The 2015 Clippers vs Spurs series was one of the most competitive and exciting playoff series of the entire decade. Blake was an absolute monster in that series. Taking out the champs that season made the Warriors path to the finals exponentially easier. I’m still a Clippers fan to this day because of that era despite the heartbreak. Doc lacked imagination given the talent he had on the roster, but his dignity and professionalism displayed during the Donal Sterling fiasco solidified my pride in the emerging era of Clipper basketball. I’ll always be a fan of Doc, Blake, and CP3 because they turned a historically bad organization into one respected enough to acquire Kawhi. The turnaround of the Clippers over the last decade was built on the backs of Lob City.

2015 was their best chance. The Warriors were still beatable, they eliminated the champs Spurs, and The Cavs didnt have Love or Kyrie due to injuries. We could say the injuries throughout their era was a big problem, but back then and now i still think, if Doc Rivers just would have done 3 or 4 changes in their system, they would have beaten Houston. But, he didnt make any defensive stops, their system started to collapse and the rest is history. The only change in their system i could retell Doc did was to use Griffin's passing and screens to get Reddick open for three, that change was efective but that was all.

Doesn't help when half the lineup is on cortisone injections, broken orbital bones, bon spurs etc. Clippers 2013-14 were winning every series they played until CP or Blake got injured along with at least 3-4 role players. The rockets series was the worst of them all. They went up without CP and then Blake tore a MCL, Jamal strained a hamstring that nagged him all season, JJ Redick and Glen Davis had bones spurs in their ankles, Matt Barnes had a torn labrum, Austin Rivers dropped out to the broken Orbital and came back momentarily to lead a comeback. This was one of many cases proving they were not front runners. And the Grizzlies comeback was historic, Spurs (the defending champions) comeback etc. The clippers are the only team to beat two champions in back to back playoffs. They had it all until the injuries and eventually the CP ego got involved in each losing effort.

Clippers fan here since 2006, I've been through a lot of heartbreak with this team and I constantly get clowned for it every season...but something about our current FO with the great Jerry West, has really turned our franchise around. We made the WCF without Kawhi, a feat we have never done before as a franchise..amazing. I'm hopeful for our squad. Especially with Lue at the helm, he's found a gem in T-Mann and most recently we got Norman Powell and Covington for pretty much nothing but an aging bledsoe a rook and a pick in the draft. I like our chances..I'm so used to heartbreak with this team but I feel this may be the turn around. Just needa get PG & Kawhi healthy for next season, this one is to develop and reload. Lob City was great for the franchise, but we used it as a leaping board to what we are now. A respected franchise with players actually wanting to come and play for us, rather than at times the Lakers, that is a great victory to say the least. Also, a new arena in 2025 for us by Mr. Ballmer himself who also now owns the forum haha only way is up my dude! (sorry for the long comment)

Seems like you skipped the most important reason they didn't win a chip. It's because of their coach Glenn Rivers. That guy is mediocre at best and could only win 1 chip with 4 HOF in their line up. Seeing how the Lob City collapses, the Kawhi + PG combo collapses, and last year how the 76ers collapsed and gave up huge leads... the common denominator here is Glenn Rivers and he should never get another job again.
If the Lob City had a legit top 10 coach of the league they would've easily won a chip or two (unfortunately they had a bottom 10).

Idk, Doc is a weird. I can't really call him bad because after joining Clippers he instantly made the team significantly more efficient at least in regular season. Vinny Del Negro Clippers were good but never was leaders in any category while Doc's Clippers had top 1-3 offense (even first the first year before GSW evolved into their final form) and also improved their defense to also to top 5 (top 2 for a brief period of time). Sure, such players like JJ Reddick and Matt Barnes addition played a role in that too and would have make a team better even under Vinny Del Negro but the results and stats speak for themselves. Regular season is regular season but it's still a pretty big achievement to perform at such level for 82 games so it's not useless. That being said, during playoffs Doc absolutely sucks and is a complete non factor or even a detriment to a team at times because of his stubbornness and unwillingness to adjust and lack of imagination/vision for the game. Team's choking is purely on Doc and not on CP3. Contrary to a popular belief CP3 performed in every single series outside of the one with OKC. But even in that series he was carrying hard (legit was the best KD defender on the team on top of doing the usual CP3 things on offense) until that bad stint in game 5 and 6 which kinda costed the series. However, later seasons even things during regular season went downhill because of his "oligarchy" in the team with Austin Rivers situation, and signings of old friends/players, it's pretty well documented. His playoffs "genius" also really shows with him not knowing what to do with JJ Reddick despite desperately relying on him being by far the best team's spacer and shooter for years.

