@@shrek_yourself Thanks for letting me know it got taken down. The Discord who runs the doc is currently trying to appeal and get the doc made public again. Current best guess is that with the MIDA stuff Google is afraid we are organizing to overthrow the government (of Mars). Hopefully it will get sorted soon. Everyone I've run into used this same doc as there reference point.
you know what? I bet this is an introduction to how Marathon is going to tell its story. I find it hard to believe that Bungie would make all these websites for just one arg. This could mean that Marathon is going to double down on cryptic secrets, multi-media storytelling through the internet, and community-wide args. Which would probably be the best possible modern adaptation of Marathon's storytelling and deeper lore that we could ask for.
Honestly, it is one of the best ways you can continue a lore like the original Marathon Trilogy but in a more modern way, because i don't think anyone would want to read the undreds of computer terminals with cryptic writing like in the old ones. This way of telling the story really is one of the best ways they could have done it in my opinion.
i totally agree many people think that marathon might have zero story . but when the devs say the story will be player driven i think this could be a part of what they mentioned and i doubt they would do all this just for one arg or a one off thing. i think this could be their way of telling the story while also getting the community involved
First, it's MY-DUH, second, MIDA finally makes its Canon debut, all the way as a small lore bit from Marathon 1, to their weapons in Destiny (MIDA Multi Tool and Mini Tool). Excited to hear all about them.

@malus vici - Fantastic video dude! Not sure if you've heard this but we're fourth wall breaking 800+ years in the future by completing the ARG.. coolest shit ever
The timeline in infinity is essentially only one timeline, the Tycho arch, as it is the only one that leads to the Jjaro AI being utilised as intended. All others are attempts that either lead to the events of Durandal happening again but in slightly different ways
So, Traxus was the AI that f*cked Mars (and it's 5 others AI) back in the day, it took 2 years of offline grid to get rid of Traxus damage, yet Traxus lives. When I first saw the Traxus name I almost through my coffee. Traxus might just be our first Stable AI after rampancy. Leela sent out the first "SOS" when the colonyship Marathon was first attacked, the angel figure might just be Leela. Leela is not rampant but she is pissed AF. The SOS message, took or would take, 92 uyears to reach Terra. The S'pht are still in Tau Ceti??? Why? UESC can go to hell, MIDA all the way! Jokes aside, the Marathon ship was seen as an opresion tool to the Martian People, so MIDA was born and MIDA did things, powerfull things, one of then was the Cyborg (the player in the 3 originals Marathon games). Now to the Tau Ceti, it was saved, we new that. There were 10 cyborgs in Tau Ceti, 9 on planatside and one at Marathon. We Know that the 9 in the planet saved the planet from the Aliens... But now they are gonne. So, after all of this, Terra might felt that the colony was way too quiet and felt a need to send someone. The year tho, it takes 12 light years to ligh to travel from Tau Ceti to Terra, so the game is on 2850 and the first game is in 2794, 56 years earlier.
They were mentioned in the UESC documents but iirc they just briefly mentioned them and talked a little bit about rampancy. I chose not to include them in the break down because they didn't seem central to the plot of the ARG at this point and they weren't apart of any of the puzzles.
My only question is where the security officer is gonna fit into this game (obviously it wouldnt be him specifically, but you know what i mean if you know marathon lore)
I imagine, like a lot of Bungie titles, you'll be able to just hop in and have fun without digging that deep into lore. Like with Destiny, you don't have to be an expert to hop in and play the story missions or social PvP. At the same time, to day one raids in Destiny you do need a certain degree of expertise in the game mechanics. I'd like to think Marathon will strike a similar balance.
@@kirishima638 The game itself is still being worked on according to Bungie. As for the ARG, I'm afraid I have to agree. From what I can tell the company that had been putting it all together and managing it is no longer working with Bungie at this time.
@@malusvici bet you dollars to donuts this project is dead and bungie will pretend it never existed. One short CGI teaser trailer with no gameplay and people lost their minds…
ARG stands for Augmented Reality Game. It's typically a game that takes place in a mix of digital and real life. It's kind of like a conspiracy except it's orchestrated by a company usually as a way to build hype for a product. Another example is when District 9 was about to hit theaters. There was a phone number they put on posters that you could call to report alien sightings and then you would get clues to unlock more lore for the movie.

The wrong coordinates were out of Iowa. You will see a lot of corn and Iowa memes now which is kind of funny
Ah, Iowa, I should have double checked myself there but I found the phrase "Ohio, the heart of it all!" way too funny and on topic 😂
Wait, is there not any information on any AIs in the ARG at the moment? That stuff was the backbone of the original games. Have they been referred to?
They were mentioned in the UESC documents but iirc they just briefly mentioned them and talked a little bit about rampancy. I chose not to include them in the break down because they didn't seem central to the plot of the ARG at this point and they weren't apart of any of the puzzles.
traxus iv is the ai who caused the martian internet to be taken down when he went rampant, traxus is a major player in the arg
un monton de lore
My only question is where the security officer is gonna fit into this game (obviously it wouldnt be him specifically, but you know what i mean if you know marathon lore)
I imagine we'll get some reference to the cyborgs. Maybe some armor like they did with the Security helmet in H3.
300 years
So, do I have to be a professor too to actually play the game?
