    I wonder if the space in between the bucking lip and hop would allow for a double feeding issue

    I know this video is old but it’s very informative and detailed. I wanted to note at the end how he said you can adjust your barrel because your bbs may be shooting slightly left or right... If you look through the end of your hopup into the barrel while holding it in your hand, you’ll see the nub coming down as you rotate the hopup arm up and down and if it’s coming down crooked then you know your accuracy will be off before you install the barrel in the upper receiver. Everything has to be aligned perfectly if you want optimum performance. Working on your Airsoft gun isn’t hard until you get into the gearbox. I haven’t gotten there yet but I’m just now getting comfortable moving onto that.

    I usually use Delta Strike barrel, Prowin chamber, purple prommy bucking with inner cleaned up and the prommy bridge tensionner, imo it's a very good setup, since the ProWin chamber gives an extremely precise regulation whereas a Marui standard system is terrible.

  • @1nightmare
    @1nightmare 10 років тому

    TY for a great video! A couple of questions:
    1. How would you do an air seal test using a macro line with an SMP since the latter has a "rear-biased" nozzle?
    2. Maple Leaf bucking: What nub are you using with it? A Maple Leaf flat hop nub, a regular nub, or a custom nub (like an M-nub or other flat hop nub)? Interestingly, I personally never had good results with a Maple Leaf compared to my custom flat hop (using a Prommy Hop Up Tensioner).
    PS: You might find the same fitting issues with a Lonex hop up unit in combination with a P* like with the G&G hop up as depicted in your video. At least, that's the problem I have with AEGs...

    • @BingoAirsoftworks
      @BingoAirsoftworks  10 років тому

      For the SMP, you could remove the front cylinder and put a small piece of foam into the base of the nozzle (about the size of a sugar cube) and then reassemble the Engine. This should push the nozzle forward and hold it in place. Then reassemble the gearbox and gun, and then do the air seal test. If it checks out, then take it apart again and remove the foam piece. Regarding #2, I use the Maple Leaf hopup tensioner (spacer) or a stock spacer (technically these aren't called nubs, the nub is the part that imparts the backspin on the BB). I used to do a lot of flat hops, but found the Maple Leaf worked as well for me, but the Maple Leaf hopup tensioner is a nice spacer and it would probably work well for flat hops. I'm going to be doing some experimenting with the Modify flathopup bucking and spacer also.

    • @BingoAirsoftworks
      @BingoAirsoftworks  10 років тому +1

      The same type of tests will work. You can do the BB push through test with the upper half of the hopup and the barrel. To do the drop test, you can do this with the Fusion Engine removed from the body (or just remove the nozzle from the FE), assemble the upper and lower receiver, then drop the BB in and see that it falls all the way into the hopup. I'll be doing another video soon showing how to shim the FE to align the nozzle in the hopup.

    • @bingoairsoftdesigns4115
      @bingoairsoftdesigns4115 8 років тому

      Did you do the push through test? How easily do the BBs push through? Are you using a JACK or a Fusion Engine? Make sure your DP setting is high enough so you aren't getting a dead shot. For the JACK, start at 99 then lower it until the FPS drops. For the FE, start at 25 and then bring it down until the FPS drops or you get deadshots.

      Beau Carter I think a significant contributing factor is the type of nub you use with the bucking. For example, a flat nub 'subjectively' seemed to work better with the REAPs, where as a circular nub was quite bad. Conversely I get good results with the maple leaf with a circular nub, but average results with a flat nub. Hop performance is is possibly a function type of nub AND nub-to-bucking-to-BB contact area and how evenly the pressure is applied to the bucking-bb. Also distortion of the bucking may also be a factor when applying hop (which I guess the Rhop tries to reduce). The distortion seems to be a bigger problem with thin AEG buckings for me, and less of a problem on GBB which have thicker rubber.
      If someone could build a transparent barrel/hop unit/rubber, or find a way to measure applied backspin RPM on the BB, it might be easier to quanify the effect of these variables, but until then, its mostly science by qualitative observation.

      BingoAirsoftworks I've just found the PW original at 18$+6$ of shipping at WGC goo.gl/bUOB2B
      For 3$ more than the 5ku i think i'm going for the PW,
      I'm having firing issues with my VFC SR15, i installed a Guarder HighSpeed motor and it's doing around 35rps (a lot rof for my taste but..) and the problem is that in auto the bbs fall just out of the gun because the stock hopup can't handle that much ROF i'm currently using a Madbull blue bucking and DeepFire 6.02; on semi fire it performs excellent doing a great grouping at 60meters.
      Do you think the PW could handle it? with what bucking? I've just bought the A+ REAPS ME3 80º, i thought that harder bucking equals less deformation of itself and more presure will gave to the bb in auto.
      I almost always go on semi firing but sometimes auto is necessary.... so i need to fix this issue

      You may need to sand down the window side of the inner barrel so it's not pushing against the bucking so much, causing the bucking mouth to narrow. BBs are jamming up in the hopup since they aren't making it through the bucking, causing the multiple shots. Are you using the prommy blue bucking or the purple one? If using the prommy blue (flat hop) bucking, replace that bucking, it's very bad and causes jams such as this.

    • @halationmedia
      @halationmedia 8 років тому

      I´m using the purple one: www.evike.com/products/31081/ . I´m just so bummed cause I got all these quality stuff and it still jams haha.

