  • In this mid year reset video, I start with the basics of how to figure out what you want and how to build a life you love at any age or stage especially once you are an empty nester. I use different ideas of how to start refining your dream as well as a beginners work out you can do at home with no equipment. Finally I share two journalling prompts to help you get some clarity on where you want to go in life. It's time to dream with the lid off. Have fun xx

I am starting my third month of recording daily walk miles in my pocket planner. I was listening to a podcast plan that was to walk 10 minutes daily no matter what. My lungs are feeling clearer. Dog and I were 5miles daily, so we are trying to increase. I was surprised to see it was over a mile to mow my lawn.

Great timing for me. I’m struggling with motivation and realized I suddenly don’t have any goals. I’ve lost a drive I used to have. Better health is great place to start. Thank you ❤

I am on a journey today. I am at the beach with my husband celebrating our 43 wedding anniversary. I have already decided to focus on my health because I am turning 65 this month. I already write in a journal and I already am able to do everything I want to do. What I struggle with is helping my mom and my brother. My husband also is dealing with his mother's health concerns with dementia. Thank you for the questions and reminders ❤❤❤

Congratulations on your anniversary and the beach is a great place to celebrate. You may need to build in as many mini breaks as possible into your calendar to look after your own health so you'll be able to manage the needs of your families. 💛🙋🏼‍♀

thank you for this segment . A few things I always wanted to learn ballet & tap dance ,but was never able to as a child. At the age of 46 I went to classes as a beginner with seasoned dancers, they took me under their wing to make my dream come true. We even had an opening night on stage . Of course I could not do what the seasoned dancers could, but I was given parts I could do When i went out on stage with my group to face the audience & the lights were on us I felt the most incredible feeling like I was a child having my dream come true . The next step I must keep focused on my health I have a torn hip, bursitis on it as well,& spinal stenosis walking was not an option so much pain I get shots every 3 months for my back, but last Tuesday had an injection in my groin for the torn hip that has helped so much .Everyday taking small walks to get me moving I keep a journal on my computer of what I am doing even the times I could do nothing . Tiny progress is being made & that is the beginning . Thanks again for this video Have a lovely day !

Hi Judy and that's a great example of finding a way to follow a dream... you are definitely a star 🌟It must be very difficult to have that level of pain but well done for doing what is safe and possible for you. Remember to give yourself a cheer in your journal to remind yourself how well you are doing 🤗

The thing that has helped me with meal planning is writing down 2 weeks, or 15 days worth of meals. Go through the list, and then start at the top again. This way, you only need to come to p with 15 for a whole month, and you will eat the same meal only twice in one month.

Good morning from Texas, I have tried Journaling and have done it for several months and then I stop. I find it boring maybe because my life is boring. I do chair yoga for 20 mins, 5 days a week first thing after my morning coffee. I sleep so much better at night. I try not to eat after 5pm.
I find going out for a walk or going to Church is my go too. Love your suggestions and anxious to find something more to keep me busy besides sitting most of the day with my husband. ❤

I tend to go into a negative tails pin with Journaling.... not sure why, it just seems to bring out all the stuff isn't going well, I am feeling bad about, not doing well on, and the inner critic is just a pain. I don't even make it a week most of the time, so if you do several months you are doing good!

    • @DeirdreKnight1

I love the idea of your chair yoga especially if it helps you sleep. I've made a note to add some journalling prompts for you in an up coming video but for now maybe you could just jot down some things you see on your walks or a note about something inspirational from your Church service. keep it as simple as a bullet point about the way the plants in gardens you walk by are changing through the seasons. 🪴🍃

Deirdre, I started journaling this year. It was slow going, uncomfortable at first but now I really am into it and it holds me more accountable. Funny isn’t it that journaling did that. Something so simple. Nice to see you again, have a good week.

I'm in the habit of not allowing myself to dream big, so your prompt to come up with 10 outrageous dream ideas is a challenge for me. The other one is easier: what would you do even if you knew you would fail. I have been studying French for more than five years. I have made loads of progress and can carry on a simple conversation in an awkward manner. I will probably fail at becoming fluent, but it doesn't matter to me. Learning the language has expanded my mind. Therein lies the passion.

Hi Deirdre 😊, In answer to the first I enter the lottery once a week not won yet but I can live In hope and the 2nd one I did write a book (knowing I'd fail ) and I sent it to Jilly Cooper the author, this was years ago and I never heard anything back, so I did fail 😢. I just wish I had sent a copy to her and kept the original. Xx

Well done and that's definitely not a fail just a misdirection ... you needed to get an agent. I hope you decide to try again ... and win the lottery as well 👍🏼🙋🏼‍♀🧡

Wise words from a wise woman! Thank you, I have written your wisdom down to follow up with my own health building! A little tweak here and there. But as for journaling, that is another matter for me all together. In your comments from other lovely followers, you mention bullet journaling on what you see on your daily walk, or similar situations. Great points!!

I am so, so thrilled that you're back! I definitely want to start journalling again - not sure why I stopped, frankly. And if you figure out a simple formula for consistent meal planning, please let us know, since I'm clueless. 😀

Thank you for these thoughtful ideas for better self-care. Now that I’m a new content creator myself, I’ve been letting some of these things fall by the wayside. You’ve provided inspiration for me to start working my way back to myself. ❤

Hi Deirdre, I just got a new Apple Watch and getting on an exercise program. Logging in miles, steps, pickleball, etc. it’s very motivating to see progress and meet goals. I’m wondering about the formula for determining the amount of protein needed for our age, etc. When I worked it out it seemed really high. Just curious if you know.
