The reason Pascal looks so much different from Lottie and Lyle is probably because they're river otters, while he's a sea otter. They have different shaped mouths, and sea otters have shorter, flatter tails. They also float on their backs. River otters are more sleek, have longer tails, and swim belly down like most aquatic animals.
I found out completely by accident that in New Horizons, if you shoot a present out of the sky directly above a simple well (the big stone well with no top cover), even if there are empty ground tiles surrounding it, the present will fall straight down into the well and disappear instead of bouncing off onto the ground. Considering how circumstantial it is, I just find it really funny that they even thought to add soemthing like that.
16:55: Bluebear is actually a female villager. I have her on my island and everyone uses feminine pronouns for her. Also, she told me a story of the time she wanted to impress another girl in her class. And it was so wholesome.

I've never seen anyone talk about this but the person on the rescue service is resetti/someone close to him because if you try to use the rescue service with less than 100 nook miles he says something like "calm down resetti" so it is him or someone near him, probably his brother
He might just be talking to himself since he's known for his short-fuse temper. Y'know how some people get riled up and then suddenly take a breather and mutter to themselves to chill out a bit

Heck, if any of us could travel to a different planet that had intelligent life forms, we'd fit the definition of "alien" that I think is what the snowboy means by that word. The word alien doesn't have to be directed solely on those generic shapes of aliens we all know of
I had no idea that's how you got the golden axe in Wild World, pretty crazy! Speaking of the golden tools, whosever idea it was to have them break in New Horizons... I wish to have a talk with them >:(

for Isabelle, the french name "Marie" is probably a joke with the the word "Mairie" which means "city hall" basically so yeah Marie est à la mairie lmao
Pretty sure City Folk's method of obtaining the golden axe is a reference to some folk tale where a farmer or lumberjack (or something along those lines) drops his axe into a lake and weeps the water's edge until the lake spirit appears. He tells the spirit about his woe, and the spirit dives into the lake to fetch his axe, and brings a golden axe up instead. When asked if it was his, he said no. This repeated with a silver axe, and then finally his axe was brought to him, to which he said it was his axe. As reward for his honesty, the lake spirit let him take all three axes.
Huh, I always thought the Groundhog Day connection to resetti was through the movie where he keeps reliving the same day and Resetti complains about you replaying the same day over again.
Another useless fact: only one villager has a different name in the Dutch localization. Dom's name in Dutch is Donny, likely because "dom" is Dutch for "dumb". As for my birthday, I share it with Coco, the rabbit who looks like a Gyroid.
Another thing about the Girl with the Pearl Earring painting, certain fake paintings change depending on the time of day. There's also a statue(the fake ver) that glows at night & floats when you interact with it.(It looks like a robot) Fun fact Resetti's N64 outfit(long sleeve shirt) if you can see his midsection you can see something yellow. He's wearing a haramaki(meaning belly wrap) which is a Japanese belly warmer. In Japan during the 70s & 80s it was considered out-of-date underwear for old men. In some anime stuff old men wear that shirt & belly warmer so Resetti is depicted as an old man yelling at you for resetting.
Despite having Kyle on my island always i never realized him and I shared a birthday! I tend to time skip a lot so i always end up skipping my birthday or not play during the month of december in general, so it gave me a nice smile to see Kyle when i went to look.
11:38 Probably one of the reasons why sea otters and river otters are designed completely separately is that, in Japanese, they don’t share a common name. River otters are usually called カワウソ kawauso, whereas sea otters are ラッコ rakko. I for one had never made a connection until it’s pointed out in this video.
@@testerwulf3357 True. The question could more accurately be framed this way: “Why an English speaker thought it’s intriguing that these characters were designed differently even though ‘they are all otters,’” instead of “Why they are designed differently.” About the point brought up here...I think different real‐life things can be stylized differently because they are different, but they can also be designed similarly because they are mentally bunched together. There are real cats (猫) that look different, too, but there is only one variant in game. Of course animal villagers share head types but “cats” don’t HAVE to be one type, if designers feel it’s more appropriate otherwise. An English speaker might design cartoonish “otter” characters to look somewhat similar to each other regardless of if they are river ones or sea ones, but that probably isn’t even a consideration for a Japanese‐speaking designer.
