Nice well spoken vid dude. If the lift pump is not working correctly will this cause my engine to turn over for ages before it starts? i have brought a new lift pump but have not yet fitted it yet. Thanks

HI, i have fuel leaking out from the back of the electronic pump where the fuel pipes go in and also it seems theres a leak at the primer pump. the lever was not in the stowe posistion and had diesel on the end of it slowly dripping. this should not cause it to leak though should it? is there another part of it where it might be leaking? sees like a solid unit so not sure where the leak would be unless its maybe where the leaver goes into the acutal pump housing? any tips would be very appreciat

Nice video! Been there done that and it was 4th pump lucky! Original Delphi would blow but not suck. I found this out after messing with the sedimenter bowl. Pump #2 ran OK for two miles. Pump #3, a cheap make had no nuts or olives so wasn't bothered with. Pump #4 a Delphi that cost me twenty five quid worked a treat! Pump #2 when taken off looked OK but it was noticed that its rock-hard brass olives hadn't really squeezed down properly even though the pipes were nipped. I should have paid the £25 at the start. Caveat emptor!

Dare I guess the cheaper pump was a well know Land Rover parts brand beginning with B?

***** Yup it certainly was although most people call them Sh**part! (of course they don't tell you that on fleabay!)

That unfortunately techdavey1000 is only gained through experience of their parts. I have heard so many complaints about them it is surprising they are still in business.

Great video. In the midst of doing it i somehow managed to lose one of the two securing bolts! Do you know the size of these bolts? Looks like an M8 25mm?

Bad olives made from hard-brass can cause loads of trouble.

I worked the lift pump and she went first time so thats what i figured. So she,s runnin ok now Thanks your vid was a great help if i,m in the shit again i,ll refere to them once again thanks Mark

Just had a problem with my 300 Defender, if I go downhill or uphill, the engine now has a tendency to cut out. It seems to do it more if the fuel is jostled at a guess?
Really weird. Is that likely a lift-pump issue?

Did you resolve this issue. My friend TDi is doing the exact same, cutting out without prior warning. Thanks

Hi, got a Disco 95 300 TDi starts okay but goes off after a short distance. the engine shakes before going off. Recently changed the fuel pump but same problem persists. Always goes off after a short distance say 10yards..help?

you may have a partial blockage in the pipes or the fuel pipe connection on the fuel tank sender may be rotten and letting air in. The banjo on the fuel filter is a good place for dirt to collect and cause a blockage.

Hello again, feedback from my end, i managed to fix the problem, issue was the intake pipe to the fuel pump had been interchanged with the return pipe from injector pump (out to tank). Stupid mistake by one of my mechs.
      Thank you so much.
New problem.. the ticking noise from the tdi is so irritating, many forums suggest the vacuum pump (Wabco pump failure) What's your take on this loud ticking noise ?

Sorry. my English reading is better than hearing, as fgar I have understood I have to feel the external lever actuating in the internal one? 1:35?

    • @trailerfitter2
      @trailerfitter2  7 років тому +1

yes that is quite correct. If it is in the pumping position then it cannot be primed. There is a positive engagement feel when it is in the right position.

Can it be fuel returning back to tank through the pipe?
