    Six years since you uploaded this and it's still helping people - I just bought this model secondhand today without the manual and your video has been very informative and clear! Much appreciated, thank you. Hope you are well - also don't pay any heed to the handful of rude comments about the volume of your voice, it actually helped me understand more of what you were saying as it was so clear. Thanks again! I'm excited to utilise the parts of the camera you pointed out that I wouldn't have known otherwise!

    I've now owned 3 of these over the years, just got one off ebay this year. Never read the manual once (have two at present). I had no idea how little I actually knew about this camera until I started watching videos to learn some tips & tricks. Your video is awesome.

    Thank you for this video, you explained everything that's needed very well.

    Best built bridge camera I've owned/seen. I've mainly used for taking video of v.fast moving sports action. Fabulous results. Manual zoom is awesome for this. Auto focus keeps up even in low light/sports hall type venues. Get one you won't be disappointed.

    I am a proud owner of the US model S9100. It has been superb for taking pictures of my kids as they grew up from birth to teenage years. Only recently did I purchase a newer model camera. I will keep my trusty Fuji to help teach my son photography, and still utilize that camera when I feel like doing so.

    Just bought an S9600 off of ebay for a good price as there is an airshow coming up this weekend. It didn't have the book which I honestly don't mind. To be honest when it comes to instructions I prefer listening to someone talking it through like you have done. I've instantly taken a like to this camera. I've saved this UA-cam on my PC to help me get use to it. So many thanks Peter going through this, it is much appreciated.

    This is a very good camera. I have been using it since 2008. Conveniently, there is a rope on the lens cap and a lens cap mount on the strap. The lens cap will never get lost. Disadvantages of the camera: the rubber covering of the camera handle stretches and peels off. It is also inconvenient that you have to use the switch near the shutter button all the time to view the photos you have taken.

    He sounds like my old father in law, he was a Londoner from Kingston, shame he didn't live very long, couldn't give up the ciggies... But a lovely video, straight from the heart! I bought this camera, because I wanted to feel something chunky in my hand. The Finepix JZ 500 which I also have, is more like a box of ciggies and no blimmin good if you have arthritis and sausage fingers ;o)

      Ha ha ! Thanks for comment -- well, I DID try smoking once in about 1957 when I was in Grermany in the RAMC-- we could get 20 Ciggies for 1 shilling ( 5 Pence now) in the NAAFI with a voucher. As soon as I came back to UK in 1958 what with TAXES they were 3 Shillings and Nine pence for 20 - a HUGE increase so I stopped smoking and spent my cash on Photography Film and stuff !

    For the XD cards you can get a USB 'side slot' adaptor for your PC - looks like a memory stick, cheap as chips and they are still doing them XD cards in decent sizes. So, with both card formats at maximum size, you should have enough memory to cover photos for a world cruise :o) And something you have not mentioned in your video yet, which I find very important - the lens has a 58mm thread, so you can use things like a Skylight A or B filter and even trick lenses with star effects if you want to go that far :o) Anyway, your brilliant video made me opt for this model and I am chuffed to bits!

    • @theoldfilmbloke
      @theoldfilmbloke  5 років тому

      YO ! George !! Many thanks for the 'tips' -- IO did use a 58mm filter - a Polariser and it worked with the Digital. i will have to investigate getting that USB adaptor for XD cards !

    The flip up or down monitor is superb and reminds me of the 1960's Rollei Flex cameras. And there's nothing wrong with the almost 'vintage' XD cards, I just got a genuine Fuji 2GB card on eBay for 18 quid and it came with the side slot USB stick style card reader. I like to keep two cards with max memory in the camera which is more than enough to cover a whole holiday photo shoot, virtually thousands of snappies ;o) And, one mor thing, Hama offers a rubber lens hood for much less in two different diameters for standard or wide angle lenses.

    Lower definition settings are handy for uploading images to the web. For things like estate agent shots or eBay photographs, where low megapixel settings are indistinguishable from high ones, and upload quicker or all in one go, without messing about with editing.
    Bridge cameras fall between too stools, and film versions were the same. They're too big and bulky to take everywhere like a compact, and don't satisfy keen amateur's desire for image quality perfection. That said, they're like the Swiss Army Knife of cameras - none of the accessories are better than a specialised tool, but they cover most jobs and all emergencies!

    Just bought this camera was largely drawn to its looks. It looks very nice especially the long lens. Got it on eBay for £50. No manual or leads. What memory card does it take place. Also if I keep it on auto on the top dial will do the basic photography I want? Thanks for uploading

    • @theoldfilmbloke
      @theoldfilmbloke  5 років тому +1

      I SHOW the memory cards at time slot 13.30 mins !! A 'CF'and an 'XD' card can be used. If you set it to the RED exposure it will do it automatically but sometimes as I said you need to 'Over-Ride ' it . Learn how to take it OFF 'Fully Auto ' !!

    • @georgetempest9627
      @georgetempest9627 5 років тому

      You can use a CF card and a XD card at the same time. I bought a 32GB SanDisk for the CF and genuine Fuji 2GB XD which give me heaps of memory. For basic photography, set it on 'P' like the gent suggests. The manual is free on the net in PDF format and the audio lead with yellow plugs is cheap on eBay. Data transfer USB is Mini USB plug on one end, like the Playststion 3 controller, so you can buy them in any length. The power supply is only for running without batteries and does NOT charge the batteries on board.
      I also went for the looks and it is chunky in the hand like an old school 35mm camera. Any more questions, contact me on FB under Lone Archer :o)

      Hallo -- When I download photos directly from Camera , which I DO if I am using the 'XD' Card as my Card reader will not work with 'XD' Cards , I plug in the FUJI Lead with one end the USB for a computer USB slot and the other end has a smaller plug which goes into a socket on camera, then switch on camera and the screen lights up at rear and I can get photos appearing in Windows Explorer in a little yellow file thing which appears. I am no expert . If I am NOT using the 'XD Card' but the 'CF Card' THEN I take OUT the CF Card and put it into my Card Reader.

I have even put the camera on a tripod and walked away for a little while, and the hand was still there. Unless a certain setting assumes that people wobble all the time, I don't know. I am on 'P' with lowest quality pictures for eBay sales and ISO 200. Any idea?

    Obviously you don't realise that you'r not shouting at your wife, you're shouting at people on UA-cam, you should learn the difference. Turning the volume down doesn't remove the effect of shouting, try to make a conscious attempt at lowering your voice to what most intelligent people would consider "normal", but firstly try to differentiate between your spouse and UA-cam viewers, there is a difference, believe me.
