I was raised in Tabor City, NC (40 miles northwest of Myrtle Beach, SC); population less than 2,000. There was an older guy who use to ride around selling already boiled peanuts from his bicycle for $.50 (1960's) a bag. They were great. I bet he was one of the better-to--do people in Tabor.
Living in Louisiana and being cajun, we add some liquid crab boil in the water for a spicy kick
Sounds tasty!
Roll Tide
Oh! That is the best!!
This is exactly what I’m going to do! Jeff Baron did it as well in his boiled peanuts video.
@@dwaynekoblitz6032I gotcha here,Jeff Barron fan lol.
I can feel the warm southern hospitality in your voice. God bless you for sharing; this is medicine for a stressed soul.
So glad I found your video. I can't find boiled peanuts anywhere in Memphis, boiled peanuts is a Georgia delicacy
They are simple to make and so tasty to eat! I hope you’ll get to enjoy some soon!
Make it
They sell them everywhere in NY lol
I remember my first experience as a little girl buying boiled peanuts off the side of a dirt road in Louisiana with my family. I will forever love boiled peanuts ❤
Thank you, Phyllis! I'm from Connecticut and when I tell people about boiled peanuts, they just laugh at me. I am so happy you shared this recipe. Now I can enjoy them all the way up here in the northeast! 💗
Now you can have them all year round too! Enjoy!😋
From CT too…. We discovered boiled peanuts during our trips to SC…. They are great any time, but for us there is no beach day without a bag of boiled peanuts. Just ordered a bag of dry Virginia peanuts, will make them for tomorrow!
Awesome!!! I love boiled peanuts but never thought about a crock pot. You have made my day!!
I came from Michigan to Florida and was quickly turned on to boiled peanuts. That was 35 years ago and now I am in the White Mountains of Arizona. Nope, dont have them here so once things open up back to socialization up here, I'll be turning people here on to boiled peanuts! Very good with cajun seasoning!!
Thank you so very much Phyllis!!! I looooove boiled peanuts and u just made my life so much better!! I'm born n raised in NC and you sound like every woman in my family basicly. Southern women are the best!! Thank you very much for the recipe!!
Thank You! We have been out of peanuts and my hubby shopped for me last week and came home with a 5 pound bag. I got the hint!!🥜🥜🥜
I remember eating boiled peanuts at my grandparents house in Bishopville SC in the 60's and 70's. My sisters and I loved them. My children still eat them today. I was cooking some today so I searched for this video to make sure I was doing them right. Such good memories.
I’ll be making these. Love using the crock pot! Thank you for sharing. 👏🏽🤗
i looove boiled peanuts..my family is from Myrtle beach and Columbia so we're huge SC fans
Saint Chadam we might be related. I grew up in Horry County!
Brought back loving memories: making some this weekend!👍🏾
Wanda Jackson those memories just warm my heart too!
👍
Caviare of the South! That's hilarious. Can you believe that some people don't like these? I found a salvage store that has them for $2 in 1lb bags salted that I'm going to try to boil with. Maybe I'll throw in some habeneros. Thank you for this video!
kevindc18181818 you might need to cut back on the amount of salt if your peanuts are already salted. I usually find raw unsalted peanuts. Let me know how they turn out!
Remember our childhood days , when my grandmother would grow peanuts in her farm and we get to eat lot of boiled peanuts.
Aren’t those just the most precious memories of childhood? I spent lots of time with my Grandma.🥜🥜🥜
i know Im pretty off topic but does anybody know of a good site to watch newly released movies online ?

You're so nice. Thank you! Just moved to Georgia from Maryland in 2022 and I want to try these. I haven't seen them anywhere local to where I am, but I work from home a lot and don't get out much, lol!
Thanks for all the info and this recipe for a small batch !
Thank y’all for the recipe!! Now I can enjoy my favorite southern caviar in the north!! I’ve been homesick!!