      +Bingo Airsoft Designs I found the problem; it doesn't jam when I use my old chamber with the new barrel and the purple bucking. But when i use my new prowin it jams, so either the prowin is to tight or it's not compatible with my gun. (Sorry for bad english)

      +Vicente Souza The hole in the top of the hopup is there to help prevent double feeds (I believe). No need to close it up, the air seal isn't with the hopup body, it's between the nozzle and the bucking lips only.

I don't think it's a battery problem because I was using a smart charger, I asked my friends and they said that its with the bucking. I'm going to evike to get it checked out. I'm not sure if it's a bucking problem, or a battery problem. What do you think?

      Battery doesn't change FPS, only the rate of fire. The spring still travels the full distance if it fires.

    • @traxxasbro5604
      @traxxasbro5604 6 років тому

      Open the gearbox and check the compression/air seal of the cylinder. You likely aren’t getting any compression whatsoever, which is usually caused by an air leak around your cylinder head and/or the o ring around the piston head. I’d recommend getting an aluminum cylinder head that has double o rings as well as an aluminum nozzle. Also, wrap the bottom of the cylinder head with Teflon tape.
      Get some silicone grease and a few #14 o rings, and replace the o ring around the piston head. You’ll want to slightly enlarge the #14 o ring by stretching it over the cylinder and very briefly and gently heating the o ring with a lighter. Grease the piston head and o ring too. You should check the compression by putting your finger over the nozzle and trying to quickly push the piston into the cylinder...a good air seal will stop the piston about halfway through the chamber.
      This same exact issue happened to me after about 1000 rounds through a brand new Classic Army Skirmish EC2...I replaced the cylinder head and nozzle as well as the piston o ring and my FPS returned to its normal 350 FPS immediately.

      Magnus Ohme You might be able to replace it with an M4 hopup, but you'll need to add a spacer between the hopup and cylinder to make sure the hopup is located in the correct place for the nozzle and magazine.

    • @BingoAirsoftworks
      @BingoAirsoftworks  9 років тому

      +670Noah You will need to completely disassemble and reassemble your hopup/barrel/bucking. Your hopup nub has probably been dislodged and/or your barrel window is no longer at the top dead center location.

    jams at the bucking when i use a c clip but when i remove it, it's fine. is it that important to use one?

    • @BingoAirsoftworks
      @BingoAirsoftworks  6 років тому

      Yes, the C clip keeps the bucking/inner barrel from moving forward (and shifting) in the the hopup. If having the C clip in is causing the bucking to jam, then it means the bucking is likely incorrect for the hopup or the inner barrel isn't correct spec. Which the C clip in, it's pushing the barrel toward the mouth of the hopup, either the C clip slots are in the wrong place, or the bucking mouth is too thick. Try a different bucking.

      +Travi-boy does it all Extract the inner barrel and hopup from the gun and look down the hopup as you increase/decrease the hop. Make sure you see the nub descends into the inner barrel. If it's not appearing, then check your hopup and make sure you have a proper spacer in placed under the adjustment arm.

    Hey man, thanks for the video, i learned a lot! But i found a problem that i can't resolve...
    The bb drop test works perfectly in my prowin + g&g green bucking. but when the gun is assembled the 'bb drop test' fails, and i figured it out it is the very tip of the airnozzle is the cause for that, but i have no idea what to do, because if i adjust my hopup to be just that 1mm more in front, my gun loses FPS (probably due to airleak from the nozzle-bucking...) do you have any suggestion?

    • @BingoAirsoftworks
      @BingoAirsoftworks  7 років тому

      What type of gun? Which HPA engine? (or AEG?)
      The hopup should be flush up against the fast of the gearbox/engine. It should not be moved forward.

      BingoAirsoftworks but if i leave it pressed against the gearbox, the airnozzle doesnt let the bb feed

    • @BingoAirsoftworks
      @BingoAirsoftworks  7 років тому

      With an AEG, you can't do a drop test when the hopup is pressed up against the gearbox because the position of the nozzle is dependent on the where the sector gear is and the tappet location. So depending on where the gearbox stopped, the nozzle could be in any position. If the BBs aren't feeding, it is likely due to low BB feed pressure, so it isn't pushing the BBs up into the hopup hard enough. See my other video on BB feed pressure from mid cap magazines. There is a possibility your nozzle is the wrong length, but really all M4 nozzles should be pretty standard.

    Any idea in how to fit a Prowin Hop Up chamber into a KWA SR10??

    • @BingoAirsoftworks
      @BingoAirsoftworks  9 років тому

      It's possible but I don't recommend it. The KWA closes like a scissors, and if you put a Prowin in there then you won't be able to close it that way. You would have to install the gearbox/engine into the upper first, then attach the lower and grip. To install a prowin, you will need to dremel out the lower receive to make room for the hopup to drop in from above.

      Test the C clip on the barrel without the hopup in place. See if the C clip fits into the side grooves and make sure it also sits flush against the barrel. If the barrel rotates too easily in the hopup, try adding some teflon tape around the bucking to make it less loose. A barrel that long needs to be supported along its length to prevent any warping or bending. Look down the barrel with a flashlight, and make sure it's a perfectly clear and straight view to the nozzle.