11:44 well, they are different kinds of otters. Lottie is a river otter, and pascal is a sea otter. Still weird that they look *that* different though.
24:29 Props to you for actually mentioning Frostwire along with Limewire. Sometimes I feel like I'm the only person who ever heard of Frostwire. As far as I remember, there wasn't a whole lot different from it and Limewire, just that it was supposedly "less dangerous".

Thankyou Rocket Elijah for all your hardwork. I have seen many of your videos and watching your channel is ALWAYS a part of my chore routine. Doing chores while watching your videos is very fun and makes them less stressful.
Fun fact: In Animal Crossing New Leaf if you get a wii u furniture item and play it and have the villager midge and possibly a different villager midge flies.
the yellow birds and owls have been on the bulletin boards since at least city folk (i haven't played enough wild world or the og game to remember if they're featured) they're an indicator that there are new posts on your town/islands board, usually with the amount of birds signifying the amount of unread posts
I remember Blanca. One thing I remember doing with her is drawing the face of Blaze the Cat on hers. I guess the closest a player without a Nintendo Switch Online account can get in NH is the treasure hunts. (With an NSO account, you can just... play hide-and-seek with your visitors, or your host and other visitors.) Now I'm imagining Redd selling you turnips on Sunday, then the day comes that Nook's Cranny will buy turnips at a higher price than you bought them for, and you go to sell them... only to find that they're made of foam rubber or something, so you completely wasted your money. Hmm. Yeah, I assume your bird-type villagers can't fly, as they have the same limitations on movement as their ground-bound neighbors: if a piece of land is surrounded by water and/or cliff edges with no bridge or ramp to it, they can't go there. They can't vault over the rivers, and they can't use ladders or vines to climb up or down. Snowboys are an alien civilization. They've been looking forward to the moment of their formation since they were still snowflakes. When they melt, they don't feel pain, and even find it fun. Is the rest of the water in the game alive and conscious? Including the water used to brew coffee, or found in baths and showers...? Wait, the tier list is still a thing? It seemed like they stopped maintaining it or something... Also, Mr. Resetti can just show up randomly at The Roost, no amiibo necessary. I guess you could also say that what an artist does with their own music is their business, and if they want to give out what they could be selling, and they're not under contract not to distribute like that... Of course, now you can buy his music, with what's available changing to a random one per day, with only a few not being for sale, but either by request only, or being given to you ONLY on the day you said was your character's birthday. There are also two Daisys: Daisy and Daisy Mae. And then there's Renée and Reneigh, and Tammi and Tammy. The kangaroo children remind me of Wade's floatie. You know, from U.S. Acres/Orson's Farm. I remember that Copper used to be suspicious of Katrina's true identity.
I love these videos so much! I find I enjoy them more when I slow them down a bit and can relax while taking in all the info. Too bad UA-cam only lets me slow it down in increments of 25%! I feel like if the audio was slowed down 5-10% it would be perfect!
Hide and Seek was so funny on City Folk (or Let's Go To the City). Filbert came up to me and asked to play, and he got Pecan and Blaire, I think, to play and oh my goodness are they bad at hiding! Was terribly fun though as Filbert is my favourite villager.
I think the rough translation for Booker's Chinese localization is because in Chinese, it's kind of like a sign of endearment or respect to elders who are male to call them uncle. And so, at least from my experience with the language (which is admittedly limited), this is typically done by referring to them as 大爺, but in the case of Booker and Copper it's 叔叔, which also means uncle, but specifically an uncle who's younger than your own father, meanwhile 大爺 is the opposite, an uncle who's older than your own father. It is weird, though, that they didn't give Copper and Booker some unique names at the very least. I think it would have been neat if they did like a play on words kind of name, where their names are homophones of police. Or even just naming Copper as Jing (警) and Booker as Cha (察), which together form the pronunciation for 警察 (police).
