See, UA-camrs, 8 minutes are enough! I hate those 20-40 minute reviews, nobody has time for those anymore. Anyway, I fall more and more in love with Lotus, honestly seems like they're the only ones keeping the core driving ingredients in mind... Honestly as I've entered my 30s, mega hp cars are not good for much else than Instagram flexing, I am becoming a small lightweight roadster guy (already am a 80s+90s RWD German/Italian guy)...
I CANNOT WAIT for the brand new car coming next year. The ethos of these but with a bit more modern polish has got to be great. Literally no-one needs more than 500hp, just less weight. All the modern stuff is just a heavy numbers contest
After driving TVRs I learnt that light weight is the most important thing I look for new cars come out. Today most performance cars are overweight heffers
Sam Moores The reason why I love Lotuses, especially Elises is because I can actually play with it just sitting down. It’s like riding a motorcycle, only with two extra wheels, a roof, doors and windows. Most modern cars are like ‘isolation boxes’ as Jason Cammisa puts them. And I agree with him. They don’t involve you. I want to say this. Modern cars get you from point A to B. Supercars get you from point A to B in a speed. Sports cars let you move it from point A to B in whatever the pace you choose.
First comment! Love the Lotus content, Sam. You should try the previous gen Elise with the 2zz motor (the 111R). Redline is north of 8k and it comes on cam at 6k.
Sam Moores If you want to do a classic Elise, try a Series 1 car from the mid-90s. They are even lighter than the S2 and S3 cars. Only weighed about 1500 pounds. Revolutionary car for the time (bonded aluminum chassis was the first on a production car).
They have barely changed inside really. Only a few extra carpets etc. The car got heavier due to safety equipment. The old ZZ engines are better though tbh. They are from before emissions regulations got tighter so are less restricted and a more robust construction. The power delivery is more aggressive and more low down torque.
The punch that he is talking about, as well as a better exhaust note. The trade off being that you can’t ring it out as much on normal roads due to the added power. On top of that the steering in the Exige is a bit of a workout when manoeuvring in a car park etc. Elise is slightly more agile due to being 200kg lighter.. You’d have to try them both to see which you prefer on the road. The Exige would generally be everyone’s choice for track though although that’s not to say the Elise isn’t a blast in that setting also
Yea, add on things like shipping costs, import taxes etc and the price rockets. Lotus only make something like 1500 cars a year and they are all hand built, they aren't a big operation.
no one shows the storage or any features. we know it is way below 5 seconds 0-60 and its best car to drive. really show the features, or explain to people how it can optioned
This just confirmed everything i wanted to know about this car. Time to save up for it and trade my car for one :D. Based on your drive, are the seats liveable with on like a long journey?
You would have a lot more space than half a meter. That is less than the distance between 2 average cars in a car park. I would imagine you would have closer to 2 metres
This is my dream car man . Not the other huge ass cars out there.

I’m absolutely in love with the Elise, and that gearstick is just lovely! I need to own a cup edition sometime if I can ever get my hands on one.
i realize it's quite off topic but does anybody know a good place to watch newly released tv shows online ?

Modern cars are soooooo heavy. It’s such a shame

My brother has had several in different power ratings. Great car...

Sounds fun! Maybe I need to drive some older classics

@@craigyirush3492 Interesting, I'll see if anyone I know has one
Awesome little cars! proper drivers car
The Best
Color 👍👍👍
I've been looking to try one of these to see how they compare to an older s2 Exige.
That would be interesting. The engine in the Exige does it every day for me

How does the handling compare to your classic 911?
It would be quite interesting how it compares to the exige 350 🚜

Very cool pocket rocket
a short(ish) and (very)sweet video/review!
Hi Sam, I was just wondering if this car was privately owned or borrowed from a dealer that might have it for sale ?
No, Lotus press car.
@@Vonstroke ok thanks 👍
Exige 430 Cup for the win imo. Get an Miata if you must.
Agreed
The 430 is literally double in Australia.
Approximately 50k pounds to 100k pounds equivalent

great car..needs a better twin cam...and needs to be 200kg lighter. (that's why it doesn't have the 'punch' Sam wants) why is it 900+kgs??

It was a while back but I don’t remember them being uncomfortable at all

Is this guy sure what he is talking about!
Need more body shots before hopping in
