I bought a 1970 Mach1 351C 4speed shaker car in 1973 when I was 22. I still have it today 45 years later and it still sports its original factory Lime Green paint. It runs like a Swiss watch.

Back in the day I had a 70 Mach 1. Had a Cleveland in it but block had a hole where it launched a rod through it. Put in a Windsor with a Boss 302 cam ported heads alum original Ford intake. Guestimate about 350 hp. Fun on Woodward on Fri/Sat nights. Had to sell when I got kids.

My dad had a '69 Mach 1 back in the day - his was a 428 SCJ with a C6 & a/c. Dark green with a black stripe. I remember it would do fishtails when he stomped the gas on the freeway at 70 mph.
Watching this brought a tear to my eye lol

My dad and i purchased a gt350 and we were in the process of tearing it down and ziplock bagging and labelling it. He passed away 4 days after my birthday, had his funeral on valentines day. Miss him everyday. Talking about divine intervention, the build date on the gt350 is the exact day and year of my wifes birthday. God and dad played a part on that. Didnt know that till after his passing. Keep the faith alive brother. Im a mustang diehard at heart. Love to meet you someday. Im in Arkansas, God Bless.

Old Fords seem to take on a life of their own, even when old rusted and not running, and when there is a family connection to a car they become something even more, I hope one day the young lad gets to enjoy it....And He will feel his Dad there with him! Heartbreaking and warming in one fell swoop....And the guy selling it....legend, that is how life should work...you wanna flip it....flip off....you going to love it....its yours, Thanks for uploading this!
Edit, My Bday is the 16th of June, the day the Ford Motor Company was incorporated....The Blue oval is in my veins!!! Thanks to any person giving life to an old one!

We're going to have Jerry heasley Post a new video of old Blu cleaned up and running.....after fluid changes and a fresh battery and carburetor old Blu fired right up and sounds awesome....were only going to clean up the mold in the interior and wash the exterior.....no engine cleaning except blow off with air hose.....we want to show the car as found in the barn, with only new tires, hoses, and brakes, changed.... we have gone through old Blu end to end looking for any rust or rust repairs.... it's unbelievable that it's completely rust free and has been in this area since new.....bought new at Carl Beasley Ford in York P.A. Oct 6, 1969,....cost new was $3,200 base....with the options this thing sold for $4,400.... with that being said the options cost was 1/3rd the price of the car back then.....

My friends died in a Blue 428 cobra jet back around 1975 racing the county line of St. Charles Mo. they hit two strapped telephone poles off the end of a turn they never though was at that point in the road. The front bumper touched the rear bumper after the car slapped the pole directly dead center of the drivers door. The CB handle Blue Max was done! Gary Sternemin, David Doush lost their life, David Brucker survived 3 months in a coma, he was in a wheel chair after that, he owed an Orange Boss 429 at the time.

I know how it feels to be attached to a car. I had a 1973 Mach 1 Q code in my early 20s got stupid and wrecked it. I always wanted to replace it because I loved the way it drove. I finally replaced it with a 1973 H code when I was 61. She’s sitting in my garage now in really good shape no rust and runs great. I take her out on really nice days. She’s totally original and hasn’t been molested in any way still has the original am radio. If something breaks I fix it by factory standards. It’s no where near as fast as the newer mustangs but It’s fast enough for me. I really love those Mach 1s.

I was 22 years old and owned a 1970 Grande with 351 Weiland 2 bbl.. It is the best and funnest car I have driven. I remember that the breaking was for an older car fantastic. Also without another way to put it it had the sexiest interior, that dash and instrument panel. Wow. I ended up selling it to a 16 year old kid who did not have a drivers license. His mother had to buy it for him...

When he was talking about noone knowing what was in the barn it brought back a memory.
In Victoria BC, on a road leading to a dump is barn.
Among other things, inside could be found: a 426 Hemi Charger with something like 1.6K miles on it. 2 454 Buemounts, a 464 Mounted Carlo, a 428 CJ Fairlane, I think a 396 Hemi just to mention a few. Think there was a Camero with a 472 Caddy motor. Sudden flash back on that one.

