This is cute. Bro you’re replaceable. The building isn’t going to burn down if you leave. And if it does? That’s not your problem.

It's not the company or the building. It's the people you got to know working with them. Who cares what happens to the company? But the people you worked with and liked.

You leaving may open an opportunity for one of those people to move up.

I just put in my notice yesterday and I’ve been depressed about it ever since. Like the caller, I’m working seven days a week, there was no growth opportunity for me and I was offered something with better pay, hours and benefits. I love my job and the people in it, but I am stagnant. It’s time for an upgrade. I’ll always miss my current job, but I need to go where the opportunity is.

Yup, if you are providing tons of value at your company, capped off with zero room for growth, it's not your fault, it's them. That's the business owners fault for not anticipating this and providing a way for you to grow. The economy is going along with inflation and so you have to do what is right for you always and never stop being a good person in all situations.

i needed to hear this. I am quitting teaching after trying it for a year and theres so much emotional attachment to a teaching position. It makes leaving feel really terrible but the reality is the pace my position is is not a good fit, I am not making enough to live, and i found something more stable. Teaching has a very toxic aura of self sacrifice. like you are supposed to be a martyr and suffer through poor pay and disrespect because there's kids involved. and if you arent ok with that, "they just arent cut out for it." no, i dont hate myself and in any other field it would be considered crazy what modern teachers deal with. im protecting myself. rant over, but thanks so much for this.

Thank you for sharing this. I too just started teaching and feel the exact way. I haven’t found something that pays more, but I know what kind of business I want to start that I’m willing to wake up everyday for and work hard for.

I feel a bit guilty myself. I just quit my job yesterday. I had been working there for the past 3 months or so and that place had been an endless source of stress for me since I got there. So much to the point that I started to develop health problems because of it. The environment was incredibly toxic and the boss was a very cold person. I don't want to say mean and antagonizing because in some cases he had a right to be but it made the atmosphere so uncomfortable to stay in. Yesterday after feeling unwell, my blood pressure was high after the months of stress and something happened to trigger a panic attack. The boss witnessed this but didn't seem to care. I went back to work but after this he asked me a question about a job we were working on and I hadn't completely caught me breath after the panic attack, after which he made a criticism about low vocal volume which admittedly is an issue regularly for me but I this case I felt was unfair. I feel I overreacted and quit on the spot. I feel guilty about this but also relieved that I don't have to go back there. I have serious mixed feelings about this to be honest.

I had a job of 4 years and the upper management was turning to crap, they made us do things out of our pay grade, needed to be on our phones on off days, work on layout changes and fixture changes while still dumping a bunch of things on us. My store was visited and despite my loyalty and work, on my day off they came and spoke crap to my staff about me, then on a public groupchat mentioned how my store wasn’t in good shape, when i have been one of the highest scoring stores in my district for months straight but slipped up just 1 week of their visit. (1 week out of 4 years), and this one week i was labelled as the manager who had no ‘ownership’. Since no one was in my side, i quit effective immediately.
I used to see quitting effective immediately as a douche move, but it’s only a douche move if everyone treated you right and respectfully and you still left high and dry without helping your employer transition.
What i did was quit the same day, but filmed videos for my staff on tasks to carry out. I still through my anger made 2 weeks worth of schedules removing myself and going through all the procedures and helping the exact person who spoke crap about me just so that they wouldn’t get stressed. I asked a staff member who was quitting to stay back for 2 weeks to help them hire someone new, she wanted to quit the week, i said please stay back to help. So i didn’t ghost them, and while that’s what they deserved (not my staff, but the higher ups) , i chose to still help my staff despite the backbiting and unappreciative attitude i felt.
Quitting fast isn’t a douche move, just make sure the people you like are still supported and helped. You can leave but leave with a plan. Care about your staff so that when you leave, they know what to do. If 2 weeks of a notice is mentally traumatizing you because the job got bad, prioritize your mental state, nothing is worth that diminishing. 4 years in a company, what a shit show.

I quit my job today. It was a very comfortable position, but the pay was very low and there was no growth opportunity. I was stuck in the same position since the past 1 and a half year, there was no growth at all. But I still enjoyed going there. It used to be a break from my family for me.

  • @GeneralGorillaSonicOC

Thanks for this. I'm about put in my 2 weeks notice this morning. I'm leaving for many reasons. The first is because I was given an offer to another opportunity and I'm waiting for the go ahead to when I can start, the second is that one boss who I see as a mentor is leaving soon, the third was that I'm not getting paid for what I'm worth, the fourth is that I'm under appreciated and the fifth was that they threatened to terminate me for having an urgent dentist appointment for a tooth extraction due to a periodontal abscess. So yeah I'm out and I'm not accepting counter offers. Once they replace me with a crappy person maybe they'll realize what they lost.

Enjoyed this video , yeah I made the jerk move and left them my position hanged the next day I quick , And I don’t care .. why?
Simple and is not talking to my possible guilty feelings:
1-didn’t get a dime raised when I was supposed to
2- was feeling miserable and kinda dead wasting my time into four walls seen nonsense
3- to Live was a urge to me ,and was a decision I should’ve taken way before and didn’t do it by fear
4- they let me know always how disposable I am for them and at the moment of my resignation even more
5- if I died any given day in a car’s accident going to work they happily laughing inside would replace me like you replace a plastic fork from your lunch pad ,the human being is such that prefers to know you died to feel peace instead understanding why you did something while you are alive and they can’t do it
5- one more important feeling : “FUCK IT “!!!
Start living and look for that what you want to do,what you love, the income you believe you deserve , your life is YOURS not your company or boss property
Do whatever your conscience tells you too, if you feel they care about you give them not 2 weeks but 4 … I’ve been MORE than Good in the past with companies , one of them did extra work right before I left , what a stupid thing..companies could care less about you
The only ones you should be good to is yourself ,your fellow gentleman( no boss or employers they are not your neighbor) and God.
