Dirk and also his title is soo underrated. He destroyed, fully loaded LAL, POR, OKC and MIA ... no champion in recent years had more competition! He killed Kobe, Gasol, Roy, Aldridge, Westbrook, Harden, Durant, Wade, James and Bosh by his own! Only Champ I remember, who won a Championship as the only Starplayer!? I think you could put Olajuwon on that single starplayer winning the title in 1994, that's about it that I know of. Also, on the way to the title beating all stars like Malone, Stockton, Barkley, Kevin Johnson, Ewing, Drexler, Rod Strickland. But I'm not sure if any one player could match Dirk's performances in the 4th Q in 2011.

He's firmly in the top 20 of all time only because he didn't win multiple rings. Had he won another ring or two, he'd easily be top 15, imo. Mavs failed him by not giving him better teams and the refs robbed him in 06. Dirk and Nash should have at least won 2 rings together. oh well, at least he got his one ring and it was the sweetest championship in recent memory.

I love that part and then the clock hits 00:00 and he climbs over and goes to the tunnel to go to the back , they had to bring him back out to hold up the trophy. A year later when Miami wins , the LeBron commercial comes on of the championship ring being custom made and the ring maker looks on the 📺 and they replay the part with Nowitzki arms up " AND THAT SHOULD DO IT FOR THE DALLAS MAVERICKS! "
They had an impressive roster that year, tremendous 3-pt shooters in Nowitzki, Stojaković, Jason Terry, also JJ Barea and Kidd are decent at 3-pointers...but Dirk was still absolutely the engine of that victorious 2010-11 Dallas team. Countless amazing performances, especially some of those point totals against OKC who featured three total superstars (Westbrook, Durant and Harden) of their own...congrats Dirk and thank you for that amazing run! As I write this he is probably in his final season. Maybe one more year...his best is behind him, but his performances in the 2011 playoffs are immortal!

2011 Dirk was the best player to ever play in an NBA Finals imo. He was clutch, how many 1 foot fade away shots did he make in that playoff run? And all those 3 balls.

It was magical. 2011 was an amazing year once you add in the St Louis Cardinals magical run to the WS championship, and the Patriots absurd run to 18 and... oops 😬
For real. It didn't matter who they matched against in the playoffs that year, this team was going to find a way to win. Everybody played their part at the highest level.
Dirk Nowitzki averaged 26.0 points, 9.7 rebounds and 2.0 assists in 6 games in the 2011 NBA Finals. Not bad for the big German. Dirk still the man down here in Dallas.
Dirk should honestly have two rings. I will never forget the horrendous foul called for D Wade in game 5 of the first finals meeting. That was a series changing bad call and I have never respected D Wade's first ring because of it.

OKC Thunder 2016 if they completed the championship run, they did beat 67 win Spurs, faced 73 win Warriors and should face Lebron Cavs if they didn't blow 3-1 lead to Warriors, if KD completed that run that year, KD and his whole Thunder team would easily be hardest ring earned ever and will top this 2011 Mavs ring.

Marco M KD got schooled by dirk and actually KD elevated his shot thanks to that dirk one leg fade away. What KD could have learned too is that Dirk gave his heart out to win those playoffs, KD threw OKC and Westbrook under the bus to win with a team that eliminated them on the conference finals when they were winning 3-1.... KD never had to give his heart out cuz he always had backup hence his 2 rings not being that much appraised by the league in general. He won it with the fucking GSW what a surprise 😂

