      tony tonyt Remember all the surgeries kept putting off from 2008-2010? Plus his bad knees hindered him all season yet he played all 82 games because he really wanted to repeat as champion. I’m not giving him and the Lakers a pass, but 2011 was his worst season in 7 years. Plus the Lakers were going through playoff fatigue and rumors were swirling about Phil possibly leaving (which he did) and Pau Gasol trade rumors. There was a lot going on that season.

      Dirk was legit, but this NBA finals narrative will always be about how bad prime LeBron James was. Dirk avg 26pts 10rebs on 41% shooting for the finals, which is good no doubt, but I’ve seen a lot of players have better performances in the finals. Jason Terry was the guy who shocked me to be honest. Wade was a top5 player and Bosh was a top10 player who just avg 24 and 11 the season before. Prime LeBron lost to a team with one all star and a bunch of role players.
      Prime LeBron allowed JJ Barea to guard him sometimes and on the other end he was getting smoked defensively. The ultimate choke job in NBA history. It’s a shame Wades performance gets overlooked, but he was the best player on the court and did his best to carry the team, but when prime LeBron is being outplayed by Jason Terry night in and night out it’s going to be tough.

    After watching this, I finally realize how the Mavericks beat the Heat: pure strategy. It doesn't matter if ur team is the heavy favorite. If you don't use pure strategy against the underdogs to prove ur superiority like the Heat against the Mavericks, you lose. The Mavericks really did deserve to be the 2011 NBA champions

    that Game 6 fade away by Dirk in the 4thQ with Bosh literally all over his face was the most beautiful clutch NBA Finals shots I've ever seen! How in the world did that ball go in!!!
    Ranks up there with Jordan's game winner in 98, Dr. J's one-handed out-of-bounds around and under the goal layup, Robert Horry's 3 in Detroit in '05, Magic's sky-hook in Boston, Kyrie's 3 in golden State, Vinny's shot over Kersey in Portland, Vernon Maxwell's 3 in 94, Kobe's 3 in '04, and of course Ray Allen's 3 against San Antonio.

    My favorite quote from Coach Nick in the video, "Both Dwayne Wade and LeBron James took turns shrinking from the moment with plays not befitting their superstar status, perhaps forever severing their comparisons to Michael Jordan" So people please stop with the ridiculous Jordan and LeBron comparisons. Jordan always rose to the occasion in the finals while LeBron completely disappeared in the clutch at the worst time.

    • @gmac3335
      @gmac3335 9 років тому +56

      Jay Smoothe
      It's not like what Coach Nick said was untrue. LeBron completely disappeared at the worst times in the 2011 finals.He had games where he didn't score in the 4th quarter. LeBron has gotten better over the years but disappearing at a critical time was inexcusable, which pretty much destroys any comparison to Jordan. Jordan, nor Bird or Magic never came up so short in the finals. Coach Nick's statement is accurate.

    • @JaySmoothe27
      @JaySmoothe27 9 років тому +30

      Gmac just because he froze up in one series doesnt completely invalidate LeBron's complete career. Therefore its absurd that Nick thinks 2011 means LeBron will never compare to Jordan.

    The Dallas Mavericks became the first team in NBA history since the institution of the 2-3-2 format to enter Game 3 tied 1-1, lose Game 3 and still win the Finals. The previous 11 times this has occurred, the Game 3 winner went on to win the series. The Dallas Mavs also made history from this... AWESOME!!!!

    Dirk really reserved it. Wade is my fav player, James nr 2, but they didn't deserve it in 2011. But the loss was good, it was the reason why James improved his skills so much and won the championship next season. Also, his personality changed to the positive. It's just a little sad for Wade, he was the best player in the 2011 finals, it was a top 10 finals performance ever! Really, that's not a joke, look it up.

      What? He shot 41% from the field. If LeBron hadn't played the worst series of his career, Dwyane Wade would have won his 2nd Finals MVP (26.5 points per game on 54% shooting.)

    The Heat had one of the lowest assist ratios in the league - close to 53% I believe. We can cut them a little slack because they don't have a post presence who can pass, but 53% is still way too low to win a title. The Mavs led the league in assist ratio. Those Bulls teams of the 90s all had assist ratios of at least 60%.

    That may be true however you can't argue that Michael didn't help his team-mates because all the teams would key on Michael giving the rest of his team-mates open shots. And it could not really apply to Kobe as he has 5 rings almost directly from immense individual talent. But yes you could make a point as well.

  • @bballbreakdown
    @bballbreakdown  13 років тому

    @23jamesdixon Interesting point. I think dribbling the ball off your foot in the 4th quarter when you're down 10 w/ lots of time left is choking. This series is the perfect example of how far chemistry can take a team. I have never seen Dwyane Wade take so many bad shots in my life. He was absolutely determined to be the alpha or take the team down with him. And Lebron James with all his talent and skill had the potential to wreck the Dallas defense but he just handed the ball to Wade whenever he wanted it and watched him dribble the possessions away. 1 overaggressive superstar plus 1 choking superstar is a fail formula.

    The same way everybody else has. Just Play Lebron in the Finals.... how many times has LeFlopper been Crushed in the Finals? 6 Times?

      Whats funny is he was also getting crushed in 2 out of the 3 he won. I dont think dudes ever been comfortable in the finals outside of the thunder series.

    @AndiOVai I can't believe it, but Jason Terry completely made me change my mind about him. He was fantastic in this year's playoffs.

      +Tyler Riley Wade made some horrendous plays late in games in that series too

      Yeah, but with the way that Wade was playing, he would have been finals MVP if they beat the mavericks.

      darthrevan6 and Wade came to play. I would be at ease with him making mistakes because he was trying to win.
