Today we talk about a cheap fujfilm camera that I've been shooting for months now. For the price this is hands down one of the best budget friendly options to get into the fuji ecosystem or if you are looking for a fun digital camera to shoot along side your other gear!

I have the xe2 and I can say the images I get from this are Exceptional!!! Like nothing I've ever seen. I love everything coming out of my Xe2. It's slower with no touch screen but the magic I get in return is totally worth it. Coupled with my 35mm 1.4 Oh my Goodness!
Does this camera allow for a film simulation/recipe? As someone who can not edit I look for cameras that could also give the film look besides the normal pictures taken.
I bought an xe2s a couple of years ago for $300. It still takes great photos and I've used it in a pro setting as well. I love it!
If you have silent mode "ON" then the flash is also deactivated for whatever reason - it needs to be switched off to have the flash work. Maybe that's why your flash isn't working. Hopefully that works for you.
"film like" imaging aside, I've owned my Fuji XE1 for about 7 months after watching Lucy Lumen's video on it and have taken some of the best pictures of my photography career on it, the output is insane and my apartment is cluttered with prints from my work done on this little dude of a camera!

Your flash will work if you turn the sound on. Turning the beep off disables the flash.
Really??? That's crazy! I have the xe 1 and never could use the flash, because of that? I also have the xe2s and on this lovely camera the flash works , even without sound! Thank you so much!!!
@@peterback3561 seems like the non disabling flash might have been an upgrade on the “s”. My xe1, xe2, and x20 all have the disabled flash in silent mode

Got mine for about $175 last year after watching Ali’s channel too 😁 The lens that lives on it for me is the Fuji 23mm F1.4…that combo is Fire 🔥😁 Was never a fan of the 23 F2 and I also think the autofocus works better with that body. If you are still having AF issues try updating the firmware 😁 Hope this helps 😁

Got it at a local camera store…I think people were more focused on the X-T2, 20, 3, 30, and 4 at the time…Also, I think you pay a premium for anything that is all black…if you are not caught up on the color you can definitely find the deals out there 😁
this is my first fuji back in 2014 i think i bought it around 360 usd body only and after a year i swapped it to x100s. Then i bought a secondhand last 2018 in immaculate condition with 16-50 kit lens around 150usd im still using it until now and still loving it. I bought another xe1 and converted it to fullspectrum for my infrared shoot.
I've had my XE1 basically since new and haven't upgraded! though I definitely share your pain with how slow it is, and using the EVF to manual focus is super frustrating sometimes since the focus peaking is pretty useless lol
btw, if your flash isn't working it's worth checking whether "silent mode" is enabled - I thought the flash on mine was broken too until I found out that enabling "silent mode" disables the flash for some reason...

The X-E1 is great and has the X-trans 1 sensor magic. Yes, it's a better deal than most Fuji's right now, but it's not a bargain. I bought my first one back in 2019 for $100. They shouldn't be $300 now, just like the other overpriced Fuji models. And I guess after King's video, the price may go up. The X-T2 is probably the best deal Fuji cameras. You can find them in the low $400's. Way better features and AF. But I agree, the X-E1 is special. I still have one and will hopefully never sell it.
Mine cost nearly 120 dollars ! I shot mainly with a Manuel focus lens Minolta 50mm 1.4 MD rokkor ! It can be front heavy but I have a grip make the combo super comfortable.

I also have x-e1 and before the flash doesn’t work but I turned off the silent mode in the camera it solved my problem
I still have mine which i bought used way back in 2017, i really love the film like output photos from it.
The used market for this camera is getting hotter and prices are going up but for good reasons. I recently joined the club and paid the equivalent of about 290 USD (2,000 DKK) for a black copy in very good condition which I think was exceedingly reasonable given most listings I've seen are now at least around the 400 USD mark. But I'm also in love with the colors and light I so easily get with this sensor. It just creates happer memories than I typically get with the lastest cameras. For most still photography it's now my first choice. It obviously doesn't do video, autofocus is too slow for any moving subjects and high ISO performance is poor by todays standards so it's not great in low light unless you find artistic value in the grain. But within those limitations it's still an absolutely wonderful camera.

a very good condition E1 dont cost less than $350+ nowadays !! 😂😂 having said that, a TTartisan 27/2.8 is fast enough with it and is even faster with an E2. a great combo either way with renditions to die for ❤❤
I came across one earlier this year that was...brand new! TBH is spends most of it's time on my desk and still only has a few hundred clicks on the shutter. But I absolutely love the pictures from this camera. The colors from that sensor! Random people on the street will come up & ask me questions about it so it's started a lot cool conversations. Also, pretty small and stealthy for street photography.

