My story about Shining Gyarados...
When I was a wee lad (about 10 years old), it was near Christmas time and I was at the mall doing holiday shopping with my mom. We walk past a hobby shop and I'm like "Mom Mom, I wanna check out the Pokémon cards!!" Mom reluctantly agrees, so we go in and I see that they're selling packs of Neo Revelation. I BEG and PLEAD with my mom to buy me a few packs of the set, so I could get a Shining Gyarados. After some negotiation, she finally agrees to buy me three (3) packs. I gripe for a bit and explain to her that the chances of getting a Shining Pokémon are like 1 in every 2 boxes or something, but hey, I'm getting free packs, I shouldn't be bitching.
So we've left the store and I'm opening the first pack, I go through the cards and I see... Shining Magikarp!
10 Year Old Me starts screeching with excitement, because Wow I Just Got A Shining Pokémon!!! I tell my mom, "This is awesome, but it just about statistically kills any chance I had of getting a Shining Gyarados"
I open up the second pack, AND IT'S A FUCKING SHINING GYARADOS.
10 Year Old Me has officially lost his shit. BOTH Shining Magikarp and Shining Gyarados out of only two packs?? What kind of ungodly luck is this???

3. Somehow watching people opening booster packs gives me the tingles of hoping for a hollow.

Fun short story, i didnt knew that there were shiny Pokemons back then. Always thought that there is only a red Garados. After some years i was able to catch my first Shiny Pokemon, a gold Magickarp (at this point i realized there are many Pokemons like this). I was so hyped about getting a Black or Green version of Gyarados, but it evolved into a Red Gyarados. At this Point i realized how hard RNGesus fucked me up as it gave me a free Shiny Pokemon in its pre evolution state :(
