Even disregarding the considerable educational value of these shorts - they are such exceptionally well crafted little pop songs that they seem as familiar to me now as they did five decades ago.
It feels like 1975 and I am lying on the floor wrapped in a blanket at 7:00 AM waiting for Scooby Doo to start on Saturday morning. Ahh great memories.
I learned a lot from School House Rock, The Electric Company and Sesame Street as a kid. I will always remember the preamble to the constitution thanks to School House Rock! I am now a teacher and find that these videos are still relevant today!
As a kid, that last note would get stuck in my head. I didn't know what the word meant so I'd just say, "Intowoulditbe" and that would play on my head on repeat when I got older and came back to this song wayyyy later, and was listening all the way to the end expecting to hear "intowoulditbe" but instead heard "indubitably" I felt some sort of instant growth feeling.
90's kid here but I grew up on most of the same movies and music that my parents did, so this makes me real nostalgic too:) I still remember these songs lol they've really helped me in life
PREACH THAT!!!!! I am 59 years old and I'm singing along with this song as I incorporate this video within my upcoming tutoring lesson for a 3rd grader!!!! FOREVER CLASSICS.
On SNL parody sketches, you get Ritalin and other behavioral drugs at Dysfunction Junction; you buy cheap school cafeteria foods at Fatty's (instead of Lolly's)
The Schoolhouse Rock series, the music, the lyrics, the way it is all put together, the goal of the whole program is quite possibly the most brilliant and creative television ever shown. I am 40 and I still watch these every now and again because they are so well done. They were so helpful to me. I am glad to see kids today love these as much as I do.
This just made me so emotional. Growing up with no cable in the 90s, this would come on and completely make my day!! And the instrumental always stuck with me!
Just take away the vocals for a minute....the instrumental to this is phenomenal. I remember on the DVD "diner" menu screen it played if you waited. And then the end of one of the actual TV episodes played it during the credits. I want to find that whole thing in instrumental sooooo bad!!!
OMG the nostalgia these amazing tunes awaken, miss so much those Saturday mornings in the mid 70s, I was a small boy and loved watching School House Rocks.
I grew up in The 70s and I remember all of these classics from ABC on Saturday mornings. Thank you ABC. It looks like today's teachers are telling their students to watch "Schoolhouse and History Rock". Way to go teachers and kids. You'll enjoy it.
2000's kid here. I was struggling a bit in elementary school, my grandmother saw this as an opportunity to show me the wonderful school house rock. She showed me Im just a bill, conjunction junctions, nouns, verb, interjections, adverbs, 3's, 5's, shot heard around the world, preamble, etc etc. I grew up on this gem in elementary school. Just because something is old doesn't mean they aren't useful anymore.
Sigh, good memories! I remember watching this in the mid '80's while waiting for more cartoons to come on. We need more cartoons like this...thank you PBS!
I used to either laugh out or wear a funny smile on my face everytime I heard this tune on Saturday morning cartoon shows..The vocalizing sounded so silly but in truth....I loved it.😄😄😄😄
30 years old and remember watching this in the late 90s early 2000s. This popped in my head after a long day at work. Lol what a trip down memory lane ❤
Adverbs are made easier to understand by these catchy and jazz tunes that guide young learners to catch up with the content of what adverbs is and its rhyme makes memorizing easier too !
Back when I was a kid in 2008-2009, I used to have a hard time in school with different subjects. My dad had this on disc and spent an entire Saturday playing everything from back to back. It helped me get everything down especially English and Math.
For some reason, not only this video taught me about adverbs, it brings nostalgia to me as well. This video helped me to understand the concept of adverbs, since I was a bit confused before.
This was always one of my favorites! Perhaps my very favorite School House Rock, or maybe a tie with Figure Eight. The first short bridge, where it goes "an adverb is a word, that modifies a verb," with the little kid's asides ("Some-times a verb, some-times...") is very interesting. This song has stayed with me for 40 years. Wow.
I remember these being on TV when I was a kid and it really helped when I was in school cause I would remember the songs....This was back when TV helped kids learn in a creative and fun way....Wish this was the case today
I love how, in the "-ly attachment" scene, just as "softly" is written on a cloud, "surely" is written a tombstone, as in, the only certain thing in life is death. 😄 Very clever.
Very classic and good job to the animators! Learning grammars especially adverbs has never been so easy before watching this video. This video does not only explain adverbs but also giving examples of how adverbs are used in daily life!
Probably my favorite Schoolhouse Rock melody. I need to learn to play the piano just so I can play and sing this song. All the ladies will then be mine!
To remind you about the fact that most adverbs end in "-LY" Slow-LY, Quick-LY, Ridiculous-LY So they made a word they repeated over and over in the song to stick in your mind reminding you about Adverbs. They did this rather cleverly, don't you think? ;-)
It explains the use of adverbs very clearly as the lyrics of the songs states the reason of why adverb is needed in a sentence. I also like how they make it very interesting for the kids to learn adverbs by applying stories of a store situation
I remember my first grade teacher would play these songs as background music if the class kept up with their work. The boys always cheered as soon as "Lolly" played.
'At your service', indeed...a bona-fide sing-along classic. And, whaddaya know, you can actually LEARN something from it. Since cable has 500 channels of almost nothing but crap, a Schoolhouse Rock channel would be a welcome addition to the TV wasteland!
This tune suddenly appeared in my mind out of the blue. And I knew it was some sort of educational song from when I was in elementary but I could not find it until now. Thank God cos it was driving me mad!
This is catchy! After watching a few other videos that are similar to this (as in Grammar Rock), I think most kids will like this one. I like how it gives a general idea of what adverbs are because young learners wouldn't have to go in depth yet when they are learning about adverbs. Just a general idea is enough, such as giving the definitions, examples and the categories of adverbs.
We were going through adverbs in homeschool and this song came to me and now I can't get it out of my head....so what do I do? I come here to get a fresh reminder and now it will never leave my mind!!! Lolly, lolly, lolly get your adverbs here.........ugh!

I remember watching them on VHS.
