hey guys! i FINALLY made a new video about studying Japanese, this time about speaking + pronunciation, so definitely check it out if you're learning; I think it can be beneficial no matter what level you're at (or what language you're learning!) ua-cam.com/video/cm6-aTARFq8/v-deo.html thank you so much for all the love on this video~
Prayer As a Lifestyle Answer me when I call to you, O God who declares me innocent. Free me from my troubles. Have mercy on me and hear my prayer. -Psalm 4:1 Have you ever thought there was no future for you, that it was just too late? If so, then you need to know more about the power of God and what can take place through prayer. One thing that certainly stands out in the pages of Scripture is that prayer can dramatically change situations, people, and, on occasion, even the course of nature itself. But what prayer changes the most is us. God will allow hardship and difficulties in our lives so that He can reveal Himself and put His power and glory on display for those who are watching. When we pray, we’re acknowledging our need for God’s help. Maybe that is why we don’t pray as much as we ought to. Prayer is an admission of weakness on our part, and some people don’t like to admit weakness. However, we’re foolish if we think we don’t need God. The psalmist was being honest with God when he prayed, “Wake up, O Lord! Why do you sleep? Get up! Do not reject us forever. . . . Rise up! Help us! Ransom us because of your unfailing love” (Psalm 44:23, 26) It isn’t always a bad thing to complain to God or to bring your concerns, your questions, your pain, and your sadness to Him. We repeatedly read in the Gospels that Jesus prayed, and He prayed a lot. He would spend the night in prayer, and He would rise early while the disciples were still sleeping and pray. As Jesus hung on the cross, He cried out, “My God, my God, why have you abandoned me?” (Matthew 27:46) Jesus wasn’t having a crisis of faith, as some have suggested. It was the opposite. As He was dying for the sins of the world, He simply was describing the moment when God the Father turned His holy face away and poured the sins of all humanity upon Christ, who never committed a single sin. Jesus was crying out to the Father, and we can do the same when we’re in pain. We should get into a habit of prayer. We tend to make prayer a very formal matter, and we become hung up on that. But when a burden hits us, we should pray right then. When something troubles us or concerns us, we should turn it into a prayer right away. We need to develop a lifestyle of prayer. Philippians 4 reminds us, “Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then, you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus” (verses 6-7) What do you do with your heartache? Pray. Commit it to the Lord. Cry out to God in your sorrow and pain. Call on God for His provision, protection, and guidance. And give thanks to Him for your joys..
I learned how to speak Japanese using Anki. I literally only used it like 5-10 minutes per day. It did take about 1.5-2 years to learn how to speak, but I put such a small amount of effort into learning that I feel like I cheated. It feels like I just magically know how to speak Japanese.
wow that’s amazing!! i feel like anki for me is just for learning my words but i have trouble stringing those words into a sentence lol. even in english it’s hard to speak 😂
@@ebifried just anki? no other activities? listening speaking? kanji or vocab on anki? if you got any tips( for fluency/learning ) please share if you want
@@Sp9u8 I learned the 2000 most common Japanese words with Anki. For the grammar, I just watched a few quick Japanese grammar videos on UA-cam. You don't really need to memorize it, but a general idea of how their grammar works will help quite a bit. Then I just watched an absolute ton of Japanese movies and dramas and stuff like that. You'll come to terms with the grammar just from being exposed to the language, so that's why it's not really important to memorize much of it from the start. I watched everything with subtitles on for a very long time, until I could get the gist of what was being said without reading the subtitles, then I started watching everything without subtitles. By the time you switch to non-subtitles you should have had enough exposure to understand the grammar, and know enough words to get the general idea of the sentence. That's exactly how I learned. I basically just used Anki to learn the most commonly said words, and watched dramas to fill in the rest. It took roughly 2 years, and took practically zero effort, because the most important part is watching the dramas, and I would have eventually watched them either way. If she makes a video, you should probably watch it, though. Everybody has some kind of helpful tips that'll make your life a little easier. Oh, and I didn't learn Kanji yet. I wouldn't worry about it if I were you. At least not until you can speak.