Back in the early 80s before the internet I was chasing Mustangs and found the exact same car in Campbell Calif. It was advertised in the local paper as an ex drag car that didn't run. When I showed up to inspect I couldn't believe my eyes. It was Dark Brown Metallic with ginger vinyl interior. The owner said it was the original engine less and intake and carb. It had been in a minor accident and the owner parked it. He removed the front drivers fender and grille and a bunch of other front end parts. We couldn't come to an agreement on a price that day. So I left it there. Worst decision on my part as they escalated in price just a few years later.

I was thinking same thing. I was volunteer camera man for our vocal PBS station. Absolutely first thing your taught is don't zoom in and out on people while they are talking. Second rule is to leave about 25% Headroom at top of the video frame. I was in 8th grade and my buddies mom was answering phone lines during fund raiser. There was bad snow storm and only few people showed up to work. 3 cameras and only one camera man. They grabbed me and my friend Wayne and stuck us behind the camera with about 5 minutes of instructions.

I wish I could have kept my first car a 79 Mustang Indy Pace Car 5.0 4 speed. It had been raced in the SCCA Showroom Stock Class A series at Brainerd and another track in Wisconsin in 80 and 81. The 2nd owner was young and he probably abused it too. I was the 3rd owner, and I was 20 and I surely wasn’t going to baby it. It weighed right at 3,000 pounds so it was a bit lighter than the new Mustangs. I was working minimum wage jobs and trying to keep up with the repairs of it’s hard life was too much for my thin wallet so it was sold to some collectors in Nebraska. That car turned heads everywhere it went. I was working minimum wage and drove around looking like I was rich.

    • @Mr.Death101
      @Mr.Death101 2 роки тому +2

I disagree, he wants to get all the history and everything about the vehicle and the people that got to drive it and he's legitimately interested in saving that history and he genuinely cares about the people and the vehicle it's like a symbiotic relationship. And people don't have to answer questions if they don't want to so that's my opinion. Nobody else is doing this right now and keeping these historic cars and their histories in this in-depth way. If I own one of these cars and I got to see these videos 50 years down the line that would be awesome and I'm sure his family or whoever's family he's doing a video on appreciate it too.

Nice car. But they did build the 428 SCJ with the optional C6 automatic.
How do I know? I have one.
I have a 69 Mach 1 428 SCJ Ramair C6 auto with the W code 4.30:1. Had it 20 years and it's part of the family
The SCJ cars never had AC but all other options were available. My 69 has 4.30:1, ramair, power disc brakes, power steering, power vent dash, am radio, a C6 auto but it strangely did not have a fold down seat. .

It's a bit like a 32 Coupe my Dad bought for my mum as a second car. It had done 7000 miles .The 1st owner was bit eccentric, He had bought the car in the midst of the great depression and treasured it. He only drove it on fine days and it had never been driven at night or in the rain. if it rained when was out,he would stop and park the car ,pull a tarp over the car and wait. When he died ,my Dad bought the car but my mum felt it was too good to simply use as a second car and it was carefully driven a few miles over the next decade ,only clocking up a further 7000 miles. But eventually it was in the way and a dealer kept pestering Dad to sell it,claiming that he was going to cherish the car and so on. mostly lies as it turned out as he had another buyer lined up who had heard of the car and wanted it. A few weeks ago, a guy who owns it today emailed me and asked if i wanted to buy it back . His words were, "I understand your families attachment to this car so I am asking a pretty penny,(top dollar) for it ". : Needless to say i am not even go to bother replying.Plus, I am too old now to bother with chasing down a car .But I understand how the seller of this Mustang feels, If he wanted to get big money he could have put it through the usual BJ auctions and it would have sold for an insane price. But this time,he has found a buyer who is a fan of the breed and knows a special car when he sees it and is more interested in being it's custodian than making a few grand by flipping it. To a seller of something like this, whether it's a car or a silver teapot, money has little to do with the deal, it's about the object and where it's going to. (His farm tells me that money is the least of his concerns ).

They absolutely DID make Drag Pack Mach 1's with an automatic. I owned one back in the day. 0F05R... No A/C, no P/S, C6 automatic, 3.91 Traction-Lok w/31-spline axles.