I share a birthday with Vivian! And I actually used to be really sad because before she was introduced I didn't share my birthday with any villager while the rest of my family did haha
my bday twin is rooney and i had him on my first ever town… he was my favorite villager, so when i found out we shared a birthday it made me love him even more!
5:48 Blathers can fly, I remember donating an animal and he said “hopefully they don’t eat flying birds “ and then shivers, “flying bird” refers to him and “they” refers to the animal he was talking about
29:47 As someone who is named Serena, and has been (unwillingly) associated with mermaids all of my life… this just rubs more salt in the wound lmao Also, fun fact: Baku (the dream eating creatures) are also the word for Tapir in Japanese, due to how they look similar to the mythical beast. This is similar to Giraffes and Qilins/Kirins! Qilins (Chinese)/Kirins (Japanese) are essentially a dragon-deer hybrid. They represent justice and are extremely caring beasts. They don’t harm a single living thing, including grass, unless there is an evil being, in which they will pretty brutally kill. So, supposedly, when Giraffes were brought to the emperor of China at the time, they were mistaken for the Qilin, and named after them. Although Qilin are more draconic with lion tails, and Kirin are more deer-like with ox tails (tbh the tails are similar anyways). It’s honestly no surprise they thought Giraffes were draconic, they are gigantic, have horns, and their spots could look like scales. Plus, they both have manes, a tufted tail, and have deer-like legs.
I was very confused when I thought I recognized the Tomodachi Life cover only for you to go “Style Savvy 4!”, only to realized you’d just swapped them around.
5:15 Pascal is not only a famous mathematician but also a very famous philosopher so it makes sense that his name and his life statements are actually more related to his philosophical work 😊
19:43 this fact pissed me off when i found out about it. There is no option to set the switch to British english, so Isabelle uses the STUPID month-day-year system. I don't understand why there's no way to change it, especially when it is actually possible to do on the ACNH portion of the switch online app.
@@ChicagoMel23 I don't mean to offend any Americans that use this, but there is a problem with this. Basically it's like that game for babies of stacking colourful rings on that pole, where it's nice to see it go from big in the bottom to small in the top (DD-MM-YYYY), it looks a bit wrong when it's upside down (Canadian YYYY-MM-DD), and it just looks wrong when it's completely out of order (MM-DD-YYYY).
My birthday twin is Bella! I didn’t like her at first, but now I think she’s pretty cool!
i love how halfway through the facts just are random observations that mean nothing
I share a birthday with Vivian! And I actually used to be really sad because before she was introduced I didn't share my birthday with any villager while the rest of my family did haha
There’s three Toms there’s Tom, Tom-Nook and Tom-my
in 12:33 the game is Tomodachi life, but the japanese cover; and the last onr IS style savvy. you mixed them up 😂
Bro when u told me that blue bear was a reference to him being a blue bear, it just blew me away like I never would have guessed :O
I can confirm that the Don resetti theory is correct as I've had it multiple times
I just figured Pascal's name was a pun on "pass scallop," because that's generally what you do when you see him.
No it’s based on the pascal measurement which is named after a person; though I suppose it could be a double meaning
my bday twin is rooney and i had him on my first ever town… he was my favorite villager, so when i found out we shared a birthday it made me love him even more!
You said style savvy as you showed Tomodachi Life on the 3DS shelf. 😅 besides that this video is pretty good!
5:48 Blathers can fly, I remember donating an animal and he said “hopefully they don’t eat flying birds “ and then shivers, “flying bird” refers to him and “they” refers to the animal he was talking about
29:47
As someone who is named Serena, and has been (unwillingly) associated with mermaids all of my life… this just rubs more salt in the wound lmao
Also, fun fact:
Baku (the dream eating creatures) are also the word for Tapir in Japanese, due to how they look similar to the mythical beast.
