Actually the Gravity pro was leaked in a video a month ago and in talk tennis forums some very well known testers and head rackets experts have confirmed a Gravity pro is due in April, same specs plus auxetic but with one of the best paint jobs ever made, lucky I caught it before they removed it 😂

Excellent video as always! I love these shorter videos where you're just getting out your thoughts, wouldn't mind them in addition to your usual in depth reviews!
I'm actually heavily considering picking up a gravity pro since they are on sale with the 2023 models coming out. Current racquet is the 2019 prestige tour.
Excited for your racquet of the year! My guess is the Speed Pro

Thanks Matt! Prestige Tour is nice, basically what Murray used for the start of the year but different string pattern, and different composition
Make sure you pre-measure the Gpro before buying, otherwise you'll get some crazy spec haha

I just got a Regna from Japan, if you get 1 there, the price is no different to a prestige or gravity. I added lead, 2 grams to 12, 1.5 to 3 and 9. This brings the racket to 337 swing weight. My racket was under specced at 307, so the total now is 312 unstrung, its still the fastest racket I have ever played with. With these modifications I now have the same if not more put away power than my pure strike which I loved. Highly recommend adding lead to bring the sw to 335-340. With this racquet you won't even feel it. It is the best racket I have ever played with. Ball goes excatly where I want it to.

It's all about the serve. Fascinating and accurate that you naturally mention this first. Absolutely. It's a central consideration for many players game styles. Crucial for me.
One thing tho, we not see much footage of u serving... game play is illustrative and I understand u prob not think we interested but praps footage shld illustrate the points made? This is a great video. I really enjoyed it mostly because I feel I am on a very similar journey. I am a 4.0 player with a one-hand backhand who also relies on first serve for free points. I have been on quite the racquet journey over the last few years but funny enough, the Gravity Pro always comes back into my hand and it is what I play with now (the first version). I also have a PAVS, XT Prestige Pro, Dunlop CX 200+ and Yonex Vcore 95/97D that I still have in my bag but the Gravity is just so much of an easier racquet to use though the specs of it almost suggest that it shouldn't be. I like how you have nailed down what you like or want in a racquet and I am of very similar preferences. I realised that 20mm is the perfect beam thickness for me and to have that uniform through the racquet. Also a swingweight between 330 - 340 with a lower flex and the directional control / launch of an 18 x 20. Hence, why I gravitate towards the Gravity Pro since it meets these well. I am pretty sure that an Auxetic Gravity Pro will come out next year. I don't have a reliable source besides tennis forums but I don't see why they would discontinue it. I am going to explore Angell racquets though. Have you ever played one? I like that they let you customise your specs. So I am looking to get their 97inch model which has a 20mm beam thickness. It also allows the option of extended lengths from 27.25" all the way to 28" though 27.25" is as far as I would go. So for me, this would be where I go to next as I think alongwith exploring the Gravity Pro Auxetic. I am curious to know what you will venture to next.

    • @ACTennis

The PT2.0 probably hits a nicer driving one hander, but that extra weight of about 20-25 grams of static weight is not very friendly for my game, so i can still swing the Gpro easier

Something I'm super curious about is whether you notice the difference in twist weight between the v1 an v2 Gravities in any of your strokes, particularly your backhand. Backhand is a little sluggish with specs that i have at 332g, 330 SW, around 6pts HL, that was my v1 , my v2 is 327g, 330sw and 5pts HL or so and thst 5g static was a big help for me, still relatively stable (not as much for free but works) - not entirely sure of the twistweight i didnt measure it, but ive had instances in the past where static weight had been the biggest factor when all else is good (whether add or subtracting)

I attempted to switch to the gravity pro but unfortunately after one month of full commitment I decided to return to my trusty head extreme tour. The gravity pro made me play a lot better but it demanded too much from me. The extreme tour is a great racket except that is a bit unpredictable at times. However I’ve haven’t been able to find a better stick for my game style yet and I’m too afraid to try again because every time I try it hurts my tennis.

Not yet. im more of a last year model guy. i like the discounts and like to find the overseen rackets like the Instinct 2022 a better Pure Drive but 1/3 of the price..... and the prices for the new iterations/models are quite insane. and the improvements if any are very little.
      Thoughts:
My guts tells me the pure Strikes gen 3 was already close to perfection regarding balance of power, control, stiffness, string pattern etc..its highly recommended by users overall if you see and read the buyers recomendations on the sale websites. long positve writings. not many rackets get that praised taht much by users. almost like its an holy grail discovered.
What they have changed with the gen 4 is the RA which means its now lower powered and they changed the vibration tech to be less in the racket and instead of elastic rubber in the buildup/layers its now some bast plant fibres which will deteriorate by use .
I will try it when I get a change but something tells me I will like it less. The stringbed they have changed from FSI power to FSI control pattern = tighter pattern. I think big mistake,,,,It didnt need more control and less power.
They basically have tried to make the Pure Strike to become a Blade. I think that is a mistake. wrong thinking coming to understand the market. There is already a Blade. copy the blade is like trying to copy coca cola. Strike was a different type of soda. Strike 3. gen is Blade on steroids. now they are taking the steroids out.
For me swingweight is more important. The leather grip change that and make the racket more whippy this without you can feel much difference on the static in play. when the static is added in handle the higher overall stativ weight will not make you more fatigue when its 10 grams you add. but bc it changes the swingweight it will actually make you able to play longer.

Was considering Yonex Vcore98 V7 or Ezone98. Have you an opinion on how Angell compares to the above mentioned ? Thanks for your feedback. Regards from Singapore

    • @ACTennis
      @ACTennis  Рік тому

Not worth to compare racquets based on feel, you're unlikely to get a racquet that will be so similar in feel - Angell are known to have better quality compositions of racquets, which is why they feel nicer , you need to find a substitute that you can accept for one, and then stability can be built with weight

Artengo would be your pick because it's $230, but I think you've probably put lead in the hoop and weight in the handle to bump the sw in the 325-330. Otherwise TF40 305 18x20 or T-Fight 305 RS (isoflex is too high of a sw). Talking aerodynamics regarding tennis racquets really cracks me up. Even if you put them in a wind tunnel and tested them, the difference would be so insignificant as to be laughable. It's simply not a factor at all. Seriously. Now if you want to talk static weight, swing weight, balance, flex, and sweet spot size, now we're talking about factors that affect how a racquet feels and plays. Also, strings and string tensions play a key role in racquet performance. Get the world's most perfect racquet and string it with crap strings and at the wrong tension and you're playing with a crap racquet. You can only test racquets against each other by using the same string and tension to take that element out of the evaluation equation. Otherwise, racquet comparison testing just is not valid. Not even close. Also, adding to the difficulty of racquet evaluation is the absolute crap manufacturing specs that come from most racquet brands. Actual weights and balances can vary significantly from published specs between same models. Published racquet specs are goals that are rarely met. They seem more like guesses or approximations. It's just crazy.

I’ve gotta ask, if the strike helps you beat your best opponents, why isn’t it your main?

Don't liike the grip shape , not a fan of the feel, wanted a lower swingweight but couldn't find one, doesn't naturally suit my current swing style that has changed over time

What do you think the best racquets are for a 4.0 for attacking play style?

It's too generic to recommend without knowing more about someones game, their technique and what they are looking for in a racquet

I've tried a couple Angell racquets, all great quality stuff, but didn't beat out my Gpro, something special about it 😁
