Eren's character is a jumbled Mess
    - Wanting Mikasa to be free but also wanting her to never forget him and can't see her with another man
-Wanting Eldia to be Jeagirists with a mindset to kill everyone outside but also wanting they would listen to Armin and others who are mass murderers and killed tons of Yeagirists
-Wanted to do the rumbling for his friends , Paradis island and Armin's book but also doesn't know why he did the rumbling
    - Wanting to exterminate everyone outside the walls but also 80% is enough
    - Wanted his friends to live long lives but also admitting that he didn't know if his friends will make it or not , if anything 100% rumbling should have guaranteed his friends' safety more than anything
Also was this eren's doing or is he just Ymir's errand boy ( indicated by the founder eye panel)
Mikasa even took the protagonist title from him because at the end everything was revolving around Mikasa
    The tragedy of Ellen Beggar

He was doing it for Paradis to be at peace, because even after all the negotiations with Marley, they would never refuse to let Paradis at peace. Eren was killing all of Marley so that he could end the war and the cycle of hatred for Paradis's sake, but now, we learned that he did all that because he wanted his friends to live which lead to the destruction of Paradis. He didn't care about those who were not important to him, and in the end, everyone died because he didn't destroy Marley. This is genuinely the worst character destruction I've ever seen

I mean not you making your friends heroes when you wipe our 80 % of humanity what's the point of that? If you see the future then you have a chance to change it. Then you have a chance to kill less. And besides he saw yaegerists in the future too and yet let them get killed by his friends so Eren the guy who wanted to give Eldians a place in the world killed Eldians himself. From wherever you look at it, the ending makes no sense. The whole final arc Eren slowly lost his character chapter by chapter. We all knew Eren was gonna become villian and move by his own but this one makes zero sense. It's forced and cringe. Let's admit guys Isayama terribly sucked. Eren was the first mc to notably shift he’s views about the titans. When they leave the walls he says there not enemy’s there our people. Eren is empathetic and cares about people deeply throughout s1-s3 the fact he’s justified killings are used as a way to say he was always destined to be a murderous psychopath is such a slap in the face. To use those moments of basically survival as justification for the retcon eren is just idiocy, it’s a different character. He showed just as much empathy and care for human life as armin. He’s fits of rage we’re literally in response to being threatened with death everyday not some foreshadowing of a villian, it’s so fucking stupid. S1 - S3 erens goals would’ve been to preserve as much human life as possible as he’s never okay with people being killed and gets over he’s lifelong hate for titans the moment he figures out there innocent, doesn’t sound like the type of guy who would be so indifferent to genocide.

My take is that the message is, "give up on your dreams and die". Eren literally did that in the ending. Not to mention that most characters who fight for their dream seem to meet horrible fates e.g. Grisha, Erwin, Mikasa, Ramzi. Everything you worked for will be meaningless, and your whole family will die horrible deaths.

Over the past month i've given up and lost emotional investment in the series, but your video reminded me of what AOT used to be. God, those endless sacrifaces, existential horror and despair, but constant moving forward because of our nature as a species. We are all born with the desire for freedom and unavoidably have to face with reality full of hatred and opression. That was the core of Eren's character. It was all about real, horrifing and unsolvable questions about human's existence and the scales of one individual with their loved ones to the whole world. It's so painful to think of what AOT might have been. I honestly can't understand how such massive amount of people liked and accepted the ending. It's only possible if the majority of fanbase read AOT as 'haha cool pictures go brrr mikasa ass nice'. Hell, turn every Eldian into a Colossal titan to join the Rumbling. If its hypocritical, well the Rumbling was always a means to an end. Why not add fuel to the fire? In fact, I would have even accepted it if Eren never knew what freedom truly is, and if he's a slave to the idea of freedom. As long as he kept moving forward...

      Rebel against a specific norm
Fight for the freedom you want

Eren's character has never been a great protagonist but let's admit that the reason we loved him was because we found something similar in us with him. We empathized him because he was a regular boy and yet he was brave, he never surrounded to his fate, he wanted to stand against injustice in the world, he rejected the system in which he lived,he was a dreamer and as a suffering boy he was angry with the life, he wanted to change his fate he didn't surrounded to injustices and that was the reason we loved him.Because we found something of us in him. And he was flawed, he complained about himself,he fell into depression but his friends got him out, encouraged him and followed him, considered him as a leader. He has always been a little psychopathic but we knew that it was his mental collapse due to his anger to the unjust world his lived. And all of a sudden when he turned into someone else we reader cut our bond with him and that's why we can't empathize him and understand him anymore. There are so many inconsistencies, irrationalities , holes about his character and mindset now. I think this has started by the end of Marley arc and in the whole final arc. The more I think about it the Attack titan's real power reveal was the first mortal wound to the story. It is said time after time that the Attack titan "fights for freedom", but if its users can see the future, it makes them and the Attack titan itself slaves of fate.
It didn't necessarily have to be that way, but that's the way Isayama wrote it and it murdered his main character. For example when we see Eren interact with time itself that is just the game changer it needed. If the Attack titan can see the past and future and change them, now that's the freedom it precisely boasts about. But it didn't quite happen that way, did it. All that Eren did, from convincing his father to killing his own mother, he did it because he "had to", making him in fact, a slave of fate. He was never free.

