Your Dutch is incredible! As a Dutchie myself it’s so nice to see that people still take the time and effort to learn the language even though they don’t have to. I’m doing it in reverse, actually. As I’m following a bilingual education at my Dutch school. (That means I get over 50% of my classes in English, there are more activities about the culture and the English language is taught on a higher level and stuff) But anyways... I just wanted to drop here how proud I am of your Dutch. Both grammar and vocabulary were (almost all 😉) on point.
"Folkert, wil je deze of deze" "deze" You both have barely an accent there! If I would've just seen that I would've guessed your first language was Dutch!
hi jade, one tiny thing (that has confused me a lot when learning english as a dutch person): family = gezin relatives = familie so family is not familie! confusing!!
I remember this confused me a bit as well when I was learning English, for the longest time I just thought ‘family’ meant both ‘gezin’ and ‘familie’ because of the similarities of the two words. Still always think twice about it before I use either of the two
Familie can still be family in the right context of course. Your parents and siblings are also your familie, going home to your familie is probably just as common to say/hear as going home to your gezin
Gezin is the direct family you have like mother father and kids you can call them familie to. but you would say that to everybody outside of you're gezin like you're aunt or uncle
Haha, its sooo much fun watching this when you are Dutch. You're really good though, for someone who just started. Especially with the harder sounds. Only the word order😬 I'm Dutch and even I can't get that right, so respect for learning this so quickly
I literally said out loud "we don't wear helmets" and you said right after "real Dutch people don't wear helmets, I have heard" HAHAHHAHA I DIEDDDD LAUGHINGGGGG
My native language is Afrikaans which is a daughter language of Dutch. It was so cool for me to actually understand what you were saying 😍😍 I think if we had a conversation, you speaking in dutch and me speaking in Afrikaans, we would fully understand each other Much love ❤❤
So im dutch and i understood everything you said. Your dutch is improving a lot! (Grammar wasnt always right but even dutch people struggle with that😂) im truly impressed😊 keep on going!
Just hopped on my account to be able to say this. Your accent is so on point! You actually sound like a Dutch (Netherlands Dutch) person when speaking Dutch. Really cool! Greetings from Belgium!
When Folkert guessed ‘flour’ when you were saying ‘bloem’, I initially thought he said ‘flower’, which also translates to ‘bloem’ in Dutch lol (I was really impressed that the clue of a flower got him to get the flour until I realised ...)
Ahhh you should hear the original of that song, the Frenna and Lil Kleine version is a cover of 'Onderweg' by Abel, little dated but i love that older version too Also so much respect for you Jade, Dutch is so bloody difficult and you are doing so well!

Meiner Meinung nach klingt Niederländisch wie eine seltsame Version von Deutsch, die mit englischem Akzent gesprochen wird! Aber Deutsch ist meine zweite Fremdsprache also mein Eindruck davon kann auch falsch sein haha
My parents speak 5 languages and I was only raised with one, so I understand your struggle (it's quite frustrating lol)! I'm currently trying to learn French since the majority of people in my country can speak it. You did a great job in this video!
folkert is hilarious 😂 amazing video jade!! I appreciate how hard language learning is, as someone who's been trying to grasp the basics of French for three years now. very inspiring to see how far you've come on this journey! sending lots of love xx
Wow I can’t believe how much you are progressing! I honestly love the sound of Dutch so much, this has inspired me to listen to some music in a different language. Thanks for all the positive content, inspiring me and others to keep learning and smile 😊
What did you mean with “your Dutch is limited?” since you spoke it fluently... I could literally understand every word you said... Edit: how did this get 210 likes without me even noticing? Lmaooo
I’m not even Dutch but I could still hear her pronunciation had a lot of errors. It is still good though especially despite how little time she has learned.
I'm learning Dutch too! My dad is Flemish, it's also his mother tongue and I've always felt guilt that I can't speak it as well 😂 so cool to see how you're learning it
This has definitely given me a reminder/kick up the arse to keep on pursuing language learning! It's a struggle for sure but I know it'll pay off in the end!

I'm also half Dutch half English but I've been living in the Netherlands my whole life though I have been raised bilingual :) Ik vind dat je het heel goed deed;)
Hi Jade! I've read the tip where you recommended to practice and immerse yourself in the language, and I agree! I'm not an english native speaker, and when I started watching your videos it was a little hard for me to understand because I was not really into the british accent, and I've been watching (and loving) your channel for over 7 months now, and it has helped me so much! By the way, you're my favorite youtuber, you spread so much kindness that it's hard no to appreciate it
Yes, and for the purpose of learning Dutch, you're much better off listening to the original version. The articulation and pronunciation in the original version is much clearer and fairly accent free, apart from a slight 'soft G', which is common for southern accents. Also the 'Cher auto tune effect' on the vocals in the 'lil Kleine' version makes it much harder to clearly hear the words. The original on the other hand has clear sounding Dutch in it.
Hi jade I’m welsh and although basically everyone speaks English a lot of them can speak pretty good welsh. This video has rly inspired me to go and learn it so... thanks:)

I can confirm it’s in fact dutch:)
I am Dutch, and I must say that I’m pretty impressed! I understood everything you said and think you did a pretty good job, I know Dutch is a really hard language. You’re amazing Jade!❤️
Indeed! I understood everything as well! A lot of people live here in The Netherlands for decades, and still can't speak a word in Dutch.
Your Dutch is incredible! As a Dutchie myself it’s so nice to see that people still take the time and effort to learn the language even though they don’t have to. I’m doing it in reverse, actually. As I’m following a bilingual education at my Dutch school. (That means I get over 50% of my classes in English, there are more activities about the culture and the English language is taught on a higher level and stuff)
But anyways... I just wanted to drop here how proud I am of your Dutch. Both grammar and vocabulary were (almost all 😉) on point.
I just realized we in the Netherlands use the same word for flower and flour, and that it sounds the same in English...
SAME
"Folkert, wil je deze of deze" "deze" You both have barely an accent there! If I would've just seen that I would've guessed your first language was Dutch!

hi jade, one tiny thing (that has confused me a lot when learning english as a dutch person):
family = gezin
relatives = familie
so family is not familie!
Anne van Hattem wait... i though that too... and that relatives ment familie too ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ
Familie = all your family, direct and extended
Gezin = direct family

By the way, you're my favorite youtuber, you spread so much kindness that it's hard no to appreciate it
Noortje’s favourite song is actually a sort of modern remix of an old Dutch classic called ‘onderweg’ by Abel. You should have a listen!
Yes. The 'original' by Abel is so much better.
Watching this as a german is just like listening to a drunk person. I just love dutch and think it should be taught more in german schools as well.
Like dutch people need to learn german? (I'm so bad in it 😅)
