By the time this video is posted I expect the retrofit is done but the green connector to the MIB, it’s likely your existing one is 7 pin (active USB) and the hub cable only takes 5. In the 7 pin setup at the HSD end the pins 6 and 7 go to pins 3 and 4 of the green block on the MIB quadlock. In the USB hub set up the yellow and blue wire also goes into the green quadlock block (forget which pin)
By the way these types of retrofit videos are really great. Many people wait for guides to come out so it’s always amazing to be a pioneer in retrofitting. Highly recommend ERWIN access for wiring diagrams.
You are right. Single USB setup is using HSD 4+2 cable, where those 2 are GND and +5V from the quadlock connector. This can be reused for HUB and only the +12V needs to be added from scratch.
Hi mate, excellent job making the undertaking easy, I have trace the parts and I’m eager to see your next video or part 2 to understand what else to get to make the usb working in my MK7 GTE
Very good video that describes the goal and how to achieve it woth detailed step. Whould very nice to see the actual video. I saw such video in Poland and wanted to request to record such video in English, you speach in your language very fast and it is hard to me to follow
@@mrfixpl atm its got the basic rcd310 which recoded for aux and have a 3rd party bt receiver plugged in the quadlock, but looking at getting something along the lines of a rns 510 which i would consider this for as i prefer oem
Thank you for this! No part 2? 🙂 I have already the MIB1 hub and want to replace it with this one, should it be plug and play? Not sure where it is and how to take it out...
My ‘15 Mk7 Golf has not the USB, but that proprietary port in the center console to which you attach a proprietary cable (originally had the old Apple iPod 40-pin cable). (Edit: it’s MIB 1 with MFI) So I’m guessing I’m hosed? 😅😢
Hello, please, did the output from the black connector also work for you in this connection? I connected the +5V and +12V power supply and I have 5V on the purple and brown output, there is no voltage on the black output. That's all right ?
Hello Mr FIX , like your Videos ,waiting for Part 2 of this Video , hope come soon 🙂 , i try it on My VW T6 DM MIB 2 ,but wont work ,maybe see my error in your next video ,or better the solution
Díky!
As a new 2020 golf r owner you just got a new subscriber love this stuff! ❤️
Thanks for making things easier for us!!
Happy to help!

@@mrfixpl bingo, and you’ve jogged my memory, that goes into fuse 10 on the fuseboard (mk7) with a 10a!

Thank you, I'm waiting for you to continue.
✌️
Pretty good job MrFix!
half way through 💪
Great video! Would you be able to do a future video on how to retrofit cables onto the fuse box please!!
I hope I will! Just waiting for nicer weather.
Przydatne takie filmy 👍👋
Miło mi! Jakby co, to na kanale Łonacznik zrobiłem podobny film po polsku.

I will try to explain in slowly in part 2.
@@mrfixpl In english it's OK, but when you explained in your second channel which is in Poland it is a little bit hard for me when I know Ukrainian
Thank you for this explanation! You showed how to find a 12v source. But where to find the 5v trigger wire?
You can take 12V directly from fuse box. 5V you can take from Quadlock in main unit MIB - 3rd pin in green connector.
Think i'll see if this would work in my mk6, dont know unless you try (or do research but sometimes i just like to give it a go and see what happens)
What kind of infotainment unit you have in your MK6?

Do you have a part number for the usb power plug

Where to connect 5v trigger?
Is the wiring on Purple and Brown connectors the same please?
Czy dobrze myślę, że powinien też zadziałać w Passacie B8? :)
Currently doing this retrofit. Can you tell me please what pin does the trigger wire go to. Please
Thanks for reminding me about this retrofit. I need to finish it!
How can you easily tell if your car already has one? Would a 2017 Passat have one?
If you have two USB ports (center console + arm rest) you will have it.
@@mrfixpl no, only one in the centre console. However Carplay works fine on iphone, Would it work without it?
