Boogie downsizes a demonic amp that just as capable of delicious clean tones.
Mesa/Boogie’s Badlander Series of amplifiers draw inspiration from MESA’s legendary Dual Rectifiers, paying homage to rock and heavy sounds in their own distinctive and percussive way, with a focus on today’s musical genres. Its tight low end, refined top end, and defined mids combine with MESA gain for huge tones that will appeal to rock leaning guitarists who like a bit of Brit influence with their American-voiced gain. The new Badlander 25 1x12 Combo uses the same straightforward channel format as its 50 and 100 Watt siblings, with 2 identical, footswitchable channels each containing Clean, Crunch, and Crush modes that feed an EL84 power section to deliver an unprecedented fierceness and harmonic complexity. The Badlander 25 Combo combines these ingredients in a small package and power range that adds a raw character all its own, offering the essential voice, performance, and features of the Badlander 100 and 50 in a fiery-sounding, ultra-portable low-power format that’ll gratify those not seeking big horsepower.
Badlander 25s employ a pair of EL84 power tubes operating in MESA’s proprietary Dyna-Watt Class A/B Pentode for maximum power, punch, and clarity, producing 25 Watts or switched to its 10 Watt Class A/B Triode setting for lush harmonics and a sweet, liquid feel at lower volumes.
A UK-made Celestion Creamback 65 Watt speaker is MESA’s driver of choice for this 1x12 Combo amp. G12M-65 Creamback is ideally suited for the Badlander 25 as its power handling permits added low-end grunt complementing the warm and vocal mids, crunchy upper-mids and sweet, refined highs.
The Badlander 25 Combo packs a built in CabClone IR Direct Interface making recording and cab-less live capture consistent and easy. Players can choose from a preloaded collection of eight Rectifier Closed-Back and Boogie Open-Back Cabinets IRs from MESA’s standalone CabClone IR for a wide array of sounds and responses.
A Tube-Driven, Series Effects Loop acts as a circuit bridge, permitting players to patch their favorite outboard effects between the preamp’s end to just before the Driver tube feeding the power section.
For guitarists seeking the tone and feel of an all-tube amplifier with huge sounding gain that is voiced to handle the demands of today’s musical genres while being incredibly portable, the Badlander 25 1x12 Combo delivers.

I rarely leave comments but had to say thank you for a real demo. Most all the videos I’ve watched of this amp just want to chug and play heavy metal riffs. And excellent playing!
So great to hear a demo of an amp that showcases some clean and lighter overdriven tones. Everyone else just does the "chug" tone demos.
John's on fire, y'all!
Always!! 🔥🔥
He could play a guitar just like a-ringin' a bell. Go go!
Jesus John, your soul shinin through there! love your playing and demos!
Holy cow, some of the best improv playing I've ever heard from one of my favorite guitarists... Mr. Bohlinger, I know you're a pretty devout Fender amp guy, but... I can't help but to think there's likely to be a new Mesa/Boogie Badlander in the living room background of some of the videos we'll be seeing soon after this, lol
The tone with the 335 was unbelievably good
Love waking up to a new review
Thanks brother John
Finally a review where the playing is not just 12 minutes off chugging
That Les Paul through that amp hits juuust right👌
the boogie california tweed combos are amazing amps and these look to be of the same quality. thanks for the great demo!
The first two minutes intro of this was so great, I kind of don’t need to watch any more. 😅 John, you’re an inspiration. Please keep demoing gear for us all!
Wow John, awesome demo!!
Killer playing as usual from John. Great sounding amps.
I always enjoy J's demos and rig run downs!
Damm this thing sounds incredible. I have been waiting over a year for my 112 Message Triple Crown from Sweetwater. Great playing.
Sounds great. Only MB I had was an F-30. Wish I still had it.
I was hoping you would demo every guitar you own , that was some incredible playing , actually quite beautiful !
Thanks for the Cowboy Song!…sounds fantastic 👏🏻😎🎸
You are the man, LOVE that guitar!!
Ive never heard Castles played with Nashville twang🤠🙌🏻
Love it
Love that Les Paul!!!!
Wow that tele sounded great!!
Great demo. I’ve got a Rectoverb 25 1x12. I love it and mostly for the cleans and break up tones. Just killer amps. Great to hear the baby Badlander in this range too.
Great amp and playing.
I'm surprised he didn't use a PRS on this. I thought when you bought any Mesa Rectifier amp it just came with a free PRS
I think they’ll be coming with Gibsons on of these days. (-;
Fun response = Guess that must be for the OG models that also needed a boost to sound right.