Hope this cures your homesickness! Sending you a hug!🤗
Thank you so much for your recipe. I never thought to use my crockpot. Will definitely make some this weekend.
I am in South Carolina and our Family grew peanuts as well.. I always add hot pepper flakes and a couple of slices of Fatback.. plus lots of salt and Cajun spices.. I like the spicy ones.. love your voice.. and will be checking out more on your channel
Being a NC girl turned SC girl, I am loving you and your video! My Uncle Earl was one of the largest peanut/tobacco/hawg farmers in NC…so I grew up with such an appreciation for southern caviar! Thank you for this recipe…I cannot wait to try it! Gonna make some for Thanksgiving! My 80 yr old daddy loved boiled peanuts now like he used to like blanched ones in his Coca-Cola! ♥️
I live about 20 minutes from Clemson, so Go, Tigers!!! (But I’ll always be a Wolfpack fan at heart!)
hello heltsley5, i dont like tigers so i think this offended me and im gonna report you to the goverment, thank you and goodbye. From NordicLaws AS.
I'm so happy to see you're uploading!! My family used to go to the flea market in Florence on the weekends and a vendor there always had the best, fresh, still warm boiled peanuts. I always looked forward to it.
Amocoru now you can make your own anytime of the year!
WAIT WAS IT A LADY NAMED SANDY OR A MAN NAMED SAM???? I WENT TO THE SAME FLEA MARKET AS A LITTLE GIRL
I want this woman to read me a book. she has that wonderful southern accent, very clear and flowing for a northerner like me.
Thank You so much! I do my best!
Love boiled peanuts,Will try this.Thanks
sandra wylie thank you for taking the time to watch!
I haven't had bold peanut in many years and I miss them terribly!!! One day I will get back to the South and have some.
Chris Paasch you don’t have to wait any longer. Find you some peanuts online and cook up a batch in your crockpot! I promise it works!
Great job!
Go head on Mrs. Phyllis! Really enjoyed this video and learned what I needed to know! Also I'm stealing that phrase "I ya lookin, you ain't cookin" 💯😎
Thanks Mrs. Phyllis!
You are so very welcome!🥜🥜🥜
I screamed with joy when she said she was from SC
Great instruction. I love peanuts but I have never had them this way since I am born and raised in Maryland. I've got to give these a try!
I just wanted to leave a quick comment and say thank you so much!! Boiled peanuts have been one of my absolute favorite snacks for quite some time now. Especially on the low-carb diet that I'm on. I've been thinking about trying to make my own for at least a few months, and this is the quickest and easiest way that I've found to do that!! I'm definitely going to do some of my own soon!!
Also I couldn't help but notice that y'all are Clemson fans! Coincidentally I'm actually from the same little town as y'all's star running back Travis Etienne!! We're so proud of that guy putting Jennings on the map!!
Jeff Miller first of all, we love Travis! From the first time my hubby saw him play football, he has been one of his biggest fans! Hope you have had time to try the peanuts by now!
And...Go Tigers!🐅🐅🐅
@@sissyjollie after so long of wanting to try making some peanuts this way. I finally just bought a crockpot big enough to do it!😁 I'm about to go put some peanuts in it right now!!
and hey if you loved travis, be on the lookout for his little brother trevor!! Hes just as good, if not better than travis. And rumor has it around here that hes thinking about committing to Clemson as well!! Can't wait to see where travis is drafted as well! We couldn't be prouder, hes making our little town famous!😆
Travis will forever be a Clemson legend!! I was incredibly excited when we flipped him. Excited to watch his first season in Jacksonville this year after being injured last season
Godbless you for sharing this video I just loved it.
Jason Chmiel thank you so very much! That makes me happy!😄
Cooked my Peanuts over night on low. They came out sooooo good! I changed my salt though to Pickling and Canning salt. It was my best tasting peanuts to date.
