6 car battle! No quarter given or asked around Goodwood
Вставка
- Опубліковано 26 бер 2024
- You know the racing is going to be good when you see three Minis, a Ford Fiesta and Escort followed by a Dolomite Sprint. Goodwood often looks a fairly narrow circuit, but this six-car battle makes it look positively huge.
You just don't see this in modern racing, maybe BTCC and Moto GP, but you will be able to see it on April 13-14 at the 81st Members' Meeting presented by Audrain Motorsport.

Kudos to the guy who selected to have a Mini Clubman Traveller (Estate) as his weapon of choice! Never seen one of those being raced before. 😀
I was rootin’ for him, but wondered if backdraft would be a hindrance.
@@timberwolfdtproductions3890 surely has the same aerodynamic advantage as the Ferrari breadvan 😅
It's like the Volvo 850 T5 estate in touring cars....that was soooo cool
100mm longer wheelbase than the saloon - that probably makes it a touch more stable in faster turns. Looks great too.
Mini long tail.
Love watching minis in a race, it's like "nobody told me I can't be at the front" excited spaniels nipping about 😊
Loved the Fiesta
Wonderful to see. It still amazes me today, how competitive the mini was and still is today
Likewise - saw one of the Pre 66 touring car races at Silverstone back in 2022 and there was a great match-up between a mini and some big American car (forgot what it was). The American car pulling ahead on straights and Mini catching up/being very nimble/fast round corners. Brilliant racing
On curved roads nearly unbeatable.
@@mrtom245059 Thunderbird?
Loved that Dolomite
Aggressive but clean, just as it should be!
The sound is fantastic on its own. 👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿
Angry bees on steroids.
What an awesome display of skill. Beautifully drifting through the corners inches away from each other. Just incredible to watch.
You dont need 600+ hp for an exiting race.❤
Ive been saying that for years and years
@@user-gw3lp3lb1o I've been agreeing with you for as long without knowing it. Cheers!
Thing is, these cars are very light, most likely less than a ton. So if we compare power to weight ratio, these cars are technically still fast.
you feel like you are going plenty fast enough in such a car
Brilliant action, more of this stuff please!
More exciting to watch than the last 5 seasons of F1 and IndyCar combined.
F1 yes, but Indycar has close racing and overtakes.
I used to have a 1978 Fiesta, which looked just like this one. In the US, we basically had the XR2 as our standard version. It's great to see it competitive in that series.
My first car was a '78 Fiesta and drove it for 17 years. Love seeing this one go like stink.
@@silentqueue2344 My first car was a '76 mk1 Fiesta 1100, horrid horrid colour....... maybe "babysick beige"?
yes with 4 fat americans in it you needed the xr
I hope someone from F1 is watching this.
No wings, drs or fancy floors just real exciting competition.
Just 10000000 times better than F1.
Wings ruined car racing, just upside down planes on rails!
my first thought too, although I have not watched modern racing much at all in the last 20 or so years.
F1 is just boring "follow my leader".
@@GrumpyOldMan50: The 1967 season was the last F1 season without wings. Those cars were beautiful.
@@GrumpyOldMan50 'car racing' is mainly an engineering challenge - and you're arguing that engineering 'ruined' it?
Amazing racing. What a selection of 70's classics. And the nicest thing. No commentary. No one telling me what I'm watching.👌🏼👍🏼😁
Like a scene from CI5,The Professionals 😂
Bodie and Doyle !! 🤓👍☘️🍺
Poco meno di 3 minuti di video ti infondono più passione ed adrenalina di un intero gran premio di F1!
Fiesta MK1 ,my first car,I'm still in love!!! ❤️
I used to love seeing this racing as a kid.
And no hits or dented metal too. Great racers!
I think there was some bumper car action at 1:57 or so, things got a little close there 😮
are you blind?
The mini is just amazing. Very average in a straight line, but their ability to maintain speed through the corners is incredible.
You a only brake twice per lap in a Mini. !!
The Minis are going like a pack of angry wasps 😂❤
I could watch this all day ❤
The Fiesta seemed to handle and grip better than the others in the pack.
much bigger tyres
That was rad! Those short little wheel bases look fun!
I never knew a Fiesta could go that fast, Lol
The most entertaining racing clip I've watched in ages.
Mk2 driven like it’s stolen ❤👌👍
The Fiesta caught my eye in the clip. One of the most favored cars I ever owned.
This 3 minutes of racing is more entertaining than a whole F1 season
Love the mk1 fiesta
Wonderful, puts modern F1 to shame.
Most other racing does 😄
Come on now…..
Those little cars are cool!
I second that comment, with bells on!
Bring on the MK 1 Lotus Cortinas one of which I drove around here back in the 80s.
No one shouting "he brake tested me" 🤣🤣🤣
This was great! So fun!
Excellent racing by everyone involved. Preparing the cars and enjoying them.
Bril!, no one was giving an inch!. Shame the clip wasn't longer!. Proper racing!. Nuff said!. 🙂
my earliest memory is of my dad's mini wagon, 1972. he used to race minis 'because you can strip and rebuild the motor in 30 minutes'
Now that, is close racing
This reminds me of Motorcycle racing. The best and by far most exciting racing is in Moto3. And over the course of the season the rider decides the championship, not the bike. In F1 and Moto GP the equipment mostly decides.
Wonderful cars and driving. It all goes to show that you can hold the throttle down a bit longer and break a little later when your car is not a museum piece.
