Plus, the hands on assignments are helpful and the templates you get are great tools for later. But I am using that as my required hours and I’m currently studying for the CAPM. In my own searches PMI certainly seem to be the most desirable. So, I agree do both.

Hi Alvin thanks for the good advice l currently doing CAPM along with Prince 2 Foundation & Practitioner , Prince 2 Agile so working my way to becoming an aspiring project manager in 2024. Continue to motivate and aspire us.

I’m a Business Analyst and I’m taking the Google PM certificate to add PM in my skills and help me to be more organized , not really to work as a PM. I really like how google created this course I’m learning a lot and is helping me as a BA and also to manage small-medium projects in the future because there are Hybrid BA roles to work as a BA/PM.
Nice work with adding the Google PM Certificate to your experience, super helpful, especially since you'll be pursuing Hybrid BA Roles, where you'll do a combination of BA and PM work.
I'm a Senior Business Analyst with experience as a PM, do you guys think it's worth doing the Google PM Certificate? I also like the hybrid BA/PM job, I've done it for a few projects. @clabpr79 @alvinthepmofficial
My local library had a program this year sponsoring enrollment into any of the grow with google certs, so I have been fortunate in not having to pay for Coursera. As a newbie to the PM field I have found the google cert to be an awesome introduction! Like others have said I also plan to take the CAPM after completing the google cert.
What a nice video! I'm currently looking to formalize my career in Project Manager as all my knowledge has been only "on the get go" at work. This really helped me to understand what should be my start point and my end point. Thank you!
So glad to have you here! Being a Project Manager is a great career path, and I'm glad that you found the video helpful! I have a ton of videos on my UA-cam Channel about the Project Manager career path - I recommend checking them out as well
I took the Google PM and now I'm studying for the CAPM. Google was much more engaging and enjoyable and I felt like I learned a lot more but the CAPM is preferred on your resume.

Don’t do the Google PM certificate. Does not help with job search at all and most companies, as you rightly said, only value and consider PMI certifications. Google’s PM certificate is only worth it if you’re looking to lessen the basics of project management and how things usually work in Google’s offices and teams.
I have to admit that while the Google course was decent (finished it in a week to get it "for free"), it didn't have the same weight as the PMI material. Half of the Google course was more about Google's policies than it was about actual project management. This is fine because the course was created to train people in the Google way. However, not every company is Google. To be honest, I have been told by my employer that they will never seek a project manager and that I "wasted my time," but that's okay. I'll just find another company that will appreciate what I can do and I will keep learning, see if I can get that Agile cert or get the SCRUM master setup.
@MatthewEaton, thanks for sharing your own experiences taking the Google Course. And, you're right, not every company is Google. It's unfortunate that your employer isn't looking for a Project Manager at this time. If that's the case, I encourage you to look at other companies in your area for Project Manager roles, because there are definitely companies out there needing PMs (from entry level to mid and senior). Keep going, and don't get discouraged by what your employer said. If I had stayed at my first company, I wouldn't be where I am today, and I wouldn't have been able to pivot into Project Management. You got this!
Yes as per my view both certifications are ready to elevate your PM courier but firstly get start with google certification because it would be more useful to create base for capm exam as well as it may have an hands on assignment work which will help to crack capm exam successfully👍
I was exploring the certifications when I found out about both. After doing some research I was making up mind that I should take both certifications as they are equally worth anyone's time and money. I came across your video on UA-cam and after listening to you I am damn sure about my decision now. Thanks. It really helped me a lot.

That's awesome, glad to hear you're progressing fast through the program! If you already meet the minimum 3 years of work experience managing projects professionally, then I'd recommend going straight for the PMP Exam. If you do not meet this experience, then go for the CAPM Exam. Watch this video I made about how to pass the CAPM Exam for more detail on that exam: ua-cam.com/video/gRgZmeZFw-M/v-deo.htmlsi=UPF7474enf2zNQUm
I encourage you to look at companies that you're interested in, in the industry you want to work in (aerospace, aviation, construction, IT, manufacturing, finance, etc). If not, try LinkedIn, Glassdoor, and other similar ones
Thanks for sharing your experience! I know that not everyone lands a job with the google program and that everyone's mileage will differ. I like to think of the Google Program as something that will help start or build your knowledge, if you're just getting started in Project Management, so you can be well versed when you start applying to jobs. Depending on your experience and the roles & industry you're interested in, I'd encourage you to go for the CAPM Certification and/or Agile or Scrum Certifications, to help you stand out on your resume with the jobs you're applying to.

Nice work!
Im just lost. Fresh out of school graduate, studied computer engineering. I don't have a job or any work experience.
Searching for something to do and came across this project management. I don't know if its something i can venture in as a complete beginner. Can i land job after this courses and certification? Or would I still have to go over and start a job and work my way up to being a project manager?
Help please
You can absolutely land a job as a complete beginner in Project Management, I've worked many entry-level project managers who were fresh graduates from college (meaning zero experience beforehand). I encourage you to start looking into the industries you want to apply for, research the companies you're interested in, and start applying.
Id google first then capm
Great feedback!
I'm pursuing Google PM and I've PMD-Pro, so your advice which is very high opportunity and better PMD-Pro and CAPM?
