- Over the years Nintendo has made some very wild commercials. Some are amazing others are well... something else. From New Leaf, and New Horizons, all the way back to Wild World, City Folk and the Gamecube, lets look at every Animal Crossing Commercial.

I'm amazed nobody tried making a commercial highlighting how Animal Crossing can be like, your life away from life. Imagine a commercial with someone in their home, with a strong storm raging outside their window while they're on the phone telling their friend "Yeah, it's a lovely day out! The sun is shining and the sky is clear!" Then you see they're talking about the weather in Animal Crossing!

that's kind of what they did with the girl coming back from college, she used it to keep her mind off of the fact that she was leaving all her friends
the ad at 5:00 is spoken in kansai-ben, while playing traditional japanese music. the idea is that it plays on nostalgia, back to a time when things were simpler lol. the reason kansai-ben is selected is because in kyoto, that is the dialect spoken, plus it's the traditional cultural hub of the nation. you find all the really old shrines, geiko and maiko, a lot of handicrafts and artisans, and it used to be the capital until a couple hundred years ago. so it's like "traditional old japan" vibes
Makes sense since the gamecube version has a lot of traditional aspects. I kind of wish we could go back to the game being that peaceful.
Sounded like Johto from Pokemon.
I like the original reality show puppet commercials doesn’t really fit the aesthetic of ac now but it was a product of its time and is cool to watch.
idk what animal crossing you played, but my mom and I play and just smack eachother with nets until we get bored, fits well imo
(joking aside, Villagers were pretty mean in the original games so it still fit)

Back in 2002, reality shows were everywhere and a big deal, so it made sense to parody them, because AC was kinda one of the first "reality simulator/RPG" games, along with "Harvest Moon."
The sass in the GameCube commercial is through the roof.

I like how the in the first new leaf Nickelodeon commercial, the boys character in game had bed head, they couldn’t even give him a hairstyle 💀
i think the "let's go to the city" and "wild world" correlate so much in the uk commercials to show off the gimmick that you can transfer your wild world town to the city folk/lets go to the city game. It'd be especially popular for the games coming out close together because, aside from the city addition, the games are pretty much the same.
17:11 that is kyrary pamyu pamyu, a jpop singer! she is very popular in Japan still even though most of her popular songs were 10+ years ago, popular songs were PONPONPON and kira kira killer, in this ad she is basically just singing and dancing and what makes it super cute is that the gameplay has her name and everything

the us wild world commercial is extremely curse, but it *is* memorable and i think that's might be what they were going for. plus japan has a lot of weird commercials, and i think we deserved more of that chaotic energy
It should be stated also that the e-Reader was significantly more successful in Japan than in the US.

Aaah awesome you put the German one in A. It's the first that came to my mind when thinking back. They are talking like friends and show their towns to each other. I can relate to that so well.
The other commercials I remembered were the UK one for ACLgttc where the star is appearing both in the game and in the real night sky. I loved this for some probably nostalgic reason. And I like both ACNL commetcials in which they brought together human beings and the game characters. 😍

I remember finding Animal Crossing back around 2014 after seeing that one dumb ad with the kid walking around and changing the house.
I remember being SO intrigued and extremely determined to get the game.
The switch commercials atleast had some story to them, its just dumb to bring them down

I don’t find that Japanese violin music very calming its mind if eerie and sounds weird with voice over over it like a little girl is humming behind voice over I kind of hate it
In terms of the Wild World commercials, there was a great Wild World US commercial from 2007-ish that initially advertised the DS as a whole with Nintendogs and, I believe Mario Kart DS. It involved the villagers and special villagers hanging out with the human actor/player. It may seem a bit boring, but, to me, that was a better representation of Wild World in my opinion. I wish that one was added, even if it is a commercial highlighting the Nintendo DS as a whole. Also, crap... I was one of the kids (early teens) that watched Nickelodeon in 2012 when that New Leaf commercial came out, though it wasn't what made me want to get the game, though.

Awesome video! I forgot about so many of these. Also I noticed the syncing for the video and audio is a bit off. As you would end talking about one commercial an other would start than while starting that next commercial bit it would almost be the end of the segment & the cycle would start again. Hope that made sense.
18:20 the girls in the ad are lisa and lena and are actually quite popular,especially in Germany. This commercial was also a reason for me to buy this game back then.

I love the one with Denis Brogniart for New Horizons in France, it's iconic bc this man is the presenter of Koh Lanta (a famous TV Show in FR).
The French Wild World commercial was also here in germany. Maybe the have English subtitles if you want to look it up ☺️

one of my problems with the Animal Crossing before New Horizons is resetti somehow thinking you got on the next day, not the next few months.
i was confused when he showed up acting like i reset yesterday even though i haven't played since last christmas eve.

Clearly, Nintendo needs to hire the production crew of Cats! for the next American commercial.
Ahh, Kyary Pamyu Pamyu! I'm surprised she did an advertisement for the game, but it's kinda fitting for her. She's a rather big idol over in Japan
All I know is animal crossing is like a great little escape for me and I’m happy the game franchise exists however I do wish there was an update to new horizons where you can grow peppers and get other produce stuff somehow and I wish the update could have more food making options like you can make a regular basic pizza you can make mozzarella stick’s hamburgers chocolate chip cookies fruit cupcakes basic ham and cheese sandwich and yeah more food options would make the game more fun for sure and it would be nice if there was house storage up until like 6,000 storage because I need more space to store everything useful
The weird Gamecube commercials had put me off on Animal Crossing as a kid. So I sadly missed out on the first game.
