Hi there. I would like in the future to take the PMI certificate when I have enough experience (Need total 3 years). I have a couple of 1½ years of experience as a Project Coordinator and some months as a project manager + completed the google Project management course. Would you think it would be good to take the CAPM certificate first? For understanding vocabulary, test format and so on? Or does it not really prepare you for the PMI certificate?
The format is simpler, but I would recommend that the CAPM is a good first step (or next step, since you have the Google qualification) to PMP. However, there is a time implication and a cost, so you should assess for yourself, whether this will give you good value. But the content of the syllabus is valuable in building up a solid foundation for a long-term Project Management career. So, it is something to assess properly.