Game 4 vs. OKC is legendary. What a performance.
I sometimes watch it when I feel the need to psych up.
Only Rivals GAME 2 of the finals that same year and BOTH WHERE COME FROM BEHIND WINS TOO!
Watched that game live on TV. Still one of the most memorable games I've ever watched and I'm not a Mavs fan lol. That contorted fadeaway he did in the 4th qtr comeback was unreal
i was 15 when i watched this series. dirk was on a MISSION and that dallas team was MEAN. barea, stojakovic, marion, chandler, kidd, terry. all of those guys stepped up when they needed to. truly deserved championship.
Game 2 in the 2011 finals was probably the greatest game I ever watched live (on TV). Such a magical moment and unforgettable comeback.
I went from thinking Miami is gonna sweep them to “oh shit Dallas is still in this”
came to watch this after his final home game. Im a rockets fan but i have so much respect for dirk and what he has done for the sport of basketball. God Speed
2011 Mavs the definition of a TEAM.!
Best Shooting Big Man of All Time! One of the Best Scorers of All Time! One of the Best Clutch Players of All Time! -> not even to be considered as Top 10 Player?
I think you could put Olajuwon on that single starplayer winning the title in 1994, that's about it that I know of. Also, on the way to the title beating all stars like Malone, Stockton, Barkley, Kevin Johnson, Ewing, Drexler, Rod Strickland. But I'm not sure if any one player could match Dirk's performances in the 4th Q in 2011.
I agree man it was crazy! But I dont feel like he did it all by himself that team was something special even though they weren’t all stars the team was deep they all scored and played well when it counted
@Savage Cabbage Clyde Drexler was traded to the Rockets in the middle of the 94-95 season prior to winning the 1995 NBA Finals vs. Shaq, Penny & the Magic. Clyde the Glide is my favorite NBA player of all-time.
i got him in my top 15 as like 15th
He's firmly in the top 20 of all time only because he didn't win multiple rings. Had he won another ring or two, he'd easily be top 15, imo. Mavs failed him by not giving him better teams and the refs robbed him in 06. Dirk and Nash should have at least won 2 rings together. oh well, at least he got his one ring and it was the sweetest championship in recent memory.
Well deserved ring
His fadeaway was just as unstoppable as Kareem's skyhook.
I'm a die hard Spurs fan but I never was able to hate Dirk. Didn't like Jason Terry, didn't like Mark Cuban, but Dirk I could never dislike. What a legend!
That's what a lot of people who hate the Yankees say about Jeter
The guy torched the reigning champs LAL, the OKC with 2 stars and 1 rising star, AND THE FUCKIN BIG3 HEAT. Hands down, the most valuable RING of all time.
This really was the best run of all time hands down! I still remember watching it live and couldn't believe what he was doing
Dirk put this team on his back and mowed over some all time greats. This is probably the most impressive playoff performance, beginning to end, that I have ever witnessed. Truly magnificent!
People underrate a bit the team s contribution. Without shawn marion in defense for example they never win anything.
Aoughi lol their defense so underrated Dirk was a monster but kawhi raptors… Was easily more impressed Dirk just got more free throws
Thank god someone recognize how great this playoff run was could easily be one of the greatest of all time they ran through Portland destroyed the lakers and okc and the big 3 in Miami but they constantly say Lebron didn’t show up honestly no team in that playoffs could have stop dirk and the mavs that year
yeah, nobody had any effect on his shot that year, when he missed it was his fault not the defense
Dirk Nowitzki, Playoff run in 2009 against the Denver Nuggets was epic…Nikola Jokic’s current playoff run reminds me of that series…Hopefully it will have the same result…Denver in 5…Larry Bird, Dirk Nowitzki and Nikola Jokic made the Shot’s from anywhere on the court that we’re nearly impossible and could be relied upon night after night…Much Respect Dirk Nowitzki…You we’re truly a pleasure to watch…Carried Yourself Very Well…Todays players don’t know how to handle success and could learn a thing from you all about class acts…
Cant believe this was 6 years ago
More like 10 lol
10 years
Cant believe these two didnt look at the comment properly
@@rudy1999 do you understand how time works?
It will be 14 years in June damn...
I smiled so much watching this
This is how I wish Porzingis plays
We all feel this way smh
Amen
He can, if he’s willing to work with Dirk and Dirk’s Coach/aka Shot Doctor!
I was so excited when Porzingis was traded to Mavs. It was like a dream come true and best news of that year. Look at him now... I hope he realize Mavs are very disappointed
Dirk running up the court with his hands up knowing that he won the championship is iconic as hell "and that should do it for the DALLAS MAVERICKS"
His one ring is worth more then Durants and Lebrons combined.
Lebrons heat rings yes, but not the cav one
Dirk was, more or less, "in the zone" through out that playoff run.
the longest Zone I've seen any player was in
They had an impressive roster that year, tremendous 3-pt shooters in Nowitzki, Stojaković, Jason Terry, also JJ Barea and Kidd are decent at 3-pointers...but Dirk was still absolutely the engine of that victorious 2010-11 Dallas team.
