I actually bought this at the same time as my camera! this was a really solid option. In fairness though, I still get situational vignetting with a 58mm CPL or ND attached using standard stabilization, so active still helps but I'm glad you did this video. The others I saw on the lens were not big selling points one way or the other, so I ended up making a judgement call.

Quite impressed! Macro shots looked good (at least on an iPad) and for vlogging pretty darn good (albeit the Sony perhaps a step above). I’m tempted to run out and buy along with a few other of the lenses…however since almost impossible to find a Sony APSC and particularly little Dougie anywhere will have to wait. You looked nervous when the lady with the walker zoomed by….
she was dangerous 🤣

I bought it right away when I got my ZV-E10. I am mostly using it for vlogging, without active stabilization and going through a Catalyst Browse. I got the variable ND filters for it but the vignetting is too much and will be returning them. Just need to save some money for the Sigma lens or maybe some other lens -. still doing my research but for now Ulanzi it is. Thanks for all your content - it has been the most helpful thing for someone just starting with this camera.

Consider the new 13mm 1.4 from Viltrox... it's wider than the 16mm Sigma and cheaper with great quality from what I've seen... I have the 23mm and it's fantastic, but for vlogging you need something like the 13...
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis Didn't try the ND filters with Catalyst Browse but it was fairly significant on the screen when using variable ND (K&F) but less so when I used regular CPL or ND filters (non variable) so it might depend on the actual filter.
@@TheCruisinCrew I will definitely check it out, thanks! Planning on getting a new lens before I'll go for another trip at the end of August. Until then I'll still be using the kit lens while learning the ZV-10 and researching some more.

Hey man, so I've watched a couple of your videos and in this one you mention an issue I've been facing with the ZV1F with the Ulanzi WL1 -- distortion on both sides of the background. I was using a 40.5 to 52mm step up ring to mount the WL1 to the ZV1F and the distortion was nuts. I then used a Nissi 40.5mm ProNano VND filter first on the ZV1F, then a step up ring 43 to 52mm on top of that, and then the WL1. The distortion was much less. But in the latter case I was wondering if there was just way too much glass I was using. Can you help me out with what is the best way to get the least distorted video out of the ZV1F and the WL1. And on that note, how would the WL3 go with the ZV1F? Thanks
Yeah, I have this Ulanzi set and like you said - distortion are huge. But i bought it when there was no new lens yet, so i hadn't another way.
Now I also have GoPro Hero 10 and I wonder should I sell my Sony now or after my holidays 😉

Hey Mark! Been eyeing this one for awhile actually since I am a cheapo :) Thanks for the review! What I'm wondering is does it work with no issues throughout the zoom range of the kit? That would be a good versatility advantage over a wide angle prime. If it does work, do you also happen to know the rough focal length equivalent when zoomed all the way in?
It gives you about an 18-56mm field of view full frame equivalent as opposed to the kit lens' 24-75 full frame. Or in other words 12-38mm aps-c instead of 16-50.

Thanks once again Mark. Because of this video I picked up a Ulanzi WL-3 for my camera (Lil Dougie's Cousin Steve haha). I bought a generic 40.5 to 52mm step up ring. WORKS GREAT while I save up for my new lens. I haven't decided on which yet...but I do a lot of close shots so this is a HUGE help! Stay tuned for my "Cheap ZVE-10 'Cinema Rig' Build" on my channel! Since you are also into camera stuff, I thought I may ask you a question. I see no significant difference in Pictures taken in Raw vs Jpeg format on my Sony a6300. In post, when I push the shadows up or try to bring the highlights down, raw does not have more info than JPEGs. Is my camera working right? What am I doing wrong? What about your ZVE-10?
Raw will just really help with dynamic range and colour grading. So if you put a lot of "style" on your photos, the raw will help a lot. Things like bringing the a blown out sky back to show detail - you'll also see a big difference in Raw. The raw has more info - so when you go to make adjustments, you will have more room.