Ja sensei is a good app to check grammar. Well, I haven't gone through all the lessons, but, what I can say for sure is that this app explains the topic in the simplest way and gives you a bunch of examples. I find it very useful

I've been using Renshuu so far, and while I am very much taking my time with Japanese. I've been loving how comprehensive it's been and how the settings allow me to adjust things based on my study style. Having it show pitch accent when learning the words and being able open a dictionary (complete with community notes) by tapping a word or kanji within just one app has been super convenient.

I started off learning hiragana and katakana as anyone else would, then I learned the grammar structure and that took abt 10-20 mins until I moved onto particles which I do not regret because I have a proper understanding to the different ways I can use certain particles, thx to 裕子先生 from smilenihongoacademy, I don't use much apps to learn japanese but I'll definitely check out the ones u suggested.
I’m pretty confused how do I start learning Japanese do I start with learning the hiragana and katakana alphabet and mesmerise it and then learn what words mean and grammar I’m so confused could u tell me how to start
@@itsky0ral760 ofc you should definitely learn hiragana and katakana first. to start off with grammar I think you should learn particles first because they're one of the hardest parts of Japanese especially when you have to take notes on them, after you've done that, then u should start learning nouns in an order like, animal, person, place and thing, after learn adjectives and verbs.
@@itsky0ral760 now kanji on the other hand I can't lie it's quite difficult but I'm sure you can get through it in due time, firstly you should start learning the numbers, 一、二、三、etc. good luck
Thanks! I've recently decided to try learn Japanese 1. To watch anime without subtitles 2. I feel like I'd enjoy speaking Japanese more 3. It's one of my favourite cultures, anime aside the folklore, the mythos and the technology.

Keep up the good work studying Japanese, thanks for sharing your app recommendations. I’ve been studying and speaking Japanese for aaagges, but make the same grammar mistakes from way back. Might revisit and use some of these to fix my bad habits.
i have this problem too! my best way for fixing that has been italki >_< my teachers know it’s a weak point (after years of having it unchecked, like a bad disease lol) and by the end when we review my mistakes, i can become more conscious of what grammar mistakes they are! gradually i notice them reducing as well which is super motivating and helps with confidence in speaking too 🙈

HeyJapan is a really good App, but I recommend you to use books because if you don't have the premium version I don't think it will be useful for long. Aleas, as someone who has also just started, put a lot of effort into all your new skills that are being developed. Anyway.... Hi! I don't know who you are but I would like to tell you that there is a God who loves you deeply, who cares and has a lot of concern for you. If you're alive, know that it's because He remembered you for one more day, even if you don't deserve it. You know, people can be mean and don't care about others, maybe you live a life like that, and I want you to know that you are so important. God loves you so much that more than 2000 years ago he gave his ONLY son for the love of your life. Who would? Would you give your child for people who make mistakes all the time like you and me? Only someone as benign as He! Jesus is coming back! His Son, who died on a cross that was yours and mine, but rose again, and was taken up to heaven, will soon return and we have to be prepared for that. Nothing is worth your eternity! Leave your sins, homosexuality, and all the other things the bible talks about. Seek to live a life after God's own heart, and you will be rewarded with a peace of mind that no one but HE can give you and a joy beyond measure. Being His friend is everything! God be with you! Jesus loves you!Leave your sins, homosexuality and etc...Jesus is coming back!

