I know lots of people dislike Chris for many reasons and I don't know him personally, but it does hurt me that the Lob City Clippers-and by extension, Chris himself-didn't get a championship. If he does retire ringless, I will still consider him one of the elites of the modern game.

Are we really so sure Chris and Kobe would have gotten along? The micro manager with a Napoleon complex and the mean spirited bully? I know Chris looked up to Kobe, but playing nice at the All Star game is not the same thing as actually sharing a locker room with him. I reckon they would have been at each other's throats before long.

@@DaDualityofMan That's the consequence of basing how you interact with your teammates on game results. Every team goes through ups and downs and being a jerk just cause you're in one of those lows is a surefire way to end up with flaky co-star teammates as options or alone. You know, the exact thing Kobe went through after Paul trade failed with Dwight/Nash and those years where nobody wanted to play with him.

It’s funny, in ‘21 while Paul was shooting such a high percentage and willing his team to the Finals (and a 2-0 lead, right?) I was rooting for him even though I had come to hate him through his foul-baiting. (Then it was easy to turn around be happy for Giannis)
Now I’m so excited for Wemby’s career that I will swallow my pride and bile if they become competitive. Victor is somebody to root for no matter who he’s got next to him. Praying for twenty healthy years and dominance like we have never seen.

Chris Paul has had an interesting NBA career so far.
In the beginning, he was a bright young star with the New Orleans Hornets, leading them to 56 wins at just 22 years old.
Paul is one of the greatest point guards of all time, and yet...he's still somehow underrated.
Despite the doubters, Paul is still an elite player who literally makes every single team better.
Every team he played for in his NBA career has been better with him on the roster, as he fits seamlessly into any situation.
Paul is objectively one of the 10 greatest point guards ever, a rare combination of historic passing, very good shooting, slicing attacks toward the rim, and elite defense at his position

That's your job as someone who engulfs so much of the team salary. Yes, there are bums out there like Bradley Beal but for the most part, guys who are in the top 15 in salary make their teams better. Also, as much as I appreciate CP3's skill, he also had a very clear ceiling, either due to his body breaking down late in the season or due to choking.

As a Lakers fan, I think if Chris Paul's trade didn't get vetoed that the Lakers could've won the 2012 championship. Getting past OKC and the Heat would've been difficult, but if everyone's healthy it could've been done. I will forever hate Dan Gilbert for sending David Stern that stupid email saying, "I just can't see how we can allow this trade to happen." and then when Kevin Love got traded to the Cavs no one complained about that, yet he complained about the Lakers. And even if Chris Paul went to the Lakers and Dwight Howard still got traded too, then he could've let his back fully heal after the surgery going into the playoffs. Man, what a missed opportunity.

To be fair, that 2018 year with the Rockets, CP3 was injured for a big chunk early, so before the All-Star game. That's primarily the reason he didn't make the team as a reserve at least. Hey, that Japanese soldier was hunkered in the Philippines 😅
    🇵🇭
    Seeking your opinions...
Is CP settled into his elder statesman role, helping Wemby grow...
Or he doesn't want to join other teams like the Lakers because he'll look like the ultimate ring chaser (and say, just burnish LeBron's reputation if they win)? Just curious what people think (even though it's moot at this point).
Also also, besides Point God, he made sure to get the bag while he was head of the Player's Association 💰💰💰 Which benefitted all vets but, hehe, was the equivalent of a backboard assist to himself 😅

13:07 Chris Paul if he wasn't on the Suns would have had the sons be a all right team, but the nuggets without Nikola jokic would have been utter trash that season

Those Lob City Clippers teams were never in that best team in the league tier, yeah they were entertaining but I don't think anybody seriously had them winning it all. Chris Paul had a better shot at winning a championship with the Rockets, then ironically enough his best shot was with the Suns when that team actually made the Finals.

    He's no Rondo.
Jokes aside, i think Rondo was a better guard. Sure he couldnt shoot but he was so fkn gritty and always made clutch winning plays

People hate when I say this but CP3 is the second greatest PG of all time. Right behind Wardell. Idc what anyone’s says. If you know basketball then you know how good this man really was. If he could have stayed healthy that alone changes how people see his career

  • @EonArashi

The thing with “true” PGs is they don’t win rings. Not as the centerpiece of a team. Only LeBron James and Magic Johnson averaged 10+ Assists per Game and won a title in the same season, at least since the introduction of the 3 point line, possibly all-time. The closest to that is Jokic. The best wing player ever, the original supersize guard, and a giant Center.
Small guards handing out assists have not *ever* won a title as the focal point of their team. That’s why the strategy fell out of favor: it straight-up *does not work* in the NBA, at least to win a championship.

    • @yeezet4592

Small guards are cheaper than wings, and there are more of them at a high level. It's more moneyball than anything