Locker room issues aside, I think one of the issues clippers werent living up to expectation is because other than CP3 talent-wise they werent good enough. Blake was supposed to be that 2nd superstar but he was never really that. In a changing nba game he never developed an effective jumpshot, wasnt really good in the post as a PF and had a reputation of being soft. In terms of the other guys in that team the only player that could really create his own shot was Jamaal but he was limited to a bench role. So pretty much Cp3 didnt have enough help which is evident by the fact that when Cp3 joined an actual superstar with Harden, they went toe to toe with the Warriors dynasty.

He is actually my favorite player and I believe he is the best clipper of all time. Lob City Clippers had so many issues with the front office. In my opinion, they made a lot of issues with the new players they took. Literally only Cp3, JJ, Blake, DeAndre, and Jamal can score. There comes a time where only starters played the whole game (not literally whole game). It was just bad. Doc Rivers fucked it up by adding his son and an old Paul Pierce.

Remember constantly showing up to the school late despite them being clearly outmatched by Spurs (talking about a different Clippers vs Spurs series earlier) cause I insisted to finish the games that would start very early in the morning for me and would sometimes drag way past my first lesson (series were quite ugly from the Clippers side though because Clippers relying way too much on Griffing and CP3 isos in the playoffs). Also, remember spending a weekend over my friends at being the only one mesmerized by that Clippers vs defending champions Spurs game 7 thriller and pissing my friends that way because I made them to watch it with me when everyone else were only interested in Floyd vs Pacquiao match that happened the same day. People comparing CP3 and Deron William back in late 00s makes a perfect sense and it's not a pure black or white. For a short period of time it was a more modern version of Jason Kidd vs Steve Nash and there were arguments to be made in DWill favour cause in fact he has seen more immediate very impressive success with a team and was ahead in their head to heads. You could ask what CP3 thinks about this and he would say that DWill was amazing and probably his tougher competition at the time. It's just CP3 has had a much better career and longevity but peak Deron Williams was indeed a beast and respected by the likes of CP3, LeBron and Kobe as well as an important part of those historical 2008 and 2012 USA olympic teams. In 2008 they both shared the same time behind Jason Kidd and in 2012 even though CP3 started, they both still shared the same play time and had almost exact contribution. Like you can say that CP3 by a tiny amount was better but by it's not like you are entirely wrong if you would say that DWill was better. It was super super close. Btw, if anything CP3 is closer to 6'1 than being under 6 (which is still small and limiting for a player especially when you already rely fully on skill due to injury history (CP3 before knee injury in 2010 was both skilled and incredibly athletic)

If anything where a lot of time CP3's overcompetitivness rubbed some players the wrong way, it would have been a great match with Kobe. Like, CP3 got chubbier in between his Clippers and Rockets days but there is a high chance the combination of CP3 and Kobe would have pushed them work even harder. The only concerns was if their playstyles would mash cause all though in different ways, they both were ball dominant players. However, I'm pretty sure by that time Kobe was mature enough to find a compromise to make it work and CP3 in Rockets and OKC showed that he has no problems playing off ball either so I'm pretty sure he would have no issues in doing the same when playing alongside the legend. It's truly one of the biggest if moments in NBA history. @@MicahBell763

Starting that year, Draymond Green became their primary defender on Blake Griffin, and once that happened, the Warriors no longer needed to send double teams.

0:10 Lakers fans will tell you Lebron ruined the franchise and conveniently forget about these stretch of years before he got there.

The last word “Failure” describes perfectly this franchise. … and forever will be known as the OTHER LA Basketball team. When they go to their new arena no one will notice.

Meanwhile the Lakers struggle to make the playoffs and got bailed out by Disney in 2020. Ten years between rings 12 and 13 and it will be another decade again because the Lakers FO sucks ass.

Even though I’m not a Clippers fan, this is BS. The Clippers do have a dedicated fan base, and their home games during the playoffs are always loud. Even though they may not be as big as the Lakers, they can still have a slice of the city to themselves.

@@holzman00 I know there are a few of you. The fan base in LA is 5000 to 1 or something like that. I wasn’t referring to the fan base tho, I am referring to the failed cursed franchise you keep supporting. More power to you.

@@holzman00 I know. That’s what I said. But the slice is minute & meaningless….and the reason they have a following is the huge ticket price difference.

Love the content! You should do more of these. I’m a huge fan and could watch them all day. I’m interested in recent and even really old NBA storylines like 60s-70s. Either way keep up with the great content
