Just did this fix on a 5.7. Exact same process and part if anyone was wondering. Thank you for the video and info!
I couldn’t get the tee part to fit on my hoses
@@heavenlycass7568 it's a tight squeeze
thanksss
The exact info i needed. Doing my 5.7 this wknd. Thanks bro
@@johnjohnson1078 I haven’t do mines today.
Great repair! In addition, there is no need to cut the hoses. Just clip the plastic ring clamps with side cutters and they pop right off. There are holes on the ring clamps for this purpose.
I wish i knew this 15 mins ago😂😀
I just did this repair and split that clamp as suggested, that worked very well. Note, that are bits of sleeving inside the hose that needs to be cleaned out. I also was unable to find the 1" x 1" x 1/2" T-Fitting at Lowes, (1 x 1 x 3/4 and a 3/4 to 1/2 reducer). Great video and suggestions all around. Thanks much
A dealership mechanic finding a permanent fix for a design issue. That is less expensive than just replacing it with a OE part. That's unheard of and why David has always been my go to guy for Mopar!
Part #'s, torque specs, simple instruction and tools needed for the job.
Think im gonna change mine out just to keep it from failing at the worst possible time. Thanks again David!
I just wanna say thank you first for this video today I was the guy stranded on the side of the road bc of Tht plastic pipe burst exactly where it’s shown in the video I followed your steps and now my car is back running no check engine light no over heating god bless u bro save me some money ✊🏽
Literally just happened to me 2 hours ago. I can’t find that 1x1x1/2 at Lowe’s anymore tho
@ I went to Home Depo they where my last resort bc he said he didn’t have luck in the vid so I tried em and found the 1x1x1/2 there
@ good looks thank you!
Last night this exact thing happened on the highway. To a T. I'm buying the t fitting now and I'm bout to replace it
This video couldn't have come at a better time! My husband's Chrysler had this exact issue and the T was completely disintegrated. After a few hours I had the new T and fresh coolant in for him to drive it to work the next day. Thanks so much!
Wait ..u did this for your husband?
I had the same T fail on my 2012 Lincoln Navigator. I used your advice and replaced the plastic connector with brass pex 1" T and some hose clamps. Awesome fix. Thank you. It saved me $100 plus. It only cost me $25 .
Had the same T start leaking on me in my 2015 DodgeCharger RT. This is great info. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and helping us all fix our rides and save money in the process with a permanent solution.
Currently having the same issue with my 11 Charger RT. Do you have a 5.7L ? At this point $10 sounds too good to be true, but i dont want to spend $100 for another plastic connector
@@jaquintonmoore4552 It was a perfect solution and quick fix with zero issues. Save yourself 90 bucks.
This just happened to me 2 days ago on my ‘11 Charger RT.. glad I found this video
Do it work my challenger doin the same
I watched your video last week and followed your instructions and ordered the parts and fixed my 2011 dodge challenger rt. Thx alot for the video
Just happened to my 2012 Charger. I was dreading waiting on the part to come in. Glad I saw this! Got all the parts about to replace it now.
I did this to my 300 4 years ago. Still running strong! Preciate all the 3.6 P vids.
I have this same hose connector problem on my 5.7 The hoses on my hemi are the exact same size and are in the same location. I have the PPV charger so the truck hemi may be different sizes or in a different location. Thanks for posting this video. You have saved me $90 in parts and probably $500 in labor by me fixing it myself.
Your repair worked fine on a v8 correct
Wow. Your a life saver. My T fitting broke on my way home from work.I have a 2010 dodge challenger. Thank you for the detailed illustration and repair. I am very confident I can tackle this. Lowes here i come.
Now that was an awesome fix!!!!! She kicked right in and it was better than the other plastic one thank you for your mechanical genius!
Thanks for watching. Another one permanently fixed!
My problem was one of the “y” fitting, but this was the first video that had a good enough quality to show me MY problem (real similar). Unfortunately bleeding the line is kinda right where this project is above my comfort level. Thank you!
As a plumber I approve this repair fitting. Good job, I've done this as well on a few vehicles.
This totally worked on my 13 Challenger. Did exactly what he did and never had a problem again. Thx. Super inexpensive to do.