I started doing that when we have early games this year.
thank you from south carolina
New subscriber here. Southern Carolina girl loving my kitchen late in life. Looking forward to checking out your channel. My latest interest is making my own pasta in my KitchenAid. Baking is my next love. Glad to be here.
Boiled peanuts. ...what is there not to love!?? Have to try this so will stop by the farmers market for the peanuts and give this a try! Thanks for demonstrating your method and for the video!!
Pat C., you are so very welcome! You may even find green peanuts at this time of year, which don’t take nearly as long to cook! I rarely find green peanuts which is why I learned to cook dry peanuts.🥜
@@sissyjollie I wanted to pop back in and let you know the boiled peanuts turned out very, very good! Some of the best we've had and so easy! Am making another batch tonight to add to the tail-gating menu for the Saturday games. I'll keep checking the farmer's market for green peanuts. Thanks again for demonstrating your method and for the video!!
Omg so glad I found this. Being born and raised in ga abs moving to Cali is depriving 😅
Great video. Thanks.
THANKS, FROM SOUTH CAROLINA.
THE BOZO you are so welcome!🥜🥜🥜

She may be the sweetest lady on UA-cam :) Thanks for the recipe
I was wondering if they keep just in case you make too many, but apparently that isn't a problem. Haha. Watching this is making me hungry!
Great video!!
Roddenberrys in Cairo Georgia had a peanut processin plant up until early 1990s. Best peanuts in the world. different variations. My pops from dwn there
Awesome video. Had a bag of hot peanuts from tractor supply and was thinking about tryin this. Checking in from Blacksburg SC. Subscribed :)
Alex C thanks for the heads up on finding peanuts at Tractor Supply! Hope you enjoyed them!🥜🥜🥜
Thank you! Very easy
Easy and Tasty is always the goal!🥜🥜🥜
Watching this in my Clemson shirt! Go tigers love the recipe!!
Yummies.. I love them
SAMANTHABABE I hope by now you’ve made a crockpot or two! One of my favorite snacks!🥜🥜🥜
I grew up eating boiled peanuts (Valencia) in SE Alabama too. Ours were always regular…not the more popular today Cajun ones. The best were always sold either on the side of the road on the way to PCB, FL or at football games. I now live in WA State and the only place I can find raw green peanuts is at CBS Nuts here. I make mine either in the crockpot or Instant Pot. I am one of these that prefer the softer and saltier the better! Oh, and we cracked them in our mouths with our teeth. Thanks for sharing your video…WAR EAGLE!
I'm from Dothan Alabama..... Peanut capital of the world.... Sick of peanuts😂.... ROLL TIDE. We are the GOAT 🐐 COLLEGE FOOTBALL 🏈........ Jalen waddle is my baby brother..... Small world
When I clicked on this I said to myself if this isn't an older white lady named Phyllis or an older black woman names Wanda I ain't watchin
Coleman Jeter you gave my hubby and I a BIG laugh!
😂
😂🤣😂🤣🤣
🤣🤣🤣🤣... Hilarious
Hahaha!!!
I'm going to make my brother these, he LOVES boiled peanuts. We grew up in Clemson and I don't know if you are from there or just love the Tigers. I am a HUGE Tiger fan. Enjoyed your video. Thanks.
Maria Fernandez I’m sure your brother is going to be happy! We lived in Clemson in 1980 when we first got married and my hubby still had one semester of college left. We later returned for him to teach ROTC and later, while living in Atlanta, he drove back and forth working on his doctorate while serving in the Army. We’ve spent lots of time there over the years and we love the Tigers! 🐯🐯🐯
Hey 👋🏿 ok ok o km money o
Never, ever heard of boiled peanuts. I roast a bag of peanuts every Sunday. It's a tradition in my country that we finish off the Sunday meal with roasted peanuts in their shells. Will give these a try for a change, although, if I understood correctly, these are eaten as a snack between meals or in front of tv.
A friend of my husband make these and they're good!!!!