I remember watching this, Dirk was truly amazing, especially against the Heat
Definitely one of the greatest playoffs runs!
2011 dirk was legit crazy
Whenever im having a bad day i come here.
That 15 point comeback in less than 7 minutes in Game 2 is probably the major reason I fell in love with the game.
Chirag Kamra
Me too, I came to watch the big 3, with all the hype. Didn’t know much about basketball 🏀 and Dirk and Mavericks put on such a clutch entertaining beat down on some young boisterous star players.
Turned me into a basketball 🏀 fan.
Hey a shoutout to young men, because sooner or later they kick us old men to the curb and they say “Sit down old man it’s my turn”
They got me after game 2 of the lakers' sweep, when I read the news here in Germany and asked myself: "what's happening there in the British colonies?" Then I bought an NBA league pass and had several sleepless nights. Astonishing team play.
This video is ridiculous. 5 minutes in and ive seen 20 all time ridiculous shots somehow go in and barely hit the net.
I think Dirk Nowitzki was the best contested shooter of all time
7H Gino Kevin Durant and Kobe are up there as well. KD because he's 7 feet too and Kobe because he's Kobe.
@@FoxyChariot Kobe maybe. Durant, no.
@Joseph Kony - child kidnapper WarLord Prophet im a massive dirk fan but curry is the best shooter of all time
@Joseph Kony - child kidnapper WarLord Prophet what an idiot. curry was a great shooter since his rookie season considering he broke the record for rookie 3s in a season while shooting 43% 3fg as a rookie and that was in 2009 ray allens era. please spare me. hand checking dont stop 30 footers . you try guarding him that up you'll get exposed. how tf do you expect him to be the goat shooter in his 1st 2 seasons. and he was well on his way. superteam? kd made it a sup[erteam. curry broke the record for 3s ina season in 2013 man before klay was relevant and draymond was a rookie . thats the superteam?
This just gave me the chills most games comming from behind the count and still winning, that playoff he was just possesed amazing to watch how that maverick team performed specially my favorite player since sir Charles Barkley, the great Nowitzky
Possesed. Yes . That's the right word. Thx
One of the best individual playoff runs EVER!
Dirk's 2011 playoff run made me a fan of his as beforehand, I didn't think he'd win one as I didn't think he had the physical & mental toughness to get his team to the Promise Land. He showed me things I didn't see in years prior during that playoff run that I never saw beforehand.
its why I hate when people say he should of won more than 1 ring..well no cause from 2000-2010 and 2011 onwards hes been pretty soft..2011 was the one season he played tough
@@razkable Wtf? When was Dirk soft? Even Kobe acknowledges Dirk as someone who’s extremely competitive. You’re talking about somebody who never left his team even though he could’ve gone elsewhere to win more. Fuck out of here with that nonsense.
Dirk always performed better in the playoffs. 07 and 06 were obviously disappointing years but he was always a clutch player. And I’d argue his prime years were 05-09, it’s just unfortunate he didn’t win a ring during that time.
2011 Dirk was the best player to ever play in an NBA Finals imo. He was clutch, how many 1 foot fade away shots did he make in that playoff run? And all those 3 balls.
Deam, Dirk won a NBA title, after winning against Kobe, Gasol-Lakers, Durant, Westbrook, Harden-OKC and at the end against King James, Wade and Bosh- Heat... deam, thats the toughest NBA Championship ever won... a team with one All-Star wins against every other team with at least 2 allstars
I can't stop laughing at how absurd some of these shots look on camera and he just makes them all. Phenomenal stuff.
Now that he is retired, I’ll have to lean on these throwbacks from now on😥
Dirk Nowitzki IS ONE OF THE LOWKEY King of Clutch
Man He Literally BEAT TOP TEAMS with his Clutch shootings,
My god did they come back from -10 in the 4th q of every single game????
Very well coached team.
They had a lot of ridiculous comebacks during the run against OKC and Miami for sure. They were absolutely nails in the 4th while other teams fell apart.
almost, and I think I remember, Dirk scored double digits in every 4th quarter.
Dirk before the start of every 4th quarter in that playoff run: “We are down by 10? Ok, hold my beer”
Remember it like yesterday. At the beginning of the playoffs that year, I hadnt even considered Dallas as a serious championship contender, most didn't. That's what truly made it special.
Saw it all live. He was unstoppable this year.
My man was straight up UNSTOPPABLE in the '11 Finals... how many of those shots he dropped off a skyscraper and the net didn't even move... idk if I've ever seen another professional athlete completely put his team on his back and dominate multiple FUTURE HoFers and 2 players in the GOAT conversation in a single postseason run. It was magical. 2011 was an amazing year once you add in the St Louis Cardinals magical run to the WS championship, and the Patriots absurd run to 18 and... oops 😬
I wish they would have kept the team together for 2-3 more years
And remember how they didn't even have Butler for this run?
