@@NicTubeVids Not really. Specially since neither of the two substances causes hallucinations. Less of all stepping into other worlds. Unless you mean because of how crazy Lynch is. If so, then maybe yes.
I don't think youngsters will understand that at this time only ground coffee was for sale and that many store bought coffees at the time were mixed with inferior Rubusto beans, not pure Arabica beans. This was years before Starbucks went national. Some supermarkets had grinding machines, but the selection was limited, and no one ground coffee at home. Percolators were common and they very quickly burnt coffee. Really good coffee was rare and worth getting excited about. In New England, we were proud of Dunkin' Donuts (started in Quincy Mass), because otherwise decent coffee was rare.

I wonder if this has to do with coffee not just being black coffee with only cream and sugar as mixers. Allot of coffees are lattes mixed with sweets, flavor syrups, etc. And people prefer those overwhelming tastes over plain black coffee.
All coffee is good, amen.
Actually, if you take out the crime and mystery elements, the true theme of this program is about pie and coffee.

I live out here and was just at this diner (Twede's T-Mar - the RR) up there for lunch today. They had it remodeled for the new series to still look like the old one, but updated. And they DO have great coffee. Still have to try their pie...
I just went to the diner TODAY and had a slice of cherry pie. It was AMAZING. My expectations weren't super high at all and I was just there for the novelty of it, but I was blown away by how good the pie was. You need to check it out!
Pies not the same
As a millennial, there's something so nostalgic and calming about this video. Does a certain atmosphere that is unique and lacking in today's media
Same, it's the 90s vibe at the time. I have good memories of watching Twin Peaks on DVD with my breakfast at 11 am before working on my PhD thesis, it was my ease into the day relaxed program
It's all the wood paneling and brown decor!

Two cardinal motifs constantly being subliminally suggested through a novel ongoing theme of pie & coffee.

The main reason why the show exist, to show the loves the author has for pies and coffee.
I wish we had diners in my country, i could go for some coffee and cherry pie.
I wish we had them in America still too.
There's still a few mom and pop diners out there, but yeah, they are dying off.

America has become very commercial in a time where we are owing more and more in debt, which means the little guys and personal shops, including diners are getting pushed out. Sad but true. There may still be some time left yet, but, yeah, everything is so commercial.
