I'd recommend a Mark instead, the good parts you like about this amp are due to it sounding closer to a Mark, honestly. I have most of the Mark line here, along with the Badlander and the Mark III and VII, specifically, sound like the Badlander, only they have way more gain and low-end on tap if you want. But then, the nice thing is that the Mark series can get razor sharp attack and tightness as well. These Badlanders sound good, but boy are they thin sounding, there is VERY little bass compared to everything else in the line or history. Also, the Badlander has the least gain out of every Mesa amp I have, it still needs a boost to get into a soaring lead tone.
Weird, I thought I responded to this comment? I was using my torpedo captor for this video so the ratings matched. Oscar is also correct though, there are safe mismatches that can be used.
For sure. There are more options with the captor, like mic types and mic placement options. The cab IR loader will also let you load your own IR profile if you want too. The pre-loaded cab IRs are definitely usable though.

For consistency and continuity. I wanted to keep the experiment with as many controls as possible. The cab clone on the badlander is awesome though
Mesa head through an orange cab is a classic. But orange cabs are 16 ohm and i dont think those heads had a 16 ohm out so how did you make it work?
The manual on the badlander says the impedance mismatching doesn't hurt this amp

I had a Precision Drive in front, but the amp really doesn't need one. Don't listen to people that say it does.
Is that a real Badlander? It has different knobs that the real one :D
I swapped the knobs with rectifier knobs because I thought it looked cooler 😉