Just to add to what I see that others have mentioned, if you want to go old in terms of sensors, the X-E2 might be worth a look.
You get a 16mp X-Trans II sensor versus the X-Trans I, but more importantly the minor quibbles are rectified, focus speed, viewfinder and processing speed.
I bought the "S" variant, which basically comes out of the box with all firmware updates installed and a couple of minor tweaks to the buttons.
Even with more modern Fujis, i still am impressed when I come back from using the X-E2s in terms of images that it produces.
This is the camera that got me into photography all together
Even the raws have the little something. It's not only jpg processing magic.
Drive mode must be single still image for flash to work and silent mode off! Thought mine was bad too! Works fine now, love my X-E1

Maybe you put your camera in silent mode, if that’s the case the flash won’t work. Hope it solves your issue

I had the X-E1 also, and was likewise annoyed by the relatively slow/inaccurate focusing (the X-E1 has contrast only focusing) & lagging EVF and shutter action, poor screen resolution, all just slow enough to be meaningfully annoying, especially so as I loved most everything else about the camera. Fortunately, I was able to lift all of this to a feasibly fine level by moving up to the X-E2. Like many others who’ve made the direct comparison, I put the Trans2 sensor in the same ballpark as the Trans1, so for me it’s a win/win ✅

Are you sure it doesn't work? Cos you have to turn on the sound settings in order for the flash to work
Nice review of X-E1! I'm looking for X-E2 instead X-Trans CMOS 2. It has better autofocus system than X-E1 which is too Slow... (Not interested to get X-E3 or E4 they removed DPad which sucks!)
That’s what I did. Had the X-E1, moved up to the X-E2, solved all that annoyed me about the E1. Faster, more accurate focusing, much less shutter lag, higher resolution rear screen, additional peak focus color choice, electronic shutter choice, and like many others who have also had the opportunity to compare the results side by side, put the Trans2 sensor in the same bag as the Trans 1. This is now my favorite camera, for automatic & vintage manual lens shooting 👌 (I don’t give a hoot about video)
@@raymeedc It's hard to find nowadays good bargain price X-E2 in Mint Condition. Most has raised up their price. What kind of photos do you shoot with X-E2? Is it Street photo most of time?
Yes, mostly street. I also have an X-T1 for better balance with lens adapter & additional heft when shooting vintage manual lenses (larger, brighter EVF on the T1 helps with manual focusing).
Please drop recipes for this, it doesn’t have classic chrome so a lot of the nice ones can’t be recreated 😢

I put a small strip of tape on the bottom of the pop flash on my xe-1 and when I want to use a small bit of bounce flash (around the house) it lets me have the flash pointed straight up with the tape connecting the flash to the camera. I hope that makes sense 😅.

1:09 $225??? I don't know how/why only youtube vloggers get these killer deals. On ebay right now the prices are between $340-$360 (that's the cheapest, they go up from there). Every youtube video the price they got it for is a good 33% - 50% less than normal people buy them at.

I’ve had mine for about a year and just use 2 pre ai Nikkor lenses 35mm and 50mm with an adapter. Probably won’t ever upgrade.
Not sure where anyone finds an X-E anything let alone for $300....unless it's a sold for parts one.

You mean an inexpensive but certainly not cheap bro. It's an incredible tool and that's about it. Keep it simple
XE1 tbh is just an entry level mirrorless basic device.

X-E2 is far better. I own both. 2 has better AF and way better manual focus peaking. Oh and it has Wi-Fi
The lens doesn't seem all that sharp, but the photos have an interesting look. But I love that you have the Camera Bug and want to see what everything has to offer!

The atutofocus ain't that slow man... you're spoiled. Wow, instead of it taking 0.1 seconds to focus, it takes 0.5 seconds. Half a second.
