I have the 5 step set up…I use the Chris Cain method to climb. I do the first 4 steps as normal, then use my platform as my 5th step. My actual 5th Wild Edge step is placed above my head on the tree once my platform is secured. I then place my tether up above the 5th step that’s above my head and let the tether line fall over the step. This allows the tether to hang straight down and not pull me into the tree. It’s much more comfortable for longer sits and it also doubles as a bow hanger or anything else you want to hang from tree, like a pack or range finder.
I thought that was a great setup too. I'm going to a tree saddle this year and excited to do a similar setup. Very impressed to see you didn't even need a bow hoist. Everything went right up the tree with you. Very nice!
Ok guys from a hunter who has them. Practice practice on how to tie and climb. The more you practice at home and setting up the better and faster you will be in the field. I strongly prefer you get a platform and not the perch for the newer saddle hunters.
For run and gun setup deer hunting, what time should one get into the woods? With fixed stands, you always hear the 1 hour before shooting hours rule. With run and gun and the nimble hunting approach, it would seem doing all that scouting the day of in the dark would be an exercise in futility.
Great information video but was wondering if this system will work on Quaking Aspen trees out west. We don’t have many trees like the one you climbed? The trees have slippery outside bark not as gripping as the trees mid west to back east. What’s your thoughts please?
The stepps will work on any tree! You may need to set the stepp then tighten the tension on the rope and set it again to get it to grip into the bark on a slippery or soft tree.
Excellent video. I agree with the comment that instructional commentary would be appreciated. SAFETY: Did I see correctly, at 3:36 you unhooked your lineman's belt and for 20 seconds or so, your were not tethered to the tree by any SAFETY device? Only holding on with a hand grip? If something is going to go wrong, that's when. Your hand slips, fumble with a piece of gear, a split second of intention. It's an avoidable risk. Stay somehow tethered to the tree ALWAYS.
What is considered the fall protection? Nothing is taught around the tree to keep you failing to ground. Can't imagine that loose lineman's belt is going to do a thing except flip you upside down. Also if it's the safety device why unbuckle it and then attach the device you hung from? I'd think keep 1st attached until other is secured.
if you look closely he attached a caribiner to the lower step prior to undoing the linemans belt, while he was attaching his tree line. not the best but he was attached the entire time.
Hi there, thank you for the feedback. It is slightly advantageous to keep the lineman's line at a lower angle so it remains out of the way when setting the steps. It still does the job from a safety perspective!
@@coodyoutdoors8766 dude! why bother? if he doesn't understand the camera man is in another tree just to show how he sets up, then just let it go! another troll trying to get attention! gonna be haters everywhere
Before detaching your linesman belt that high in the air, set your tether, then remove the linesman belt to the next level. NEVER BE DETACH from your safety gear while on the tree! That is a ROOKIE move.
Spartacus Antipas he uses a carabiner on his bridge and attaches it to the step before taking the lineman belt and using it as a tether. So he is never not attached to the tree.

That is a great idea. I will be trying that tip with the tether.

Just got some steps, a perch, and knaider/swaider. Can't wait to try this system.

love watching this video...BEST steps out there..
I can’t wait till my order of stepps come in and my new aerohunter kite. Been a stand guy since I started.... so ready to try to progress to this
What’s the bow hanger attachment?
These videos would be so much better without the music and a little info from the individual in the video
Thanks for the feedback, we're coming out with a more informational series. Stay tuned!
@@wildedgeinc.4021 The music was awesome :)
Great video for entire set up! Thanks Andrew!
Pretty cool using the step as a temporary tether for attaching the high tether.

what did you wrap the bowhanger with?

It looks like he has another attachment on his belt to the step that is waist height
why take off linemans belt before attaching tether?
AWESOME! Thank you!
Music from tfl truck???
What backpack are you using?
Josh Bradybaugh I wondered the same thing.
Any pack of choice with Mollie attachments and some nite ize gear ties will do it.
Awesome! 👍
Thanks, Konstantin!
More cow bell!

Great vid great music!
That really was a great setup.
What harness are you using?
I'm pretty sure it's the AeroHunter by Kestrel.
Really should focus on keeping that linemens belt higher up when tying down your steps!

*More* 🐄bell *_!!!_*
Why not just use an open climber? Don’t get me wrong I’ve been curious open saddle hunting. Just curious as to why
What kind of steps are those?
Hi Chase, this is the Wild Edge Inc. Steppladder from www.wildedgeinc.com
Shoot id had been hunting already using a Old man
So that's how to set up 13 feet high without wearing any camo. Brilliant
Adam Patzka camo don’t kill deer

I can get up to 20 feet the same way he did it. With his system. So quit trolling. It’s a fantastic run and gun set up.
A set of tree spikes would be quicker if they are allowed.
Hey Darryl, the advantage of the steps is their lightweight, compact nature and that they are legal for use on all public land.

looks like a great system, but no one will ever take a shot from that angle. When you have a good product, let it sell it self..... geez
