  • Here is the 2 methods I use to pop up a deadbait for Predator Species of fish, mostly I am a Pike angler so I have used this method to catch Pike but it has caught me Perch, Trout and Eels in the past so it works for all Predatory Species.
    You can use a foam pop up ball or a pop up boilie, with the pop up foam balls they are super bouyant and come in different sizes and colours to lift up a bait off the bottom. I have been experimenting with the pop up boilies from Dynamite Baits these can be soaked in oils and they suck up the oils so there's an instant scent trail coming off them as soon as the bait has settled on the bottom.
    David Scobie Angling Adventures stickers these are the perfect thing for your bait buckets and tackle boxes if you fancy picking up a few of them then please let me know.
    Links on how to get them available on the Facebook page:- / dfsangling
    Pike Fishing Tackle, this is a small run down of where I get my Pike Fishing Equipment. If you see me using something and the description isn’t here, then ask me and I’ll let you know.
    The Rods for bait fishing I use are BB350 12’ 3.5lb tc & D-3 13’ 4lb tc these are made by Dave Lumb of DLST www.dlst.co.uk/index.html Mr Lumb is a artist when it comes to building fishing rods if you’re in the market for a rod built to your own desires then Dave is your man.
    The Drop Arms I use are made by Pete Foster trust me these are the bog dangly bits as Pike Fishing Drop Arms go here’s a link to where you can get them from:-
    www.advancedpredprod.weebly.com Facebook Page:- / advanced-predator-prod...
    Reels I tend to stick with Shimano Reels as I trust them, I use a few different models of Shimano Reel for Pike fishing from Big Pits to Bait Runners.
    I get my bait oils, AFW Bleeding Leader Wire and terminal tackle from Eddie Turner www.eddieturner.co.uk/ Eddies Oil is simply the best there’s nothing that comes close to it in my humble opinion. He’s also a great font of knowledge and published author I have lost count of the times I’ve annoyed him for ideas on rigs and how best to fish certain locations.
    I use happily recommend two Dead Bait bait companies one is Nev Fickling’s Lucebait’s www.thetackle-shop.co.uk/secti... the other is Scotland’s finest Gadda Baits www.gaddabaits.com/ both are excellent.
    I happily recommend the tackle shop Fishing Tackle & Bait, www.fishingtackleandbait.co.uk/ in Enniskillen Northern Ireland. It’s my local shop it’s the sort of place I can go in and ask if they will order two different types of chair which they did I then picked one and bough it, not only was this not a bother to them they even matched the cheapest internet price for the chair I chose, David and the guys in FTB frequently bend over backwards to go that extra mile to help folk out.
    I'm not sponsored by any of the above companies everything I have on the bank with me is something I’ve paid out my own pockets for it.
    If you have any specific questions about the fishing tackle I use then feel free to ask me in the comments below this video or you can come on over to my Facebook page and I will happily answer any questions you have:- / dfsangling

    I often use pop ups for dead baiting but never thought about soaking them in mackerel or salmon oil. Great idea!!

    Super video mate! Would you use run rings or booms when adding the lead? I usually just put the weight straight onto the run ring but is it better to have a small length of mono from weight to run ring? Cheers for your help

    • @DavidScobie
      @DavidScobie  3 роки тому

      I use run rings amego glad to hear you enjoyed the video thanks for the comment buddy

    • @DavidScobie
      @DavidScobie  3 роки тому

      The length of mono is so if the lead gets snagged I can pull to break it and still get my trace back

  • @adl2005

    Easier to buy some balsa dowel cut to required length. Put a point on it and posh it down the deadbaits mouth.

    Hi Dave love all your videos. Just wondering if the pop ups might put some pike off where they are positioned? With most pike swallowing baits head first. Therefore they would need to swallow the actual pop ups. I’m guessing it doesn’t put them off then?

    • @DavidScobie
      @DavidScobie  2 роки тому

      Hey amego ideally you shouldn't let the Pike actually swallow the bait but I understand it can happen on the odd time, the only time I've been deeply hooked while popping up a bait the Pike didn't seem to care about the pop up boilie on the end of the bait.

      @@DavidScobie thanks davie I’m going to try the 2nd way you did it. It’s a nightmare fishing loch Ken in the west of Scotland with there being so many crayfish in the water. Could I ask where you bought your pop up boilies, riggin wire and bait needle from please? Much appreciated

    • @DavidScobie
      @DavidScobie  2 роки тому

      For Loch Ken I'd go with the foam ones mate they are more buoyant and as for rigging wire you don't really need it a old wire trace that's been kinked up will work just as well buddy

  • @Sonikks
    @Sonikks 2 роки тому +1

    You ever use Balsa sticks mate? Bought them last week, tried to pop up a roach and it sank like the titanic. Got the large ones too. I can't seem to get them to pop up. I was only using smelt and roach too.

      Yes mate all they are is basically a dough that's been boiled. If you boil semolina flour paste it floats for some reason.
      I'd not want to eat one personally but they wouldn't do you any harm.
