Do you have a video for a 2013 Tacoma that came with the backup camera? And how to hook it up to the Sony XAV-AX3230 so it is no longer in the rearview mirror?
Have 2011 Tacoma with rear view camera but can I have one install that provides a wider view. Is that possible, the factory one view is not that great. Thanks and God Bless
Hi, If you wire the 2nd way where you can invoke the the camera from the head unit without being in reverse. How to you still enable automatic camera activation once in reverse? or do you loss that option if you accessory wire instead of reverse light power ?
I have been thinking about changing my tailgate handle camera and using a license plate camera similar to your install on my 2015 Tacoma. Does the license plate lights cause issues like picture washout at night? Thank you for making this very informative video!
Generally the license plate light is only on when the headlights are illuminated, so therefore the camera would only see power at night which defeats the purpose of using the camera in the daylight.
Could you do this on a joying 11.6”? I have the camera that came stock with the truck. but ordered another camera with the new head unit and am curious how to hook it up and maintain both cameras
The only problem that I have doing it like that is that it he leds on the camera are always on is there a way around that? While still being able to access it all the time.
so my pioneer radio does recognize when i put in reverse but i have no picture just in my rear view mirror. I tapped into the wires behind the coin holder on the lower left of the steering wheel. I also plugged the rca it into the brown connection of the radio ,what could it be ? The rca cable i cut on end and seperated the positive and negative. i hav redid the connections 2 x already. Its a new cable that i cut also . and i changed the camera settings also. I never used it before its about 8yrs old my radio 09 tacoma
have the access cab version of the tacoma, i love these videos but found out yesterday my swc half dont work, how i do i fix that or should i get the crux harness that retains more then my 1 that i have now cause i do want to put my backup cam in my radio
question, this was already done for me when I received the truck a while back (2013). In the past year the camera has stopped working. Today I am looking at the connections at the tailgate and everything looked fine. I decided to remove the head unit to investigate where the wiring harness for the camera was. I ended up finding something weird. The cable has some electrical tape wrapped around it but seemed to have a sticky substance to it (the consistency of taffy or chewing gum. I am assuming this is my problem. I do not have an electrical background but was just going to disconect the battery terminals, remove the tape, and reconnect any wiring if needed. I am not sure if the power for the camera is connected to the reverse light or not yet.
Does anyone know what voltage the original rear camera of the 2019 tacoma works with? I also need to know the function by cable colors for your original harness. Thank you
Parts linked in the description of the video!
Thanks great video. My 07 Taco now has a backup camera.
Thank you sir. Took me an hour to install my tailgate handle/Backup camera using this video. Worked first try
Thanks was wondering how to route my backup camera cable out of the cab.
So if i just want it to work when I backup can I skip the fuse box step?
That’s what I did and it worked

I know this is an older video but was wondering why you chose that camera. Pros, cons?

so if you want to call upon the camera at anytime you do not bother with the taillight at all correct?
Could you send me a wire diagram of some sort. Currently my radio is just constantly showing me the rear view and won't change to any other screen
Nicely done

The red pig tail at the radio connection I thought that connects to the reverse trigger line? Or do you run a line back to the taillight?
you can power it from the license plate light instead of the long connection

Purchase a camera without LEDs.

You ever figure this out?

You could add a steering wheel control adapter or replace your harness up to you. Here is a universal adapter; amzn.to/3xsDxzQ

6 volts, and that voltage is generated / powered by the OEM radio.
@@ProvoBeastAudio thank you 🙏
What amp fuse did you use for the add-a-circuit?
5 or 10 amp is plenty.
What is the ballpark amount to install a system like this one?
Parts are linked in the description for prices there, and shop prices may vary if you have someone do it for you.
What tire size are u running on it?
Why would you use a purple wire. Just use red like normal.