Not resigning Tyson chandler is one of mark cubans dumbest moves. Why break up a championship team??
the cast was old.
Mavs win on Lakers 4-1in WC 2nd round i remember this year back in 2011
@@Mikaeel0914 Nope they swept the lakers
This is my favorite video on UA-cam.
German Jesus. 'Nuff said.
2023 and this still one of the coldest runs I’ve ever seen. One of the greatest rings of all time
For real. It didn't matter who they matched against in the playoffs that year, this team was going to find a way to win. Everybody played their part at the highest level.
That 20-2 run at the end of game 2 of the finals to prevent a 0-2 series deficit, on the road nonetheless, is legendary
Lmfao Yall couldn't stop a guy who turns his son into a girl. 😂😂😂
Can you imagine how soul crushing it was for Pau to be glued to dirk for 20 seconds all for him to drain a high-arching, one-legged fadeaway with your hand 2 inches from his face.... DE-stroyed
Some of these game-time situational shots are what makes crunch-time in basketball the most entertaining moment in sports. Dirk's run in this championship chase is a perfect example. One of the most entertaining playoff runs I've ever seen in the history of the sport
Bruh, Dirk was that dude!! 20 years from now, there's gonna be reaction videos about a big man who shot that thang!! Kick out leg fade aways ARE STILL DONE by other players...professional and otherwise...salute Dirk, I respected your game and time in the league...I'm hella glad u got a ring too! I wished Nash would've been with you when u did, but nevertheless...u did it bro, much love and respect. #4ever41
This playoff run showed what great individual skill can do when surrounded by good role players that mesh.
To me this was the single greatest run of any professional team in the history of sports. A true team vs a super team. Ending kobe's career. Defeating, Durant, Harden, AND westbrook in OKC.
last great season of NBA basketball, long live dirk nowitzki
2016*
2014 was the last great era. Past that, the Warriors 3 point craze started and that was the nail in the coffin.
2021 and still give me chills
One of the greatest scorers and closers the game has ever seen
2011 Dirk is the best clutch player I've ever seen.
Hard to think of a better playoff performance than Dirk in 2011
OKC Thunder 2016 if they completed the championship run, they did beat 67 win Spurs, faced 73 win Warriors and should face Lebron Cavs if they didn't blow 3-1 lead to Warriors, if KD completed that run that year, KD and his whole Thunder team would easily be hardest ring earned ever and will top this 2011 Mavs ring.
@@BullyMaguire387 Nah KD had Russ, Ibaka and bunch of good role players around him
@@gerritlullau8174 And their road to Finals are 67 Spurs who's only homr loss that year is againts Warriors, Warriors with 73-9 record and Lebron Cavs with Kyrie and Love. No team can beat this teams if they exist in different years/seasons. That's like compressing 3 title favorites in one season and now tell me how is not harder road than 2011 Mavs. LMAO 😂
@@BullyMaguire387 OKC blew a 3-1 lead so stop "should've , would've" non sense. It didn't happen and thats a fact
@@gerritlullau8174 You don't comprehend what I said? I'm just explaining that OKC's road is harder than Mavs. Learn to read and understand, I didn't even said "would've should've" cause my point is 67 Spurs, 73 Warriors and Lebron Cavs is one of the hardest road for any team. LEARN. TO. READ. AND. UNDERSTAND. LMAOOOO 🤡🤣🙌
We can all agree this is nowitzki's peak , no one can stop him that year
2024 feels a lot like 2011! The current team is built similar but better all around
I loved watching every minute of this.
This was so fun to watch
Dirk Nowitzki gibisi gelmez beyler çok özel adamdı çok muhteşem maçlar izletti bizlere Dirk
He had been underrated for a long Time. In 2011 he showed that he was one of the greatest in NBA
That midrange 1 foot fade is so unguardable
Dirk one ring > Durant’s two rings
What does KD have to do with this oh and also what about lebron
@@marcom667 LeBron gets serious props for that CLE ring. his Heat rings were not as impressive.
Stockton/Malone/Barkley/Iverson/Ewing ZERO rings > KD's two rings
Lebrons 2 Miami rings and Mickey mouse ring (I'll not include the Cleveland ring even tho GS was missing players) < Dirks 1 ring
Honestly that fade away is just so un guardable it use to make me lose my mind watching it back in the day . Just nasty
I loved every second of Dirk just serving that German Sausage for D. Wade and Leflop.
The debate for the who's the goat will never end, but this is (and was) the greatest championship run of all time, no debate accepted.
I love how Nowitzki could just slow the game down and make it look so easy. So chill lol
He doesn't let the game dictate his pace
I watched that championship run. I would put his championship up there in the top 5 as far as degree of difficulty. He was the only all star on that team. He carried that team to that title. Seriously.
They swept the Lakers lol. Terry and Stojakovic went in the zone in the 4th game. That was incredible.
For a guy who's one of the best ever, he's criminally underrated.
Insane!! How do you stop a 7 foot walking bucket! Crazy everywhere he went, was in, mid game was money, shooting over people, high arc , even 7ft Gasol barely reached for it.
This is the greatest video ever created