I appreciate an owner that doesn’t hold out for a few extra dollars and let’s the car go to someone who appreciates it as much as the owner.

I had a 1969 Mach-1 R-code Drag Pac 428 ,4-speed ,3-91 ratio. It is sitting in a barn rust free with a 250 6-cyl,3-speed ,8in rearend. I used the drive line in three other cars including my 1970 Ranchero GT and 1973 Mustang Grande. The trans and rear end are currentely in a Shelby Cobra Replica. I have had a chance to buy the body back, have found another 69 ,428 but have not been able to find another trans or 31spline rearend.

I restore old mercedes for people, but in the past i ran a T bucket with an early hemi. The trans was Ford C4 (!) so i decided that i needed something that would handle the torque and while looking in the local small ads paper i found a guy selling a top loader. I bought it for $350 as itr was the bullnose type, just what i needed . The internet was still a new place then So It was fortunate that i found the top loader website where i could check the numbers .it was a drag pak close ratio box ,but the rear cone was a Ford nascar part...(!) the speedo drive was in the wrong spot so again the internet saved me,when i found a guy in the US who had the correct rear housing I Needed and needed a nascar housing for his race car resto !. We did a swap.I mailed him my part and he sent his by mail... ha ha .I sold off the bucket in parts to pay a lawyer and the trans got sold on Ebay for $1200 .In Queensland Australia is a guy sitting on a trans just made for your car!. ( i have no idea who it was as this was,as it was at least 10 years ago,...a hunt on Mustang Forums might find him though. )

I sold my drag-pac Top loader for $450 in 1996 when i was going thrue a divorce, i sold the 31 spline drag-pac 9- inch rear for $250. They had over 350,000 miles on them when i sold them. The only parts i replaced was the large input shaft barring on 1988. They are very tough parts to say the least.

Gilbert Nowak You know what they say about hindsight being 20/20,I'd be kicking myself in the ass for parting out a extremely high $ car like that!!!,but that's how it goes sometimes! I know, speaking from personall experience!!!!!!

I had a 1969 Mach-1 R-code Drag Pac 428 ,4-speed ,3-91 ratio as well in 1976 and oddly enuff the fellow i sold it to took out the trans and motor and put in a 6 banger ..if you run across a gulfstream blue 69 with a 70 front end and a 6 banger it could be the one i had ...

I think there is a mistake on a comment. You could order a 70 mustang with a "W" code rear end (4:30) and a automatic trans. You did not have to get the 4 speed. Great car, great find. From a fellow ford lover.

Very nice post. I have a mustang it's code is 5f09C that translates to a 1965 mustang fast back made near the end of the first week of November 1964

That would be a lottery car. It's perfect. Restored, of course. A 68 Fastback with a 427 SOHC would be the other have to have.

Nice to see the "shaker" in that one still shot, thought what a shame it was not there when they pulled the cover off. Be worth opening up the diff cover and doing some math to be sure of that ratio. Thank you for sharing this... all the best to you and yours for 2018 !

    • @jimmieroan9881
      @jimmieroan9881 6 років тому +1

it will have a code stamped somewhere on the housing, plus you can just mark the driveshaft and the brake drum or axle and count the turns to make one revolution. old school, didn't hear them say if it was locking or not, if i'm not mistaken some of the factory ford hot rods had the good locking rear end, if forget the name now, getting old. but it ratcheted instead of having clutches and springs, ahhh, detroit locker i think, or fords version.

He either died of a heart attack or had something, like cancer, but in anycase god bless him and i hope, no i know he sent them there to look at that car for sure, i also believe in divine intervention 100%, these are the real people in small towns who love people and are not on i pads or on their phones to talk via text, they come out to your place and talk face to face, which is a art in itself if your honest and talk straight from the heart, you will not last in this current fast paced world at all, your lost and people then think your stupid or something is wrong with you, fuk them all be yourself and dont let anyone try to change who you are inside and how you feel or how you want to talk to other people, respect is to be earned not given away like some toy?

Well and here I was thinking that the ONLY Super Cobra Jet's were 429's offered in 1971 not 70. In 1971 they did have automatics. Buddy had one 429 super cobra jet with ram air and drag pack. who knew that his party mobile was going to end up being worth so much money