Great excitement for drivers and fans alike
Fantastic stuff! If there’s one car from my past I wish I still had it’s my Clubman estate!! best car I ever had, great fun, cheap and simple to run and very practical. Rot got into the sills as it always did and I gave it away in 1997!!! I remember watching it being driven away and thinking oh dear what have I just done!!!!
I was very disapointed with this video, where was the excitement of 'team tyre changing' ? All we got was a great display of drivers skills.
😅😅😅😅😅😅😅
Carefully, you'll have to explain sarcasm to the colonials. I know 24 yrs as an ex-pat,still miss the English circuits, camaraderie, just different in U.S.
Absolutely epic racing.
Are these races at Goodwood ever broadcast on TV where it can be watched in the states? Love em
If memory serves correctly, they are live streamed on their youtube channel. But even if you cannot access the live stream, the full races are uploaded in the months after. There is a feast of full races on their channel. I know it is not TV but hope that helps. Enjoy😊
got their own YT channel...all there fantastic.
These races never disappoint😁
Great racing
The Ford Fiesta, as Colin Chapman intended.
first I have heard of a Chapman connection to the Fiesta
Smiling a lot and loving it.
Love watching these guys move on the brakes, slide/back into corners and then barely squirm on the way out with their whopping 100hp 😊😂. Such great racing!
Excellent racing, how it should be and completely un-matched - RS2000 2.0L, Dolly Sprint 2.0L, Fester (prob) 1.6L and gaggle of Mini Clubman's - all prob 1.3L - Magic!
Love it. Great cars. Great racing. What a simple Escort, Fiesta, Autobianchi and Mini can do.
Love the mark 2 escort, had two myself back in the day.
Going for it… I love it!
Cracking Racing 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Real racing indeed.!!!
Fantastic 😍
Fun racing.
Great track
Shake and Bake… Baby 🙏 We Love It
never mind the car class, that's serious racing!
J'adore le choix de la mini, version break ,I Like it , c'est comme cela que l'on dit en Angleterre !Non ?
Bonjour! Station wagon is what the Americans call it. We say “estate”
Driving slow cars fast will always be better than driving fast cars slow.
Whenever i see a Dolomite Sprint i always remember how Richard Hammond drowned in one
Re: other comments about F1. The big defense F1 fan bois have is the ' technology '. Yeah. I never seem to see the aero they have on even million dollar hyper cars. Alfa helped ruin the BTCC when they snuck in aero with the uninstalled package in the trunk to make homolgation ( to my mind and memory at least - lol. )
Man that looked like fun except I would’ve probably wrecked. Haha! I’ve never driven a right hand car before.
YES YES YES YES
What class of racingnis this?
What’s the blue and yellow car? And where can we see the full race?
Mazda RX7 I think
Simplify and add lightness, practical demonstration, colourised.
Sent tingles watching this
It looks like #29 have a South African number plate from Gauteng province
Proper racing.
What is number 51? A first gen Fiesta? I'm Australian, we didn't get it out here.
Yes its a first gen Fiesta XR2.
The XR2 had round headlamps with the indicators relocated to lower part of the bumper.
I think you guys had the Ford Laser (a variant of the Mazda 323/Familia) instead.
@@kijekuyo9494 Yes, exactly that.
@@kijekuyo9494 tbf the AWD Ford Laser TX3 Turbo is part Escort, Part Mazda 323, part VW Scirocco - its weird but very cool all at once. Hotpotched Hatch anyone?
@@ElementsMMAalmost. It's an earlier mk1 and has a 1.3. The guy that built it was on a forum that I used to frequent a few years back. The round headlights were available as an Xpack option way before the XR2 was released. They were also standard equipment on the North American Fiesta
I’ve never tracked my C5 Z06, but I wonder how it would do against these cars?
Racing as it should be. F1 can get stuffed!
Ponele bastante aerodinámica a estos autos y chau carreras asi. Que quieren F1 o formula ford?
👍
Great to see racing like this. Takes me back to the days of Frank Sytner three wheeling his BMW round dicing with Smoking Joe Winklehorn & Co.
I could smell the brakes from Australia!!
The Fiesta driver must be fuming as the Escort driver kept blocking him.
Unhappy. Why only 3 mins? At least tell me the result! Wanted a race to the finish.
Have no idea what kind of cars these are, due to old European models, but great race!
Now that's how motor racing should be. Pure enjoyment for everyone watching or taking part. Those drivers showing respect to one another. None of this F1 bull......T. ("He's just tried to overtake me there boss !!!?" ("Is that aloud get the stewards to look into it".) 🤦😂🤣
Pure 70's racing heaven
\(^v^)/!🏁
Racing the way it ought to be
the way it still is in many saloon car series - just have a look. Lots of single make series like GT86, Mazda Mx5's and RX8's but also BTCC, Aussie Supercars, even DTM
No braking early here 😊
Even BTCC doesn’t get this much action now.
Sounds so much better than F1 too!
Fun to watch. They’re so tiny, like circus cars!
So who won?
Needs the old T Birds.
Wow, this is racing indeed. Without the commentator overshouting the sound of the engines, as is per usual with Goodwood.
Better than F1 or Nascar. Reminds me of the actually competitive days of STOCK CAR racing.
That fiesta lacked of acceleration, but it outbraked and outcornered all the other cars. It literally gained yards and car lengths every corner
That was Ace.
Love the second mini is indicating to pass
❤❤❤❤
Why can't the 2 litre Escort or Dolomite leave the tiddlers behind?
Probably driving skills you can guess.
Who won!?
👍
My mini clubman didn't even go that fast down a hill.
That's racing
