Thanks for addressing this issue. Most manufacturers ignore the short people because we are a challenge( as I was told by an auto salesman) to make adjustments. You've shown me more options in making a good fit. I'm still looking at e-bikes, but living in ND I may have to take a long trip to test ride any of the ones you mentioned.
I'm 5'2" with inside leg of 27" - longer body and shorter leg. It took me forever to find a bike I was comfortable riding and feeling secure on. With the help of a local bike shop and a very good and informed owner I got one I was happy with. It took a while but I ended up with a step through which helped and 24" wheels. The rest was a series of adjustments of the seat and handlebars. Worth spending time I think. Thanks for this Chris, I hope more is done for us shorties, as when I started the norm was 28" wheels and step-throughs were for cissies.
Thanks for your comment patricia tonge! We really appreciate your support. I agree! Thankfully more and more ebikes of different shapes and sizes are coming into the market so we should have more and more options to pick from. :) Let us know if there are any other videos you would like to see from us.

I have a bike I can’t ride now too. Himiway with 26” tires. I can’t reach the ground! I fell off of it 3 times in one day. I’m terribly bruised up and sore right now. I just ordered a Cyrusher Kommoda. I saw a video of a 5’3” woman riding it and she could put both feet flat on the ground. I’ll give that a try.
Avid cyclist here; perplexed by the eBikes offered. It seems like nearly everyone reviewing eBikes is a tall, fat American. One guy, a verbose reviewer, is 6'5" tall; how is he going to help me out? (I'm 5'6" tall) I've built (pedal-only) custom bikes, laced up wheels, got an _adjustable_ stem, had my steel frame 'aligned', etc. -- you perhaps get the idea. I want to pedal the bike -- not sit there on a poor excuse for a gas-powered scooter! Best I can come up with for _rough_ specs are: A Step-through, folding, mid-drive, full-suspension bike for long distance riding --_mostly_ on paved roads. I need gobs of battery power for 60-100+ mile rides; on a bike that fits me. Any thoughts?
A little late to the party but hopefully my experience over the summer will help. I’m 5.2 on a good day. My inseam is a bit short even for my height so finding something that works is a big problem. I bought a Trek verve 2 electric bike this summer largely because they had it in an extra small size. That should work, right! Nice step through frame. The problem that has come up long term is I can’t put my foot down while seated. Now that is not uncommon for me and I have never had a bike the I could, but with the combination of the extra weight of the ebike and the high center of gravity of the 700 wheels it is very easy to quickly lose control in emergency stops, or even just stopping and being a bit off as to where I lean the bike. This is especially dangerous on uneven terrain. I am in pretty good shape for my age which helps, but there is absolutely no way I would recommend a larger wheel bike for any shorter person. “Bikes Shop Girl” did a video on how someone was seriously injured from this type of fall. Larger wheeled ebikes are just not a good platform for shorter riders. ua-cam.com/video/SvkBapth4k8/v-deo.html Next spring I will be looking at a tern bike as that looks like a possible good solution. As for the Trek, I will just have to take the loss. It would certainly not be right to sell it to another shorter person (it’s an extra small frame) knowing what I know.
Thanks for all your great high quality and super detailed videos. Would you do one, for really tall people as well ? I’m 6,9 and It doesn’t help when choosing the right bike.
I'm 5'10", so everyone thinks I should be able to handle a 31-32" SOH. Using the method you proposed for measurement, my inseam is just under 28". So, the solution most companies propose is not to offer the type of bike I want in a size that works, but rather to completely change the style of bike that started me looking at ebikes in the first place. If I want fat tire mountain bike that I can take fishing or whatever, why try to sell me a folding bike with 20" wheels just because that's what they have available? Would you want to go out on a single track in the mountains on a cargo bike? I get so frustrated by the info on manufacturers' sites that says "Fits riders from x to y height." What they really mean is that it fits statistically average rides in that range. Doesn't a seat dropper also cause the seat to move FORWARD as it comes down, effectively forcing the rider forward toward the taller part of the top tube? How does that help? Sure -- Riese & Muller make some bikes that fit -- with starting prices around $4,900. For a lot of folks who are trying to figure out what's going to fit for their first bike, a premium price isn't the starting point they're probably looking for. What I think I'm hearing in the video is workarounds, not solutions. Comments like yours that offering more sizes probably isn't necessary aren't bit helpful. I'm not trying to be negative here -- I've just grown really tired of the answers I'm getting, and the suggestion that the best path forward for me is to change what I want rather than try to find a bike that actually WORKS for me.
Evan Windom I’m 5’1 and inseam of 28”3/4 . I had a folding 20 inch ebike and I would not get it again ..they are meant for a trip to the market and that’s it ..not comfortable. The wheel size is not safe unless it’s smooth paved road. ..I did wipe ou when the wheel went in between a gcracked groove.and I seldom folded it.
I seem to be something of an outlier when it comes to bikes in that I have an odd problem of being 5"4 tall but with a 30 inch inside leg! In theroy I should be able to fit most bikes, but because I am stupidly short in my back the reach becomes a problem. I am finding that folding style, 20inch wheel type bikes are suiting me best at the moment
I'm 5'1" and I bought samebike 20lvxd30. A month later, I was feeling sick, hands hurt, arms, knees, legs. I tried selling it but a month past, it hasn't been sold. How to make this bike fit me comfortably?

Why are there no women 5 ft tall telling us petite women where to get a bike? I need to see a REAL height challenged person riding, not a tall man giving ideas on what might work.
I’m sorry you didn’t find this video helpful. This video was based on my experience working in my bike shop for 10 years. It’s not what might work, it’s what I have found to work. Maybe you can make a video in the future and we will be happy to share it
@@Propelbikes You used the word "might" in your video. If you have 10 years experience then maybe you also know people who are 5 ft tall who can demonstrate one. Makes no sense you telling me to make a video.
I’m sorry I got a little reactive as I realize in hindsight you are providing helpful feedback that we will definitely consider in the future. The thing is with height as I mention in the video is you really can’t guarantee as you also need to take into account your inseam. The list of bikes I made here are good places to start, but the reality is it’s pretty challenging to pick a size remotely. We do have a few team members on staff that usually help when it comes down to fitting specific bikes and we usually ask for someone’s height and inseam along with their requirements. If we can be of assistance I encourage you to reach out.
Your video was amazing. Thank you. Do you have a suggestion for an upright pedal assist with throttle for 27 in inseam? And what do you think of throttles? can some pedal assists help as much with hills as a throttle?
I've learned this week that a bike where the seat sits back further from the pedals (creating a lower angle) makes touching the ground easier. With as much disposable income so many women have, it's pretty sad finding a bike is such a challenge.

There should be much smaller bikes. I'm under five foot. I recently bought the Ocelot Pro. It's listed for people 4' 10" and up. I still can't put my feet flat seated. Im naturally athletic so it's ok for now. Its still a shame theres not more bikes for small people