13:12 i really do hope your not kidding and someone out there is still not infected
Please dont if he asks don't Say it
This is exactly what I was thinking, if you know you know.
i really said out loud "does he know???" 💀
I was actually impressed that there was not a single reference, like how does he not know 😞
wish you could hug the villagers.... (probably most of the players wish this too)
I was very confused when I thought I recognized the Tomodachi Life cover only for you to go “Style Savvy 4!”, only to realized you’d just swapped them around.
16:32 finally someone telling us the real important information
Unfortunately my birthday is shared with….Kiki…..
For the gold tools in new horizions: if you're lazy and dont wanna do stuff, you can use a bot to get them
But its more fun if you do stuff :>
Isabella was born first while Digby was born seconds after. Making them twins
your birthday is on christmas day? thats so cool!
I do not share a birthday with a villager, but i do share a name with one
I know its useless facts but man you were struggling halfway in
Oh what Ankha was famous out of nowhere? I have noooo idea why that could be! We will neeeeever know...
Love your work Elijah! Keep it up!
5:15 Pascal is not only a famous mathematician but also a very famous philosopher so it makes sense that his name and his life statements are actually more related to his philosophical work 😊
12:34 i might have to play new leaf just to get ssff on a shelf, i LOVE that game it’s my favorite ds game ever😭😭😭
I’ve had both Resettis drop by my cafe in NH, in fact maybe Don’s been there more than Sonny
My birthday buddy is Becky the chicken. Also it's really cool that you have a Christmas birthday!
19:43 this fact pissed me off when i found out about it. There is no option to set the switch to British english, so Isabelle uses the STUPID month-day-year system. I don't understand why there's no way to change it, especially when it is actually possible to do on the ACNH portion of the switch online app.
It isnt stupid. It’s logical. We say it that way. Like July 17th….We dont say 17th July verbally. So why would it be stupid?
@@ChicagoMel23 I don't mean to offend any Americans that use this, but there is a problem with this. Basically it's like that game for babies of stacking colourful rings on that pole, where it's nice to see it go from big in the bottom to small in the top (DD-MM-YYYY), it looks a bit wrong when it's upside down (Canadian YYYY-MM-DD), and it just looks wrong when it's completely out of order (MM-DD-YYYY). Just google the game "Dude, Stop.".
Perhaps if they had settings for different English regions; there could be less controversy over British slang terms that are not even known of overseas.
@@thunderhammerx2966 Yeah, exactly!
Hi, Canadian here
We don’t use YYYY/MM/DD
That’s on government papers
It’s the norm to use DD/MM/YYYY
The lost cat one would be so cute in new Horizons!!!
Pekoe is my birthday buddy and bc of this she is my always exception villager I have on my island/ttown no matter the theme. I love her.
The thing i noticed, that thumbnail says "ueselss"instead of "useless"
In ACNH a friend of mine gifted me a golden watering can and every time it broke he sent a new one, I used them to start my golden flowers, and used those along with other decorations to get a five star rating, now I have two Lily of the Valley flowers
SOME of this information is so stupid and pointless but ... yeah, you're just giving me exactly what you described: useless information.
Isabell’s French name Marie is very similar to the word Mairie, which means town hall
i got the same bd as jay.
started playing quite recently, learned of the gyroid face glitch and after playing stardew i realised most of the stuff i liked there is in ac.
i like the gyroids but i havent gotten that far yet... i found out about starting villagers...
its been a lot of fun
"You can see pumpkins on the side of Jack's truck. This is likely a reference to the fact that his head is a pumpkin" 😂
Pascal is not an anagram of scallop in any sense.
im pretty sure isabelle has a unique voice too, forgive me if i am mistaken
i share a birthday with tiansheng!!! he’s probably one of my favorites because of the monkey king reference and i love the show monkie kid :3
this video is a year old so it's probably already been brought up but apparently that Honest Woodman story is also referenced in Silent Hill 3 with lead pipes lmao
