    Wait til the Spurs get their best starting 5 in CP3, Steph Castle, Devin Vassell, Jeremy Sochan and Wemby, they're gonna be even better and have a chance to make the playoffs through the playin. 9-8 record Is solid when having played 0 games with their best 5 so far

      Idk. Wemby aside, that’s a small ball lineup with 3 guards. I say, keep Barnes as a starter and have Vassell or Castle come off the bench to provide some spark for the 2nd unit.

      @@b-wak What are you talking about? Devin can play SF and Steph is 6'6 and can defend SFs too. The only small guy is CP3 who usually defends the worst player on the other team and has high IQ defense

      @@blablablaa14 The team is already struggling to get rebounds as it is with only Mamu and Bassey consistently positioning themselves to get them especially offensive ones - two players who rarely get good muinutes. A lot of their problems come with the 2nd unit especially if Collins, Branham and sometimes, Keldon are on the same lineup. Castle coming off the bench (for now) will not only provide great perimeter defense but also some playmaking. If Vassell comes off the bench, he might prevent a scoring slump while the starters are resting. The latter might be better since Castle is quickly developing while playing alongside CP3.

    One thing I think is underappreciated about the Spurs is how they got rid of Cedi Osman and Doug McDermott, two of the worst defenders in the league, and replaced them with competent NBA players like Castle and Barnes. Them not being here anymore has been a weird sort of addition by subtraction, and once Zach Collins is out of here, this is a playoff team.

    Last year against the Nuggets we saw the difference between a young team losing points in a stupid way. And a team that “manages” the game. CP3 brings this knowledge to "manage" a gem. Even in weak moments, ensure that we continue to score valuable points.

  • @JoshuaWSiegel
    @JoshuaWSiegel Місяць тому +1

    Trading for a pick would actually be a terrible idea. They already have an abundance of picks as it is, and they are past the "tanking" phase. I think, with a healthy Vassell and Sochan, they have a real shot at the playoffs. They look like they can make the play-in without them. At the deadline, if they have a shot at the playoffs, you are past the selling point.
    Paul has stated, "I just want to hoop." Of course I can't speak for him, but I think it's possible he may be more interested in leading a young team that went 22-60 the year before to the playoffs than riding the bench to a championship.

  • @timothylam2382
    @timothylam2382 Місяць тому +2

    I disagree I think if Chris Paul is good with the Spurs he should stay because basketball is not just putting pieces together it is about their chemistry, so far the spurs are young team and young team usually better than old veteran team. I know that if the spurs can pulls of the trade like how the Maverick got last year for PJ Washington and the other center guy would be fun but really I think that the spurs are on the right projectory and they should remains that ways. Develops team chemistry and pick up pace with good defense is what they need sometimes being the top seeds have you tons of expectations and being a target like how the Cav, thunder, Worriors, and Celtic. The spurs are actually play a very good basketball so far. We should not trade Chris Paul I believe that it whether this year or next year Chris Paul will win a tiltle with the spurs that is for sure

    • @timothylam2382
      @timothylam2382 Місяць тому

      Spurs are a tradable team, any guy on the team can be a trading target but with today Cap Space and new CBA rule trading for expensive player are risky and it is hard to garrantee if they will do well sometimes it tooks months and years for players to starts win game in the new system just like the Kevin Durant and Damian Lillard trade not all trade are good like PJ Washington and Gafford trade. I think that they should go out to sign college player or G League players in and see whether those guys any good and take a low risk move or any low risk trade. Today NBA are pretty weird, nothing is garrantee, players sometimes good sometimes bad, team now can only rely on young player with a long future with low pay as their main targets.

      @TimeMachine7773 Місяць тому +2

      With how he's playing, I'd say, keep him and resign him to another one year deal if there isn't a bigger move that you want to make. What are the odds a late first next year will out perform him? Not likely. There is a lot of young depth on this team so his body doesn't have to go through the ringer here. Wemby is also a human vacuum sucking up defenders. Life is easy in SA for CP3. SA also might get 4 picks next year in the first. They'll be trading 2 of those if they get all 4. They don't have the roster spots for many rookies.

    • @_DCF4L

      @@TimeMachine7773 Right! Except once Sohan and Vassell return, Castle's minutes are going to see a big drop coming off the bench as a non starter. Trading CP3 not only helps the rebuild, but allows Castle to continue his growth at the 1. CP3 deserves his title run and I'm sure that was part of Pops plan for him through a trade to a real contender.

      @_DCF4L the Spurs haven't had a minute of their team fully healthy this year. What happens if by January they're in the playoff seatings? Do you trade CP hoping to miss the playoffs and hope you get a good pick or do you see what happens with CP?

    • @_DCF4L
      @_DCF4L Місяць тому

      @@TimeMachine7773 Vassell was the only starter that started the season on IL and they're easing him back to the starting lineup and only Jeremy Sochan is out, but when he returns, regardless of the standings, a trade will happen, involving possibly both CP3 and Harrison Barnes. I get you love the idea of a playoff run this season, but don't be surprised if a trade or trades go down, it's been long rumored to be the plan that even writers are writing about it and expecting it. Castle's minutes will be half the reason for the trade/s, the other half is so the team can exercise what they learned from the vets to work as a cohesive unit.

    Not really related to the video, but the Spurs have a lot of picks and can't really use every pick. OKC has a similar issue, you don't have enough roster spots for all those picks. You would have to start trading picks or letting guys go. Personally, I would prefer the Spurs to trade some of those picks for one or two star caliber players or even near star caliber players. But they will obviously still keep building through the draft, which is something they are really good at and known for doing. Hell in this past draft I wanted them to trade up to the second pick to get Sarr, give Washington pick 8, two future first rounders, the second rounders and other future seconds. Having Sarr at pf next to Victor would have been perfect, and just slide Jeremy to sf. Lastly, as for Chris Paul, the Spurs keeping him would be the smart choice and even better to our young guys for their development since he's also like another coach to them