They are delicious and so simple to make!🥜🥜🥜
I miss eating boiled peanuts. I’m from the low country (Savannah). I live in the city now and can’t find them anywhere!
I love this!!! 1 cock pot would be a teaser for my family. My dad used to cook them outside on the fire in a "witch's Pot" I used to call it lol
BTW we are from Charleston , SC :)
Mike Mullins my Mom would cook them in her big canning pot and we would eat them until our bellies were about to pop! Such fun memories!🥜🥜🥜
We have the exact same crock pot. Works as good as any. I’ve made a lot of food in it over the years. Boiled peanuts are next.
Dwayne Koblitz hope your peanuts were delicious! My crock pot has cooked many pounds of peanuts the past few years!
Thank you!
Love me some boiled peanuts. I make them the same way my Daddy did - 5 lbs at a time in a huge stockpot on the stove. The do make the house smell amazing. Love your serving dish, btw. Go Tigers!
It would take us a while to eat 5 lbs! We do love our Tigers and I’m happy that you do too!🐯🏈🐯
one of the last pictures i have of my dad is him standing by the stove with a huge pot on it, cooking boiled peanuts. its a wonderful memory of growing up.
🥰
Great video. Thank you. I’m gonna go look and see if you’ve done a video on chicken bog. My dad was from Mullins 😊
Jolly Mon I haven’t done one on Chicken Bog, but perhaps I should! My family loves it! I know exactly where Mullins is. I used to take my Mom over there to eat at Webster Manor and the Dry Dock!
First time in Georgia had boiled peanuts omg so good
Deric Rood eating warm peanuts and driving through the countryside is so comforting to the soul!🥜🥜🥜
@@sissyjollie I used your recipe and it was fantastic thank you so much
So happy you liked them and the simplicity! Now you can have them any time you like!
Love your apron!! GO TIGERS!
Great recipe. I added 2 tbls of Slap Ya Momma seasoning. Touch of Cajun spice. Not too hot. Just right.
I just saw that at my grocery store last week!
Love all the Clemson swag...
It has been much easier to find the last few years!🐯🏈🐯🏈🐯
Can't wait to make some, first n last time I had these was back when I went down to visit my dad n step mom in Albany G.A. back in 1987,most all the stores down there sold these done in a little brown paper bag by the cold beer if I'm remembering correctly, thanks for sharing how to make them....
joe 9990 t those stores still sell them! Hope you will enjoy these as much as your memories!🥜🥜🥜
Super!!!
Love your Clemson stuff! Go tigers!
Christy Rouse Thanks!🐯🧡🐯
Just made my first batch. Used some pickling spice and chili powder. Wondering why it took me so long to try this. So good.
Steve Kunde happy to have inspired you!
Add a cup of white vinegar too.....it really gives them a unique flavor.
Danielle Le'mond thanks for the suggestion.
New to your channel.Always wanted to know how to boil peanuts. Heard of them but I’ve never had them. You cannot find them here in Oklahoma. Looking forward to trying them🤗
Oh I just love this sweet lady 💕
I love boiled peanuts
We do too! We made a batch today and they were so good!🥜🥜🥜
Love those boiled peanut during U of A football! Roll Tide!
K.D. Glover boiled peanuts are a universal snack!! They are great for any football game!
@@sissyjollie I could not agree more - I didn't say they weren't. I was born and raised University of Alabama. Always have been and always will.
Roll Tide!
That is the first time I have seen only salt used. When I lived in southern Louisiana, they had Tabasco peppers, garlic, etc in them, too. Delicious either way.
For me, only salt is the way to go.
My Opa lives in the south and these are always on stands on the side of the road down there
Yummy
Beautiful voice.
Spence Meyers you’re making me blush, but thank you 😊
Thanks for the video. GO TIGERS!
Boiled peanuts and football are made for each other!🥜🏈🥜🏈🥜
It's perfect except for I add some vinegar cause then you get an extra kick of tangy flavor. You should also soak and rinse them several times cause some still have alot of dirt on them.
