I tried seated curls like Denis was performing at the end of the video for the first time. I got 70kg for 8. 105kg is nuts. Would not be surprised if he puts up a 115kg strict curl in the next couple of weeks.
elbows barely move and actually starts with straight arms. all these other guys are doing more like tricep push. Starts arms at 45 degree angle and bringing elbows up. that leonidas dude has impressive biceps. edit: james harrison does it right too.
Magnus handles a straight bar with working weight form, he uses some momentum but has an incredible well controlled eccentric portion. A thing a beauty really.
Matthew definitely would be interesting. Crush strength is very different than wrist, elbow, and shoulder rotational strength. Devon consistently takes down dudes way bigger than him because he’s a master tactician (mentally and physically). Would definitely be a fun match to watch.
I don't think many actually torn their biceps during strict curl tbh, bcuz they doesnt extend their biceps at the extremity. Is not that easy to tear it, look at all the clowns that deadlifts with bent arms, having all the weight on their biceps and there arent many that tear the biceps.
Lazar Even with perfect form, the biceps muscles are small and can't keep up once they undergo huge tension or fatigue due to either curling tremendous weight or training them daily.
i saw this video on his channel. He made a arm wrestling video three days before this competition and sore muscles in both arms. He can do definitely more then this 91kg at 135 kg bodyweight. He beat the german record in his first try wich was 80kg (junior class)
On his instagram you can see a 92.5 kg Strict curl (not judged but definetely good). That one looked just as easy as this one. And he is not even seriously training for it :D
And only one doing full curl. These other guys are doing more like a push. Their arms don't start with straight arms and I bet many of these guys would not even get 90kg if they do it right. That's just so big cheat and takes alot from biceps.
It's sad that all these legends are aging and will one day leave us. Arnie for me is the greatest bodybuilder/weightlifter to ever live. Absolute perfection
The training video where Magnus Samuelsson do the curls can be found on youtube if anyone wants to check it out. It's called world's strongest arms. In it Svend Karlsen world's strongest man in 2001 does a couple of reps with the 140 kg as well. Magnus has several other impressive feats of strength in the video like closing the #4 Captains of crush and benching 270 kg for a couple of reps.
You know what bro. I’m proud of you. Almost at 1 million. Got the big names talking about you. Everyday content. Too much legitness my dude. Been here since well damn before 50k bro. Keep it up 💪🏼💪🏼
Jeff Cavaliere did 135x8, strict form and leaning slightly forward. He made it look so easy, due to his superior training methods like exhaling before squatting, you'd swear they were fake plates.
Got to suggest Magnus is the most impressive when taking into account the relative "cheat" involved while curling. His 140 for 4 is definitely the cleanest looking. Strongest arms ever! Would be interesting to do a grip strength comparison between him and Brian Shaw and/or other grip legends... Nudge nudge wink wink Nick 😜
Love how Nick showed literally the world record holder doing 70lbs less than Kazmaier supposedly did, and then saying "it's not so unlikely". Uh. Yeah. It is damn near impossible, in fact. Adding 70lbs on top of what the current world record holder does is no joke. I don't care if you're Kazmaier or not.
Just watch him at the 1981 World's Strongest Man. He basically curls/cleans a 360 log like a toy. 440 cheat curl is not out of the realm of possibility.
@Truth God sorry. Don't care if he was special. He's not 20% stronger than the number 2 guy. Extraordinary claims require extraordinary proof. Of which there is literally zero for this.
@Truth God agree to disagree. My standard for evidence is higher than a website claiming the dude did something in public. Wouldn't hold up in a court of law, exactly.
I seem to remember seeing an interview years ago with Manfred Hoeberl and he claimed to be able to do 440 lb. cheat curls. That was of course before an injury sent him into retirement.

So I've been practicing my max strict curl for a couple of months now. Reached a "pretty weak" 170 lbs. for 1 rep. Think that's about it for me. Put 225 on the bar a couple of nights ago and could barely curl it a third of the way up. Not bad for 53 though. These guys are amazing. The difference between a few pounds in weight is immense. I'm just competing against time now. Still worth it.
We need a new category: The Curl Clean. It’s like a hanging clean, but with a supinated grip. Because that’s what these super heavy curls are. They are a supinated hanging clean.

Manfred Hoerble according to Bill Pearl would curl 150 lb dumbbells for reps! His Strongman career was cut short when he crashed into a semi head on at 80 MPH and lived!
Eric Bugenhagen did an extremely sloppy 455 cheat curl. Not a great curl at all and he didn't get a lockout with it but it's out there. He's also done a lot of cheat curls in the 300's.
That first clip of Kas was filmed at Daves Gym in Northwich , Cheshire ,U.K. You could contact them to see if they have any more film footage, the gym is still there.
