yep once kobe missed that wide open game winner in game 1 in 2011 vs dallas...the doubt creeped in and the mavs gained confidence...they didnt play well at all in game 1....and they still got a 1-0 lead...i remember they were down 19 in that game and came back....i thought after the game mavs won but they could have played a whole lot better and i thought the lakers dominated that game and they still lost.....kobrick could have ended the mavs and put la in the finals if he hit that 1 shot...but he didnt...he bricked it and the mavs just played better and better each game....lakers played worse...this game they didnt even want to be out there....thats how you end a dynasty...you blow them out when you have a chance ...same thing in 2003 with horrys miss..in game 6 the spurs just wouldnt let la hang around like they did vs the kings in 2002..no game 7 vs the refs..end it in la.......and if lebron didnt cramp up in game 1 in 2014 miami goes home for game 3 and 4 up 2-0...series over......the heat were leading until he left and then in the 4th the spurs went off...hitting 3's and making everything...they didnt let it come down to 2 plays....they took the game when they had it to make sure they went to miami 1-1.......if they had to win 2 in miami down 2-0 no way they win that series....sometimes when luck happens you have to take advantage of it cause if you play around your gonna lose...aka the suns in 93 and the jazz in 98...that 3rd title team is always the weakest

The problem with the BENCH of the mavs that season was........ Their bench players used to be in a starting line up..
Peja with kings, terry with hawks, haywood with wizards, and if butler didnt get hurt who knows maybe shawn coming off the bench too, he was a starter in phoenix. The mavs are too strong that year. Really bred for championship.

I come back to this video from time to time over the years. I remember that season well. I remember telling my friend Jay, may he rest in peace, before the season started that Dallas had assembled the best collection of three-point shooters in the history of the game (at that time) and with the addition of Tyson Chandler that the Mavs was going to win the championship. I wasn't speaking with hyperbole, I was supremely confident in their playing ability and Rick Carlisle's coaching ability.

#1... It came against a supposedly FAR superior back to back champion Laker team!
#2... It came in a possible elimination game!
#3... It came against the same player who lit up the Mavs in a regular season game for 81 points!
#4... It came against the best coach this game has ever seen!... who happened to be retiring afterward!

Mavs fans are as loyal as any in the league, we don't have a monster bandwagon like Hollywood's got every season. Also the very next year we lost Tyson Chandler to the Knicks and JJ Barea to the Timberwolves both of whom we wouldn't have the title without. Also, Bynum and Lamar showed a lot of class in this game trying to take out our players; just a fantastic way to show sportsmanship! By the way the Mavs series against OKC was a lot closer than this one was, by a longshot.

JET shoulda kept the wings out all game long. This dude was outta this world with the 3 point shooting.

3 things: 1. It’s refreshing to watch a team shoot threes at a high percentage and still shoot a lot. 2. This reminded me how lazy Fisher was on defense. 3. I love that the plumber breaks the record haha

Penetrtion-Drive-Drift-Pass-easy shot + strong agressive Defense! Its European Style. Good Job Mavs!

Definitely one of the joys of the 2011 Playoffs, watching the Lakers get swept by a barrage of 3-pointers from everyone that was relevant over the last decade. Peja, JET, and Dirk!

I almost enjoyed this game more than the finals win. LA has been a roadblock for Dallas forever. Loved the way a favorite to win it all panicked in offseason and started to blow up team. TY LA for Odom and the coolest Kardashian lol.

Lakers got crushed in this game, and now they're a measly 11-8 this year. The Mavs started the downfall of the LAKERS :D

yo Peja and JET had some laser finders on this entire game... their shots were guiding themselves in.

I don't know why they wouldn't throw the Jet a contract man. He's done so much for this team.

Daaaaamn....The Mavericks are one of the most dangerous teams in the NBA, I mean like they have like 3 points in every corner D:

Why is this in my recommended? Anyways, this just shows that this Dallas team was an all time great team. Tying an NBA playoff record (at the time) and sweeping the defending champs. Going on to beat the Heat in 6.

Well it's simple: If one team playes great and the other team plays bad, that's the result. It was shocking and amazing how fucking good the mavericks were in those series.

All of those who think the Lakers are going straight to the Finals this year should watch this video. The Lakers did 0 to address their horrendous guard, pick/roll defense. 3's can be shot all day against this team. Dwight is great as a rim defender, but he is not good at defending the pick/roll (in fact he gets a ton of fouls hedging too much) and Steve Nash is an even higher liability defensively b/c of his age. This game was not an aberration, but a sign of how bad the Lakers' perimeter D is.

Look at Gasol closely in each play. He looks so lost and wasn't even guarding anyone.

We took this one from the Lakers, I have no idea what happened in that series, but afterwards I had a good feeling they were going all the way. Lakers are the better franchise hands down. They should win a championship this year after taking 4 other teams best players, or hall of famers......yeah right.