The problem is, what you said, and what most of the people on youtube are saying, couldn't be verified by myself. Maybe it's because of my lack of knowledge/Experience; but hey! we are not talking rocket science here. I just took a picture of clouds (JPEG and RAW together, so conditions and camera settings, lighting of clouds etc. couldn't be changed).
Some part of the clouds was blown way. From Raw file on Sony a6300, it made no difference whatsoever in the quality of the image. No highlights came back. No black/shadows were recovered either. So I honestly have absolutely no idea what people are talking about. I see no difference. For instance, if you see Caleb's this video: ua-cam.com/video/eXPApYc6Id4/v-deo.html , at 3:57
he is actually showing how much of the highlights are coming back. If I take a Raw picture, there is nothing being recovered from it.. literally nothing more than a jpeg. Jack Sh*t! and it is frustrating.
As cliche as it is, I would still request you to make a video about it only showing raw file from a sony a6300 or 6000 etc. And show us the editing process, so that I may be able to notice, what am I doing wrong? I mean, it is the camera which is taking the picture in raw format, not me. If I put it in Photoscape, or Image Edge-Edit softare, or online in Photopea (becuase I no longer have lightroom), no information just comes back. Nothing more than it did for JPEG format!

Hi, the wide-angle lens where was linked also works for Sony zv e 10 ?
In all online stores, it says that this lens is compatible with the sony zv-1...if I want to use it with the sony zv-e10, Kit lens...do I need to buy an extra adapter?... ...or is that already included, when you buy the lens?
ulanzi has 2 of these. This one, the WL3 fits the Zv-E10 and the other the wL1 fits the zv1

it is attached to the lens, so as you zoom, it will act the same. but if you’re zooming I would take it off because there no point or it except it will degrade your quality. it’s really only useful at the widest end

@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis I've already got the Sigma 16mm, but as a loyal MBCC follower, the WL-3 is now affiliate purchased on the way!
I tried filming with my Canon and the sigma 70 - 300 lens that I have and it was a nightmare to try and get steady shots. The lens is really old and has no stabilisation in it what so ever so you can imagine the results. I haven't got any decent zoom lenses for the ZV-E10. The only lenses I have for that are the kit lens and the sigma 16mm. For Vlogging I still don't think you can beat using an action camera. I use the Osmo Action 1 nearly all the time for that type of content.
the action cams do make it so sprays and they look great. I have a GoPro 10 and I really love using it.
Does it hurt the motor of lens when it comes in and out?

Given that this is currently sold out, do you by chance know if the ULANZI WL-1 will work with the zv e10? I have seen tons of reviews of the WL-1 with the ZV1 and the WL-3 with the zv E10 but none with the WL-1 on the ZV e10. There is a review on amazon saying it will work but in skeptical. Thanks!

The kit lens that comes with the a7iii is quite good. if you get the zv-e10, I would recommend you look at the sigma 18-50 2.8 instead of the lens that comes with it (but that lens is ok too)

Hi Mark, does the sticky bit on the ring of the Ulanzi lens damage the camera when you stick it on? How about when you change lenses? Do you have to keep removing that sticky ring of the Ulanzi lens to swap lense?
this one here screws into the ZV-E10 kit lens. They have a sticker version for the ZV1 - but with the ZV-E10, it goes on an off like a filter. Just make sure you're looking at the right one 👍

I looked There is a model called ulanzi wl-1 that have a 52mm filter size and fit on sigma 30mm 1.4 and viltrox 23mm 1.4 dose it reduces quality or sharpness on those prime lenses ? Or it works fine ? :))
the 52mm it’s referring to is the filter thread for the WL-1 (if you want to screw on ND filter for example). The part that attaches to the lens is 40.5 (if you don’t attach the sticker used for the ZV1) which fits the a7c and zv-e10’s kit lenses. So it will not fit the lenses you are talking about, plus, even if it did, it would reduce the sharpness greatly. It’s really for a cost effective solution for vlogging but sharpness is not it’s strong point.

I’m actually working on the 11mm now with the gimbal. And yes, this little adapter is only good for tight vlogging where people don’t mind the corners.

6:16 Soft image with adapter.
6:20 Sharp image with Kit-Lense
For sure the image will be softer. It's just a wide angle adapter for $50 - but it gets the job done if you need something wide for things like vlogs.

mr Mark, what about low light scene with this additional lens?
it won’t be great in lowlight because the kitlens is only a 3.5-5.6. so as the light gets dim, you’re going to see a lot of noise.

Zv1 isn't as wide as this - Zv1 is equiv to 24mm at the wide end. This is 18. They do have a similar adapter for ZV1. This is specifically if people occasionally need an ultra-wide. You wouldn't keep it on all the time. Plus, you wouldn't keep your kit lens on all the time either. The beauty of the Zv-E10 is the interchangeable lens system.