Thanks a lot I did this job yesterday on my 2015 Chrysler 300 8/7/2024/ That part from Amazon was just right!!!!!!!!/ Thanks again
Seriously one of the best auto repair videos I have ever seen
My friend has that exact issue and I will be able to help her because of this video
Thank you so much !!!!
Thanks Ray! Always happy to help
Can this apply to 2013 dodge challenger
Life saver. Literally just happened to my 300; Same yr, same engine. I'll just place my ❤️ here since I can't love the video like Facebook 😁
At the end of the month, someone at Lowe's is going to be wondering why sales of that fitting skyrocketed. 😂
Exactly and some plumber is going to be pissed when they are all gone! lol. Thanks for watching
Lmao
Can you tell me what size tee I would need from lowes I have 2010 Chrysler touring 2.7
I’m getting one now it just broke and the reason why I wasn’t getting heat on well was cracking already and feeding air inside
Thanks for the help brother, I couldn't find the part anywhere except the dealer and they tried charging me 200 bucks. Used your video to do it myself cost me 40 bucks.
Thank you David. Good job. Have a blessed and safe week to you and your family.
Just did this repair on a 2015 Dodge Journey Crossroad with a 2.4 L 4 Cyl engine. So appreciate your help!!!
I just had this blow out tonight and you helped fix it!! much appreciated
This it really the only video on YT I found they actually show each step and don’t skip to the end
Glad you liked and appreciate the comment
Your repair videos are always great, easy to follow and precise.
Thank you I just did this to my charger. Seem to be working pretty fine.
I did similar to my 2008 TaC 4 years back from copper tee and pipes..Just added rings from compression fittings to each end and soldered them.Cost me little bit more than PEX tee but way less and more reliable than factory or aftermarket junk.Your idea is also good.Patent it and you going to be a millionaire very soon,Chrysler is going to help you with it:).
Wish it was that easy to make money when it comes to patents. Dorman Products has been following the posts on this repair and looks like they are now working on a metal version so there will hopefully be something out by the end of the year.
@@MotorCityMechanic For sure. It's going to be exactly same as you used, just with Dorman name on it.
Thanks for this helpful video. Good to know plumber's fittings works.
To reliable, quick & cheaper fixes - Cheers!
I'v got a 2012 JKU and your videos have been more informative then anything else I'v seen.
Helpful video thanks. I was able to remove the outside plastic ring and remove the remainder of the broken tee from the hoses. I used a cutoff wheel to cut most of the way through the plastic ring and then just crushed the hose with channel locks - the plastic inside is brittle and will break up. Then you'll need a pick or something to pull the broken pieces out of the hose. This would be relevant if you needed a bit more hose to make the connection. Also, my local Lowe's didn't have the part but I was able to make up a decent replacement with other plumbing items.
Thx buddy nice video my nephew bought a Chrysler 300 because he absolutely just loves them. Now I’m able to know exactly what T to get. Thank you.
Appreciate all your videos
, you've saved me 100's of $'s and tons of headaches.
Thanks bro!!!!! Just fix my 2014 Chrysler 300....Lowes didn't have the right size so I went to Home Depot ‼🤝🏿
If one doesn’t, usually the other does. Thanks got watching my video and for taking my advice
This fitting is also on a 2003 ford Ranger!
Thanks for this video😅
You’re welcome and thanks for stopping by. Please make sure to subscribe
Wow. I have an 2016 dodge charger RT and the OEM part is $140.00 for the entire hose. Doing your method will be cheaper and last longer. Thank you.
Good video, I ordered a "T" just to keep in the box as a just in case. Thanks a lot. Danny J
Great idea just in case! Thanks for watching and make sure to subscribe
Any time I can see how to improve upon a part I'm interested. Add that I have this same engine in my 2019 300, you have my full attention. Plus I can save money with this hack...well I owe you big time! (ha ha)
Sitting in the garage going thru the same problem got the answer now
Dave
We had the same problem on our 2012 Dodge Charger hemi 5.7.
Did the same fixture and went with adapters. We've been running since then
Thankyou
David, thanks for the great hose DIY fix. You helped me with my challenger before.
