With ONE superstar. That’s why Dirk is a legend. He only got one ring, but it’s one of the most impressive rings ever

1. swept defending champ lakers complete with kobe fisher odom metta gasol bynum etc (plus phil jackson)
2. defeated blazers with aldridge brandon roy fernandez batum camby andre miller etc
3. took down okc with baby kd russ and harden (though babies, still solid)
4. huge finals underdogs and came back from 1-2 against lebron wade bosh
the most underrated title run of modern NBA history (arguably alongside 04 Pistons)

One of the most satisfying Finals series ever. Pulling an upset and veterans earning their much-deserved championship.
after watching the last dance, its so abundantly clear the mental difference between Mike and Lebron, at least in this point of their career. The way Lebron was talking to his teammates it was like he didn't even truly believe what he was saying. Mike didn't need to say any of that at game time, because he lived it every day in practice and showed his teammates by example what a leader is. Lebron will never be on that level.
Yup I've always felt the same way LeBron is amazing but he isn't as hard-core as Jordan or Kobe.

Mavericks in 2011 are similar to Spurs in 2014: full of veterans and much deeper than the Heat. Plus LeBron choked big time vs the Mavs...but Dirk Novitzki, Jason Kidd, Jason Terry, Tyson Chandler, Shawn Marion, Caron Butler, Peja Stojakovic, Brandon Haywood, JJ Barea, Deshawn Stevenson that's a very tough and deep team full of big-time veterans
This is one of my favorite series and I was rooting for Miami too because I was still a LeBron and Wade fan. But I was so happy for Dirk, JKidd, Peja, Chandler, and Co. when they won a ring.

Watching them stick it to the Heat was one of the most epic runs in sports history... Instead of LeBron they had Shawn Marion. Instead of D-Wade they had Jason Terry and Stevenson. On paper, the Mavs appeared outmatched at basically every position (with the possible exception of their front court). But they played as a team, always, and every single player contributed by scoring a bucket or making a defensive play at a key moment in the game. In the end, the Mavs beat a better outfit because they complimented each other's strengths, shored up each other's weaknesses, and most importantly played with guts and tenacity every game!
Always admired dirk.. he won his ring againts the big 3 in their prime. Incredible

One of the most classic, old school NBA finals
The NBA Finals used the 2-3-2 format from 1985 to 2013. During that time, 12 series were tied 1-1 after two games. This was the only time during that span that the team that lost Game 3 went on to win the championship.
This title run is one of the most memorable. A true underdog story we all can relate. This is one of the chips that was earned and not given.

The finals when James was schooled by Dirk on what a superstar really is. Wade played well, but he didn't get much help from James.
To be fair, Dirk was literally the worst guy on the court during the 2007 playoffs. Every possession he was either missing a shot, turning the ball over, or getting scored on. It came to a point where the Mavs media wanted to bench him. Of course Dirk is an all-time great, but even greats have horrible playoff outings.
The Mavs are my favorite team and this video brings back amazing memories!

This year was the first time I’d watched an NBA finals live. My mate and I watched every Mavs and Heat game from the UK (he supports Heat, I support Mavs) we missed a LOT of sleep as they started at 2 in the morning but we were both just happy we met in the final. I will never forget it!
