I'm a self taught painter.. been painting professionally for about 7 years, started off turning rental units like apartments and mobile homes. ( and YES, I have made my share of mistakes!). now doing warranty work for a builder out here in Texas, and getting a few full repaints from homeowners. Your Videos are fantastic. Painting isn't easy if done right!.. I totally respect your approach. I do some things a bit different, and also have incorporated many of your lessons into my way of getting it done. Products and specific tools aside, I LOVE your respect of PREP.. the guy who turned me on to my current gig told me .." You can have the fanciest tools, and most expensive paint on Earth, and if your job isn't prepped correctly, you might as well be rolling dog shit with a Q-tip".
Thanks for the effort you put into your UA-cam channel.. I'm sure you've helped way more people than me!..
Found this channel by chance a week ago. I’ve been binge watching it since. Great content and seems like a great person too. The tips he gives out for free is very helpful and makes work faster and easier. Thanks man.
Thank you for watching and sharing🤙
Been watching you for years thanks for the tips and videos they have greatly helped me improve myself and my quality of work for clients. God bless!
Thank you for your advice/videos I appreciate it. Some guys on the field don't like to give tips or help out the inexperienced.
Great info, thanks for taking the time to explain about rollers. Who makes your pants?
I never thought of some of the things you brought up, like a flexible roller causing trailing edges, and the way microfiber nap tends to drag, which I never considered might be caused by the cheap roller. Great insights Chris!
Thank you🤙
Looking back over the years of painting and never understood why mine keep doing it lol
I love the blue tiger roller. They used to sell them at Walmart idk if they do anymore tho. Also like the dark green wooster.
I actually prefer the small/inexpensive 4” rollers, much easier to maneuver around as you cut in. The expensive one weights almost twice as much. Review 18” roller frames next! Never seen a “double 9” roller frame”, roller trays are another one, I’ve had the same 5 roller trays for like 7 years now
Great advice! Thanks...
I love the one that is lightweight and adjustable between 12-18". It holds roller from the sides so you don't mount the sleeve on top of it hence less friction.
Thanks for sharing👍
Does the blue tiger roller click onto the Sherlock Wooster poles like the Wooster roller does?
Excellent!
Very good
Thank you👍
Which dollar store did you get that rod?
Purdy quick release with a purdy extension pole
SO nice, right? Very convenient when you need to swap stuff or just set stuff down without it sticking out everywhere. Nice quality too
Purdy extension poles suck! They slip! And for this reason, I use Wooster Sherlock
Yeah, I went from Wooster quick connects to purdy poles and frames. Loving every second of it. Only thing I don't like is some of my bigger extension poles tend to slip and slide down after a while, also had one of the quick connects break at the tiny hook in the end. But honestly I don't mind investing in new ones and just rotating them out. Absolutely love the new purdy setup.
Make a video with paint brushes and paint sprayers if you haven't already. Great video! best luck from Texas
Buy Purdy brushes and you'll be fine.
I've been in the painting business for over 30 years, and that's all I use.
I like the 3 inches, blue bristle with a square head.
Unfortunately we don’t have those type of cage rollers here in Scotland the nearest to these cages is Purdy and if I buy from your shop I have to put in postage from the USA
We do ship to Scotland🤙
Menards has a good roller cage looks just like the one in his video the better stiffer one.
Can you please make a video that based on how much you should get paid based on experience i feel like I'm getting played I've preped house inside and out i know how to cut in and mask and i only make 12$hr....I need to know my real worth.
What's the difference between blue tiger and wooster? It looks like blue wooster 🤷
Hey buddy I do a lot of exterior work and it's been raining a lot here in Pennsylvania how about in Idaho
Just super windy this year
Do you guys call them Johnny rollers or weenie rollers…different painters call it different things also ive heard sausage roller..?
Where can I find the 18” double 9”
Roller? I live in Canada , cheers
Not sure
Trying to get it in paintlifesupply.com as we speak
Thanks for the reply man, appreciate it 👍🏾
"The stiffer, the better"...that's what she said!!
You’re amazing
Thanks Sean
So true
I thought you were going to talk about Nap length and micro vs lambs wool. But cool video.
Quick ? Purdy or Wooster???
Wooster all day ( for brushes and frames ) although I do like Purdys microfiber sleeves.
Purdy adjustable 12-18” frame seems to better than the Wooster frames. However wooster sherlock 9” is light years better than the purdy all plastic pro frame.
3:15 That's so what she said!
Wooster snap in is the top tier for personally, I dislike the eventual Wooster whistle that happens but still the best. (And yes I WD-40 till it happens an still continue)
Thanks for sharing 🤙
Chris Blue Tiger or Wooster sherlock roller?? which is better??
I prefer Blue Tiger but both are good🤙
@@Idahopainter I want the blue tiger, but have to oder it in, Wooster in stock at Homerville.
i thought you‘d talk about rollers :( and maybe the differences between foam and the others - cheap vs. expensive handles, that‘s a no brainer
greetings from the very very very rainy germany
Thank you👍
@@Idahopainter you‘re welcome
Wooster poles and frames are King.
👊
I prefer purdy rollers and extension poles
👍
ruff,ruff 😂1:51
Wooster 👍👍👍
The Roller COVER goes over the Roller. Making a video about Rollers, you called the Roller Covers 'Rollers' also. Just a small point. I enjoy your videos, and they are always informative. Kinda like Caulk Guns - don't spend $2.99 on the Caulk and $1.99 on the Caulk Gun. Get a good one instead.
I use only Corona brushes! 🙃😏🙄
Always Delint your roller naps
SO IMPORTANT!!!
Yes👊
👏🏽
👍
Wooster is the best.
Smash that like button
Thanks👍
The 'sleeve' is what goes on the frame....dear God.
A real painter can paint with anything even his own fingers
Who knew?
Don’t matter about the paint roller I seen great painters use the cheapest stuff and that looks better than someone that uses the most professional tools its not always about the tools or brands is about getting it done
why did you watch the video if you already know?
I don't know if I'd call roller choice a professional tool.. Now the difference between using cheap tools compared to more expensive professional tools is many times the difference between night n day!!!.. And yes there is a big difference between a cheap roller frame and a more expensive professional type roller frame
@@ryanbinder1294 To see what bullshit comes out of his mouth sometimes he’s correct he’s a good painter well that’s what I do as well sure I don’t pay attention to him at other painters on UA-cam oh yeah I’ve always known that is not the TOols is the worker
@@reddawgrup1779 Yes I understand there’s a big difference either made at work my last too long but I’m just saying to get the job done I think using any tour the right way is possibly help you get the job done that’s all but yes I do agree with the rollers I’d rather get a good one is gonna last you for a long time
Cheap is expensive.