This whole show is so pointless after the ending that ruined everything. I hate how he blamed Bertholdt for his mother’s death but it was indirectly Eren’s fault the whole time. The man who goes on about freedom shuts down and gives up as soon as he sees his future. Doesn’t tell anyone at ALL. I’m sure more people would’ve been on his side slightly if he just SPOKE. This whole show could’ve been prevented if Marley spoke instead of immediately trying to kill the people of Paradis.
The cringevengers are even worse. They sacrificed Paradis for what? Why were they fighting all these years just to betray the man trying to protect them? Thanks to them…Paradis has now been completely annihilated. Armin and the rest of them are hypocrites who have killed so many people. I really don’t think that a total destruction of the world except Paradis would have been a better (and DEFINITELY not preferred) ending.
Seems like a logical ending, given how Eren suffered and was driven by revenge, but it’s NOT how a complex character (which we would be happy to relate with) would have ended his story.
I really struggled to watch the rumbling. I felt so disappointed with Eren’s ultimate decision, and would have been probably disgusted if Isayama wrote down that “Eren destroys all of the world, removes Titans with the power of the Progenitor, and then dies: THE END”.
    Fuck no.
I would have loved if Eren thought more strategically towards his plans with the world at some point after meeting Ymir. We know he’s capable of empathy and regrets, and we know that a VICTIM of genocide, even if driven by revenge, would probably never commit a genocide by himself.
Eren was already knowledgeable of the fact not all people should have suffered the way he did… “I am sorry!”.

Eren could have saved all his friends by going with the 50 year plan. historia was even willing to do it why trample all over her decision and disrespect her resolve for no reason? you telling me historia living more than 13 years is worth more than Sasha, Hange, all the yaegerists that died AND 80% of the world?

AoT had the potential becoming our Era's End of Evangelion instead we got a knock of GoT season 8...I'm not angry I'm just really sad that a series with a lot of potential was butchered to this and I'm sad that Isayama did Eren so dirty. Well at least we can meme the hell out of AoT's shitty ending I guess, better then nothing.

The truth is isayama just isn’t a good storyteller. The revelation that Marley was outside the walls was an amazing idea & set it blinds us to all the shit storytelling but aot was never really good. Just very intriguing due to the walls and at the end of s3 the reveal of the basement is so good but after that idea is used up you can begin to see the cracks and see that there was never really a good story to be told here or good characters at all. That’s why the story and all the characters seem so contradictory because most of them have no point. (Armin levi mikasa jean joining annie and reiner for example that would never happen but the story’s not actually developing it’s just fucking random). The only real idea the story had was that there inside the walls and Marley was outside.

not at all aot has so many great moments it's not perfect but this is way overdoing it aot was pretty incredible till the end just seems isiyama diddint know how to end it which isn't unique to him many authors struggle to write a good conclusion to such a huge story its very common

    • @1hxbeats605
      @1hxbeats605 2 роки тому +3

@@supremeleaderfrancisco9062 there can be great moments in a bad story. It’s not overdoing it, the moments in the first 3 seasons all work as a complete story because the payoff is finding out humanity is still outside the walls and wants paradis gone. Everything after s3 falls flat and even makes s1-s3 worse because isyama no longer can write those moments in the context of a good story. You say the ending is bad but it’s not just the ending. Aot is one big storyline with 2 main arcs. The mystery of the walls. Then the war with Marley. The second arc as an entire story fails , none of the moments have proper payoff because the story they exist in doesnt lead anywhere. The first arc works well because he had the idea before of the walls and could slowly work backwards to that reveal but after that he’s complete clueless on where he’s story is going. S4 is directionless and builds to nothing noteworthy and makes irrelevant a lot of the prior series that’s not just a bad conclusion, entirety of s4’s arc aka everything post Marley reveal doesn’t lead anywhere, that’s a failed story. Again because he doesn’t have the mystery of the walls to keep he’s story moving forward. You could say isyama writes good moments but he doesn’t know how to write a good story, he got people invested with the walls reveal which hides how bad the rest of it is. It’s an absolute failure of a story aot as a whole with good moments in between similar to how game of thrones storylines had great moments but ultimately led to nothing because the directors cannot write story’s.
