True Story: I was at a Laker game in the 80's, I was probably 11 or 12. If you remember the Forum it had long aisles. I was walk Ing down and recognized him. I asked for his autograph and he declined very respectfully, but asked me to write my name and address on a napkin and he would send me something. Being that young i never expected him to send me anything, i was just grateful that i got a chance to meet him. Sure enough maybe a month later, i received an autographed picture of him. It said ; " Mark smile your cool heart out!! Have a great life, and it was great meeting you!" Needless to say that made my year, and yes of course i still have the picture and will always treasure it. Not too many A list celebs would've done that(mingle with the common folk) As far as I'm concerned he's the best and always will be.

I met Henry Winkler when he was staying in Orlando filming the Waterboy. He would come into the Sub shop I was working at everyday and get his slice of Pizza while waiting for his order. He was the nicest and kindest person I have ever met and we even took a picture together.

In 1991, a couple of friends and I went to see the Disney movie, Beauty and the Beast, at the theaters next to Universal Studios Hollywood. We’re sitting there waiting for the previews to start and we see Henry Winkler coming down the isle with a couple of kids (We all assumed that those were his kids) on their way to their seats. Every one who was seated started whispering. One guy sitting in the back yelled out “HEY!” doing his best Fonzie impression. I just remember going 🤦🏻♀️ because I’d read that while Mr. Winkler was thankful to be able play the Fonz, he was afraid of being typecast because of that role.

Its funny, I watched Happy Days when I was about 7-10 and only knew Henry as the Fonze and I never saw him again until he was in The Waterboy. In Happy Days he was this cool guy with no fear and seeing him in The Waterboy, I didn't know what to think, as he was completely opposite to Fonzy. For some reason I thought he would be more like Fonzy in real life then he was in The Waterboy, but he seems more like The Waterboy character in real life and just seems like a real nice genuine person to.
I love Henry. I grew up on al of those late 70s-early 80s shows. He seems like he would treat the random Joe as if they were the most important person he's met that day.
I absolutely love MacGyver and I'll watch the reruns every time I run into them. I am so grateful that he went on to do things after Happy Days and he came up with that show.

I remember Richard Dean waltzing exhausted onto set. Doing much the same. Shaking hands and being genuine. It was his birthday and he literally flopped exhausted on the floor. Then he rose and lovingly walked over to a couple older women and said to the director.... "make sure these two get on camera". I thought they were going to melt LOL. Thank you Mr Winkler for your productions and those you've lifted up........ the film industry needs many more of your kind. I think that Anson Williams father in law was a General in the Army if I am remembering it correctly. Anyway my husband at the time was Henry Winkler’s body guard while on the base. Long story short I got to meet all of the cast and they were all so very nice. Got a lot of pictures.

In mid 70's I was in middle school, and on Halloween there must have been about 40 little "Fonzis" in attendance. What a day! Even the teachers got a big kick out of it.
He must have mellowed in his older age. He visited a childrens hospital in the late 70s. My father was working there at the time and said he was a jerk to talk to,pretty full of himself. I was a child at the time and overheard the conversation my father had with my mother. I've never been a fan since then.
Stallone likes to say he never sold the screenplay to the first "Rocky" movie despite being broke, but that is not the whole story. He sold it, then regretted it, and wanted it back. He couldn't get it back. Henry Winkler used his clout as the biggest TV star of the day to get it back; he met with the buyer and convinced him to sell it back to Sly. That's how the movie Rocky was made! Thanks to Henry.
Henry is very talented and I wish typecasting hadn't interfered with him doing diverse other acting roles. I think I'd love to see him play any character at all.

I loved Happy Days when it was centered around Richie and Potsie and it was a single-camera sitcom. Then, they made it about the Fonz and the studio audience screaming to the top of its lungs every time the Fonz showed up. Once they started doing that, the show tanked.
