I have this rolex 18238 and I bought it second hand. I am very proud to own such a magnificent watch and the dial is just my choice. (Roman numeral-Champagne dial)

There may be larger watches, more expensive watches, and even more hyped modern Rolex models, but to me, the Day-Date has very few peers in the dress watch segment. And those peers carry names like "Master," "Calatrava," "Patrimony," and "Royal Oak." While these rivals have the edge in finish, the "Pres" has the edge in toughness, and Rolex heritage is second to none in the industry ;-)

Seeing people take them apart & learning the history of the Day Date pulled me deeper. I still have more, a lot more to learn.
A good video and not one of these 24 minute videos. The daydate seems to fit better than my GMT. My DD is the yellow gold 36mm. I do like the white dial because of the hands. Very easy to read. I don't think the 36mm is to Gowdy .
Love it. But I think there's just a bit too much gold. Would have been better with a white or black dial
+Roelf van der Merwe True, it's a piece for gold super fans, but I really enjoyed the texture of the tapestry. And the sweet tritium fade probably comes across better in person than video.

I owned the Omega Aqua Terra with the "teak" design dial...loved it but sold it to buy a Rolex 116300 with the blue stick dial. I'm still looking out for a second Rolex..like a Datejust with this tapestry dial would be it for me!