Your welcome. Just did one of these yesterday. It was the customers second car that needed this same repair….common with older models as they get some age
This very late but for anyone with this issue now. You dont have to cut the hoses in that manner. Now if you dont have patience go for it. But if you do just cut the thick plastic pieces holding it together. Cut them all at a angle to keep from cutting the hoses. Once you pop the plastic pieces off. Inside of each hose will be a harder type of plastic right at the end you will need to break off, thats inside of the hose. I used a flat head screwdriver to do it. Once this happens the pieces you will need to tap out of the hose. You will have no damage done to the hose.
I wont take credit its only one guy on UA-cam I seen do it successfully. I watched about 4 other videos were they cut the hoses. I kinda got lucky and ran across his.
Brass or stainless metal barbed T's Work great i use them on massive lower ford radiator hoses all the time they break a crap ton
I'm thinking the engineer who designed the cooling lines use to work at Lowes!
Nice fix and tip Prof. David!
They must have sold their design to all the other brands as well. Thanks for checking the video out!
I saved video this for 2012 3.6.
Thanks David 👍👍👍
Great idea incase you ever need it. No hard in buying one of those metal tees and put it in the truck or glove box along with some clamps just in case. Thanks for watching Greg
I just have that problem. I’m going to do this now . Thanks !!! I did it it works for a Dodge Charger 2009 hemi 5.7 too I got in Home Depot I already got the other T that’s is under that one is 1 inch on the 3 sides .
Awsome fix. I just had that issue with my Chrysler 300C today. You rock!
hi bro i had recently changed the heart hose because of fault coolent cap. i had changed entire hose. if i had watched your video before i could have save some money 😁. thanks man it might help others
Thank you sir you are a true king for sharing your knowledge with the world
God bless you
Dodge Journey with 2.4. It has two of those plastic Ts. It happened two years ago. I did the same repair!
I'm doing this exact upgrade on a 2.4 Dodge Dart with a plastic tee on the upper hose that keeps leaking and I don't want to constantly drain coolant and dig around in that cramped space just to keep replacing one piece of planned obsolescence. For anyone else sick of dealing with this on their 2.0 & 2.4 Darts, the piece I'm using is a SharkBite UC08414128 1-1/2" x 1-1/2" x 1". I plan on doing this same upgrade to the two tees on the lower hose too when it inevitably starts giving me hassle but be warned, these brass tees are around $50 a piece. Buy once cry once certainly applies here.
just had this same problem on a 2015 dodge journey 2.4 L, I guess Chrysler loves these plastic parts that fail, I bout a new T connector online from Doorman and it also busted so I am going to try this metal fix from Lowes.
Worked like a charm on a 2016 Dodge Journey SE 2.4 liter. Part that took the longest was finding a Lowe’s with the part. Had to drive 45 min away
What size Tee did you use? I have the same year and purchase a few of them but I'm wondering what exact size you used
Great stuff David, as always. I have a 3rd Promaster now. Vans are at 588,000 570,000 and 320,000 miles. Except for the damn cam lobe problem, the pentastar is bulletproof.
Worked perfectly on my 2010 Charger!!!! Thank you so much!!!!
You saved me a trip to the mechanic thanks man!
Very informative and well-done video. 👍
Thank you for making and posting it.
Thanks, worked on my 2010 dodge charger 2.7 engine.
Great info, David. Thx! Not unique to Mopar. Did similar repair twice on a 94 Mustang GT I drove for 23 yrs and recently on my G35S. Used metal this time. My experience is they leak slow for a long time before full failure. Pressure testing reveals all.
Thank you Sir for ur video. I’ll be following ur steps tomorrow morning in my dodge charger
Love watching your videos as I just purchased a ram with the v6 . At first I started to freak out after seeing some of the issues mostly due to plastic parts and o rings used but your videos clearly show the work around and repairs needed , the only thing I would do differently on the coolant repair is during the last step when running the engine is to turn on the heater to allow any trapped air to work it’s way back into the coolant overflow tank and then top off the level thank you so
Much for posting such great content !