For writing in hiragana and katakana Im using a "write Japanese" Its really cool app that will help you remeber how to write. U can do practice mode or test and for each one character there is also a pronouncion how u should say it.
Aw Anki costs 30€ for me :( and I sadly don’t have that kinda money for one app :( but I’m gonna look for the other apps too and look what works best for me! :)
there should be a community app where Japanese lessons are based around the repetitive use of certain words in a episode of a show. like a quiz and education on words and then once the lessons are done. you watch the show and start catching more of those words used in the show.
there is always italki/ plenty of other places where you can take private lessons and choose exactly how you want them done, but this does sound like such a cool idea!
i use youtube kids as well to watch shows for kids in Japanese. you can select certain videos and channels that way you dont get random english vids in between
aaa this helped so much thank you. if you don't mind me asking, i'd really appreciate knowing your approach to learning grammar. right now its my biggest struggle. also! do you use satori reader? if so do you enjoy it? I kind of find it a bit hard to be motivated to use it.
I used hellotalk and had no idea that people used line and/or wechat for those purposes so i downloaded both and have surprisingly only found 1 weird person out of around 5, pretty good ratio if you ask me
I really want to learn Japanese😻 last 2019 I studied katakana but I got busy in my job and didn't finish it now I'm going to try this apps to continue my learning. I really love anime so I got some words/phrases from there too☺️

@@kog6445 anki is free on desktop and android so the paid one is only on apple :( if you use it a lot on desktop and KNOW you will commit and use it, it’s definitely worth the investment! but make sure you like the app and it fits your study style first
I picked up the free one on my iPad, sadly I only own Apple devices so I think I'm stuck to it. I don't feel like investing to much just yet, I'm only on day 20 of learning. In light of this, I feel rude to ask so much- where did you start learning? I'm using duolingo, do you know any other routes, I'd like to diversify a little further.
@@kog6445 ohh that’s perfect then! yeah u totally don’t need to spend money on the app when it’s free :) i rlyyyy don’t recommend duo lingo 😅 i tried it, seems very illogical because the connection between english grammar and japanese is soooo different! i started with kumon 🤣 if you ever have specific japanese questions you can ask in my discord! the link is in bio 😊
Those apps sound amazing! However do you have any recommendation for apps to learn grammar? Or the resources you and other friends used to learn Japanese grammar?
i LOVE italki! probably my fav resource above every thing! duo lingo: maybe for other languages but it’s not good for japanese as an english native pimsleur; i was alr too advanced by the time i tried it but i didn’t rly like it! i don’t know the other 2!
i’ve watched gudetama with just japanese subs but i think it doesn’t have enough dialogue to keep me entertained 🥹 what else do you mean by sanrio related?
idk if you watched the video, but every app does something different 😂 if you’re only learning phrases for a trip, maybe youtube videos would be better
@ebifried - Thanks so much for this video. I recently just got back from my first trip to Japan and I'm determined to learn the language and become a Japanese citizen one day. I'll definitely be taking a look at the recommendations you provided. You've got my sub. Cheers!
lol, I had the same thought when I rushed to the App Store. I’m biting the bullet. The free apps just ain’t workin’ for me, man. Hopefully you’ll have the disposable income to lay down for it soon. Wish me luck!
Only on ios sadly cause anki's devs (which is completely free for android and desktop pc's) have to write the ios app in a completely different programming language just for ios which is a lot of work so they have to make the ios app Paid sadly
start off with like “most common 1k words” or something, you can google what you want and prob someone’s made it! find what’s matching with the textbook or other resource you’re using
Do you think - bc 🤔 there is a Japanese language class near me its once a week over 6 weeks I think (and after moves into intermediate) - do you think it would be worth it to go to a class over learning from apps ?
if you require the routine of formal education and enjoy it i think it would be great!! apps are good to supplement. you CAN learn japanese free and alone but having support is always better imo :)
I just started learning japenese and now every time I watch anime I try to read the hiragana letters lmao I once watched a gintama episode and I was able to read a milk box (it said “Ichigo”)
I have been using hellotalk for a year, but still not tried to talk or learn bcos of my studies....I'm a high school student that's why....but I really wanna learn Japanese....and I need a friend who can help me to learn Japanese ... plus I'm not there for dating stuff...I really wanna learn ❣️ Btw I'm from India.....if anyone want be my friend there .....lemme me know
I wish I had an app like Anki when I started to learn. Honestly the spoken language part is actually easy to pick up (At least for me and I use it from time to time at work), but the written part is a pain to learn.
I’m learning Japanese on Duolingo because it was the first app that I knew that taught how to speak other languages. It’s hard for me to learn kanji or hiragana because the symbols are very different from English so I read the romanized version of them. But I don’t know if I need to know the kanji to go to japan one day.
i don’t use android so i have no idea :( i’m sure they’re all great, i just like one where i can write the kanji with my finger! that must be an android function surely
A doubt. I use Anki with JLPT N5 for vocab, so if I expose myself to movies/series with subitles in japanese, am I gonna eventually learn the language ?
like just by using anki and immersion? probably but you should learn the grammar structures as well, then you’d be much faster in understanding what’s going! especially if your native language grammar structure is different to japanese (literally everything except korean probably lol)