👍🏼
OK the main requirement for this recipe had to be a southern accent so she passes. I love that she puts a general amount of peanuts but then a specific amount of water. I love it that she wants it to go faster but puts it in the crockpot. I love that the crockpot doesn’t really work. I seriously love this recipe. It’s boiling a peanut.
I live in PA now and miss my boiled peanut. Where can I get a bag of peanuts like that? Thanks for bring back the memories!
Eddie Mitchell, Bertie County Peanuts here in NC sells them online. I also found them on Amazon. The ones I buy are Owen Brothers out of Virginia because they are available at my local store.
Look up Hardy Farms Peanuts 🥜
Thanks, I just did! It won’t be long before you’re eating boiled peanuts 🥜
Where in SC? Greenville here.
Tracey Cancio Conway!
I'm making these today! I noticed the time only lapsed about 10 minutes on the clock behind you for the 8 hours. :)
I like to make them with about 1/3 the salt. I cant eat the gas station bolt pnuts anymore. Sometimes adding pepper and other spices are nice. I'll do them in pressure cooker sometimes (instantpot) but take her ez or will overcook. Hard to find raw peanuts out west. This is key: green peanuts! I bet the one's you used to dig out of the ground were even better!!!!!
All in
That crock pot is HUGE!
pavelow235 my $25 special from Amazon! It works great too!🥜🥜🥜
Crock Pot is the easiest way to make them. I usually use 2-3 beers (added flavor), salt and water when cooking. Put them on the night prior and they'll be money for game day!
Wait what beer? You sir are a genius!!
Terry Hildebrand We like to drink the beer !🍻🍻🍻
I love boiled peanuts 🥜 when eating them I just put them in my mouth and crack the shell and eat away. Good for long road trips
Where I can get the same bag of peanuts that you are using? what brand is it?
Can I add cajun seasoning to this? 2 TBS of salt and cajun seasoning? I like mine spicey. Thank you for sharing this video
Great video. Go Tigers!!!😅
Hubby and I love boiled peanuts! We used to get them at the Ladson SC flea market, until I witnessed the woman lick her fingers to undo the bag she was going to put the peanuts in!! I know that doesn't bother some people but it completely sickens me. I showed him this and God willing we will have some this weekend!
Catrina Moncrief how did they turn out? Hope they were just what you were looking for!
I know you're a proper Southern lady and maybe other people don't eat them like this, but I just put the whole, unopened boiled peanut in my mouth and suck and drink all the salty juice out and then crack it open in my mouth and separate it from the shell and eat it that way and then spit out the shell, just like eating sunflower seeds!
If you can't do that, you can always just barely crack the shell length wise, pull it out of your mouth, eat the peanut and then throw away the shell!
🤤
So excited to try these! Where did you find your Clemson dish?
Catrina Moncrief my hubby found it in a thrift store in his hometown that sells new stuff as well as used.
CAROLINA GIRLS....best in the world. Go Tigers
I’m thinking about doing this and adding some garlic, chili powder or cayenne pepper.
Bradley Swanson feel free to add anything you like. That’s the beauty of recipes- use the basics and give it your own flair!
Taco seasoning
Phyllis, where in SC did you grow up??? Mom’s side of the family are from Greenville. (My grandfather’s farm is now the Haywood Mall) My childhood was spent in Taylors.
Been a Clempson (how my family pronounces the school’s name) all my life.
Been eating boiled peanuts all my life, just never made them before: Thanks for the recipe. Giving it a try in the morning. Happy Holidays!
Have you made them in a instapot?
Those look great I'm thinking about making some Im living up north and I can't buy them up here 😭 (homemade is always better anyhow)
Phyllis...if I wanted to add a little kick to them, what type of Cajun seasoning would you add?
Marsha Young I like Tony Cachere’s Cajun Seasoning, but I actually grow some hot peppers, dry them and throw them in whole to add a little spice.🥜🌶🥜
