I moved here from rural IL 35 years ago and I still can't believe I found a city that so suits me and my personality. For sure it's not for everyone, but when I have friends and family visit they all say the same thing. "This is nothing like I thought it would be." I have photos on my phone of the Silver Lake hills that look like they were taken in the south of France. I love it.
Some great films set in Cali that you may like. Inherent Vice (2014) - 70s, trippy, hippie and fun Chinatown (1974) - 60s, before counter culture, great mystery film about drought in cali Mulholland Drive (2001) - You'll love the cinematography here, so many great shots of LA. Once upon a time in Hollywood (2019) - You already know about this, I'm sure
Are you on the green card list, do you want to move there? Have you seen the hitchhiking videos by Mike Okay, could you imagine doing something like that?
only way I could see myself living there is if I've got a decent income coming in. i'd probably never go again without a few quid in my pocket. It just makes it more fun with at least a couple bucks to spend. This time I want to visit and stay in a decent hotel and hire a decent sports car. But who knows what the future holds :)
@@crookedsmilegang If you want it desperately there are ways of making it work, but if you want to just move there and live like a millionaire then you need the millions first. Else you could switch to a job here that would enable easier transition. E.g. Become a UK cop, then switch to US as soon as you can - though it’s much more dangerous there for obvious reason (pretty well paid though). Some other ideas are nursing, roofers, solar and wind turbine workers.
@@crookedsmilegang I would think police would be your easiest route, due to security background and general easy entry. Although being a cop tends to change ppl so you might not be smiling after a couple of yrs. Become a UK cop (don’t tell them about the bus depots), move to the US in some small town and enjoy a peaceful life. Not so sure about LA though, doubt it would be very peaceful as a cop there
Where's your favourite place in California let us know!

@@Ironbuket I've thought about a lot of avenues to get there, all quite long shots but worth it.