Prayer As a Lifestyle
Answer me when I call to you, O God who declares me innocent. Free me from my troubles. Have mercy on me and hear my prayer.
-Psalm 4:1
Have you ever thought there was no future for you, that it was just too late?
Get up! Do not reject us forever. . . . Rise up! Help us! Ransom us because of your unfailing love”
(Psalm 44:23, 26)
It isn’t always a bad thing to complain to God or to bring your concerns, your questions, your pain, and your sadness to Him.
We repeatedly read in the Gospels that Jesus prayed, and He prayed a lot. He would spend the night in prayer, and He would rise early while the disciples were still sleeping and pray.
As Jesus hung on the cross, He cried out, “My God, my God, why have you abandoned me?” (Matthew 27:46)
Jesus wasn’t having a crisis of faith, as some have suggested.
His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus” (verses 6-7)
What do you do with your heartache? Pray. Commit it to the Lord. Cry out to God in your sorrow and pain. Call on God for His provision, protection, and guidance. And give thanks to Him for your joys..

@@Sp9u8 i’ll make a video on how i self study japanese~ it’s definitely not just anki LOL

Jesus wasn’t having a crisis of faith, as some have suggested.
I love the aesthetics!! I've been studying Japanese for a month now, and HeyJapan is my favorite. New sub here. Keep going❤
omg i only dream of being aesthetic!! thank uuu 🥰 i’ll have to check that one out!
Prayer As a Lifestyle
Answer me when I call to you, O God who declares me innocent. Free me from my troubles. Have mercy on me and hear my prayer.
-Psalm 4:1
Have you ever thought there was no future for you, that it was just too late?
Get up! Do not reject us forever. . . . Rise up!
He would spend the night in prayer, and He would rise early while the disciples were still sleeping and pray.

thanks reggie!! are you gonna use some for your japanese study? 👀
Seeing Gyakuten Saiban in that list hit me like a brick.

there should be a community app where Japanese lessons are based around the repetitive use of certain words in a episode of a show. like a quiz and education on words and then once the lessons are done. you watch the show and start catching more of those words used in the show.
there is always italki/ plenty of other places where you can take private lessons and choose exactly how you want them done, but this does sound like such a cool idea!
Jpdb has vocabulary lists per show
i use youtube kids as well to watch shows for kids in Japanese. you can select certain videos and channels that way you dont get random english vids in between

I was wondering what your thoughts on lingo deer
I wish I had an app like Anki when I started to learn. Honestly the spoken language part is actually easy to pick up (At least for me and I use it from time to time at work), but the written part is a pain to learn.
I’m learning Japanese on Duolingo because it was the first app that I knew that taught how to speak other languages. It’s hard for me to learn kanji or hiragana because the symbols are very different from English so I read the romanized version of them. But I don’t know if I need to know the kanji to go to japan one day.
you will definitely need kanji… duolingo is just a game disguised as language learning :\

it does!! there’s lots of copy cat apps that may be making it harder to find.. but it’s a blue star logo

Which dictionary do you recommend?
i don’t use android so i have no idea :( i’m sure they’re all great, i just like one where i can write the kanji with my finger! that must be an android function surely
But what if I just wanna learn how to speak Japanese and not how to write it?
What shows or movies do you watch on Netflix with Japanese subtitles? I am struggling to find stuff on Netflix with Japanese subtitles.
anything i want to watch i put it on japanese 😅 no more english tv…