Great video from the #1 MOPAR dude. Ok your tied with Nick up in Canada. You do the new stuff....he does old MOPAR
Great video. That’s interesting, my 2006 Ford Explorer has the same plastic Coolant T. Ford would only sell the whole 3 hose assembly. I bought a Goodyear T from Pepboys and have been fine ever since. It pays to inspect lines and hoses. Great video I’m sure it will help a lot of people out.
Like #555 - can't understand how this has 1 thumbs down. This video was very helpful and straight to the point
Great job! I'm curious if a Sharkbite tee would've worked? Just slip it on and forget it! Not sure if it would've worked with hose wall diameter...but something to think about!
Hi, I'm guessing that the hose routing is different on my 200. I'm going to have a look tonight and mentally be ready for possible problems.
Damn, I forgot about this video. This just happened to me, went out on the freeway lol. Exactly that piece, I just put a plastic T in it. damn, I'll head to lowes and grab it and have it on stand by lol
Hello divide.you are doing great job
My car is chrysler srt8 6.1L 2010 when I start to do the same thing I faond out that the hoss are defrit size so can you till me if it's possible in that model and what is the writ size for? Thank you so much
This piece just broke on my dodge magnum thanks dude u rock
Also worked on my 2008 Ford expedition thanks 👍
Very good video. Replaced the plastic T on my challanger thanks
David good morning thank you for sharing your knowledge l am a follower of your videos l need to know where the MAF sensor is and how it is removed for cleaning thank you very much
Many thanks for keeping up with the channel. One thing about Chrysler’s is that they don’t use a MAF sensor so no cleaning needed expect on a few vehicles, not like other brands. Chrysler mainly likes to use a MAP sensor instead and measures vacuum and not air going thru the intake boot
David - wonderful solution there. Thanks very much for sharing.
Hi and Bless from Puerto Rico!🇵🇷
Nice job on the video with a nice tip. I have also done similar things in the past. That is the key, thinking outside the box to get things done in a good way.
This was an easy fix, but I noticed there still seems to be some leakage from the hose connections to the brass tee. I've clamped it, but perhaps there's a small lateral cut in the hose at the fitting that I'm not seeing? Can I use silicone tape to help staunch the leak?
Just helped some people in a parking lot with a huge coolant leak.. in this exact same location.
This would work for an Expedition or Navigator also, just need a 3/4ths T. Really like that copper T you used.
wish i saw this a week ago, would have saved me nearly $200!!
David, I always appreciate your objectivity and straight forward information delivery. Another great video. Thanks for taking time to post it.
I like it where did you het the moppar antifreeze?
My Lowe’s didn’t have it but Home Depot near me had the right tee
Want to show some love n support! Saved me over 200 bucks I'd be glad to send you something as a gift for the help!
Good one!! I hope the biz is busy!!!
Hey man love the video. Same part on the 5.7 charger!
I went to Lowe’s and bought and did it my car is running til today
Your videos are very educational. I have a Ram Promaster with the 3.6L V6. Can you tell me how the antifreeze works? Its been a while since I dealt with antifreeze. 1990s. What antifreeze do I use? use 100% or mix with water 50/50?. reservoir is low and need to top off.
Thanks bro. I'm having the same issue with my charger. God bless you. Easy fix haha
I just did this today! Works great! Thank you
going to do this on my 2013 charger rt thanks for the vid
Thank you dav...good point.👍👍👍👍👍👍
Your welcome and thanks for always watching these newer videos
I just did this on my 2015 sxt+ it worked
I Didn't have to cut the hose. I cut the factory clamps off with a small hacksaw. came off pretty easy
thank you budd! worked for me!🎉🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤❤
Awesome! Glad to see the video is still helping people
Great video David Brother 👍 👏 👌
Is that plastic T on the 2014 3.6 Durango? Great vid. 👍👍
Does the chemicals over time , mess up the metal ??
I have a 2015 chrysler 200 3.6 it doesn't over heat when sitting with the air on but it over heats when giving it high rpm pulls to get on the highway or heavy throttle
Hey thanks for the video I got a 2012 dodge journey and my Teabrook and I’ll order one online and they sent me up when it’s too small but I got to 2.3 L how big do you think the middle team needs to be
