      I have the Ibera wall mounts for my three bikes. It is a great option. Great flexibility for frame options. However, if I had to choose again I would get the SteadyRack. With the steady rack you’re going to be able to fit a lot more bikes on your wall as opposed to using the Ibera wall mount.

  • @BobGamble
    @BobGamble 4 роки тому

    Hi. Nice choices. I would need a steady rack of the three you demonstrated. The specs state for fat tires that they are for no more than 2.8" wide. I have a RadRunner that has 3.3" wide. From your video it looks like it should fit. I wonder why they have the width restriction. Any thoughts?

    • @rgmtb
      @rgmtb  3 роки тому +1

      Tough one. Sometimes tire companies give widths and are not always true to the size. Maybe Steady Rack was trying to play it safe? Either way, I love these things and use them every day for my bikes!

    I'm not sure what kind of walls your attaching to but I figured I'd have to use a stud finder to screw into so the attachment doesn't pull out. And sure enough the first video I came across was on the Clug and the guy figured out right away that he had to attach the Clug to a cabinet as the wall wouldn't work. So I watch your video and it doesn't seem to be an issue in your case. 'splain please.

    • @rgmtb
      @rgmtb  4 роки тому

      Very good question. So here's the deal, I have magic walls..... No, just being a PITA! Normally I will always look for a stud and did for the other two racks. With the clug I used these dry wall things that push through the dry wall and pull apart on the other side. These things are crazy strong! I'm responding via my phone right now so I'll link them to you later. Still, I would rather use a stud. Also, part of this depends how tight the wheel gets clamped in that clug. Road bikes just pop out easy. MTB tired get stuck in there rather tightly.

    • @rgmtb

      Sorry for the late reply. Yes it would but if the bike has fenders you might need to get the rack that allows for them. But all in all, you can put any bike on these and be good to go.

    I've read vertically storing a bicycle with hydraulic brakes will bleed out/dry out the brake limes

    • @rgmtb
      @rgmtb  3 роки тому +1

      I've never had that problem. To be honest, I don't even know how that could happen unless you have a leak? That is a sealed system and there should be no problem at all. The only time you need to worry about stuff like that is with your suspension and that has more to do with the bike sitting around in storage too long.

  • @mikehoffman3690

    The Clug looks like a great inexpensive option. They may want to consider adding Velcro straps on each side to better secure the bike to the wall for longer storage periods.

    Would any of theese be a mountable option on a storage unit wall it would need to be non-invasive or portable with like retract or somthin, got anything that might fit

    • @rgmtb
      @rgmtb  3 роки тому

      Out of these three only the CLUG would be an option. Both others are going to need you to drill into the studs of the unit. I've personally not had a chance to test any of the racks that are poll based and press between the floor and ceiling.

    • @rgmtb

      That is a good point. So I attached mine into wood for most of my testing. The size of the plate would start to crush most drywall if your bike was heavy over time. Think about putting a piece of wood as a back plate behind the rack and attach both to the wall for safer results. It also comes down to the weight of the bike.

    With the steady rack how far apart did you space the racks to accommodate for the swivel of multiple bikes?

    • @rgmtb
      @rgmtb  4 роки тому

      I wanted to use studs (which is a must unless you put up some other mounting idea. DO NOT USE DRY WALL MOUNTING OPTIONS!!!!) so mine are 32 inches apart. If you want to go with studs you could get away with 16 inches but you would have to stager the hight to accommodate for handle bars. If you choice this option you will loose some swivel room but be able to mount more bikes. Hope this helps!

    • @mopargocarrick
      @mopargocarrick 4 роки тому

      Thank you for your response. I would definately use studs in our attatched garage for our three mountain bikes. Just the option to use this type or a style in which the bike is vertical on a movable stand. Such decisions!

    With a 1 car cinder block walls garage with a full size SUV, I currently hang my bike upside down off hooks on the ceiling. The Ibera Wall mount sounds like a better option for me. Just have to struggle with the drilling of holes in the block and lead sinkers to hold the bolts.
