I used a claw pickup tool to follow the cables from the glove compartment (top area) to the open space where the head unit resides. There is a hole that the wires go through. I grabbed the USB harness and pulled it back around to the glove box area. I also used a small ring light to observe the cables. It is tricky, but after a few tries, I managed to get it right.
Is it possible to change (to swap) manual air condition control unit to Climatronic control unit? I understand that auto button and individual temperature control won't work (because no sensors), but will the sync button change the temperature for both sides? Will the rest buttons work properly? Any idea? Will really appreciate if you could make a video on this. Thank you for the great and useful videos!
My USB port isn't working well on my 7.5. I'm thinking of doing this to check if it's not just the cable connection that's wonky but I'm scared to do it because I don't want to fuck it up
Thanks, this helped me replace my USB on a 2017 Golf SE. The previous port became finicky after messing with the usb cable too much while plugged in.

I have taken mine out but I cannot seem to get it to click back in, do I need to take the plastic cover off like you have beforehand?

Yes, you absolutely must or you will not get the drawer out. I just fixed mine 3 days ago and it's super crucial

Same in my 7.5, I've replaced cables and phones and it's always the same. Did you resolve it?
@@gbobg Yeah so after a few months it just suddenly started working by itself (CarPlay included). I have no explanation, I didn't change anything.