Real response = Since Mesa is now owned by Gibson, they probably pressed to showcase a Gibson in the demo.
Sarcastic response = See real response, then add in the conspiracy theory that this is part of Gibson's new private equity owner, KKR, ploy to try to tank the valuation of PRS so they can buy that too...
It’s not 1997 anymore
The best demo I have seen so far of this amps NON chug/metal tones.
Absolutely awesome playing John' and a really Sweeet amp! ,jus gotta git me a winning lottery tickit'😶🎸🎼
Great tones
Lovely amp!
I came justo to see this guy playing
Nice bends on the tele! You have spent too much time with Brent M and J5 sounded like a steel player for sure. Happy Christmas keep up the fun and knoledgeble reviews.
I’ve owned 3 Mesa amps, never spent time in the shop. I’ve owned 4 Fenders, 3 times needed repairs
ive had 2 Mesa Tremoverbs in the past. in the shop way too much. Said i'd never get another, but i dig the Badlander.
I got an old 85 S O B Boogie that I'll never part with. That said new Boogie's scare me. As nice as these are brand new, problems COULD arise and make buying 1 of these a nightmare.
Are the problems not with the multitube amps? I would think the more straightforward amps wouldn’t be a issue.
Why would those be hard to work on?
Congested 😮
Cool I love it 🤟🤟
" J " Bender This amp's duel dial set-up looks Rock'n...
When I heard the opening licks my brain said EL84s.
Mark Morton from Lamb Of God recently made a post praising the sound of his '69 goldtop w/p90s and a Schaffer Replica pedal through this same amp.
Mesa Good Couch Companion !
Castle made of sand nice ✌
This combo is the first thing from Mesa in a very long time that has my attention.. Was wondering if you can mute the amp for silent recording?
Not sure if you ever got this answered. You can unplug the speaker and the built in load takes over you do not have a speaker plugged in.
WOW B Bender Les Paul!
I would have preferred bigger tubes in this amp. I had the Fillmore 50 with 6L6's until they came out with the Fillmore 25 with 6V6 tubes and couldn't be happier. Would have liked to see this with 5881 tubes.
Get the Badlander 50 combo and swap the EL34s for 5881s.
The filmore amps sound small. Especially if you brighten them up for crunchier sounds . Idk why Mesa didn’t make em a bit meatier sounding .
In one of their videos they said multiple times they didn’t want it have much bottom end .
I love the top end but it’s a small sounding amp . The 6v6 is very narrow sounding and then the 6l6 is kinda too bright if you try and get midrange out of it.
They should have made the amp with an option to combine a 6v6 and 6l6 circuit to fill each other out .
Lovely GOLD TOP‼️ what’s the year ?
54
nice strap on that tele.
miss my caliber .22
One red string for Christmas spirit?
whats the red string on the les Paul?
Broke a string on a gig last night, had an old set of DRs reds in my bag.. changed one string... did video this morning on same mismatch set
Incredible tones from this amp. In less than a year the price has shot up 300 bucks! 😠🤬
Gosh , just had gas for the new supro amulet and now this , sadly though mesa 's are not for sale anymore in the EU , thanks gibson , you bunch of silly twats ! , so yeah guess it is going to be the supro wich is a great amp also .
Looks like Gibson got a 2 for 1 paid advertisement with this demo. Gibson owns Mesa for those that don't know. The only thing missing was also an advertisement for KKR, the private equity firm that owns both Gibson and Mesa.
It’s this or the filmore , no money for toys these days 😂
Out of my price range so I got the 50 watt origin from Marshall
What is it like to be in the class that can afford these things?
$1800
Ouch
2,200 now. @@mikewiest5135
$1600 for the head, or $1850 for the 1x12 combo. Good lord... We live in a world now where many tube 15-25 watt lunchbox amp heads (MT-15, OR15, Rocker 15, Terrors, 5150 III, etc) are in the $700-800 range, economy is in the shitter, and here comes Mesa thinking it's still 1998.
YAY! More multi-PCB’s that an amp tech won’t wanna touch. Why do most techs hate MESA? HMMMMMM, I wonder.
69th LIKE! (DON'T touch it any more viewers! )
Lot's of bells and whistles but it's boxy sounding and has no reverb. Enjoy kids.
Seems like MB is finally going the way of marshall... Obscurity.
This is like a MB version of a Marshall MG series amp. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
As always,,,, you Reek of massive and excessive use of Reverb!
Some reek of reverb and some just reek. 🤷🏼♂️
